~ Ordered New Golden Cherry Tomatoes for Garden Five ~
~ Picked and Cooked fresh Beet Greens ~

~ Golden Cherry Tomatoes on Order ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

First thing Saturday Morning, got online and ordered 'Golden Cherry Tomatoes' from Amazon Prime
Say guaranteed Delivery Monday, and they usually come by USPS so it will be Monday Afternoon
And then... AreoGarden 5 will back up and running with a new Crop, hope they do better than the 'Heirlooms'

Then... I checked on my new Crop of Poblano Peppers, only one Pod Germinated... I was about ready to call for replacement
But EUREKA! It is finally emerging after 17 Days of anticipation... Label says Germinates in 7 to 12 Days
Now just have to watch that the Lettuce I left in that Garden does not shade the little Poblano Plants

~ My Second Poblano Pepper ~ Saturday Morning ~ Sunday Morning ~

And again, more success, the last Lettuce Pod I planted in Garden 4 just coming up, replaced one failed Pod
I harvested a lot of Leaves from Garden 7 on Saturday, now in a Bag in the Fridge to keep a little while
I'll have to use it up in Sandwiches before it starts to wilt, doesn't last long in the Fridge
Now I have Twelve Lettuce Pods working with Romaine Lettuce in Gardens 1, 3 and 4, should be way more than enough

~ All the Lettuce Pods Working Now in Gardens One, Three and Four ~

The Morning was moving along fast, had Brunch instead of Breakfast, made a Sandwich with some of that Lettuce
Nice and Crisp after a night in the Fridge, more in there and more growing every Day now

And then, a chilly Day outside but I decided to trim the Weeds around my Garden Beds out back
Hooked up my Electric Trimmer and got with it, all done quickly, maybe twenty minutes or so?
Checked the Beets then, and some bulbs forming and lots of Leaves, well they are edible too
I went in for my big stainless steel Bowl and my Kitchen Shears, snipped a bowlful of leaves
Took those back inside, set it in the Sink and filled with fresh Water to rinse, now I needed Bacon

Back to the Price Chopper for Bacon, on Sale of course... Some Sweet Onions and Garlic too
Then set that aside and mixed my Margarita and a long afernoon of TV again

Later time to get those Beets Greens going, rinsed again then out on a Towel to drain some
Then snipped the Beet Stems and Leaves, sliced Onions, chopped Garlic, snipped the Bacon and into the pan to Crisp
Next the Onions, then the Garlic, and then the Beet Greens, Salt, Red Pepper Flakes, Sugar and Vinegar
And let that sautee slowly for a half hour or so on low heat, looking good then

~ Beet Greens from This ~ To This ~ To This ~

Dinner Time, Nuked up a Smoked Chicken Leg, and some Buttered Cornbread, a dish of those Greens, a Glass of Vino Tinto
Then back to the TV to enjoy my Feast with a Movie... And GOOD! Did Mom ever make Greens? I can only remember Spinach
Anyway, the Greens were excellent, and more to cook when I harvest the Beets, don't throw away those beet Tops!
Even the ones you buy at the Store, if the Tops are fresh enough, snip them and cook them, good and good for you!

Now Sunday? What are we gonna do on another Sunday? Lemme get at it, I'll find something

~ Watch Out! ~ It's Friday the 13th! ~
~ Hoed Weeds in my Pompkin Patch ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ Pumpkins still looking Better ~ And Blooming ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Friday the Thirteenth, maybe a Lucky Day for me with my Lottos... I sure do need some
And it was a pretty nice Day again on Thursday, Sun is up already and in the 70s later they say
Buit Mike Thompson, Fox 4 Weather, says maybe T-Storms late afternoon, really don't need more wet at the moment

Back to the AeroGardens... I planted Two Poblano Pepper Pods in Garden 7 on April 27th
And on May 9th one of the Pods germinated, still waiting after 15 Days for the Other
I did plant one of the Fresh Seeds from my Store bought Poblano and trying to see if that one will Germinate

~ Poblanos Planted April 27 ~ One up May 9th ~ Still Waiting for Number Two ~

What gardening needed to be done on Friday? Took another look at my Pumpkin Patch, needed weeding
And the Plant that was Blooming, the Bloom has faded, and another Plant set a Blossom
As I said earlier, the Blossoms only last one Day, as the Window open for Pollenationg is narrow
So I got my Hoe and headed up to scrape out the Weeds, now... that looks better, bring on the Pumpkins

~ This Thursday Bud gave up ~ A new Bud on another Plant on Friday ~

That was all the Gardening outside for Friday... What else? Got a letter from a friend in the lock up
As usual... 'Can ya send me a little Cash'... Well if ya got it... give it.. so back to the Price Chopper
I cashed in the single $5 Winner I got Friday Morning, got a $20 Money Order, bought $23 worth of Tickets
Mailed the Money Order, back home to scratch the Lottos, won $38... So give a little get a little back

It was sometime after Noon by then, a little early but I was thirsty and thought a Margarita would be nice
So I mixed my Margarita and sat out front sipping it in gorgeous Weather and watching a couple College Guys move in Upstairs
Now we have what looks like a pretty good bunch in this Unit, the young Lady next door to me
The two young Girls in the Apartment above me, now two College Guys living next door to them, hope they are quiet

