Well, moving right along, is it Tuesday already?
And another UPS delivery today but not for me... I ordered an external antenna for my friend Bob
He has a mobile home he takes places on weekends and wants his HD TV with him
Why can't these people find the stuff they want online anyway?
I found this one at B&H Electronics, 5th order I placed with them.. they have EVERYTHING and good prices too
So, what Monday? No projects to work on, no place to go (that I wanted to go)
Thinking about what to cook later, something diffent maybe? How about a steak to grill?
Since I haven't bought a single scratcher or gone to the Casino this month... Why Not?
So up to the Price Chopper... see what they have... Lookee there! Top Sirloin Steak for $2.88 a pound!
Three nice big ones in a pack, price $15.69... Save $7.89... I pay $7.80.. Such a deal!
So back to the ranch, freeze two, marinate another in Worcestershire sauce, clean the grills...
Put a tater in to bake... Get the charcoal going, make a salad... Pour a glass of vino tinto
Get that steak on the grill and sit out on the veranda in that beautiful weather while it sizzles...
Then some garlic toast, green salad, baked tater, grilled steak...

Up way too early on Sunday... Longest most boring day I can remember... Well I did do my BLOG and what else?
Tried to start some video, just couldn't get into it... Did good to get the Sanctuary pics done
And I was watching some of my older videos on the tube with the new sound when BJ showed up
Showed him the High Water on the River video and Mama Possum.. Then cranked up the sound for him
Dug out some Doobie Brothers old Rock... He likes that stuff... And that system really cranks out with that
I cranked up that bass sub-woofer enough to holler QUIT! Well Mike or the guy next door weren't home...
Don't know what the new guy upstairs might be thinking... But after a bit I turned it down
Then BJ took his computer I couldn't fix and headed out
Then I headed up to the Price Chopper for some Bush's Best Beans and a couple other things
I had made some BBQ beans before but I got them too spicy so I added another can to tone them down
So then later I had a smoked turkey leg with those beans and some crusty Italian bread
And... a manhattan cocktail and some more TV and I wore down the day... Ho Hum...

So, kind of a busy day on Saturday as I said... Lots of exercise Herr Wulle
And lots of photos and some video... I wanted before and after photos and video of the bridge move
So the crew Met at the Donut shop for coffee first, then showed up at the Sanctuary about 9 a.m.
One crew set off to trim trees along the entrance trail, another headed for the bridge project and the third to the cabin for the wiring
One bridge was in danger of being washed out so they are going to move it to a new spot, moving the trail too
Saturday they were just clearing the new trail and the bridge will be built later by Boy Scouts earning their Eagle badge
Each year Erwin temporarily wires up the cabin for lights and sound for the Ghost Story Night
Now they are working on permanent wiring so they can just plug in the lights and sound system
There is no electricity at the cabin, so they still have to hook up auxilary power to the new wiring system
The third crew were trimming overhead branches on the entrance trail so City work trucks could get in
So I got my photos, rested up at the cabin, then headed on back by the Price Chopper and home
I wrote my BLOG addendum, mixed a manhattan then enjoyed making noise with my new Sound System til dinner time...
Music CDs sure sound good.. and my Blu-ray videos are better with the new System... won one for a change!

~ Now It Works Fine! ~

~ Lookee all Them There Speakers.. and Two More not in the Photo ~
Well now... Sweet Smell of Success! Finished my BLOG... signed out of chat... Now for that Sound System
I had the remote control working... Out with the Manual and Set-up Menu... Well that manual is wrong
Or not thorough enough... The Set-up menu gives choices I didn't need... Where are the HDMI settings?
I plugged the U-Verse HDMI cable back in the Receiver... Manual says put it the 'SAT' HDMI-2 position
But click on SAT with the remote and it says COAX... And no choice to set it to HDMI... BUT...
Click on the TV position and it says TV HDMI-3... So I plugged the U-Verse cable into the HDMI-3 position and it WORKED!
Sound to all speakers and picture going to the TV... And sounding pretty good
Now the cool part... Comes with a microphone you plug into the Receiver, hold it in the listening position..
Hit ASC on the remote and it automatically adjusts each speaker for the best volume...
Checks each speaker several times, then says READY and off we go...
So sounds pretty good, can't say that I am Overwhelmed... maybe just Whelmed?
Another Tech Battle Won!
Then headed out at 9 a.m. for the Nature Sanctury... The work crew showed up and headed three ways...
Some to the bridge they are going to relocate, some to trim trees, some to work on the wiring in the Girl Scout Cabin
I walked about a mile (Sigi) to the Bridge location where they started clearing brush for the relocation of the trail and new bridge
Then another mile (see Sigi...) to the cabin and got more pics there of the wiring work
No electriciy there but they are running connections for the lights and sound at the Ghost Story Night...
They hook up auxiliary power for that one night
Then some chat and I helped hold wires for Erwin... Walked another mile back to the entrance (Sigi)
Then about noon on the way back stopped by the Price Chopper then next door to Gomers and back home
Plenty of exercise today and now a Manhattan and some TV (with surround sound) and I am pooped...

