~ Still Converting Tapes ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ Opening Title for Pat's Converted Chistmas Tape ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

And another Good Morning, Sun again and not too cool, and going to a perfect High of 76 Again
Started the Day loading in another Tape to Convert, this time 'Lonesome Dove', looks like it takes a WEEK to watch
I set it going about 7 a.m. and then it was still converting at 10:45 a.m. Hey Hey! I have more to copy!
I had several nice ripe Tomatoes so I decided to take them down to Lewis, he was at his usual spot
I gave him the Tomatoes, got his thanks and left, someone was there I didn't want to talk to... (shhhhhhhh)

And then I headed to the Price Chopper to get $20 worth of Lottos out of the Machine
Back home for a second Cup of Coffee and scratch... And I won a $15, $15 and a nice $25, a little Profit there
So back to see Rion again and cash those in, get $20 more, this time only won a $5... But... still ahead
Finally that extra long Tape finished, I reloaded Pat's Christmas tape, wanted to try something different

And, on Tuesday, was thinking that if one Indoor Garden was good, two would be better, raise another Crop
So I got online to Walmart, ordered another one, ready for pickup on Thursday, no Shipping charge
And... the Garden out front is slipping away bit by bit, thought I would bring in the Orange Trees
There was room for them on the Bottom Shelf if I raised the middle Shelf So I did that
Then I installed four of the Grow Lights I had on the big Shelf there last Winter
I planted those Orange Seeds inside in January this year, they grew some over the Summer. maybe they will like it back inside now

Back to the Video Editing, I made a Copy of the Edit that I started with the first conversion of Pat's Tape
Then I copied the Video the second time in 6 X 9 aspect Ratio, think that might look better on a DVD
So I edited the second Copy, took quite awhile, then tried to burn it to a DVD, it was too long!
How did a 2 Hour and 54 Minute VHS Tape become so long you couldn't get it on a 4.70 GB Disk?, well it says 5.14 GB now
Well, I suppose because it saves the conversion to .MP4, then I converted that to .mpg for the DVD
And that made a larger File, so to get it all on one Disk I burned it in Blu-ray, played it back on my TV

And it looks about as good as I can get it for now... But Pat doesn't have a Blu-ray Player (yet)
So Thursday Morning (today) I re-edited it to make a Part One and Part Two, I'll burn it to Two DVDs then
And now I have six of her Tapes converted and am converting Number seven now on my HP Desktop

Now I can start editing the 'junk' they add to those VHS Tapes and then burn them to DVDs on my Dell Number Two
No hurry, they will just go back in a box and wait until someone might want to play them, just saved for History now

So what else for Thursday? my second Indoor Garden has been shipped, waiting for the call to go pick it up
Looks like another fairly busy Day... Huh?

Up and at 'em on Tuesday Morning, thinking what to do about a VCR Player, I had a good one, now doesn't work
Well now, maybe it was that old Camera and Tape and not the Player? Lets try a Movie... I hooked up the Gear and started
And it looked like that Tape was copying nicely... Just that junky old VCR Camera or Tape at that?
Earlier I had played one of my early Tapes on that Player and it too had a wild streak across the top
So, I would check out that File after I got it all copied and then only 18 or so more to go after that

~ Copying and Converting Pat's Movies ~

So I checked a little of that recording and saw it had that jiggle too, now what, that will not do
Well anyway, time to go get Lottos... When I got there I asked Rion if he might have an old VCR I could borrow
And I told him what my trouble was... AND! He told me something I either did not know or had forgotten
Some of those older Players had a 'Tracking' control on the Remote, I know my old VCR did not
And he said the later Players had what they called 'Auto-tracking'... WHAT? something Tech I didn't know?

