~ An Early Check of the Gardens ~
~ Mostly a Nothing Much Day ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ Enough of those Sugar Cookies for a Couple Days ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

So what's the Weather for Thursday, starting out Cool, 67 degrees but mostly Cloudy, top of 87
Not much to do in the Gardens, shouldn't need Water for a couple Days, but there was a Cucumber in back I wanted to check
So up the Hill at 7 a.m. And there were THREE... Cucumbers ready to pick, one cute little fat one
And I noticed that my Pepper Plants were leaning over... from the Rain... the Wind?
Well, I had some metal Stakes out there, used four of them to tie up the Peppers, and saw a Pepper on one of them

~ Three More Cucumbers ~

So I picked my three Cucumbers, checked all the Garden Beds, got some Photos, staked the pepper plants

~ Cucumbers in Two Beds Now ~ Pepper Plants Staked ~ Tomato Plants at 6 feet ~

~ Cantaloupes doing Great ~ Saw a tiny Melon in there ~

And then headed back in about 8 a.m. to get my non-activities started for the Day
Made my Morning run for my Lottos, would have been more profitable to stay at Home
Halfway through July and my biggest wins were three $50 Scratches so far, you sure People do win more?

Then I was Bored to the Death by Noon, when I have no projects I am at a loss how to spend all this time
After 29 Years of Vacation I sometmes run out of interesting things to do, today I have an idea though
I saw a Post by a friend on Facebook of his Photo of the Rocky Mountains, reminded me of my trip to Pikes Peak
That was in 1972 and I got a few Photos... Never did copy those slides off, might be an idea for now

And then I started my Afternoon early, Mixed my Margarita before 1 p.m. That's a rare event...
And started on Dinner Fixing early too, only had Cookies all day so far... Sliced up a couple Cucumbers
Put them in my Vinaigrette and into the Fridge for an Appetizer later, and what's for Dinner?

Sipped my Cocktail, got bored wth afternoon TV, hotted up my Dinner early and then got Sleepy too soon
And headed to Bed for a nap, woke up a couple hours later, still sleepy and went on to Bed for the long long Night

So it wasn't my 'Lost Weekend' but maybe I can call it my 'Lost Thursday', sure was pretty much a nothing Day
Anyway I made it to Friday Morning now and what for this Interesting Day ahead? Only that Slide Copy Idea so far
But let's attack the Day and see what happens... HUH?

How nice! 80 Degrees and Sunny Wednesday Morning but going to a very warm 92 later, well it is July
I had that new Dishwasher loaded up and ready to try out, put the Coffee on and then fired it up
And it is churning away now, seems like it's been running for an Hour, it sure is not a speedy Box
They included a new 'SUPER' Detergent Sample, I am trying that, will see how good a job it does

And it looked like it did a very good job when I went in to unload it, maybe have to try more of that Detergent
And it was a quiet Morning until about 10 a.m. Decided to head out back to check the Pumpkins
And the ground back there still is kind of wet and slippery, climbed the Hill to see the Pumpkins
And they aren't doing much at all, looked good to start but now not even giving out Male Blooms
Maybe just too much shade up there, last Crop I'll try up there under those tall Trees

Back down the Hill, saw another nice Cucumber, be ready on Thursday I am thinking, and a Pepper Plant needs support
Then the Cantaloupe patch, looking better every Day, vines trying to climb out of the Cage now

The sky was getting Dark while I was back there, and I heard a distant rumble of Thunder... more Rain?
Back down the Hill at 10:15 a.m. Sprinkling some when I headed out to the Price Chopper for Lottos
Then raining some, got my Lottos and headed back, even Darker, Streetlights came on about 10:30
And then the heavy Rains and Thunder came again, no watering again for a couple Days maybe

So on into a dull dreary Day until around 1 p.m... Sun began to peek out and I needed something to do
I just ran out of Price Chopper Raisin Oatmeal Cookies, how long since I baked any Cookies?... Long time
I like Raisin Oatmeal Cookies best, well I had Oatmeal but no Raisins... but everything you need for Sugar Cookies
Flour, Sugar, Butter, Egg, Baking Soda, Baking Powder, Vanilla Extract... Let's get at it

Pretty simple process except the Sugar and Butter 'Creaming' is tedious, after that blend in the Flour
Form the Cookies and into the Oven for 10 minutes or so

OK, that's done, how are the Poblano Peppers doing? Found a couple tiny ones a couple Days ago
Wah Lah! (Voila?).. I don't speak French... I found Four more, now Seven and, lots more to come looks like
Oh, excuse me, after I took the Photos I found one more, so Eight as of Wednesday morning

~ Poblano Peppers in AeroGarden 7 ~

And into the Afternoon, I mixed a Margarita and chomped down on a few Cookies with my TV
Pretty simple amd sweet and tasty, Home Cooking is really the Best if you know how to do it
And I watched my Mom, and copied some of her ways to do it, then invented a few ways of my own

So that was ptetty much it for a not much going on Wednesday, well I kept busy at that
I wrapped up that Day with some Beef Stew and 'Snacker Crackers' and off to Bed

So what's Today? Well Thursday, time to start on my July 14th Page, then I start the Second one on the 15th
Halfway through July already? Oh My... Time do Fly!