After a bit, back inside for some TV Catchup... and put out a Bratwurst and Bun to thaw for later
And... It was Sunny and warm all Morning, then it was 82 Degrees at 2 p.m. and starting to Cloud up
Then a little after 4 p.m. it got Cloudier, started to sprinkle... then a peal of Thunder and it started to pour
And we had a really heavy Rain for about 15 Minutes, then all quiet again at 4:30 p.m.
And, I was sitting there looking at the Tomatoes in Garden 5 and 6, a few nice ones still coming on in Garden 6
But only a few tiny ones in Garden 5 and it was getting way overgrown for the AeroGarden so I decided to dump it
I picked all the little Tomatoes, one almost ripe, the rest Green, I ground all of them up and added to my Relish Jar
Then I clipped all the Foliage off the Plant, dumped it in a Bucket, pulled the Pods out of the Grow Bowl
Now on Saturday, Today, I'll empty out the Grow Bowl, clean it up for the next Crop

~ Last Look at the Heirloom Cherry Tomato Plant ~ Plant gone and ready for Clean Up ~

And that was about it for Friday the lucky 13th... Another productive and fun Day, poured a Glass of Wine
Grilled my Brat, dished up some Potato Salad, back to the TV for some more Colombo Reruns

Now Saturday Morning... First thing I got online and ordered some new Yellow Cherry Tomato Poda
They will be here Monday afternoon and that AeroGarden 5 will be back in Business...

~ Last of the Heirloom Cherry Tomatoes ~ Golden Cherry Tomatoes on the Way ~

OK a new Day ahead with new Adventures, I shall first go win the Big One and then find something fun to do

~ Oh Say can you See by the Dawn's Early Light ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Was talking about my Lettuce Pod in Garden 4 on Wednesday and what I did to try to fix it
I had transferred one failed Pod to Garden 7 and put a new Pod in Garden 4
And later checking that failed Pod, it germinated in Garden 7 so I put it back in Garden 4
Took out the other failed Pod from Garden 4 and put in into garden 7 to see if it would wake up also
Now five seedlings are in Garden 4 and if the New Pod germinates in Garden 4, I'll have all six Pods working again
And there is still that other failed Pod sitting in Garden 7, if it wakes up I'll just leave it there

And... on to Thursday, not a clue as to what this Day holds... Yet.... but as I write it is only 6 a.m.
Just Posted Wednesday's BLOG and working on this Thursday one... What to do now? Work a Crossword or two?
Oh, I didn't mention yesterday that I got another Windows 10 Insider Build 14342, seems I get one every Week
This one did fix a Problem I couldn't resolve on my HP, now that one is fixed

Another nice Sunny Day but starting out a bit on the cool side but not going to 80 Today like Yesterday
I was checking my Pumpkin Patch Tuesday and it looked like there were several Buds on one the Plants
I trotted up there again on Thursday Morning and yeah, a male Blossom on there, and several more Plants Budding
The Male Blossoms start first and don't produce Pumpkins, that's the Female Flower and there are fewer of them
And the Bloom only stays on for one Day so a Bee has to find it and pollenate it.. or no go

~ Is this a Bud? ~ Yes it was, Now a Bloom ~

The Plants out front are looking great so I got anther Photo from the Drive Next Door
Then I thought maybe a catchup Video so I started on that, kept me busy most of the Morning
I edited it, burned a Blu-ray DVD for me, then uploaded it to Vimeo for everyone else (that might want to see it)
Looks pretty good on Vimeo HD but looks better on a Blu-ray DVD on my Smart TV...Yeah!

And then time for another Afternoon Margarita... I do like that tart fresh Lime Juice in there, so refreshing
Oh? Ya say the 100% Blue Agave Tequila tastes good too... Well maybe that adds to it, ya spose?
So then time to hunt up some Dinner, so much in the Freezer, what shall we Thaw today?... I'll find something

~ And a Stormy Morning on Wednesday ~
~ Then Sunny another Nice Day ~

~ Popcorn Roses doing Better than Ever! ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Well the Weatherman was right about Wednesday Morning and I kind of wish he wasn't
We've had about all the Rain we need for this Week, it's still muddy on the Hill and I wanted to mow
The Mowing Crew Boss Bob hires was here Tuesday Evening and they got some some work done back there
So... I heard Thunder Boomies just a little after I got up at 5:30 a.m. and still going on at 7 a.m
I just finished and Posted Tuesday's BLOG and started on this one and the Rain sounds heavy out there

And then, checking around the AeroGardens first thing, having a slight problem with a few Pods
I bought a Lettuce Pod Kit with 7 Pods, started Six of them in Garden 4 and only Four germinated
So, I had that extra Pod and put it in Garden Four, took the failed Pod and put it in Garden 7
See if that Failed Pod will respond in a few more days or if the new one in Garden 6 will go

And then... the Poblano Peppers in Garden 7, only one germinated so far, two more days still no go
So I had an Idea, start some of my new Poblano seeds in an extra Pod with new Sponge, see what that does
I placed that one temporarily in one of the empty spaces in Garden 7... Now the Clock is ticking

And the Rain stopped like the Man said, and off to the Fast Stop at 10 a.m. But.... Wait a minute!
Some idiot left the Driver's Side Window open and then we had three hours of Rain... Oh Woe!
But.. not so bad as I thought, I got a Pillow to sit on and a large Towel to lean back on and away we went

And down to the Fast Stop, back with $20 worth of Tickets and scratched off a Total of $10... Woe again
Sun was out then and I rolled all the Windows down and opened the back Gate to dry out the Blazer

On to a better looking Day then... Up in the back to check on things and most everything looked good
On the way to the Stairs a peek at the Sweet Potato in the Pot, and all three Vines climbing now