So then when I got back I checked on the Remote.. HAH! Has a 'Tracking Control' on it
So I put Pat's Christmas Tape back in and tried it again and the Tracking Control got rid of the problem
Still a jittery old Tape and the Photogtrapher wasn't too steady but it was a lot better copy

And then into a long afternoon waiting for the Tape to convert, then I started editing it
I wanted to add somt Titles and Music and needed to cut out some of the repeated and slow footage
So now I think it looks a lot better, still a converted old VHS Tape but no way close to Blu-ray Video

And then, on to the Evening, Dinner and TV, thought I would check out the Demo Debate
Waited forever for it to start, then it was boring so I just hit 'Record' for later viewing
Then hit the Sack and that was it for Tuesday

Checking the Email Monday Morning, Both the Hydroponic Garden and VCR Converter on the way
And being shipped by USPS so they should be here about 1 p.m. So... Waiting again
Still nice Weather, in the 60s to start and the Sun peekng over the Gully, not as hot today, saying 72
Well that's my DNP Day Temp so I'll settle for that, headed to the Price Chopper at 8 a.m.

Bought my Daily Dose of Lottos, back to work off only a measley $5... Can't settle for that
And thinking... where to put that new Garden Toy? Off in the Kitchen, that's where I put that big Shelf?
I didn't want to put the Shelf back in the Living Room, I have other stuff stored on it now
And I would like to have the Plants where I can see them, how about a trip to Walmart for a small Shelf?

And so off to Walmart again, hey hey, they just increased my Credit Limit again, they want to run me broke
I knew what I wanted and just where it was, and it was there, a Shelf like the big one but a lot smaller
So I tucked it under my arm and headed back home to assemble it, and easy... no Tools needed
And I set it under the front Window, needs no Sunlight but I want to see the Stuff growing

And I checked the Mail about 1 p.m. No package yet, later I needed to go to the Store again
So I headed back there after 2 p.m. Got my Goodies and headed back, checked the mail Box again... No Go
So down the Hill to Home and there it was, the Box sitting on my front Porch... HAH!

Inside to unpack my Store Stuff, then open my new Boxes, read up on the Planter, then set it on my new Shelf
Next I opened the VHS Converter Box, fired up the HP Desktop and got the Software Installed
Then I started copying the first VCR Tape, it was a personal Tape and didn't copy very good

~ Copying and Converting Pat's Christmas Tape ~

I was really disappointed... Bad VCR Player or what, I gave up for the Afternoon to start baking Bread
Got my Bread ingredients into the Bread Maker abd started up the Machine, takes about three Hours
Then I started my first planting in the new Indoor Garden, simple enough, fill the Tank with Water
Stir in a little bit of the Nutrient Liquid, pop in the Seed Pods, on with the Seed Covers and Wah Lah!
I set it on my Shelf, plugged it in and now, when can we pick some Basil?
It came with three Seed Pods, Basil, Dill and Thyme... I use a lot of Basil but not so much Thyme and Dill
Maybe some Dill for my Devilled Eggs... But what do I use the Thyme for... we shall see... if and when

~ Indoor Garden Planted and Working ~ When do we Harvest? ~

And then, finished out the Day, had some Spaghetti and Sausage with a Slice of that Fresh Baked Bread
And finished out the Day with a Glass of Wine and more old TV shows...
And that was a really busy Day, a lot going on and a lot accomplished except for the Coverter disappointment
Do I have to find another VCR Player to try or what... Oh well... off to the new day Tuesday

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Headed out in 60 Degrees plus in the Morning Sun, looking for the end of the Rainbow at the Price Chopper
Got my Lottos, headed back, poured my second Cup of Coffee, scratched off $15, not quite that Pot of Gold
Well that won't do, I did me some Toast and Cranberry Sauce, glass of Milk, then headed back
So the first time at the Price Chopper I won a $5 and a $10, second time a $10 and a $15
Back for a third time, only a $5 Win... OK then another try, fourth time another $15... $60 Total then
And I thought that would be enough but I saw the old neighbor Guy heading out, long walk to the Price Chopper
So...'Ya Wanna Ride'... 'Why Shore'... So back to the Price Chopper again and I had a stray $20 in my pocket
So I got $20 more Tickets, back to scratch off another $10, $70 Total Wins for the Day but no profit
But as they say... 'It was Fun!'...