~ New Surround Sound System ~
~ And Nature Sanctuary Work Day Today ~
~ Gee Mom... Look at the Size of that Woofer! ~
So... after a long and boring morning the UPS man showed up just after noon
And look at the size of that box! Three times the size of that last one
And most of the size is the Receiver/Amp and that huge Sub-woofer
So then the unpacking, the wiring of all those seven speakers and then reading the manual
I should have taken a pic of the back side of the Receiver, must be 100 connections back there
But actually I only needed 3 HDI connections and of course the 14 for the speakers...
OH.. and one for the sub-woofer and FM antenna
I thought I had it all figured out before I started... One HDMI cable from the U-Verse TV Receiver box to HDMI In
Then one HDMI cable from the Blu-ray DVD player to HDMI IN
Then one HDMI cable from the HDMI Out on the Receiver to the TV
Then hook up all the speakers, and one RCA type cable to the input of the Sub-woofer
The Sub-woofer is self powered and contains a 150 Watt Amp just for the speaker so takes a separate AC power cord
So... everything hooked up... time for the Moment of Truth
So, the Blu-ray player worked fine and sounds GREAT! Switched to the TV and nothing happening
So I poked around with the Set-up routine and got the TV going but the sound was disappointing
So as it was dinner time, I hooked the TV back the way it was... Also now the new Remote control quit working
Now what? Well there is always tomorrow to play some more... And I woke up this morning with an idea on that control
I had read the answer and it came to mind thinking about it.. There is a button on the control to select the device to control and I hit it accidently
So this morning the Remote works fine... Now to look more into why the TV doesn't sound as good as the Blu-ray DVD...
I SHALL OVERCOME!
And, maybe today I will go over to the Nature Sanctuary to maybe get some pics of the work day.. And maybe not...

So, my special order legs showed up at the Price Chopper Thursday morning... Number One Honeysuckle White brand
Back home to rinse and dry, no trim needed... Then dust with BBQ Dry Rub and warm to room temp
Into the smoker about noon, the long smoke til 3 p.m. and then on with the BBQ sauce and wrapped into the oven to juice up
Come out tender, moist and juicy every time... Yeah.. yummy! One to gnaw on... Five for the freezer
Juat about 3 p.m. loud knock on the door... Boss Bob... said he smelled that stuff at the next building
He wanted to take a peek... Showed him and he said "Wouldn't have an extra would you?"
So today I have one all wrapped up for him, will drop it at the office when I check my mail
So later I had a sample with some oven fried potatoes and Napa cabbage cole slaw... Yummy!
And that was about it for the day.. Now today.. that new toy on the way!

Well yesterday, got some gas and headed to Platte City for that every 90 day trip... Yeah Sigi... again
Then stopped in on the way back for some Idaho taters and green broccoli and a gallon of cow juice
Skipped the Bingo and Crossword, trying to stay off them and the Casino this month
Making up for that BIG Pay-off to Bill Me Later so I could order the new System (due Friday)
Got a new pic of the Better Boys tomatoes and the Pots out front
Well Bruce, looks like the peppers woke up with no additional wood ash from the smoker... OR from Miracle-Gro
I do need to mix up some Miracle-Gro and hit them again with that though
What they did need (I thought) was more heat and sun and less cool and rain
So, the Better Boys are all foliage so far.. Only counted 7 tomatoes in there today
But there are 17 tomatoes on the Rutgers in the pot, Then 12 Jalapenos in the next pot and 4 Poblanos in the next
And several inch long cucumbers in the last pot and not growing at any great rate...
That leading cuke plant over the top and back down the side again...
Well you know this is no great food supply for me, just a fun diversion to see what I can get
So, today... up to the Price Chopper to see if my Turkey Legs showed up, then smoking later
And then the Surround Sound System tomorrow... Fun time all afternoon setting that up