~ Rainy Morning ~ No Watering on Tuesday ~
~ New Dishwasher Installed ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ One More Nice Cucumber Tuesday Morning ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Planning on Watering out front on Tuesday but the Weather intervened, sounded like Rain outside at 6 a.m.
Peeked out front, really pouring down, the Street was a River... Well just what we needed and right on time
So what else was planned for the Day, really nothing on the Agenda, then starting on this BLOG the Power went out
And I had written a paragraph and then lost it, had to start all over, well I have the Gift of Gab, not hard to do

So, still dark and I couldn't use the Computers so I jumped in the Shower for my Morning Clean up
And I was done and then the Power came back on, then the Sun came out and I headed out for Lottos
And as usual lately, only won $5... So took that back to trade for a couple more and still only won another $5 back

When I got back the First time I saw my Neighbor wave and he walked up to my Place, 'Hey can you give me a Jump?'
He was going to get rid of his old SUV and couldn't get it started, so I drove over and got him going
Then when I got back the Second Time he had a jug of my favorite Wine to give me, ahora tengo mucho Vino tinto

~ Vino Tinto Gift from my Neighbor ~

And then... continuing the Saga... Tom, Maintenance Man stopped by to look at my out of service Dishwasher
He had other things to do that Morning but said he would be back to install my new Dishwasher in the Afternoon
And I needed it, I had a Two Day backup of Pans and Dishes needing a bath... I forgot how to do that by hand

And then, sometime after 1 p.m. here comes my new Dishwasher, Tom started unhooking the old One
Then went to find the Painter working in another Building, to help him take out the Old and Bring in the New

~ Unhooking the Old One ~ Ready for the Junk Heap ~

Then Tom hooked up the new One and set it running a Trial Cycle, when he left I had to load it up and wait to try it out...
I had several Days of Dishes that were waiting for the Dishwasher and I was tickled to have one back up and running

~ Bringing in the New One ~ Ready to Wash the Dishes ~

And that was about Margarita time, I mixed one and retired to the Living Room and TV Time
Later a Salad snack, one of my fresh picked Cucumbers, Green Pepper, Sweet Onion... Ranch Dressing, cool and refreshing
Then some BBQ Chicken and Potato Salad to finish another interesting day, now when is the next Event?

Monday Morning... 8 a.m. Sun peeking over the gully, 79 Degrees going to 91... Nice Day on the way<
Slide copying, Web Page making most of the afternoon on Sunday, now what for today? No plans yet
But thinking, I have a lot of Slides from my Visit to Disneyland and other places in Los Angeles
Maybe more Slide copying and Web Paging when I get in the Mood? Just might be an idea at that

So, let's see, what's coming up this week? A new Windshield for the Mercedes coming
And Boss Bob ordered me a new Dishwasher... What else? To be Announced...

So then off to find my Fortune at the Fast Stop... It was not there, only won $5
And nothing else planned for the Day, what about those Disneyland Photos? Make another Web Page?
OK, set up the Copy Equipment to start on that... I had 101 old 35mm Slides of Disneyland to copy

And I copied away for some 54 Slides and then the rest were not so good, somehow out of focus
So I skipped those and started editing the Photos, the 35mm slides didn't quite fit the DSLR Aspect Ratio
And that took the greatest amount of Time, finally assembling them on the Web Page and Uploading
So all that was finished about 4 p.m. Margarita and TV Time... and thinking about 'What's for Dinner'

Here's the New Disneyland Web Page with the 44 Year Old Photos...
~ To My Disneyland Web Page ~

So then, took a look out front, the Wind had blown over the little Umbrella over the Pepper Pot
And blew a Branch off the Tomato Pot with a big green Tomato attached, tried to put it back and the Tomato fell off
No problema, decided to make Fried Green Tomatoes with it, easy enough, Sliced it, Floured it, Eggwashed it
Covered with Panko Bread Crumbs asd set aside to set up before Frying, then Oven fried with Olive Oil

~ Green Tomato fell off the Plant ~ Oven Fried with Panko Crumbs with Pico de Gallo ~

And so, made some Pico de Gallo with Tomato, Onion and Jalapeno, Oven Fried those Slices, topped with Pico de Gallo
And the best Fried Green Tomatoes I have prepared to Date, finally learning how to cook?

And that was it for a busy and delicious Monday, now another New Day to find something to do

~ Watered the Gardens out Back ~
~ Made another Web Page ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ Cantaloupe Patch looking Better every Day! ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Was posting to Facebook on Saturday afternoon when Diane, FB Friend in California asked about the Cantaloupes
So I ran out back at 2:10 p.m. and took a Photo for her, had it edited and posted on Facebook at 2:17 p.m. Quick like a Bunny!

And now it is Sunday Morning at 7:20 a.m. and the Sun is peeking over the Gully, what to do today? Thinking of watering out back
Starting out at 76 Degrees then, but they say going to 92... another Hot Sunny one in Store, so water is probably needed

And so, wrote my BLOG, Had my Coffee, Worked my Crossword, then what? Well yeah, out back to Water
Watered everything back there, then dragged the Hose out Front, but it didn't look like watering was needed
So then it was time to cash in some Lottos, buy more and lose more, no profit for Sunday looked like

And then, on to the Afternoon and poking around in Facebook, saw a second Post about Knotts Berry Farm in the Old Days
Well I had been there in the 'Old Days'... If 1972 was in the 'Old Days' and I had some 35mm Slides I took then
So, why not copy off the Slides and then make a Web Page to show them my stuff way back in the Old Days

So I set up the Screen, the Slide Projector and my DSLR peeking over the top of the Projector to the Screen
And I copied about 20 Slides, advancing them on the Projector then snapping a Photo on My Canon DSLR Camera

~ Copying the 35mm Slides to my Canon DSLR Camera ~

And then, I loaded the Photos into the Computer, edited them for Size and Focus and Color, saved to my Internet File
Then I constructed a Web Page and added the Photos and some Comment and then uploaded to my Web Site
Oh man, am I efficient or what? I started a little after 1 p.m. and had the Web Page on the Internet about 3 p.m.