And then, the Weather just GORGEOUS... I headed up the Hill to haul Soil, did a little work on the Tomato Bed first
It was only 75 Degrees but I started sweating and soon was ready to come back down...
Planty of time to take my time until I need those Beds again next Spring, so that was it for that Day
Back to mix a Margarita and dry out, cool off and catch up with the News on TV

I have been watching the green Tomatoes I picked ripen on the Kitchen Table, slowly ripening
Have five or sox now that will be ready in a few more Days, and still more outside on the Vines
The Season is waning but not quite over yet, waiting for that first Freeze

~ See I told you they would Ripen ~

Amd later, the usual, dig up something good to eat, something interesting to watch
And wind up another better than usual Day... Except for Big Winnings

~ Nice $20 Hunk of Arm Roast on Sale for $11 ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

A cold start for Saturday, still 44 Degrees at 7 a.m. Hoping it would warm up fast
And these dark Mornings now are depressing to someone with a Sunny Disposition like ME
Anyway... I headed out to the Price Chopper at 8 a.m. I was all out of Old Crow, I can't live like that
So I hit the ATM for a couple Twenties, got $20 worth of Lottos and headed around the Corner
Said 'Buenos Dias' to mi Amigo Luis in the Produce Department then picked up a 1.75 liter of Bourbon
And then headed back home to scratch off a $5 and a $15 Win, well, no profit but got my Money back

Next, out to la Cocina to put out a Biscuit to thaw, later, make some Sausage Gravy for Breakfast
And then take the Roast out of the Pot of Broth and store in the Fridge to slice and store later

And then... I did make the Sausage Gravy and dumped some on a fresh Biscuit, and into the M/W
And that was some good, yeah, next trim the Veggies to put in the Beef Broth, I had Potatoes and Carrots
But I wanted to add some Celery and a Turnip to the Onions and Broth already in the Pot
Back to the Price Chopper for a nice Big Turnip (nabo) and a stalk of Celery (apio)
Then I plugged the Crock Pot back in, peeled and chunked the Turnip, then some Potatoes
And a Couple more Carrots and several Celery Stalks, some Salt and Pepper and away we go

~ Does that look GOOD or What! ~

So while those Veggies were simmering in the Crock Pot I decided to trot up the Hill again about Noon
Sunny and 64 Degrees, just perfect for Digging, and the Bed Soil was in the shade too
And I got most the Bed all dug and now waiting for me to haul a few more loads down, maybe Sunday

~ More Soil dug up and Waiting to Haul Down the Hill ~

Then I moved the prop holding up the Tomato Bed Trellis out of the way, to let it fall back
There are still about ten Tomatoes on that Trellis so I'll let it lay there until I pick them
Now I can take the Ends of that Bed off and do a little work on them before the Move down the Hill

~ Tomato Bed on the Way Down ~ Ends off Next ~

And then back inside for the Afternoon, I had more Beef Broth than Veggies in the Pot so I added some more
Carrots, Celery, Potatoes and Onions, and later then a lot more to store away, some in the Fridge , some in the Freezer

~ Lots of Stewed Vegetables for Today, Tomorrow and a few Days after that ~

Finished off the Day with some of that Roast Beef, a Plate full of Veggies and a hunka Toasted Home Made Bread
How Sweet it sometimes really IS!

