Volunteer Opportunities

Parkville Nature Sanctuary is a wildlife preserve and educational site developed and maintained nearly entirely by volunteers. A partnership between the City of Parkville and the Missouri Department of Conservation created a 115 acre natural area, made accessible by nearly three miles of hiking trails. The main entrance is located below the New Platte County Health Dept. building at 12th and East Streets, (Highway 9.)

Parkville Nature Sanctuary has a host of opportunities for volunteers to complete community service requirements, work toward earning nature-related merit badges, or simply contribute their valuable time and efforts to benefit the community.

Volunteers may choose to help keep the trails clean and passable or assist with special events, programs, or day camp.

You are invited to attend our committee meetings where we welcome your input. Countless other opportunities arise each year. We would love to have you join us.

Our Committee Meetings are open to the public and you are invited to come-as-you-are. We meet in the Old Train Station in downtown Parkville, on the Fourth Tuesday of each month, at 7:00 p.m. We would love to meet you. Or call our Director Jim Reed at 816-741-0820, and he will get back with you as soon as possible.
