So, I headed over there at 9 a.m. was back home about 10:30 a.m. Stopped by the Price Chopper for Lottos
Won a $10 Ticket and went back for some more and of course lost them all, now what was the Agenda?
I had skipped Breakfast as usual so I just had an early Lunch, used some more of my Indoor Grown Lettuce
And another Hot Sunny Day and it looked like I better Water out front again, but first out back with the Sprinkler Can
I wanted to water the Beet Seed Tape again, not doing so fantastic so far, maybe too hot too quick?
After the watering Tuesday, on to the usual Afternoon non-activities, Cocktail, TV and a nice Dinner
And now here we go again.... Hi Ho Wednesday!
Then the Swiss Chard looked like it needed to be thinned down some, not that I need any more Greens just now
I gave one large Bag of Beet Greens to Pat on Monday to take Home and still have Two big Bags in the Freezer
But I snipped all the Larger Stems and Leaves off the Row of Swiss Chard to clean, snip and store<
And I ended up with a Big Pile of Chard Greens, relative of the Beet but with no Bulb and tastes pretty much the same
And then the end of that Story... Stopped in the Pharmacy on the way back, for my Script and took a Pill
Two hours later the swelling was going down, all gone by Bedtime, and still down and not painful at all Tuesday Morning
So than it was all Dinner and TV and feeling better... a Salad with that fresh picked Cucumber
Cherry Tomatoes, Sweet Onion, Green Pepper, Ranch Dressing... Oh yeah... And BBQ Ribs, French Fries and a Glass of Vino
The Day had a happy Ending after all... Now I go to see the Cardiologist today... but no big Deal
Then it was time to trek out back to check the Gardens and water the Nubbins I planted Saturday
And again the new Beet Seed Tape needed watering, then I spotted the first edible size Cucumber
I had to pick that for a Taste and show and tell on my BLOG, lots more Cucumbers are on the way now
So a thorough check of everything back there and then back inside
Well fresh Veggie Salad for sure, and how about a Baked Potato and some smoked Chicken and Cornbread... Sure!
So that finished out another good Day with a Movie and this time... con un vaso de 'Vino Tinto' (Red Wine)
Now on to a New Day and New Week and New Adventures... Off we go into the Wild Blue Somewhere!
I Made my Coffee, mixed my Apple Juice, checked my Bank, my Email, and Facebook then started in
Took some careful measuring and cutting, removing the old Tape and aligning the new one to the Table Edge
But I was all finished about 9 a.m. and it was looking a lot better, worth the Ten Bucks it cost
But that doesn't mean that it is going to sty hthat way, I'll try if while and see how I like that extra light>
OK, then it was around Noon and close to 90 Degrees and bright Sun, hooked up the Hose again
This time next door Building first to water my two new Roses in Pots, the Four Boxwoods and the Two Popcorn Roses
Everything the Landscaper planted originaly died out and now everything over there are those that I planted
So then down the Stairs and I watered everything I planted in front of my Building and that is a lot of stuff
And it takes a lot of water and time to give them all a good drink... all done and back in about 1:30 p.m.
OK, what about the Two Cannas I took up to the Complex Office on Wednesday, plenty hot up there too
Boss Bob has been gone since last Friday so I thought I better go give them a good Drink just in case
I filled up my big Watering Can, stuck it in back of the Blazer and tooted on up the Hill
Gave both Pots a good long Drink and then stopped by the Mail Boxes to get my Mail, back down the Hill to Home
And then... Time to get back inside, mix a nice cool Margarita and figger out 'What's for Dinner?'
Well I mixed my Margarita but went back outside to sip it on the Veranda where it was... Rather warm
I had noticed that the Thai Basil experiment in a Pot was drooping a lot that Morning
After watering it had perked back up quite a bit... It had Flowered a lot, supposed to harvest before that happens
So I decided to clip off all the Blooms and there were a lot, then I snipped off most all the larger Leaves
Put them in a Pie Plate and into the Oven to dry and store later
Now Sunday Morning... Got a phone Call from neighbor friend Pat Saturday, she had been away Visiting
And then very busy at the Annual Three Day Camp at the Nature Sanctuary, wants to come over this Afternoon
Then have an afternoon of catch up Talk about all that's been going on the past Week or so... Off we go!