~ One Litle Eggplant and More Blooms ~ Hanging in there ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

And... First thing Friday Morning I got online to find that big hunk of Good News... $326.36 back in my Bank!
Well that made my Day and it had just started... And so... On to the Morning Routine
I headed off to the Price Chopper for a few things and got my $20 worth of Lottos
Back to scratch off the Lottos, taking some of the Wind out of my Sails, only won back $10
So then a slice of Rhubarb Pie with Cool Whip and then what, Cloudy and Cool, didn't look like Garden work
Well, I got a card in the Snail Mail from the Argosy Casino, baiting me with a $5 promotion
Hadn't been there for over a Year and a half, so why not? I had a $20 Bill in my pocket
Stuck my Card in the Machine, got my $5.00 Freebie then put in my $20 Bill... then off to the Races
Spun away my Dollars until finally I hit three Red Sevens for a $6 Win, cashed out for $31
Only a $11 Profit but take it when you can get it

So then on the way back to Parkville I was thinking 'Dinner' and 'What?', how about a Beef Roast?
Sounded good so I stopped back by the Price Chopper.. Man, have you checked the Beef Prices lately?
Most cuts way out of my Price Range, more than $10 a Pound, so I have been usually buying Pork and Chicken
Well, and getting free Steaks and Burgers with loser Lotto Tickets.... But as usual, lookee there... a Sale!
My favorite is Chuck Roast but no Sales... They did have some good looking Arm Roasts for $2.99 a Pound
I picked out a nice good sized couple, orginal price $20, on sale for $11, now I can handle that

I had picked up some Sweet Onions, Carrots and fresh Garlic and a gallon of Vino Tinto on the way to the Meat
So I checked out and headed Home, got started on the Roast, was already after 1 p.m.
I got the Crock Pot plugged in, sliced a Sweet Onion in the Bottom, then a couple Cloves of Garlic
Then I floured the two Roasts and browned them in Peanut Oil, then into the Crock Pot over the Onions and Garlic
Then I peeled and sliced up a few Carrots, added them to the Pot and then a half cup of Apple Juice
And... On with the Lid and on into the Afternoon, that Roast would take six Hours in the Crock Pot

The Roast went in at 2 p.m. so it would be 8 p.m. to finish cooking, need Dinner before that
So I subbed with a Dinner of another 'Omaha Steak' accompanied by Baked Sweet Potato and Broccoli with Cheese
And with a buttered Slice of Home Baked Bread, that was quite ample and tasty, all the Roast for later

That was a good way to finish out a drab and cool and dreary Weather Day, I like a bit more Sun
Now... Saturday Morning and COLD at 44 Degrees but mostly Clear they say and up into the 70s later
These shorter Days and darker Mornings are kind of a dreary way to start my Day, I like some light out there
Well, that's the way the Cookie crumbles so we have to take it as it comes.. Brrrrr...

~ No Work up on the Hill for Thursday ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ One more nice $100 Lotto Win ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

What for Thursday? Well... More talk to the Bank and AT&T about that double Phone Bill
That eztra $326 gone takes a bite out of my Lotto play Money, at least until they give it back (IF?)
Anyway, a nice Weather Day ahead, I can go back and play up on the Hill some more
No hurry to get that Garden Bed moving done but it's something to keep me busy a few Minutes in a Day
And it seems the Chiggers and Ticks have given up biting me for this Season anyway

Anyway I took off for the Price Chopper to buy $20 worth of Lottos, won just $10 back
As long as I have a little to play with, I just might win another good one to help pay for the Loss
Well, it isn't a Loss at that, I have a Credit for the next Bill of $326.36 but that is over twice what the Bill is
I did talk to AT&T on the Phone again, finally may have some results, maybe a Reversal on that second Bill
They said they have a 'Case' now active, gave me an Email Address and what Documents to send
So I looked up all that stuff and sent it including a copy of my Bank Account online showing the double charge
And now my usual unwanted activity... Waiting... Now for my new VHS Converter, Indoor Garden Kit and Phone Case

Was thinking I would head back up the Hill on Thursday for a little more digging
But I was busy all Morning with other things and by the time to go up it was getting too hot
I did check out front, and looks like the Eggplant in the Pot is not quite ready to give up
The Plant is still sending out new Blooms and there is one small Eggplant on there that won't make it
I picked all the good sized green Tomatoes off the Tomato Plant in the Pot but found three more
They look pretty good, getting some size, they just might make it