~ Well it Belongs to Neighbor BJ ~
~ Three Days and Still Won't Work Right ~
Well I have pretty good luck getting things going when one of my Computers hits a bump in the road
So word gets out that you are a computer genius... HAH!
Anyway not the first time someone asked me to 'take a look' at their trouble maker machine
So BJ brought his fairly new laptop over 'to take a look' Yeah I took a look, running so slow you could do nothing
So, I said.. you try 'System Restore'? Nope... What's that? Well I looked, System restore had not been enabled anyway
OK, do you have your System Repair Recovery Disks? Huh? What's that? Well the disk it tells you to make as soon as you turn on a new computer
Duh, nope, didn't do that... Oh well... So he left and I looked at a few things... Hard to do as it took so long to execute any tests
I did manage to install Network Magic and transfer all his data to one of my computers
And I got Microsoft Securitry Essentials installed and ran that scan... Nothing...
Found no usual causes of a slow computer, no virus, no malware, never saw a problem quite like this
So worked on it most of that day, the next day, and yesterday when I had time to waste waiting for it to run a test
Oh yeah, I got it to burn a System Repair Disk and tried that... And it would not boot from from that
Last and still running is a 'Tune Up' program that came with the System and I am not placing great hope in that
So he called yesterday. What ya find? Nuthin I says... don't you have a warranty? Well I think I do...
Well DARN! Find out who and why and take it there... So that's the next step..... I give up!
So what else? Just a run to the Chopper for some Vidalia onions and Sweet Vermouth, check the mail and that was the day
Then a nuked up reheat dinner and toddle off to bed...

Well, just nothing going all day Monday, Stopped by Walgreens, then the Chopper for my Turkey Legs
No turkey legs! The guy said he just got the order that morning, other guy said they would be here Monday
So he said he would order them, be here Thursday, so... Thursday will be a Holiday and I will Smoke!
AND... I got another email from my friend R.L in Las Vegas, pointing out a TYPO on My Page
TYPO on My Page! How could that be? I am meticulous in formatting My Page!
Anybody ever see a TYPO on My Page? So very unlikely... EVER!
So anyway, We were engaged in a lively Chat in the Kitchen Chat Room... Sigi and Wren and Who else? Blondie maybe?
So then I got an IM from a guy who used to frequent the Chat Room who calls himself 'barnsk'
Most others called him 'barn'... Anyway later he stopped coming in the Kitchen Room
Now I was trying to keep up with our chat in the room and the new one on IM with barnsk
He is a Swedish computer engineer, now living in the UK, and heading a Company there
He is planning a trip to travel the USA as he says he is going to move here and looking for a location
Was asking where he should go and where he should move, it got too much for IM so he said he would call me
So ring ring, there he was, on the phone from England, had to drop out of the chat room to talk
And talk we did... About this and that and here and there, a place to move to in the U.S.
He wants to stop by for a visit he says... That would be pleasant as I do like to talk
Anyway we talked for at least TWO HOURS on the phone, he said his company was paying...
So that was the event of the day, spent the rest trying to find what's wrong with BJ's laptop
Still at it this morning, getting nowhere...

Another Holiday gone and I didn't even go down to the park once... But I woke up at 10 p.m. to hear fhe fireworks last night
And no grilling or smoking... I just thawed out a rib I smoked earlier and had some BBQ beans on the side
But I did head up to the Chopper to try for some Turkey legs to smoke...Didn't have any
But the meat guy said he would order me some so I will go back about 10 today to get them
Then I can have an added on Holiday to smoke them this afternoon
So out to check the garden... Rutgers tomatoes doing good, 14 or so on there now but will ripen slowly
Whole bunch of new jalapenos popping out, seems they just show up overnight
And what's that little red button down there... Hah, little round Jalapeno that never grew, just turned red
And one nice Poblano coming on, might just dice that one up in a salad or something
And several little cukes showing up, need to get some size on those things, I'll have more than I can use in a week or two
So, slow 4th overall, kinda misty and damp all day, unusually cool, no real rain though
Now nothing scheduled but the turkey legs today and waiting for the Sound System Friday