~ Sweet Potato March 15th ~ Now on the Way Up for Sure ~

In the Beds out back... in Bed Number One... Radishes look even better, Cucumbers look OK, Onions still not up yet
Second Bed over, Peppers look good, Eggplants don't look too happy for now, maybe they don't like all that Rain either
Chard in that Bed not growing much yet, neither are the Turnips in the Back, Radishes in the Center are coming up

Third Bed, things looking better there, Tomatoes doing nicely so far, Beets look better every Day
Then one last look up at the Top of the Hill, yeah, looks like that Pumpkin is getting ready to Bloom
And on the way back in, the Better Boys Tomato in the Pot is looking better than the ones in back

~ Now Two Tomatoes on this Plant ~

That was all the Garden Action for the Day, on then to wind up the Afternoon and Evening
And nothing going on of much interest then either... but turned into a very nice Weather Day again
Now Thursday Morning... And what great News can we dream up for another Day and supposed to be a really Nice one!

~ First Lettuce from the Replacement Pod ~
~ Looks like the Gardens liked Monday's Rain ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ Lettuce from the Replacement Pod ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Well... where was I? Yesterday I picked a few Leaves from that replacement Lettuce Pod
Looks like it is in that rapid growth mode again, have to snip a few Leaves every Day for awhile
I used those Leaves on my Burger on Monday Evening, adds a bit of texture and crunch

And so, off on my Lottos hunt after a lengthier Morning Computer session than usual
Hit the Service Counter for my Monday Lottos, back to scratch off a $15 Win, I'll go back to try to lose that
But before that, a trot up the Hill again to check the Gardens and looking better every Day!
A peek on how my Neighbors Tomato is doing in my Tomato Bed and looking like it likes it there... Yeah!

~ Neighbors Roma Tomato Monday and Tuesday Morning ~

Then checking on the Cucumber Bed where my new Crop of Radishes is doing well
The Rain on Monday and the Sun today on Tuesday will give them a boost... but no sight of the Onions yet

~ Radishes looking Good ~ Be a couple Weeks til Harvest ~

And then way up to the top of the Hill to check the Pumpkins, coming along slowly now
I think maybe a little more Rain than they like the last couple weeks... but... are those Buds there
It sure looks like that Plant is getting ready to Bloom, but the first Flowers are mostly Male
And usually a lot more Male Blooms than Female and the Female Bloom makes the Pumpkin

~ Looks like Flower Buds on my Pumpkin Plant ~

And what for the Rest of the Afternoon? Make a frame for the Cantaloupe Cage, the Cage alone is kind of wiggly
So I needed three 8 foot 1 X 2s to make the Frame, headed back to Lowes again for those
Then back Home, went around back and dragged the Cage to the Porch to work on, nice and solid and in the shade
Didn't have to cut two of the Slats, the cage is 8 feet long, I cut the other one about in half
Then screwed the four pieces together then stapled on the Cage... And dragged it back out to the Patch

~ New Frame on the Cantaloupe Cage ~

Now it is a bit more sturdy to lift off and tilt back for access... Looks better too
And I see three more Seedlings popped up overnight, now Three on the Left and Five on the Right
Back in at 4 p.m. Time then for a Margarita and some TV News catchup

So... What's for Dinner, still have lots of that last Smoked Chicken in the Freezer, that's really good stuff
There is some Cornbread in there too, that goes good with Chicken and I had several little Tomatoes
Thawed a hunk of that Cornbread, hotted up the chicken with some KC Masterpiece BBQ Sauce
Then sliced up the Tomatoes, on with a little Kosher Salt and Sweet Basil, no need for Dressing on those

~ Four Toms from Garden 6 ~ One from Garden 5 ~ Fresh Tomato Salad with Kosher Salt and Sweet Basil ~

Nuked up that hunk of Cornbread with Butter on top, a side Dish all to itself
A Glass of Vino Tinto and then back to the TV with that Feast, the way to end another good Day

~ Cantaloupe Popped up Monday ~
~ Poblano Seedling Emerged ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

And up and at 'em again real early, did my Computer messing around and then set out for my Fortune
Hit the Price Chopper this time, bought $20 worth, back Home to scratch off only a $10 Win
Stopped by the Office on the way back, Boss Bob really liked my Choice of Plants for the Office

Went next Door to check on my new Roses, looking good, had my Shears and I snipped off a few old Buds
One of the Neighbor Girls was out front, planting her Veggies for the Season... She had one extra Tomato plant
She asked if I had a Pot that she could use, nope, all filled up now, but there was a spot in my Tomato Bed
A corner where it just might have room to grow, it is a 'Roma' and they do not get huge, so she planted it there

~ Neighbors Roma Tomato Planted in my Garden Bed ~

And a peek at AeroGarden 7 with the survivor Lettuce Pod and two Poblano Pods, been waiting on those
The Lettuce is really growing fast now, can start snipping that for Sandwiches any Day now
Going to have to keep the Lettuce Leaves from shading the Poblanos until they get some Height

~ And on the 11th Day One Poblano Pepper Popped up ~

And.... I was reading online about growing Poblanos, says Six to Twelve Days to germinate
So mine did make the Deadline, I didn't want to have to ask for replacement Pods
And thinking ahead, I might want to grow some more, read about growing them from the Fruit
So I headed back to the Price Chopper to buy a Poblano Pepper, got a nice big one for 62 Cents
They said to take out the Seeds, dry on a paper Towel for 24 Hours, then seal in a Baggy, good for 4 Years
So I thought I would try that process... And then Cook that Poblano for Dinner... Hah! Got an idea