~ Three More 'Big Boys' Tomatoes on the Plant in the Pot ~

So the rest of the Day was uneventful and really warm outside for October, almost 90 degrees
Now Friday and cool this Morning, maybe I can get back up on the Hill this Morning
And... The first thing I did was fire up the Computer and check my Bank, hopeful but not optimistic
But! Lookee there! That Refund of $326.36 was happily sitting in the Bank... Whoop de Doo for Today!
Not I can coast through the rest of the Month until the next Money Crisis pops up... I must watch CLOSER!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Wednesday Morning, Sunny and Warmer... Back up the Hill again for sure, a couple things to do
But first, check the Email and my Bank Account... WHAT'S THIS! A DOUBLE BILL from AT&T
Oh no, that will wreck this months Lotto buying! So I checked into it with AT&T... a No Go
It was really their mistake but they said they cound do nothing about it
So I headed to my Bank, they looked into it, said they probably could not help either
But they would check further and asked me to come back Thursday Morning
Anyway I had $15 woth of Lotto Winners to trade, bought $20 more... Maybe I would win the BIG ONE!
Back home to Scratch off a $5 Winner,, then a really nice $100 Win just when I needed it
So I headed back to cash it in and then next door to the Bank to deposit it, won about half of that Bill back

And then a late Breakfast and then out into that Sunny Morning out back and up the Hill again
I was just going to staple in some underlayment in the Cucumber Bed, I put no soil in the Back there
So I put the underlayment in to block the Weeds from growing in the back half

~ Dug up Half of the Cucumber Bed ~ Soil goes from there to Here ~

So that Bed is ready to bring the rest of the Soil Down the Hill, Dug up about half the Soil Wednesday
Then back inside to dry off and rest up, later went back up to start taking the Tomato Bed apart
There are still abut a dozem small Tomatoes on the Trellis in that bed so I started taking off the Ends first
And I just let the Trellis rest back against the back Gate for now, no hurry to move that Bed really

~ Started Disassembly of the Tomato Bed ~

And that was a pretty good workout for the Day, may dig a little more up there today, Thursday
I need to run bacxk to the Bank first thing to check upon blocking that double AT&T Payent
Otherwise that will run be a bit short on play Money this month... So off I go...

~ Last Harvest of the Big Tomatoes in the Pot ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Tuesday Morning, a little warmer, a little drier and a little brighter but still no Sun
So I set out for the Price Chopper, bought three Lottos, lost on all three Tickets
Then a few Miles to K-Mart for a little Shopping, got a new Shower Curtain, looks like Margaritaville
And a blue 'Bubble' Bathtub Mat, funny looking but I guess it will work OK
Both at NO CHARGE! I had a lot of 'Shop your Way' Points to redeem, still have $94 left
I got a lot of Points buyng that new 4K Ultra HD TV I guess

And then, back to unpack and then pick Tomatoes, picked all the big ones off the Plant in the Pot
That one Plant in the Pot outproduced four Plants in the Bed up on the Hill
Just way too much Rain and way too much Shade, And so... I climbed my Ladder and picked 12 more Tomatoes out front

Then, some work on the Cucumber Bed, needed to add a Board underneath the Cucumber Cage on the back side
Found some old lumber in my Laundry cubbyhole from something I tore up earlier
Went out to measure the back side of the Bed, yeah right at six feet, had two Boards four feet long
So I cut one in half, screwed another board on top to make them total six feet
Then back up the Hill to slide it under the back side of the bed for the back Gate to sit on

And back up to check the Tomato Bed and the next Soil to move down, maybe dig on that tomorrow
Then checked the 'Better Boys' Tomatoes... Hey Hey! Blooming again, still trying in October
And I counted twelve little green Tomatoes on there, still might amount to something

~ Next Soil to move Down ~ Maybe Five Loads?

