Then I went in to check the front Room Plants, I wonder now how long that last setup will stay?
Seems I get ideas and keep changing things all around, well the Seasons change, so do my Plans
And the Cucamelons seem to like the new setup, grabbing on to the new 'Ladders' I made on Thursday
It was a misty dreary cool Morning Friday but not Cold anyway... Headed to the Price Chopper for a couple Items
I got my stuff, headed back to scratch only a $5 Ticket... Oh well... Still have a couple bucks in the Bank
Then some Breakfast, decided to enter a few more loser Tickets, that gets boring and I have a lot
Entering away and I entered a Ticket that said 'Not Recognized'... That means it is not a Loser or I entered wrong
Checked again, nope Numbers all OK... Checked the Ticket... The Code that says the Ticket is a winner not scratched
A hopeful sign, checked the Ticket, they hadn't scratched the back side 'Bonus'... I did... said a $50 Winner... Great!
So I took that back, cashed it in and got $20 more and only won back $15 that time, still a nice Profit
Was really another nothing much Day, just a little this and that and lots of boredom, but the time did slip away
I had those three little Cucumbers I picked on Thursday, and a few more in the Crisper Drawer in my Fridge
Looked like enough for another Pint of Pickles so I started in on that, I already had the Brine
Put the Brine in the Pot to heat to Boiling, sliced up the Cucumbers and some Onion, into the Brine
And then into the Pint Jar, just enough to just fill it to the top, now I have way too many Pickles
And so, back on Wednesday I was puttering around again on the Computer and Speaker problem and I solved one of them
I should have known as I am a Computer Genius (HUH?) You just have to tell the Computer where to send the Sound
There is a little mark ^ above the Speaker Control on the Desktop, adjusts the Level and also where the Sound goes
I don't use the Monitor Speakers for computer Sound... I use the output to my Speakers from the little green Plug
So I wanted the Sound to go to my TV and from the Sound Output there to the new Speaker System with an HDMI Cable
OK, when I want that, I just have to click on that Speaker Selector and the Sound goes to the TV and it sounds Great!
Now, on to Thursday Morning... And first thing another Project popped up, those Cucamelons are really growing
And I decided to go ahead and move AeroGarden 1 and 3 so I can lower the Shelf as the Cucumelon Vines need the room
Where to put them? Could put them on the Shelf with AeroGarden 6, but that's down low, better on a high Shelf
So I put them on the top Shelf in the Kitchen, just about right there, now all set for the Cuca Vines to do their thing
And that was it for the Gardening, that playing at Farming sure does keep me busy if nothing else
How did I keep occupied before the AeroGardens and inside Plants? But must have been even more boring than now
On to the rest of the Evening, another Bratwurst, some Red Cabbage German style and some of my Potato Salad
Some more TV, some more Music, some more Vino Tinto and finally too sleepy and tottered off to Bed... Good Night...
Finished the Morning stuff, just puttering around on the Computer when the new Complex Boss knocked
He said he heard it is going to get cold Thursday morning and he is checking all the Furnaces
Well I know mine is working, I've been hitting it for a Hour or Two on these chilly Mornings
Anyway he checked mine over, then we had a little chit and chat and he left for Upstairs
Took a look at the new Lettuce Plant in the Water Bowl in the Kitchen, looked ready to plant to me
The first Lettuce Plant doesn't seem to be growing any lately, maybe Lettuce Seeds would work better?
And then... Into the afternoon, dull dreary cold Day outside, set out a Burger and Bun to thaw for dinner...
Maybe make some fresh Potato Salad to go with that?... let's go do that and back to the TV after
I headed over about 8:45... I checked the Map online before I left but I got lost...