~ Poblano Pepper ~ Seeds ~ I'll Stuff and Cook it ~

Well, I checked online for Poblano Recipies, most all said to char and remove the Skin, that's a bit tedious but I did it
Then I browned some Sausage and filled the Pepper, wrapped it up in Foil and it's waiting to be sampled
But for Dinner I had another Lotto Prize Burger wirh Potato Salad and back to the TV

And so, I flipped here and there for a TV Re-run or Movie on Netflix and U-Verse and couldn't get interested
So how about some Music, checked out You Tube on my Smart Hub and this one popped up
"Andre Rieu - Live in Maastricht 3 (2009), Full concert"... Ok let's try that
Well yes, WUNDERBAR! Fantastic Staging, tremendous Crowd, exhilarating Music of several Genres
And it went on for HOURS! I watched all Evening and still did not finish the entire Program
That's the best thing I have seen or heard in Person or on TV or anywhere! I was fascinated...
So that kept me going way past my usual bedtime, imagine that... I stayed up until 10 p.m.!

So that wound up another good Day, seems everyday lately has been a good Day, well this is MY Season... SPRING!
Let's get back out and do something fun again today!

~ A Stormy Afternoon ~

~ New Roses for my Neighbor Building ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Sunday Morning... Up and at 'em... What to do today? Saying T-Storms but Bright and Sunny at 8 a.m.
No plans yet, off to get my Loser Lottos, got a Photo of my Roses on the way back in, better than ever
Have four of those 'Knock Out' Roses in front, doing better this Year, what? better Weather or what?
Then another Idea, my Building front looks so good but the Building next Door looks so bad
I already planted four Boxwoods there and two Popcorn Roses, looking some better but needed more
How about a couple 'Knock Out' Roses for over there... I planted Two a couple Years ago but they gave up
The Ground in front there is all clay and rocky and plants have not done very good there
So... my new Idea... How about putting in Planters? nice big ones full of good Potting Soil... Yeah

And so, off to Lowes again about 10 a.m. now clouding up some but no Rain yet, looks like maybe later?
So I got me a Cart, starting roaming around, Hey! a nice 'Whisky Barrel' type of Planter and a really good Price
I picked up Two of those and a couple Bags of Potting Soil, then hunted for 'Knock Out Roses'
I found them, picked out a Couple that looked like they might do, loaded up and headed Home

Pulled in next Door and unloaded, then Home for my Shears and Trowel and back to start in, easy enough
Just positioned the Planters, dumped in a few Inches of Soil, set the Roses in on top and then Filled up with Soil
Wah Lah! all done and looking a lot nicer a little before Noon, back inside to start this BLOG

~ The Way it Was ~ One Rose Planted ~ The Way it Is ~

And not yet quite finished next Door... See that ugly black Underlayment peeking up?
I had that all covered up a few years back when I did some other Landscaping over there
So I'll trot back over there with my Shears and Rake sometime... Make it all look some better

And just after I finished my Projact for the Day next Door it started to sprinkle
On into the Afternoon with a steady soaking Rain and a few Boomers off in the Distance
So I didn't have to water in my new Rose Plants next Door, maybe did some good for my Garden too

The usual afternoon and evening except for the continuing Rain, made up some really good Potato Salad
And I hotted up a couple more of those BBQ Chicken Legs, and also really good, Smoked just right this time

So that wound up the Weekend, and a pretty nice one except for the dreary Sunday Afternoon and Evening
Now they are saying T-Storms for Monday also, Oh well... And Boss Bob should be back Today
He hasn't seen the new Office Flowers yet, I think he will like the arrangement there
And he doesn't know about my new Rose Project, I want to see how long it takes for him to notice

Anyway, off to a new Day and New week, and back to my Gardens inside and out

~ Watering Day out Back Again ~
~ Chicken Smoking Day ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ Sweet Potato Vines Climbing ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Saturday Morning, 61 Degrees at 6:30 a.m. Going to 82 later, another Gorgeous Day in store
And what planned for the new Day? Maybe water the new Seedlings in back, maybe mow some more at the top of the Hill
But first, fill up the Sprinkler Can then up the Hill to the Complex Office to water the new Dahlias

Then to the Price Chopper for some Lottos, never mind... no winners on Saturday (so Far)
Next, time to hook up the Hose and trot back up the Hill to water everything up there
Got a new Photo of the Sweet Tater in the Pot on the way, starting to climb a bit more every Day
More Radishes popped up, and all in a straight line using that Seed Tape, that's the way to go
No sign of the Onions in that Bed yet though... Cucumbers going nowhere fast also

Next Bed, Most all looking pretty good, could be better, next the Tomato bed with the Beets
One Tomato getting fat, about an inch across so far, Tomatoes doing better than last Year at this time
And I want to start pulling those Beets but need to hold off til they get some size... Then Beet Pickles!