~ One of the Knotts Berry Farm Photos copied from a 35mm Slide ~

Here... Take a look at my New Web Page... ~ To My Knotts Berry Farm Page ~

And that was enough playing around for Sunday, let's have a Margarita and fix up something to eat
What's to eat? Had my Margarita, then some of those fresh Cucumbers I cut up in Vinaigrette Sunday Morning
They are tasty all by themselves as an Apperizer, then I hotted up some BBQ Smoked Chicken and made a Sandwich
That and had some more of that 'Gift' Potato Salad, pretty Tasty, I don't make mine quite like that

Then a Glass of Vino Tinto and a Movie and an old TV show and Sunday was all done for me
Now... Monday, new Day, new Week. new Adventures? Well anyway, more simple fun times is all I need

~ What to do with Tough Beef Roast? ~
~ Well, make some Tender Stew ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ Onion Experiment slightly Successful ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Was thinking about some 'Wilted Lettuce' to go with my Roast Beef on Friday but had no Green Onions
But I had that Onion 'Nubbin' experiment in the AeroGardens and they were going nowhere very fast
So I popped them out of the Grow Pods, trimmed them and into the Fridge for later, then decided not to use them Friday
I already had Cucumbers in the Fridge and other stuff to sub for the Lettuce

So, Saturday Morning, cloudy bright at 7 a.m. Time to run out back and check that big Cucumber
And there were Four Cukes ready to go, don't want them to get much larger than the Big One here

~ Come in all Sizes ~ Small, Medium, Large, and Extra Large ~

Checking the AeroGarden 7 real close I found Two little Poblanos just starting, and still lots of Blooms
I'll probably have to do some tying up on that Plant, those Poblanos can get big... Hopefully

~ A few Tiny Poblano Peppers just Starting ~

Weather forecast said 70 Degrees at 7 a.m. Later to 87 and mostly Cloudy, maybe Water again later in the Day?
And off to the Minit Mart for Lottos, back to scratch off a $15 Win, so back for more, I want a BIG ONE!
So, back to the Minit Mart to try again and Whooopeee! The one I thought was a $5 Win was a $50 WIN!
And that is the Third $50 Win in July and that is surely a good start! Bought more then and lost them all

~ The Third $50 Lotto Win for July! ~

And, last Night when I tried out that Beef Roast I found it was a bit on the Chewey side for a Chuck Roast
The way that I do that 'Oven' Pot Roast method, it usually turns out tender, and so... What?
Well I stopped in on the way back at the Price Chopper to get Diced Tomatoes, Celery, Carrots, Onions
A fresh sack of Potatoes and some Beef Stock... Let's make Beef Stew with that Beef Roast!

Well that was a lot of tough Beef and it would make a massive stew, so let's get with it
Took most of the Beef out of the Freezer, nuked it enough so I could cut it, chunked it up some
Put it in a Pot, added some beef Stock and a Can of Diced Tomatoes and set it to simmer
Then the Veggies, sliced some Celery, some Carrots, some Potatoes, some Onions, that should do it
I put that stuff into my Crock Pot, added a little Beef Stock and fired it up, on high for 4 Hours

And then it was about time for an afternoon Libation, what shall we have? Well still have some Lunazul Tequila
And so, a Margarita mixed and chilled and back to the TV for some non-news all over again
That CNN can sure run the dayights out of any trouble that pops up, I think they make it worse
Anyway, what can I do about it, well just sip my Margarita and bear with it til Movie time

So the time slipped by and the Crock Pot turned off and set itself to 'Hold Warm' until I was ready for Dinner
That time arrived and I dished up a healthy Dish of Beef Stew and Veggies and had 'Snacker Crackers' on the Side
And that treatment sure did tender up that tough Beef Roast, and the Veggies were Delish if just a bit on the salty side

~ How to Tender up Tough Roast Beef ~ Make it into Stew ~

That finished up my Saturday and now I have a long Sunday ahead to do something with, anyone got any Ideas?