Well I got some wrong info yesterday... Read that the Parade was Sunday...
But... I was out talking to BJ and we heard the Parade heading down Main Street
Oh well, wasn't planning on going down anyway, no bands at this parade, school is out
Got the Flag out today but it looks a little rainy, now thinking of smoking turkey legs if the Chopper has any
So, BJ brought his new Lap Top computer over for me to look at, running really slow
And it was running slow... I checked it all over... Could see NOTHING wrong... No virus or malware I could see
So... After a couple hours... Sorry... Mission Failed.. But I ain't no expert by far... I would think he has a warranty
It was cocktail time when I gave up on the Lap Top... Put out a burger and bun to thaw and made cole slaw
After dinner that was about it for a pretty much nuthin day
So today... Get cleaned up and head for the Chopper... They haven't had turkey legs the last couple times I looked
But they have cut some for me when I have asked.. Might do that if they don't have any ready

Well what yesterday? Pretty quiet for the most part... Waiting for my printer ink to print Boss Bob's Photos
But... In the interim... Been having strange pains the last couple weeks, decided to call the Doc
Not real bad but just uncomfortable all day and night for several weeks
So got right in at the Doctor.. My regular Primary Doc was off and a young new Doc taking his place
But this guy was sharp and really seemed to know what he was doing
So the usual questions and whatever, then in for an X-ray and back for some poking around
And looking at a prior Colonoscopy report noted some diverticulosis.. AHA!
Well, that can evolve into Diverticulitis and that's the symptoms I had
So he ordered blood work to check on possible gall bladder troubles
And then prescribed an antibiotic for the suspected Diverticulitis... So on that now and hoping for the best
Then a stop by Price Choppers Pharmacy and then headed home.. Oh Oh Fed-X man coming my way
Was expecting my printer ink and just missed him.. But he left it by the door... Good!
So then I loaded up the printer, printed out Bob's photos and delivered them
All business done for the day... Later bratwurst, cabbage and taters ... Yum!
Now today, had a good night, feeling a little better, maybe the Cipro is working?

Busy day yesterday... after my check hit the mail box... Headed for the Bank, then the Price Chopper
Nice Holiday sales at the Chopper but I didn't buy much special... Maybe later
Really do not need to grill or smoke more for the weekend
Then back to the Ranch to pay all my bills, then lay out some smoked chicken for dinner
Ran out of wine yesterday, forgot to get more at Gomer's... So I mixed TWO manhattans to sub for the wine
Made some slaw from Napa cabbage, hadn't tried that, pretty good with the chicken
That was about it for the First Pay Day this month
So up early this morning to see my SS check had hit the bank early... Good...
I paid off the balance to Bill Me Later yesterday so I ordered the new Sound System today
Approved instantly, now the waiting begins again... Ordered ink yesterday for Boss Bob's pics, waiting for that too
So... All this month's bills paid... Now if I can stay away from the Scratchers and the Casino...
Then I might make it to the next Pay Day... ya think?

As I am sure they will with no hesitation... And that System is on a good sale at B&H also
And it also qualifies for cash back at ebates.com which I just signed up yesterday ~ See how that works
Gorgeous morning so far... Good chat in the Kitchen Room with Sigi and Chefraw
Then checked the Snail Mail (nuthin) and up to the Chopper for a Bingo HEY... $10 Win!

First thing after clean-up this morning... Out to tie up some more branches and water the Better Boys
They are really climbing now and setting fruit finally, The Rutgers is way ahead in numbers though
But I am thinking the Rutgers might be a determinant type, have one crop and quit
I read online that one type of Rutgers is determinant... The Better Boys are indeterminant... Produce til frost
But about a dozen Rutgers on the plant now, only see two Better Boys so far
Really nice day yesterday but NADA going on... I thought there was a Sanctuary meeting but checking the Schedule, It was last Tuesday
But... I tied up the tomatoes...Out to get a No-Go Bingo and Crossword
Then I vacuumed and mopped the kitchen floor... Look Mom... (and Sigi) ...It's Clean!
Took a couple pics, did most of this short BLOG... No cooking... Just a slow day
But... Pay Day tomorrow... as soon as my check hits the mail... up to the bank and then fun time
Pay all the monthly bills... Then pay off 'Bill Me Later' in full...
Then as soon as they register my payment... Off to B&H Electronics online to order that Sound System
But then... Wait a week before I can take all day to install it