So the watering all done, I was out of the mood to mow then, so what else to do all day?
Beautiful BBQ Weather, let's smoke some Chicken, back to the Price Chopper to see what was on sale
Hey! Lookee there... Nice big Chicken Leg Quarters for $1.39 a Pound, that should do it
Bought two Four-Packs, back Home to rinse and trim, then dust well with BBQ Dry Rub and ready to Smoke

~ Dry Rubbed and Ready to Smoke ~

Out to light the Burner, set on a little log of Hickory Wood and back in to get the Chicken
Back out with the Chicken, placed it on the Grill, closed the Lid and away we Smoke at 1:45 p.m. or so

Waiting for the Chicken to Smoke, checked the new Lettuce Crops in the Kitchen
Finally Garden 4 Lettuce is popping up, at least Three Pods anyway, the rest should be up on Sunday

~ Three Pods up and Three more to Go ~

And so, the Chicken had been Smoking outside since 2 p.m. Went out about 5 p.m. to bring it in
The Painter who helps out here was upstairs working, he was packing up to leave
He had been enjoying my Smoking Aroma all afternoon and let me know about it, I asked him if he would like some
He says you don't even have to ask... I went in to get some Foil, wrapped up two nice Quarters for him
Then back inside with the rest, this time I didn't brush on BBQ Sauce, just set one Quarter in the Oven to hold warm
Then let the rest cool down to store later in the Freezer, then what else to get ready for Dinner?

~ In The Smoker ~ Smoked and Ready ~

I had some Napa Cabbage in the Fridge, made up a dish of Cole Slaw with that
Had some Corn Bread in the Freezer, got out a hunk of that to thaw and warm up later
Back to the TV until Dinner time, then that Chicken Quarter on a Plate, hotted up the CornBread with Butter
And then back to the TV with my Chicken, Cole Slaw and Cornbread... and a glass of Vino Tinto
Dug into those Goodies... and that was the best Smoked Chicken I have done in a long time
Like they say, so falling off the Bone Tender and delish... Oh Yeah... and lots more in the Fridge for later

So another really good Day, can we have another for Today? Now off to Sunday!

~ Ever Onward and Upward! ~

~ New Radish Crop Emerging ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ Project for Friday ~ Monrovia Dahlias at the Office ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Friday Morning another nice Day forecast... 50 something to start going to 77 later... Super!
No plans except to water some more and maybe mow some more... So off to get my Lottos, only won $15
Boss Bob, Complex Owner/Manager pulled in as I got back, where's my Office Plants he says
I said I didn't think he was interested this year, the ones I planted last Year didn't do so well
He says sure, get me some more... no hurry though he says... Hah! When do I ever hurry?

Well, no one waits for my Services, headed off to Lowes right then... Was thinking of some Cannas
They had a lot of stuff, lots of pretty things at good prices but I didn't find any Cannas
But a display of bright Yellow Monrovia Dahlias cought my attention, hey, those would go good
And would be better than the New Zealand Impatiens I planted last Year because they like full Sun
I found out later they like more shade than they had and that's why they didn't do so well

So I picked out a couple of hardy looking Plants and a couple of nice big Pots, I had Potting soil
Back at el Ranchito, I drilled holes in the Pots and started on the Transplants
All done in Twenty Minutes and I took them up to the Office, add bit of Color to the front Stairs there

I took them up right at Noon, Boss Bob was not there, think he took off for the Day, he does that on Fridays
Then I decided to take a walk out back to check the Gardens again, the Radishes I plantes Sunday, May 1st were popping up
Saw more weeds in the Gap behind the Trellis, pulled out the Weeds and layed some underlayment there
I should have filled in that Gap when I put the Underlayment on the rear half of the Bed earlier

~ Radishes from the Seed Tape Popping up Friday ~

So now, I planted Onion Seeds in front of that Radish Tape in that Bed on April 30th, they haven't shown up yet
So I had my Margarita about 2 p.m. On to the afternoon, needed to water out front, hooked up the Hose
But first I poured a Glass of that no good Pinot Grigio and sat out front a while taking in that Heavenly Weather
Then I turned on the Water and gave everything out front a good drink, than back in for afternoon TV

On into a long Evening of TV, decided to take a break outside with a glass of my good Vino Paisano
The weather was just beautiful, and my Neighbor had visitors and the were out front also, we had some chat
The I saw another Neighbor from the next Building wave so I headed over there to chat with him
He works at the Price Chopper and I give him a ride to work now and then if I see him on the way
So, his building is then last one at the Bottom of our Hill and has a great View so I got a Photo
Take a peek and see if you can pick out my place with the Blazer and all the Flowers out front

~ The View from the Bottom of My Street ~

So the chat ran down as the Evening lengthened, I adjourned and headed back to my place for Dinner
Had a big Burger and Fried Taters, more Vino and TV and stayed up later, and it was another Good Day at that

Thursday Morning and off we go again... 51 Degrees but Sunny and going to 72... just perfect Weather... I like it!
And after my Morning hunt for the Golden Rainbow I'll tackle the Weeds up on the Hill in back again
I made a good start on Wednesday up there, should be a bit drier today I am hoping
I mowed a lot on Wednesday that the Mowing Crew couldn't handle with their Mower on that slippery slope
And it seems that when I enlarge the unmowed area with my little Electric Mower, later they follow that some

And so... I didn't post this Photo I took on the way back from Walmart on Tuesday
The entire Sky was filled with these beautiful Clouds, I just had to stop to take a Picture

~ Gorgeous Skies on the way back from Walmart ~

And back to Thursday... Headed down to the Fast Stop for my Lottos, back Home to scratch off NUTHIN again
And so what else for the Gorgeous Day ahead? Some more work back on the Hill... Plugged in the Mower
Was thinking of spreading some more Sulphur Powder around to deter the Varmints and planting more Radishes