And then on into a slow afternoon, decided to Water out front again, the Coleus plants were drooping again
This won't go on much longer, some plants are already shutting down for the end of the Season
And most all the Crops harvested for this Season too, maybe a few little Tomatoes on the Hill and that is it
Oh yeah, I have a tiny Eggplant out front, and that thing is stil blooming, never say die

Well, lessee, I have my Winter Hydroponic garden thing coming, and I'll bring my little Orange Trees inside
What else, I still am waiting for my Smart Phone case, they are way behind and I have that new Converter on the way
Oh well, I'll find something to keep me a bit busy today anyway

Cloudy and Cool and kind of Misty Monday Morning, I had a few of those Tomatoes to give to Lewis
So I headed down to the Coffee House the first thing, Lewis was at his usual Spot
I gave him those three Red Tomatoes at the top of the Photo, the best so far, he appreciated that

And then I headed to the Price Chopper fot my Lottos, only won $10 this time... Oh well
And then headed East a few miles to the UPS Store to give them the Box to return to Amazon
Now the wait for the new Converter, they said maybe shipped by the 8th, this week

And, I happened to see an Indoor Garden Ad at Miracle-Gro Aerogarden... Looked interesting so I ordered it
A 'Hydroponic' Growing Kit to play with this Winter, comes with Seed Pods for Herbs
I tried Pots and Planters for inside last Winter and didn't do all that well but it was some fun

So what was the rest of the Day? Sure not much. a bit too chily for me to play outside
I wanted to get back up on the Hill to dig some more but just too Misty, Cloudy and Cool
Looks like it will be some better today, up to 72 or so, maybe I'll get up there again

I did pick a couple more green Tomatoes, the Big ones that will ripen soon
The Harvesting dies out n October, I don't want to lose any in an early freeze, they will ripen inside

Well then, what for today? Thought I would trot over to K-Mart for a nw Bathtub Mat and Shower Curtain
Of course, pick up a few Lotto Scratchers and then what? Maybe get up on that Hill to dig?
And back to waiting for that VHS Converter and I havr a Phone Case coming too... sometime
Oh yeah, and that new indoor Gardening Kit to try out... Hey! It's Tuesday.. Let's Go!

Finished moving the Soil on one Garden Bed Sunday Morning, next the Soil in the Cucumber Bed
Up the Hill sometime after 9 a.m. Sunday. and cool enough for a Jacket about 47 Degrees or so
All I planned to do was rake the Soil smooth where I dumped the Soil and Clods from the Peppers Bed
Then I got out the Hose to water down and break up some of the big Clods in there, looks good now
Looks like all I need to do in there now is add some Peat Moss and Garden soil, next Spring Maybe?

~ Sunday Morning Progress, This Bed all Moved Now ~

Then out to Kicks 66 to get some Lottos, they have a new Owner and no Tickets for sale at present
So back to the Price Chopper for $20 worth and only won back a $5 Win

Then what? Slow morning after that, then I needed a few things from the Price Chopper for later
So, this time, dry Cat Food, Gizzards to cook for the Cat, then a few Goodies for me, this and that
And forgot to get the Worstershire Sauce... Oh well, then next door to Walgreens for an Item
Then back to the Ranchito to wonder what the heck to finish out the Day with

Well it was finished as usual in the Afternon with a Margarita and TV News Catch Up, then made some Pico de Gallo
Then a hunk of Sirloin Stak with Fried Green Tomatoes with Pico De Gallo and off to Dreamland

Well Friday was a fairly productive Day except for the unexpected Visit that wasted the early Evening
After my last outing up on the Hill I had attacked some of the Tomatoes I picked up there
I thought I would try frying the greenest ones, about four small ones, rinsed and sliced them
I read up on Fried Green Tomato Recipes, found one that I liked, but had to modify it a little
It called for Buttermilk in the Egg Wash, but I thought regular Milk would work... and it did
I breaded the Slices as usual, Flour first, then Egg Wash and then Panko Crumbs and then in the Fridge to set op