~ Another Nice Day ~
~ And another Visit from the Mistress of the Mansion ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ Light Hoods on the Way up Again ~ Peppers ~ Peppers ~ Tomatoes ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Lessee now what is today? Oh yeah Friday, end of the Work Week for you Wage slaves
And another Day of Vacation for me and looking like a nice one starting out, saying mostly Sunny and 87 tops
And what shall we do today? First head up the Hill out back again, see how the Crops are doing
And looking good, especially the Cantaloupe Vines... Really getting with it now, lots of Blooms and Buds
Got my Eye on a few Cucumbers, one I was tempted to Pick but I'll wait one more Day, still have some in the Fridge

And the Better Boys Tomato Bed... Lots of big ones in there now... Waiting to see those Ripe and Red
One Vine has reached Six Feet, several more on the Way, as far as they can go up, will have to lean over the top from there

~ Tomato Plants at Six Feet Now ~

Back around front... Looks like the Poblano transplant is doing better outside than it was in the AeroGarden
But I am still covering it with the Umbrella in the Midday Heat, gets wilty looking then
And another Tomato almost ripe in the 'Better Boys' Tomato Pot, I'll watch that one too

~ Orphan Poblano Pepper ~ Better Boys Tomatoes ~

On to the rest of the day and off to the Price Chopper again, decided I wanted a Beef Roast
I found a nice Chuck Roast, not on sale but the price not all that bad, nice lookin hunka Meat
So I got that back Home, floured it, browned it, sliced Onions in the bottom of a Pyrex Dish
Added some chopped Garlic, the Roast on top and into the Oven for a couple of hours

~ Nice Chuck Roast for Dinner ~ Several Dinners ~

And then a call from the Lady in the Mansion up around the Corner, are you receiving Guests today?
But of course, always welcome... and in an Hour she was out front checking my Flowers
So it has been a week or so since she was last here so we had a catchup on the latest non news
And some Computer catchup, News catchup, TV catchup and worked a Crossword on the TV from the Laptop
Then asking if she had see the original Psycho Move, I had shown her some of the Bates Motel remake earlier
She had seen clips she said, well I have that one recorded so I played that for her on the TV
We watched that about a third of the Way, then she had to head back up the Hill to do the Chores at Home
So a pleasant Visit and lots of Chat and we'll finish that Movie on the next Visit
On to Dinner Time, Roast Beef, Cornbread, Potatoes au gratin... (without the Cheese) and Cucumbers in Vinaigrette
A Tasty dish but the Beef was a bit more chewy than I like, what's the problem this time?

Anyway that finished out the Day and here's another Weekend to waste... Ho Hum and away we go

~ Ever Onward and Upward! ~

~ Morning Thunder Storms ~
~ Another Lotto Win ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ Looks like a Female Cantaloupe Flower to Me ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Took a trot out back on Wednesday Afternoon just to check things and they were looking pretty good
And the Cantaloupe Cage looks very Good! Lots of Flowers and Buds and I saw what I think is going to be a Cantaloupe
A Female flower with a bump behind, that looks to me like a Melon possible... Keep an eye on that one

And I was thinking of trading in my Winner Lotto at the Fast Stop Thursday Morning
There is a Auto Glass business just next to the Price Chopper, I thought I would stop in there
Safelite had rescheduled me for next Thursday, I wanted to check that other place for a competitive price

And so, Thursday Morning, the AeroGarden came on in the Kitchen at 4:55 a.m. and woke me
Light not all that bright but it shines through my Bedroom door, well I usually get up at 5 anyway
So I got up, started the Coffee and heard Thunder Rumbles, well no watering needed Today
That kept rumbling on until around 7 a.m. Must be getting a nice Rain out there...

And we did, all dreary, drippy and wet out there when I headed to the Fast Stop for Lottos

Cashed in for $50, $30 in my Pocket and $20 for more Lottos and then to the Glass Place
And good News there... Lower price and they can have it done about the same time as the Safelite reschedule
They had to order the Windshield from Omaha, take Six days maybe but that's about the same time

Bored again and nothing planned, except to wait on some Dockers Slacks and Lee Jeans from Sears by UPS Delivery
But then, don't I need some more Lottos? After all it was winner Money I lost, and had $30 left
So back to the Fast Stop where I had won NOTHING, got $28 more Tickets and headed back in the Sunshine
Saw the UPS Big Brown Truck just outside of my Drive to my place, wonder if he dropped off my Package or not
The Rain all gone and not sunny bright and gonna get HOT again, well it got HOT at Home, scratched off another $50 Win!

~ And Another Welcome $50 Win on Thursday ~

The UPS man had dropped off my Goodies... Pair of LEE Jeans, I like them better than Levis and cost less too
And a nice neat pair of Dockers Khaki Pants, the best looking of all, now where can I go to show them off
Unwrapped all, hung the Dockers in the Closet to sraighten out the folds, put the Jeans in the Washer
Seems it's best to wash the Jeans first to shrink them a little to their regular size

So not much except to enjoy the sunny Weather the rest of the Day, a bit on the warm side but just barely bearable
No need to water with all that Rain to start the Day, really made things muggy in the afternoon
Went back once to check the Gardens, found one nice Cucumber to pick, three more might be ready Friday
Heading back around front, saw the girl next Door tending her Garden in the Porch, gave her the Cucumber
She has Cucumbers in a pot but not producing yet and I have a bowlful of them in my Fridge now

And that was about all, later some more BBQ Ribs, Pasta Salad and one of my big Red Tomatoes
Just sliced it, cut into segments, some Salt and Basil and chilled in the Fridge... and really Tasty!

Now on to Friday and another Weekend, no plans, just let it happen... Off we go!

~ Made more Rhubarb Sauce and Cucumbers in Vinaigrette ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ More Vines reaching the Deck Rail ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

A peek out front at the Sweet Tater Vines, now climbing along the Deck Rail and more heading up
If they were stll going vertical they would be at more than 15 Feet now
Last Year they were at 12 Feet when they passed the Trellis and started climbing in the Tree behind
Wonder how far they could actually climb if they still had something to climb? Maybe I can try that sometime

Waiting for the Safelite Windshield Man to call, had a little T-storm at 7, then all quiet at 8 a.m.
He was scheduled to be here sometime from 8:00 to Noon on Wednesday, nothing yet at 8:20 a.m.