So first I mowed close around all the Garden Beds, then sprinkled the Sulphur all around the outsides
Next took off the Pepper Bed front Gate and layed my Radish Tapes down the middle between the Pepper Plants
Covered the Tape with Soil and patted it down then put the Gate back on... That minor Chore complete

~ More Radishes Planted ~ This time in the Pepper Bed ~

Then I headed way up to the Pumpkin Cage and sprinkled Sulphur all around that Cage, looked like it needed Water too
Back inside then to Hook up the Hose to water in my Radish Seeds and the Pumpkins up on the top

And... Went back out to Water... everything... Watered in the new Radish Seed Tape, then the Peppers and Eggplants in that Bed
And the Swiss Chard, Turnips and Cucumbers I added along with the main Crop of Peppers and Eggplants
Next the Tomato Bed, just the Tomato plants and the Beets in that one, and gave a squirt to the Cantaloupe Cage on the End
Then the last lower Bed, the Cucumber Bed, watered the Cucumbers, new Radish Seeds and Onions Seeds in that one
Finally all the way to the Top of the Hill to give the Pumpkin Plants a good drink

Then back down the Hill and on the Side, watered that Transplanted Rose, the Rhubarb and the Popcorn Roses
Just a couple more things, the Dwarf Spruce I planted and the Boxwoods and Popcorn Roses at the next Building
And a new Idea when I took a peek at my Orange Trees in pots out front... Need bigger Pots...

So off we went to Lowes, picked out two nice big Pots and a couple more Bags of Potting Soil
Seems you always have to drill some holes in the Plastic Pots so I plugged in my Drill to Charge
Then mixed a Manhattan and went out front to absorb some of that Gorgeous Weather
Then back in to drill holes in the new Pots and back out to transplant my Trees
And that didn't take long, I dragged the Pots over to my Porch Chair, sat there filling them the easy way

~ Out of the Small Pots ~ Into the Big Pots ~

And that was abou tit for another nice busy Day and another one probably on Friday, today
A little more Mowing out back, and water everything out front, that should do it
Oh yeah, some underlayment needs to be put in the Cucumber Bed, some weeds growing in the back part now

Anyway, I'll find enough to do I think, I usually always do... Off I go again...

Wednesday... A little warmer Morning, a little warmer later they say, well the Garden needs that Sun
And I didn't have many plans for Tuesday but turned out to be another happy busy Day, let's do another
Not much needs to be done in the back Gardens but I would like to mow some Weeds way up on top
But it was still too muddy up there on Tuesday, don't think it will be much better today, Wednesday

And off to the Price Chopper for my Daily Dose of Lottos... Bought $30 Worth, Won $20 back
That ain't no Win... Back to trade for $20 More... Then Scratched off $25 in Wins, now that's a little Profit
But not satisfied with that, back to cash in the Tickets for $25, put the $20 in my Pocket, bought one more $5 Ticket
Then won $15 on that Ticket, a tad better... That looks like a $15 Profit for three Trips to the Price Chopper

The Morning wound down to Noon, the weather looking better and better, took a walk out back
Maybe I could mow some up there anyway, mud, molehills or whatever, so I plugged in my little Mower
And I dragged the Mower and Cord up to my Garden Bench and started going back and forth from there
And I got most all of what I had planned to cut done in maybe a half hour, worked up a sweat in that Sun and 67 Degrees
Still more I want to do up there but there is always a Tomorrow... isn't there? Where's my Margarita

Well now... now it is Thursday Morning, where did the rest of Wednesday go? last I remember was my 2 p.m. Margarita
Oh yeah, now I remember, I saw the Price Chopper weekly Sales Flyer in the Mail and they had KC Strips on Sale
A 10 Ounce Kansas City Strip Steak for $5.00... That's about half the regular Price, thought I would go get one
I cashed in my $15 Win, bought a $5 Lotto Ticket and put another $5 in my Pocket and bought a Steak with the last $5
And then back Home to scratch off a loser ticket, put a Potato in the Oven to bake and start on a Salad
Some crisp Napa Cabbage inner Leaves, Sweet Onion, Green Pepper and lots of my Mini tomatoes, later to top with Ranch Dressing

~ Used all the Ripe Aerogarden Heirloom Cherry Tomatoes ~

Back to catch up on the afternoon TV with a Glass if Pinot Grigio I got on sale at Walmart
I could taste why it was on sale, I like my Carlo Rossi Paisano Red much much better
And then had a second Glass of that favorite Vino Tinto before starting on Dinner

OK, Dinner prep time, I had the Salad ready except fot the Buttermilk Ranch Dressing, Baked Potato warm in the Oven
Seasoned my Kansas City Strip Steak with Garlic Salt and Fresh ground Black Pepper, into my ribbed Cast Iron Skillet to Grill
Assembled that Dinner, poured another glass of Carlo Rossi Red and back to the TV to finish the Day
And yes yes... What a Dandy Dish to set before King Donald of Parkville!

OK, now Thursday... Whats to do? back up that Hill to mow some more... CHARGE!