I called them, I was just around the Corner from the Office, hidden behind the Trees
So went in to get checked in, didn't have to wait long, no one else there, the Girl asked her questions
Then the Doctor came in, young and pleasant, I told him my tale of woe, and then he started freezing my 'Sun Bumps'
And there were quite a few of them, hmmm, maybe 15 or so, and that stuff stings when they do it
Anyway he finished, I got a Prescription and headed Home about 10 a.m. and pleased with the Visit
OK then, a late Breakfast or was it an early Lunch... and got on with the Day, looking good again out there
Next... a very small Project, so the Cucamelons grow on Vines, they need something to climb
And they looked like they were getting ready to do just that, so they needed something to climb on
I had some Fencing, clipped off enough to make 8 little 'Ladders' and stuck them in the Pots
And when they get to the tops of those, I'll move the AeroGardens below to the Kitchen, amd move their Shelf down
Then tie Strings to the Ladders and run them up through the top of the big Shelf above them and then where?
Finally with my closing Movie of the Day, a nice big Flour Tortilla with a good dump of Chili on it
Wrapped up that big Burrito to savor along with my Movie and a glass of Vino Tinto, pretty Tasty and Spicy too...
And that was the Finale of my great adventures on Tuesday October 11... Meeting adjourned...
Then a check on the Kitchen Experiment on Monday Morning, and the first Onion planted had given up, laying flat
So I pulled it out, had a new Onion, cut off the Bottom and pmanted back in the same place
The other Three Plants on the Planter seem to still be doing OK, for now anyway
What's today anyway? Oh... Tuesday, and I have another Dermatologist Appointment... Always something
Now I have a work around on for watching my new Videos on the TV... Hooked up it's second source Input to the Computer
I can use it as a Computer Monitor and play my Vimeo Videos and have that great Sound on my Computer Speakers along with them
And then off to the Bank for some Cash and then to the Minit Mart to lose it, got my $20 worth
Then back for the Fun but no Reward, well a dinky $10 back, that just doesn't thrill me so much
And on the way back in I saw that nice big Poblano Pepper, decided that would be for Dinner for Saturday
So I needed some things again from the Price Chopper, mainly Coffee, TP, Potatoes. Lettuce and a couple other things
First into the Produce Department and saw a bin full of these big Beauties for 99 ents each, what a Deal!
I tried out the latest Rhubarb Pie for Breakfast, and it was a lot bettet than the last one
Sweet, Tangy and just about the right consistency, you need to add a little Flour of Corn Starch for that
And then it was just puttering around for most of the Day, no Projects to keep me occupied
I did head back to the Price Chopper for a couple Items and when I got back I saw a Box out front
I had received a Message that my Speakers would be delivered Saturday but they were here Friday
So that was a small Project to play with for awhile, easy to hook up with Two Cables
I set the Box under my TV, plugged in the Power COrd and the Optcal Cable, treied it out
Sounded a lot better than the dinky built-in TV Speakers, nice full Sound with more Bass
But then... Oooops! A Problem.... I wanted the TV in that Room mainly to play back my Videos from Vimeo
Of course I can do that on all the Desktop Computer Monitors anyway but not on such a large Screen
So, I clicked on the Smart Hub on my Smart TV, opened the Vimeo app and played one of my Videos
And a great picture but no Sound at all... NOW WHAT? So I tried the Amazon Video app and the Netflix app
Same thing, nice Picture but no sound, it does play the Picture and Sound from You Tube just fine though
The Speakers with that same hookup will play everything that comes in from the DirectTV Receiver
So, I gave up on that, went on with the rest of my Afternoon and Evening as usual... Nice Dinner and off to Bed
Saturday Morning, that Sound problem still bugging me, I tried a different Optical Cable, still the same thing
So I got online and tried to research the Problem, several Articles offering some solutions, I think now I know why
It doesn't seen to be a Speaker Problem, it is a TV Problem... Some TVs can't handle certain Formats
And the one I have is a lower Priced Model, only one Optical Sound output... No HDMI outputs or RCA Connectors
So the New Speakers work great with everything from the Receiver but some online things with my Smart Hub will not
And... after all... I didn't really need the TV or Sound Bar at all but I wanted to add another Tech Toy to play with
So I'll just use this thing for what it will do but it won't be a very often thing... On to the new Day now...