Spoke too soon... The man called at 8:25 and said he didn't want to come over if it was raining...
So he was working on another job then, said he would call me later to see how the Weather was
If still dripping I would have to take it over to their Garage and I don't want to do that

So he did call, said it was still sprinkling where he was, could he reschedule... Well OK
And then, the Sun came out bright and hot and it was beautful the rest of the Day

That sun was HOT! the little Pepper in the Pot looked Great at first but the Sun was getting to it
So I took the Chair and Umbrella out again to help it tolerate the Morning again, gets shady in the Afternoon

Needed something to do, took the big Bag of Frozen Rhubarb out of the Freezer and into a Pot
Measured out Eight Cups, added two Cups of Sugar and a Teaspoon each of Cinnamon and Nutmeg
Then set that on a low Burner to heat slowly, to defrost the Rhubarb then simmer it a bit
After a while it was more tangy sweet Rhubarb Sauce, I like it even better than in a Pie

And those Cucumbers I picked first thing, peeled them, sliced and into the Sugar, Water and Vinegar
Salt and Pepper and some dried Basil and into the Fridge to crisp up for Dinner, they sure are good

And then... into the warm Afternoon and BORED again, no Project ahead except Dinner
I had been to Three places for Lottos, winning a few small ones and going back to trade
Ended up around 3 p.m. with only a dinky $5 Ticket to cash in, so back to the Price Chopper
They had just 0pened a new pack and I got number #059, last Ticket in the pack, they start at #59 amd work down
Usually I have found the first #000 and last #059 Tickets don't usually win, but this one did... And nicely
Back Home and not too hopeful, scratched off all the Letters... But the LAST one got the Bonus Box
Usually the Bonus Box is only a $5 Win but occasionally a good one, this one was a very pleasant $50!

~ First Nice Win for July ~ May there be plenty More ~

Nothing left then except for Dinner, grilled one of those lotto Prize Burgers, still have many left
To go with that, some more of that Gift Potato Salad from a friend... And some of those freshly marinated Cucumbers

And what for Thursday? Thinking of trying a more local source for my Windshield, just a mile up from my place
And a Package of some new things from Sears, Jeans and Dockers on the way by UPS, delivered today
And I have that $50 Lotto to trade for better Winners... Yeah! Off to the Races then!...

~ The Day after the Big Day ~
~ Back to Cancel the Therapy Sessions ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ Two More Nice Cucumbers ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Out front in the Dawning Daylight to take down all the Flags and Flag Fans, another Holiday all gone
So when is the Next One? I think it is Labor Day, the Holiday that ends Summer Time and it will get here quickly
Time does really seem to be slipping by fast for me in my later Years, I guess I am having too much fun?

So, I really have enjoyed this last Holiday Weekend, My Flags and Flag Fans, my Barbecue and the Weather
The Smoked Ribs, the Smoked Chicken, the very cool Weather on July 4th, 80 Degrees Weather on the 4th is rare
I didn't go to the Parade, I didn't see the Carnival, I heard very few Fireworks... But it was still an enjoyable Weekend

So what is planned for Tuesday then? Well a trip to Optimum Therapy and Performance Center
I was scheduled for two sessions this Week, well I didn't think it would help my imbalance problem
I could call and cancel this Morning but I want to go in person to tell the Doctor that I want to postpone for now
I tried to tell her before the first Visit that I didn't think it would find my physical problem and I still do not

And so, off to the Therapy place at 8:30, checked in, one of the Ladies came out, said she would do my Therapy that Day
And then I recited the long tale of why I wanted to postpone the Treatments until I saw the ENT Doctor
Of course she wanted to talk me out of it and also wanted to do her treatment of the Day and I declined
So I thanked them for their attention and advice and headed out for other parts

Stopped in at Minit Mart for my daily Lottos dose and then over to the 'Shear Palace' for a hair cut
It had been so long since the last one they had to use a Lawn Mower but I look pretty now
That was that, then I headed Home, stopped in at the Complex Office, told Boss Bob about my Dishwasher
He said Tom would be down later to check it out, I told him no hurry and headed down the Hill
And I put on a cup of Coffee to heat and then worked my Lottos... HAH! First one a $25 Win!
Tried the Second and another $25 Win... on a roll, but the Third was a DUD... one left, my favorite
So it was looking good, getting lots of good Letters but finally only a $5 Win, still a $35 Profit for the Day

And then what? a Long hot day ahead... saying it would top in the 90s the next few days or more
Decided I could try my luck some more so I took my Wins down to the Fast Stop for another Try
I traded in $55 for $30 Cash and $25 worth of Lottos, headed home in the heat... then in the 90s!
And then scratched off a $5, $10 and another $5, lost $5 0n that Deal... Oh well... always tomorrow

On the way out last time I saw that the transplanted Poblano was suffering a bit from the Direct Sunlight
I had watered it well on Monday but for the Sun and 90 plus Heat I propped a little Umbrella on a Deck Chair
Quite a sudden change of Climate for it since moving it outside, hope it can withstand the change