~ Las Flores son Bonitas~ Oh what a Beautiful Morning! ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Well yes, it did turn out to be another busy Day on Monday, looking a little better this Morning
Still chilly but the Sun up and bright at 49 Degrees at 8:20 a.m. warming up to 67 later
And again, no plans for the Day, maybe a run back to Walmart for a few things later in the Morning
A first look at my new Lettuce Crops, now popping up in Garden One after a couple Days
More Lettuce going into Garden Four as soon as it gets here, (Tuesday), should be in the MailBox later

~ Lettuce popped up in Garden One ~ Growing Nicely in Garden Three ~

The Lettuce replacement Pod that I left in Garden Seven seems to be trying now that I removed the rest
The larger Lettuce Leaves were blocking a lot of the Light it needed to catch up
The Poblano Peppers I planted there aren't up yet and won't block the light for quite a while
And they are in the two back corners anyway and the Lettuce is in the Center front

~ Lettuce Catching up in Garden Seven ~ Poblano Peppers not up Yet ~

Checking my Tomato in the Pot out front on the way out to Walmart, lookee there! a 'Tomatoette!
Then on the way to Walmart to get some of this and some of that, got that and headed back it beautiful Weather
Sun and warming up too, looks like another weeding Project in order, that Tomato Bed in back

~ First Better Boys Tomato in the Pot ~ First One in the Tomato Bed ~

Back at Ranchito El Pato, put my Wine and stuff in the Fridge... headed out back... not as many Weeds in the Tomato Bed
And looks like those Beets will be ready in a few more Days... I want some fresh home made Pickled Beets
So I started in on the Weeds and was finished in about 15 Minutes, a lot neater now

~ Needs to be Weeded ~ Weeded and looking Better ~

When I put the Front Gate back on the Bed I thought it was just a bit on the heavy side, I had extra steel Netting on it
I added a lot of steel Netting over the Chicken Wire when the Varnmints were invading my beds last Year
But now the front of the Beds are on a steeper slope, don't need the Netting to be so high so I cut off 2/3rd of it
Now is it easier for a weak old Man to hoist the Gate back on the Bed... every little bit of aid helps

And then I had to run to the Price Chopper for some Triple Sec for my Margaritas, got that and headed back
Saw the Mailman loading up the Boxes so I stopped and waited to see if my new Seed Pods came... and they did
So down the Hill and back Home and popped open the Box and stuck Six Lettuce Pods into Garden Four... All set now

~ Twelve new Pods of Lettuce now Planted in Three Gardens ~

And then I mixed that Margarita and headed on into the Afternoon and Evening routines
Some Dinner and TV and off again to Bed after another nice busy Day... How Sweet it IS!

Monday Morning, 48 Degrees at 6 a.m. and only going to 59 they say... My Plants don't like that
First thing a peek at my Lettuce in Garden 3, now that's the way I want my Plants to grow!
Planted Thursday, popped up on Sunday, growing nicely on Monday... when is Harvest?

~ Lettuce in Garden 3 on Monday Morning ~ And Tuesday Morning ~

Took everything out of Garden 4 on Sunday, will clean it all out today, Monday, ready to Plant on Tuesday
Then I will have 12 Pods of Lettuce Growing in three Gardens, that should do for awhile
What else planned? Just take a hike up the Hill to check everything, see what may need attention
Cool Cloudy Weather forecast so it doesn't look like a real Fun Day coming on (so far)

On to a busy Day start, one AeroGarden asking for Water. Tomatoes in Garden 5 waiting to be Harvested
Dishes ready to be put in the Dishwasher, Cat to be fed, Garden 4 to be cleaned and filled for Tuesday
Clothes in the Dryer waiting to be folded and hung up, just routine Housekeeping stuff
Finished all that by 11 a.m, still only at 51 Degrees, plugged in the Drill to charge up
Then took the Trash up to the Dumpster then went out back to bring in my Hoe to sharpen

And then, anticipating delivery of more Lettuce Pods on Tuesday, I cleaned out AeroGarden 4
Harvested all the Thai Basil left there and dried and stored it, no need for any more Basil now
After cleaning out the Grow Bowl I added fresh Water and Nutrient, now all ready for the new Pods

~ Aero4 Garden Cleaned ~ And Prepped for the New Pods ~

And on through the Morning, Cloudy Cool and misty... and I had wanted to go out back and weed the Pepper Garden
Then about Noon I got a call from Pat, she wanted to come over to see her Video and chat
Said she would be over about 1 p.m. so I braved the Weather and went out back to weed that Bed anyway
Well, with a light Jacket, it wasn't so bad and the weeding went Fast, looking a lot better now
And the Plants in that Bed? Turnips not doing so good at all, Swiss Chard trying but only hanging on
The Cucumbers in the bed Ends look OK for now, Peppers look OK too but the Egglants want some Sun

~ Before Weeding ~ After Weeding ~

And then a little after 1 p.m. Pat came walking down the Hill, then came in to catch up on the latest Chat
Played her Garden Video and then gave her a Blu-ray DVD I made of that Epic, now she wants one when the Flowers bloom
On through the Afternoon, looking at Sanctuary Photos, working Crosswords on the Computer
I had an early Margarita, she sipped a Glass of my Vino Tinto, another pleasant way to pass the time

She left about 4 p.m. I went on to lay out something for Dinner later, one of those big Hot Dogs to thaw
Then later, simmered up another Ear of that 'On Sale' Sweet Corn with some of those mini Tomatoes on the side
Next some Chili heated up along wih that Hot Dog, a Big 'Chili Dog' with Chips for Dinner... Nice

Finished up the Day with a Glass of Vino Tinto and TV and off to Bed... Now what's for Tuesday?

~ New Day ~ New Week ~ New Month ~
~ Planted a new Crop of Radishes ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ Lettuce Emerging ~ Planted on Thursday April 28 ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Sunday Morning, 51 Degrees at 8 a.m. and they are saying only a top of 59 and mostly Cloudy
That is NOT what I ordered, but the Sun is up Bright for the Moment... please stay that way!