Oh Oh... Just got another wild idea to try with that set up... Someting to play with on Saturday then....
And then, getting a little shaggy again since my last Buzz Cut, headed to the Shear Palace for another try
I am keeping it short for now, using a little treatment on my Scalp for those 'Sun Bumps'
So, got that accomplished and then next Door to the Price Chopper for Vino, Juice, Pie Crust and Lottos
Back home, scratched off a $15 Win, lost $5 on that Deal, but try again later, where is that Big One?
And I got that Pie Crust thinking of all the late Season Rhubarb out there and no Pie for quite awhile
So I got my Snipper and a Bag amd headed out, snipped all the Stems off this time, will be the last Harvest
Then snipped off all the Leaves and left them in the Rhubarb Bed, Stems in the Sack and headed back in
Next, snipped the Stems into short lengths and into the Big Bowl to rinse, then later make that Pie
And then around 1 p.m. started on my last 'Pie Plant' Pie of the Season...
Rinsed the Rhubarb real well, then into the Pot with Sugar, Four and Butter and Nutmeg, I like to precook a little
Then I fitted my Crust into my big Glass Pie Pan... really a little too big for the 'store made' Crusts
But I roll them out just a little to make them fit... Then the Filling into the Crust and the Pie into the Oven
Then an hour of that 'Apple Pie' Aroma floating around the place, it does smell like Apple Pie to me
Next out to cool, later to cover and slip into the Fridge, I like it cool for Breakfast
Time to back off for the rest of the Day, a nice Dinner and more TV and Vino Tinto and Good Night
And then, even before Breakfast I headed out for my Lottos, hit the Price Chopper first
Back Home to scratch off a nice $20 and $50 Win, decided to go trade at the Fast Stop, got $20 more
And then back to scratch off another $20 Win but even up on that one, still had that $50 profit for the Day
Still before Breakfast... about 9:30 a.m. or so... headed back to check on things... and things surprised me
I found a nice big fat Big Bertha Green Pepper, Three small Tomatoes and still Nine more Cucumbers
It looks like they weren't as close to quitting as I thought but there can't be a lot more coming
And it looked then like another Pickle Day for Wednesday... Another quick and easy Project
And also I want to set them in Trays to catch the Water Drips, also get some Chain so I can raise and lower the Growlights
That will take a trip to Walmart for the Trays and Lowes for the Chain, if I can find the kind I want there
And then there is that AeroGarden 4 that I have planted with Swiss Chard and not doing much yet with that
I have more Micro Tomato Seeds and thought I would rather have them in that Garden than the Chard... So I'll do that
That should keep me busy for some time a little later in the Morning after I do my usual Routine and run around
So I did take the AeroGarden 4 to the Kitchen, dumped and cleaned out the Grow Pods and Grow Bowl
Added Water and Nutrient to the Grow Bowl and then stuffed Six new Pods with Spagnum Moss
And then planted them with some more Micro Tomato Seeds, then back to the Living Room and back on the Shelf
And so it wasn't anything special but it did fill the bill, Stuffed Pepper and Mashed Potatoes
Good old down home cookin' like Mom used to make... OK... What's today? Wednesday already?
Then I checked the AT&T Awards Center about my Rebate, said the $200 Check had been mailed on October 2... Great!
And I talked on online Chat to the AT&T Lady, to make sure they dropped my Free Trials and would not charge for them
Then off to see the Wizard at a little after 8 a.m. A stop at the Fast Stop to trade in a $5 Win and buy $20 more
And a stop at my Bank to deposit a Check and then another at the Complex Office to pay the Rent
When I stopped at the Complex Office, I handed my Check to Boss Bob Owner/Manager and he handed it to a lady
She was seated across the Desk from him with a pile of Books and Papers between, he said you don't pay me now
He had sold the Complex to the Lady and her Husband.. Oh No! do my special privileges fly out the Window?