~ The Orphan Poblano doesn't like Bright Sun at 90+ Degrees ~

On into a very Hot afternoon, topped here about 96, really uncomfortable outside afer a few cooler Days
I added some Water to the Pepper in the Pot and some for the Tomato in the Pot, the rest in front didn't look so bad
Spent the rest of Day inside except about 5 p.m when the back Beds were in Shade, I hooked up the hose
And watered everything back there very thoroughly, the plants not looking much heat weary there
Planning to water everything out front on Wednesday then, only other thing planned is my Windshield install

The Mercedes came with a cracked Windshield from my Friend Bob, kinda bothers me as I drive
So the 'Safelite' Man is coming at 8 a.m. Wednesday to replace it, next I would like to have the Car roof repainted
The Paint is faded some on the Hood, Roof and Trunk, other than that the exterior looks good

After that... Water the front Plants and then... what? Another really hot Day in store

67 Degrees and Cloudy at 9 a.m. Monday, going to 82 and they say no Rain... Happy Indpendence Day!
And headed to the Price Chopper and the Fast Stop for Lottos and won NOTHING all over again
They were lining up for the 4th of July Parade on the Street behind the Price Chopper as usual
I don't have any urge to go Downtown this year and Video the Parade, done that a few times already
And the Same with the Carnival and Riverfest, I have Videos of several of each and all

Took a look at the Poblano Pepper in the AeroGarden... Looking better after moving out the Competition
Maybe they just didn't get along together, sometimes a Divorce makes thing better
And the Poblano I moved to a Pot out front seems to be happier with the situation too

~ The Poblano Pepper Plants the Day after being Separated ~

So on to around 11 a.m. getting bored as usual, no way to spend the best Holiday of the Year!
I Barbecued the Pork Spareribs on the First but I wanted to Barbecue something again today on the Fourth!
So back again to the Price Chopper, thinking Sliced Pork Shoulder or Chicken, lots of good sale Items
They had some nice looking Chicken Thighs, got a package of Six for less than $4.00, sure can't beat that

So back to the Ranchito... Lit the Burner, put on a Hickory 'Loglet' and back inside to trim the Chicken
Trimmed the Chicken, dusted it good with BBQ Dry Rub and back out to the Smoker, and the Burner was OUT!
AHA! Well I refilled my spare Tank about a week ago so the Day was saved, hooked up the full Tank and back in business

~ Smokin' Chicken Again on the Fourth! ~

So the Chicken in the Smoker at Noon, let it smoke for about three Hours, then wrap and into the Oven for an Hour
Then out with One for Dinner, Five to put away to join the other stuff, stuffed into the Freezer
I just can't eat as fast as I can Cook... and I love to Cook!

And so, to finish off a very satisfactory Independence Day... Smoked Chicken, Cornbread, Potato Salad
And Fresh picked Cucumbers in Vinaigrette like Mom used to make... But she didn't call them that
The Chicken, spicy, moist and tender, creamy Potato Salad, mellow Cornbread and crisp fresh Cucumbers
Whoever had it so good! I got it made in the Shade!... Happy 4th to You too!

OK then, I didn't go this Year but how about a Parade in Downtown Parkville in 2011, that was a good one
So I'll finish up the Day with an Old Corny Video... But I like this Home Town stuff... So!

~ Third Day of Independence Day Weekend! ~
~ And Still Raining on our Parade Sunday ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ Another Better Boys Tomato from the Pot ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Sunday Morning, 61 Degrees and it says 'Light Rain' but not at the Moment, looks like it might lighten up a bit
And what to do Today? Well all wet out back, that eliminates any Gardening, thinking maybe getting another Pot
And then planting that Smaller Poblano Pepper, see if it will grow out front maybe?

And then off to the Price Chopper, got Lottos and Ball Point Pens, my last one ran out
Back home, the Pen worked... the Lottos did not, where did all my good luck go anyway
And on the way back in I saw that nice Tomato in the Pot, not quite full ripe but I picked it anyway
It looked so inviting I was afraid someone might steal it, like the last One, and it will ripen fine on the Table

And by the bye... I switched to Progressive Insurance for the Mercedes and Blazer, gave me the best Deal
I don't like 'Flo' in their TV Commercials but Money talks louder than she does so I'll bear with it
When I had State Farm Insurance I was in their 'In Drive' Program, they monitor your driving with a little 'Spy'
And if they think you drive well enough they give you a Discount, so Progressive has the same sort of offer
You plug this little thing under your Dash and it tattles on you, I took out the State Farm gizmo and stuck in the 'Snapshot'
Sunday Morning I got an Email and it had a report already for Saturday, drove 1.91 Miles... (Price Chopper and back)
They give you a Discount to start and after 6 Months raise or lower your Premium, then you send it back

~ My new 'Spy in the Sky' ~

OK... And then off to Lowes for a Pot and more Potting Soil for my Orphaned Papper Plant
Found a nice BIG Pot for less than $10 and a broken open Bag of Soil on sale for half price
So I bought a new Home for Orphan Poblano for about $15... Hope it is happy in there
Back Home I drilled the drain Holes in the Bottom, filled it up with new Soil and popped the Pepper out of the Garden
It had nice long roots and a lot of them, I opened a hole to the Bottom of the pot to get them way down in
Then tamped in the Soil around the Plant and dragged it to it's new Home beside the Tomato in the Pot
And already it looks right at Home in it's brand new Pot and I am optimistic we'll get some Peppers