Out front then to check the Sweet Potato Vines, looks like 16 Inches more and they will start climbing the Deck Rail
And one more Vine started climbing up from the Potato, looks like we sure will have some Taters later<
The Temp had crept up to 87 by 11 a.m. and the Tomato in the Pot looked thirsty, the Hose was around back
I had planned to water the Beet Seed Tape again so I hooked up the Hose to the Sink and headed out back
I watered everything out back thoroughly, then pulled the Hose around the side of the Building
Thought later I would water the Plants in front of the next Building and then all my stuff out front
But it was just too hot for me and I gave up that Idea and back inside for the rest of the Day
I did Harvest all the Lettuce Left in AeroGaren 5, now just the Mexibell Peppers started in there
Thought I would later make some more 'Wilted Lettuce' and headed to the Price Chopper for Green Onions and Bacon
Found a High Priced Bacon on a really good Sale, so then back Home I cooked the whole pound in the Oven
Gave me the 1/2 Cup of Bacon Grease I needed for the Lettuce later, then cut the Nubbins off the Onions
A Project then for early on Saturday, plant those Nubbins back there with the others now growing
And with one more glass of Wine and a mini Snickers Bar... that wound up another nice Friday
On through a slow slow Day, didn't get out back at all even in fine Weather, might check back there first thing Friday
I want to keep that new Beet Seed Tape moist and hope it will do better than the last one which did nothing
And nothing of any interest (even to me) the rest of the Afternoon, just piddling here are there
Did get to talk to Brother Jim on his Birthday, he says he isn't doing too well, well he is 86 after all
I did put out my recently harvested Beets to simmer for dinner, they were small, just cut in half to serve
I got a ton of Beet Greens out of that last Harvest, but just a few Beets to pickle and the ones to simmer
To serve the Beets I just added Butter, Salt and Pepper, pretty bland, A dollop of Cider Vinegar would have helped
But anyway they were a change and they say 'so good' for you, but the Greens were a lot tastier
To wind up the Day, my mechanic Friend Bob brought my Blazer back after repairs, his Son drove too
He left the Blazer and also the Mercedes he sold me, needed his Son to drive him home
So I have a Spare now if the Blazer conks out, but the hassle awaits, Insurance, Title and License
Details, Details, always too many Details.. Anyway Thursday gone, and here's Friday
That was it for the Day for Garden attending and outside maintenance duties, it does keep me busy<
On into a very long and kind of boring Afternoon with those negative News reports and lousy Politics
I had my Margarita, then several Glasses of Wine waiting for Dinner and to see my Blazer returned
My Mechanic friend was supposed to bring my repaired Blazer back and waiting for his Son to take him back Home
That meant than the other potential Buyer was not buying the Mercedes and looks like now I have a Spare
Well, the price is right and it is only 9 years older than my Blazer which itself it well over the Hill
It runs real good, gets better Milage and the Body is free from rust which my Blazer is not
So it looks like it would be a good Spare if and when my Blazer conks out again... And like the Song
It has Decals on the rear that proclaim 'I've been Everywhere Man!'
So I got my Lottos then a stop back by the Price Chopper for some things abd headed home to scratch off my Fortune
But it sure wasn't in that short stack of Lottos I got at the Minit Mart, zero winners out of Three tries
So what then before it got too Hot, maybe mow out back a little, In front and back of my Garden Beds
The Mowing crew doesn't do a very close job there, I want it short to keep away the Bugs and whatever
So I plugged in my Electric Cord and headed back to do my Chore, and it was a bit of that
First I mowed beside the Buiding where my Popcorn Roses and Rhubarb are, then around the Garden Beds
The Mowing Crew doesn't get very close to the Ditch on the back side so I mowed that down pretty good
All done for the Morning and back in at Noon, worked up a good sweat, needed to cool down and rest up
Anyway, Fresh baked Cornbread with Butter, Smoked Chicken, Potato Salad, glass of Vino Tinto... Yeah
Ok, Tuesday adjourned... Wednesday Meeting convened... Let's go!
So again a Gorgeous Day started, Sunny and heading to 85 they say, what can I do to pass the Time?