And it doesn't look like it, Bob introduced me and she was very enthusiastic about all the Plants in front of my place
She said she would have me advise her how to dress up the Place, so it looks like Boss Bob found the right buyer
Bob will stay a few weeks to help her get aquainted but we will lose Boss Bob and Tom the Maintenance Man who has done so much
And so, when I got down the Hill I saw a big Box on the Porch, my Speakers came early... Whooopee!
But when I unpacked them, took a good look and OH NO! They won't work with my TV, and I thought I checked on the input
So the first ones I got were defective and these don't have a compatible Input Cable, so I hooked them to my Computer
But Oh Man! Do they sound good! Playing Music or one of my Videos back with them... Yeah!
And we are in a Weather rut it seems, Temps the same as the last Three Days but they are saying cloudy for Sunday
Out and about Sunday Morning, 10 a.m. and I am tickled when the Weather man is wrong to my advantage, bright Sun then
Checking on the Kitchen Plant Experiment, looking good, the first Three Plants doing good but the second Onion hasn't popped up yet
So Monday again, starting a new Week and I do like Mondays now... Somehow my Sundays are not the best
But the Week Days go by fast and I usually find something to do... Doesn't take much to keep me happy... Ole!
Such a busy Day on Friday, should be less active today, and it's Pay Day, just sit back and relax
I had most all my Bills already scheduled and nothing to do except check that I had them all on the way
October now, the end of summer in sight for sure, can get a Freeze in October sometimes
Then the Gardens in front and back all quit and then the Pots start getting emptied for next Spring
Just a couple Cucumbers, one small Cantaloupe, quite a few Peppers and some Tomatoes left out back
A few Tomatoes and quite a few Peppers in Pots out front, when we get the first Freeze warning it all gets Harvested
Then the growing entertainment will all be in the inside Gardens all Winter
And... looks like I have 'Sweet Pickle Peppers' coming next week and then later some 'Mini Bell Peppers'
Those will go into Pots in the Kitchen under the replaced AeroGarden Grow Light, see if that will work
For Today, again no Plans, but how long does that usually last, most always lately something pops up
Checking the 'Window' Gardens, looking good, all the Lettuce Pods now have Seedlings, Jalapenos getting big
And the Cucamelons really getting with the Program, Three more Seedlings up on Saturday Morning
And they said it would be mostly Sunny but the Sun did peek out a little but it was cloudy and cool most all day
The Day wore on and I got the urge to Smoke something... My Barbecue Hobby woke up, and I was thinking Chicken Thighs
Back to the Price Chopper, seems when I want them, Chicken Thighs are always on Sale and they were, I got Six
Back home to rinse and trim and douse with BBQ Dry Rub, fired up the Smoker and got the 'Pollo' in about 2:30 p.m.
I'll check that about 5 p.m. Should be looking pretty good about then
And wasn't that a really nice lucky Pay Day and Barbecue Day... Can this Sunday be any better?
And then later on that Gorgeous Day, out back to check things, thought I would harvest the Swiss Chard for the last time
This makes about the Fifth harvest of Chard, I pulled up all the Chard Plants, snipped off the Roots and into my Sack
Next, put the Stems into a skillet with some sliced Onions, Olive Oil and Garlic Salt. let them simmer slowly
Then I added the Leaves and some Malt Vinegar, a little Black Pepper and Kosher Salt, more simmering
And it didn't look like I had as many Leaves as I thought, what else can I add? Hah! Celery and those Eggplants
I sliced a few pieces of Celery, and the Two little Eggplants, tossed them in, simmered more, needed more Vinegar
And then that was about it... another Taste, yeah that should do it... So a glass of Vino Tinto and back to the TV
Was that the end of Friday.. Hah! Not quite, but this is getting way too lengthy so I shall adjourn for this Day
I had more for Friday, but I'll catch up on the rest of this really nice busy Day on Saturday Morning... Pay Day!