~ Poblano Pepper out of the AeroGarden and into the Pot ~

Then I took some Trash up to the Dumpster and thought I would detour on the way in and look out back
That Rain sure looked like it pepped things up, especially the Green Pepper Plants, popped one small Pepper off
It didn't look like it was going anywhere so I'll use it to add a taste to a Salad or whatever
And then one tiny Eggplant, I thought if I picked that one it might spur more to Bloom, I'll use it in some way

~ A Midget Eggplant and Pepper ~ Well I'll use them for Something ~

And while I was up there I got a Photo of the Cantaloupe Cage for Diane McQueen in California
She asked me once in a comment, you ever grow Melons?... Why Shore and I am trying again here

~ Cantaloupe Plants looking Real Good! ~

And that was again pretty much it for activities except TV and Dinner... are they 'activities'?
So Dinner was again more of those BBQ Ribs, I don't seem to ever run out of them, just a few at a time
I sliced and Panko Crumbed that little Eggplant, didn't even peel it, into the Fridge to 'set up'
It made only Six little slices so I sliced up a Small Potato also, to Deep Fry for Dinner
So... later... BBQ Ribs, more Marinated Cucumber Slices, those little Eggplant slices... they were Delish!
And when they were gone some Tater slices to finish off, an elegant repast for sure

And now Monday... Independence Day and no Plans except to take it Easy, a busy Week after that
So off for the Holiday and a BANG BANG to you too!

~ Second Day of Independence Day Weekend! ~
~ And it's Raining on our Parade all Saturday and Sunday ~

So, starting Saturday with a nice steady Rain, the Flowers and Gardens should like that
And... again another Windows 10 Insider Update after Two the same day on Thursday, must have had a bug on those
So I started the Upgrade on Dell Two, that finished and I started it on the old HP Standby
Then, I wanted my Lottos and some Krazy Glue for the Mercedes, the '300E' Name Plate fell off the back end
Picked up my Lottos and Glue headed back to scratch off just a $15 Win... The Glue will have to wait for a dry Day

And the Rain continued all Day and they were saying all Night and Sunday too, Enough Enough!
So then it was an all day 'Trying to find something to do' Day... And really not much to do
I was sitting there watching TV in the Afternoon, looking over at my Plants in the Aerogardens
Somehow one Poblano Pepper Plant grew over twice as Tall as the other one and I had the Grow Light raised above that one
And the Garden looked imbalanced, I decided to put the tall Plant in the Front Center Pod and tied it up
Later when the Garden beds out back dry up some I will plant the other Pepper Plant back there
Or if it doesn't look like enough room back there, I'll just put it in a Pot and see what happens

~ Poblano Pepper Plants ~ Tall Plant moved to Front Center ~

And that was just about all I can remember about Saturday... What a dull rainy boring Day all Day
Later I peeled and sliced up those Cucumbers I picked earlier, made some Vinaigrette
The Slices in a Bowl, Salt and fresh ground Black Pepper on top, then the Vinegar, Sugar and Basil
Snacked on those before my Cocktail at TV time, later hotted up some Dinner, those Smoked Ribs, ya know
A few Ribs on the Plate, a hunk of Buttered Cornbread and some 'Gift' Potato Salad.. yeah, just fine

And so, time slips by, now Sunday Morning and all dripping wet and dreary out there
Looks like a long, wet and boring Day all over again, they are dampening my 4th If July Weekend for sure

~ First Day of Independence Day Weekend! ~
~ Smoking Ribs for the Fourth on the First ~

~ Ribs Ready for the Smoker Friday Morning ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Friday July First and the Flags and Flag Fans are out front all over again, and the BBQ starts today!
The Ribs have been 'Dry Rubbed' and Marinating in the Fridge all night, into the Smoker at 10:30 a.m.
And then, taking a look at the Flags and Flag Fans... there is one Post without a Flag, but behind the Tree
But I thought it would balance out the View better if there was a Flag on each Post... So off to Walmart again

And they were sold out of the Flag I wanted, just the Plastic Poles left, so I headed next door to Lowes
And they had the Same kind as the last one I bought from Walmart except the Pole was White color
But you can't hardly tell it out in the Sunlight, and now each Post has it's own Flag

~ And Now there are Four ~

So the Day moved ahead, took the Ribs out of the Smoker at 1:30 p.m. after Three Hours, doing the 3,2,1 again
I don't know if it was that Process or the new BBQ Dry Rub I tried, but I hope it works as good as last time
Then I wrapped the Ribs in Foil, and into a 250 Degree Oven for the next Two Hours
Next a Margarita, and off to watch some TV Non-News or whatever disappointing Politics they are shovelng out for Friday

And the Clock moved on to 3:30 p.m. Time to take the Foil off the Ribs for the Final Hour in the Oven
After that I'll take them out to cool some, my Slab will be packaged for the Freezer, having a Burger for Dinner
I still have some BBQ Ribs from the last Smoking, these will just add to that stack in storage for a long time
The second Slab I promised to my Neighbor, he was so happy with the last sample of BBQ I gave him, now enough for him and his Wife