Well first, a catch up Trip out back to see what's what... I have to keep up with the Plants
I didn't 'water in' the Beet Seed Tape I planted on Sunday so that was the first Item of Business
Filled my Sprinkler Can and headed around back, stopped to snap a Photo of the new Melon Seedlings
I planted Six Seeds in that Hole and now Five Seedlings have Germinated, hope they do better than the first try
So I mixed a Manhattan, watched some TV, then rejuvenated, back out in late afternoon to water some more
First the Roses and Rhubarn n te side, then all the beds in back and a lot of watering was needed
All finished, back inside to wind down the Day, TV, a Glass of Vino Tinto and Dinner and Beddy Bye... Goodnight Irene
What's today now? ...Oh Tuesday, what today? whoever knows?
Anyway Bob brought his Wife's 'Note Book' Computer with him, seems it picked up some troublesome Malware
So that was my Project for the Morning, had to charge it up to get it going, then read the Manual to see how it worked
When I got it going the first thing I did was to get online and download the 'SUPERantiSpyware' Portable Edition
Then I copied the Program to a flash Drive and installed in on the Note Book, and did a full scan
Finally finished and it found and removed several hundred Items, got online then and it seemed to run fine
In the Tomato Bed, I pulled some Weeds, then dug the Soil up some with my Trowel, then layed down a path of Potting Soil
Sort of tamped that down a bit then layed out the Beet Seed Tape then covered it with more Potting Soil
Maybe that will give them a jump start with that Miracle-Gro super Vitaminized Soil... Ya think?
So another Weekend to waste, first a check on the Indoor Gardens, all looking good
Especially the Poblano Peppers and Golden Cherry Tomatoes, looking healthy, the Mexibell Peppers just starting
And so, nice Morning, nice Forecast, time to get out and check the Crops, first out front
That Sweet Potato Plant is really going at it this Year... About Seven Vines climbing now
The lead Vine is now at 61 inches, grew 3 and 1/2 Inches overnight, the rest trying to catch up
If this turns out like the one in 2014 there will be sweet Potatoes in the Pot again, Ten in there then
Back down to the Garden Beds, around the end to the Cantaloupe Cage and see Two more Seedlings popped up
And the other seedlings planted Earlier growing nicely now, give us a little more Sun, please
Good Weather again, Sunny and heading over 80, out to check the Gardens again
The Sweet Potato in the Pot really doing Great! 6 1/2 Inches of Growth since Wednesday
Now at 57 1/2 Inches, only 32 Inches more needed to reach the floor of the Deck above
So back down to take a peek at the Cantaloupes, first planted look OK, new Seeds planted May 27th are just emerging
Second time I have tried Melons in my Parkviile Gardens, last year I planted several Transplants that did nothing
I used to have great luck with Cantaloupes back in my Saint Joseph Gardens, now almost 20 years ago
Off to Tremont Imaging at 10:30, checked in, a short wait, not many there, and back to the Torture Chamber
So I was wrong about the Needle, she said my Primary Doc had not ordered a 'Contrast' but they reccomended it
That means an IV Needle to inject the Contrast medium... Oh well, didn't hurt much at all
Then she said it would take Thirty Mnutes! You kiddin me? Lay still on my back for Thirty Mnutes, but I did it
I have had several CT Scans but I guess I never had an MRI... You ever had one... talk about NOISE!
She said it would be noisy and she put Headphones on me to block out some, helped a little I guess
Anyway the procedure fired up, the Machine already making plenty of noise before starting
Then the Imaging started and she was sure right, sounded like I was in a Star Wars Invasion
A series of loud noises, them more louder ones, then different and some louder, then some a bit less
On and on forever... No pain but sure not really any fun, finally she said all done.... Hally Loo Yah!
Eased off the Table, still hard to walk after that Lupron shot but I made it, toddled out to my Blazer and headed Home
So then the rest of the Day was pretty slow, not feeling like going up that Hill in back, hurt to walk much
I did a little more editing on the next Video I will do on Pat's Garden, have the Intro and Ending finished
Now just wait until the Flowers are Bloomimg and I go to Video the Garden Part
The only Garden work I did here was to take the Harvested Pods out of the AeroGarden 4 and clean it out
Now two Three Pod Gardens empty and waiting for the next Crop Idea, think I have one now
Now Friday... HAH! No appointments and no plans, just another kick-back Day, might check the back Gardens again
So... Hi Ho... Hi Ho... it's off to nowhere I go...