First thing... Checked the AeroGardens, the lettuce is just popping up in the newly planted Garden 3
Harvested Cilantro in Garden 1 on the 30th, then planted Lettuce there also
Sunday Morning, snipped all the Genovese Basil from Garden 4, then got online and ordered more Lettuce
When that gets here I'll Harvest everything left in Garden 4 and plant Lettuce in that one too
Then I'll have Twelve Pods of Lettuce growing in those three Gardens, that should be plenty

~ Garden 4 ~ Will Plant Lettuce Pods when Delivered ~

So, what planned for Sunday, of course first my Lotto Scratchers... I Want that BIG one
Then out to the Kitchen to make Radish Seed Tape, so I won't have to thin the Plants later
Mix some Flour Paste, a Drop with a Toothpick on a length of Toilet Tissue and a Seed on each Drop
And that didn't take long, I made 12 Feet of Radish Tape, the Bed is 6 feet, could make two Rows

~ Made 6 Two foot Radish Tapes ~

And off to the Price Chopper to try my luck again, come on you Thousand Dollar Wins!
No big luck, only won back $18, no profit in that at all, better luck next time?
And after that a trot back up the Hill to plant Radishes in the Cucumber Bed and water in the new Seeds
Much easier way to plant... I just layed the Tape in the Bed, then covered it with new Potting Soil and pressed it down

~ Three Two foot Tapes ready to cover with Soil ~

So that didn't take much time at all, what else can I do out there? Would like to mow some more
But that Hill is still all wet and muddy and slippery, need some sunny dry Weather please

Well, then nothing more outside, just puttering around inside, I did clean everything out of Garden 4
Still quite a bit of Thai Basil in that one, clipped it all and dried and stored it, that's all the Basil for now
No more Herbs in any of the AeroGardens now, three pots of Herbs outside, Basil, Mint and Oregano
They are all growing nicely, I can snip some of that if and when I need more

On then to the Afternoon and Dinner, I had that big Head of Broccoli, thought I would make a Casserole
That took some doing but I overdid it, it was edible but way too spicy and rich, I had one helping, will toss the Rest
I usually luck out pretty good with my Cooking but that one just didn't make it...

Off to Monday now, what's on the Program? Well finish cleaning out and renewing Garden 4
My new Lettuce Pods are coming on Tuesday so the Garden will be all ready to plant when they get here
And what else? Don't know at the moment but I'll come up with something... Off to the new Day!

~ Next Crop to Plant out Back ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

9 a.m. Saturday... Rain, Rain... Go Away.. Little Donny want to go out and play... Was raining when I headed out
And a bit on the Chilly side, then at 10 a.m. the Sun cane out BRIGHT for a couple Minutes...
And looked like it would stay bright when I headed to Riverside to Larry's Nursery

He had some Onion sets about a Week ago, thought I would trot over there and get some
But he was sold out of that Item, so next door to the Riverside Red X Store
There they had some Onion Seeds so I decided to try those, don't grow quite so fast as sets though

Back at the Ranchito, looked like time to snip that Cilantro from Garden 1 and plant some lettuce in there

~ Time to Replant AeroGarden 1 ~ Cilantro Harvested ~ Lettuce Planted ~

Still had four Pods from my last Pod Kit, so three of them went into Garden 1, one Pod left
And... Weather getting nicer, back up the Hill to pull all the Radishes, not a winner Crop again this Year
The experts say that Radishes are so easy to grow but for me they haven't been very productive... Oh Well
I have more Radish Seeds, I'll plant some more in a few Days, just a pain to plant those tiny Seeds
But they are bigger than the Turnip Seeds I planted and they are not doing so well either
And those Onions Seeds I just bought aren't much bigger than the Turnip Seeds, but anyway... I tried
Took some new Potting Soil back to refresh the Cucumber Bed where I pulled the Radishes
Then I tried to be easy and planted a row of Onions, I'll have to get some 'Sets' they are so much easier

~ Radishes Pulled ~ Onions Planted ~

And then, a little bored again, and I had $9 in my Pocket, how about some $3 Bingo Tickets?
They have this $3 Bingo Ticket I like to play, usually don't win much but it is possible
Some 'Lines' have a 'Five Times Gold Bar' which increases the interest on playing the Game
I got three Tickets, won a $3 Line on one, then a $10 Line on the second with that Gold Bar... $50
Then another Line for a $3 Win, total $53 on that Ticket plus the $3 on the other, last ticket was a Dud
So, $9 for the Tickets, Ten minutes of fun and a $47 Profit, nice way to do business

~ Nice Win on a $3.00 Ticket ~

Went back to the Price Chopper to cash in my Win and wanted some Hot Dog Buns, got my Cash and headed to the back
Saw Antonio, mi Amigo, in the Produce Department... Stacking Onions and on a super Sale! and I needed Onions
Then he said there was another Super Sale on Broccoli... Yeah! I got a super sized Head
Oh yeah, the Sweet Corn for 29 Cents an Ear, had to get some of that, got Six Ears

That was less than half price for all that Stuff, then I headed on back for my Buns

~ All this Loot for $5.06 ~

On to the Afternoon for a Margarita and then an Ear of that Sweet Corn, along with some of my Radishes and mini Tomatoes
Then one of those Giant Lotto Price Hot Dogs to finish up the Day... Oh yeah, Pay Day and a nice Lottos Win too!

Now on into the new Month of Merry Merry May!