Waiting for my Ribs to finish, I got a call from my Mechanic Friend Bob, he asked what I was having for Dinner
I said I smell BBQ Ribs but they are for later and I will have a Burger, said 'What do you have to go with it'
Oh several things here... He had just been to a Company Party and had big bowls of Potato and Pasta Salad
Asked if I would like some... Why Shore! He was already heading my way, showed up, dished out a container of each
Then I had two large containers of Potato and Pasta Salad to go with my Burger and the BBQ Ribs later

~ Ribs just out of the Oven and Ready ~

Took the Ribs out of the Oven at 4:45 p.m. I let them cool enough to get them ready to deliver
Then I wrapped up a nice Slab in Foil and trotted down the Hill to present them to my Neighbor's Wife
I handed them to her, she got a whiff of the Aroma and said 'They Smell sooo Goood!, well they taste even better
Back up the Hill to Home, out to the Kitchen to cut the Ribs into serving portions, just the size for me
And then into Storage sacks and into the Fridge and Freezer

Decided then to take a Hike out back, I noticed a Cucumber about ready on Thursday, yeah it was ready and three smaller ones
So I picked those and headed back inside for my Burger, first then a Salad of Cucumber, green Pepper Onion and Ranch Dressing

~ Choose your Size and Shape ~ They all Taste Good ~

And to finish up a busy and interesting Day, I grilled my Burger and dished up some of that Gift Potato Salad, pretty good stuff
It was a pleasant and cooler Day for Friday, topped in the 80s, just took a look at the Weather for Saturday
Hey! says 70 at 5:30 a.m. and for later... Rain and a hgh of 73 predicted for te Day! We will freeze to Death!
So they are saying it will rain on our Parade on Saturday and Sunday but be nice and dry on the Fourth

And so... A Happy Independence Day to you too!

~ June Is Leaving Now ~
~ One more Medical Test on Thursday ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ Welcome to Camp El Pato ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Well now, a good night after the latest Dental experience, no pain since the Tylenol Wednesday at 1 p.m.
Had no great pain at any tme after that last Visit anyway, looks like a successful result from that ordeal
Now we wait for that to heal and try to figure how to pay for the replacement of those two Teeth
The prices the Dentist quoted were really way out of my ability to pay... How did Dental costs get so High?

Ok then, Thursday Morning... Firing up the Computer... Says 'Restart Required'... Aha another Windows 10 Update
So soon after the last one... Didn't see much new in that one... so I started the Install
That finally finished and I started writing my BLOG... But.. everything was crawling so slow
And some features of my HTML Editor wouldn't work, well that would certainly not do so I rolled it back
I had trouble similar to that on a previous update but the next one fixed it, now thinking of dropping the Insider Program

So what plans for the new Day, actually nothing until about 1 p.m. Another Medical Appointment
Still working on a fix for my Imbalance problem, nothing found so far to fix it, Two more tries scheduled
Today a trip to a 'Therapy' place for evaluation... I do not want any long term Therapy treatments
But they said there it would maybe help determine the cause... My personal opinion will be something else

And a late start for Outdoors, first a walk up the Hill in back to check the Crops, no Female Pumpkin Blooms
A couple Cucumbers coming on nicely, some big Tomatoes but not ripening yet, the Cantaloupes looking good
Then down the Hill and across the Street to get my Blazer and off to the Price Chopper
Got my Milk and Apple Juice, traded that $25 Lotto for $20 more, back to scratch off another $25 Win
And then, decided to give the back Garden Beds a good drink of Miracle-Gro to pep them up

Went out to hook the Miracle-Gro Sprayer up to the Hose, saw that a neighbor had set up a Tent back on the Hill
Probably the one that has the Canoe, just trying out the Tent... Then back in to turn on the Water
Then watered the Cucumber Bed, the Pepper Bed, the Tomato Bed and the Cantaloupe Bed with Miracle-Gro

And a catch up Photo of the Sweet Potato Vines, three at the Top now and more climbing, no place higher to go
Looks like a better crop of Potato Vines than the one in the Pot in 2014 producing Ten Potatoes in the Pot

~ Sweet Potato Vines over 12 Feet Tall ~

Then I dragged the Hose to the front on the Far side of the Building and down over the Wall of the Next Building
The hose was just not quite long enough for the Spray to hit the Plants I had planted over there I wanted to water
So I got my big Sprinkler can, filled and emptied it twice on the Plants, the heat had withered a lot of them

And then at 1 p.m. , the Event of the Day, to the 'Fun House'... Optimum Therapy and Performance Center
My Primary Doctor is sending me all over Town to try to find what my imbalance problem is, no one has found it so far
Had a MRI Brain Scan, a Doppler Carotid Ultrasound, Physical Therapy Exam, and Scheduled for an Ear Nose and Throat Exam
He had schedued another one at a Neurologist but I cancelled that Deal, had one last year that didn't help

So I checked in, filled out their Forms and then was diredted to a room by Brandi Jacksom, Doctor of Physical Therapy
There a lot of questions and then the fun began, stand there, do that, turn this way, do this and that
Lay on the Table, more turning, twisting, lift this, drop that, tighten your stomach and try this

And then that ordeal was over and I headed the two Miles back home to finish out the afternoon
A welcome Margarita after none Tuesday because of the Toorth Extraction, they said No Hot Drinks or Alcohol for 48 Hours
Well it wasn't 48 Hours yet but close enough for me, and then had a Glass of Wime or Two after that
That was about it for Thursday and the Last Day of June... Let's welcome in July on Friday... It is a double Pay Day!