Headed out at 8:45 for a 9:15 Appointment, got there right on time, checked in quickly
And in a shorter time than Usual, they called me in, got the 'sample' delivered and into the Exam Room
The usual Questions and Tests and then time for the Doctor... and he came in quicker that usual
Says my PSA Nunber was still low but he still advised another Lupron Shot... OK... Darn it
So he left, and the Nurse cam armed, Doggone that Syringe looked BIG! Drop 'em and bend over
Then Zing and she was all dome, hardly felt that one at all.. (but it is aching now) (and will for a week)
OK, all done with that for Six Months... What's Next? Yeah an MRI Brain Scan for Thursday
And next week, a Sonogram at the Cardiologist's Office... 'Balance' problems... Hope they can fix it
And back at El Pato Rancherito, snipped Lettuce for a Sandwich, the last from the Garden Three
That makes two empty AeroGardens to plant with something if and whenever
So out front to to do a Sweet Potato report, grew 8 Inches more, there were Three Vines climbng at first
Now I see at least Six Vines climbing... Top one was at 43 Inches on Monday, May 30 and now at 51 Inches, Wednesday Jume 1
Looks like they are pickng up climbing Speed. It was 2.6 IPD and now it is 4 IPD... When does it hit the Deck?
First the Cucumber Bed, the Radishes looking better, Onions showing a tiny bit of 'hair' growth
And the Cucumbers looking great! Blooming and Climbing. Cukes here we come, and I think I can keep the Varmints out this Year
So that was all the Gardening for the Day, time to go in for a Margarita and wind down the Day
And it was not a pleasant night, I don't ever remember that Lupron shot area aching so bad...
But they are all painful for quite some time, eventually go away but the 'Hot Flashes' go on forever
So up early on Thursday, even hard to walk with that sore butt! But better as the morning wore on
And back today to get that MRI Brain Scan but maybe there won't be any needles with this one
Anyway off to the new day and the new adventures, some good and some not so good... but... Ever On!
So now the Day before Pay Day and doing better on expenses than last Month and maybe June will be better
If for once I could only hit the Lotto 'Big One' and pay off all my acounts I wouldn't have to go to Heaven, I would be there!
So off to the Price Chopper to search for my Pot of Gold, and did find a couple Grains... a $55 Win
I had traded in a $15 Win for that so that looks like a profit of $40 don't it? Well close anyway
Back down to the other Beds, new Cantaloupe Seeds not germinating yet, ones planted earlier going slowly
Next in the Tomato Bed, one nice big Tomato in a race with one out front to see who ripens first
The Neighbor's 'Roma' doing OK in there, the Onion 'Nubs' doing good too, a few more Beets getting bigger
Then, the Pepper Bed, Swiss Chard finally beginning to show some nice Growth, Cucumbers in there Climbing the End netting
The Peppers and Eggplant not doing so great... And the Beet Tape I planted in back doing nothing yet
Last the Cucumber Bed, the Cukes doing fine, the Radishes just so-so, the Onions in there still just showing green 'hairs'
On the way back in, noticed the 'Red Stemmed' Rhubarb was ooking better than ever, more Pie son, maybe
Then, 11:30 a.m. Sun came out nice and bright, was Cloudy all morning, now if it would just stay that way and wake up my Garden
The Weather was fine for outside doings but there wasn't anything that needed doing except snipping old Rose Buds
But I wasn't in the mnood for that, would like to mow some in back but still too wet
So it was just another long Afternoon to laze around and be bored with the Politics on TV
I made a Sandwich for Lunch using a lot of My Kitchen Lettuce, will be down to one Garden Producing soon
Garden One is now empty and Garden Three soon will be, but Garden Four is still full of new Lettuce
Made some fresh Potato Salad for Dinner, then hotted up some more of those Last Smoked Ribs, very tasty stuff
Then another old Movie to finish off the Day, now off to another Doctor on Wednesday...