That was waiting for me when I got my Visitor, so I postponed Dinner... much much later
So when he finally left I got the Oven heated up, and my Chicken Sandwich started, put some Oil in a Dish
I put the Dish in a 400 Degree Oven to heat before I put the Tomato Slices in, gives them a better start
After the Dish was Hot, in with the Tomatoess and then in the Oven for almost an Hour
After the first half Hour or so, I flipped them, nice crusty Bottom by then, another 20 Minutes maybe?
So I toasted my home made Bread, loaded it with sliced Chicken in BBQ Sauce, then waited for the Tomatoes to finish
Then my Chicken Sandwich... Good!... then some Crispy Tangy Fried Green Tomatoes... very Tasty at that
And what a dandy Dish to set before the King and wind up another Busy Day... on Friday

So, Saturday, dawning Bright and Cool... Nice... I headed up the Hill at about 9 a.m. Back to the Salt Mines
I loaded up the first Load, down the Hill, not so bad, back for the Second Load, I would rake some then Shovel some
Down with the Second Load, seemed a bit heavier that time, then back for the Third, then time to sit on my Bench up there
After a short breather back for the Fourth Load, looking like not much left to do so... go for it
The Fifth load was not quite as much as the first Four, here is what it looks like after that one

~ Saturday Morning Progress, All Done for Now ~

That is about all that needs to be brought down from that Bed, and I have an idea what to do with it next
I'll put my Pumpkin patch in what is left of that Bed and put some kind of Cage over it to keep the Deer out
So what's next up there? Well, bring down the Soil from the smaller Cucumber Bed, then dismantle the Tomato bed
Tote the base down the Hill, then reassemble it and bring down that big Load of Soil there...

And so, back down the Hill about 9:45, not such a bad session this time, time to head out
I needed a Jug of Vino Tinto so I headed to the Price Chopper for that... and saw Russet Potatos on Sale
Big good looking white Potatoes, 10 pounds for $1.99, couldn't pass that up, I was out of Potatoes too
So back to the Lotto Machine and got $20 worth of Lottos, Home to scratch off a $10, $15 and $50
Now that's a nice Start for October and for the time being I am ahead of the Game!
On this Card, Five Words with a 'Money Bags' on one of the Words equals a $50 Win

~ Nice Start for October Winnings! ~

So I went back to trade in those Winners for $55 Cash and $20 more Lottos, that time I only won $10 more
Shudda stuck with my $55 profit but ya never know when you are on a streak like that... Sometimes it keeps going

And so on to the Afternoon, checked the Mail about 2 p.m. The Cnverter was there so back to try it out
I hooked ut up and loaded the Install DVD, wasn't too smooth an Install, I tried it several times
Finally thought I had it right and tried converting a Tape, no image shpwed up on the Screen
I did get a Video File on my Computer, checked it out, no Video... Soooo...

Then I tried installing it on a different Computer, Install went easier but the results were the same
So after over two hours of trying I gave up, maybe a defective Converter?

~ Converter Hooked up for a Trial ~ It Failed! ~

So on to the Evening and the usual finish to the good day, except for the new Comverter I couldn't get to work
So now, Sunday Morning, I packed up the Converter, got a return Label from Amazon, Monday I'll be off to UPS to return it
And then I got online to order a different Converter, costs more but maybe it will work?

I have had very few devices I could not get to work, it's good that Amazon has such an easy return policy

Off to another nice Sunday for me then then...

~ Picked Tomatoes ~ Hauled some Soil ~

A new Email Friday Morning said my VCR to DVD Converter is due Saturday... Another big Project in store
Twenty VHS Tapes to convert as well as several for me, and that has to be done in real time
So figure about two hours each to convert a Tape to .mpg and then how long to burn a DVD
Well, it doesn't take near as long to record the DVD but still that's a lot of Hours
Well at least, I can just set the Tape to convert and then go about doing something else

Ok then, I set out for Platte City about 8:30, my Appoiment was for 9 a.m. Was there 10 minutes early
But I was out of there pretty quick and got back to Parkville about 10 a.m. and then What?
Well, another slice of the Rhubarb Pie with Cool Whip and some Bill Paying Catch up

And then, all that nice Sunny and Cool weather out there, back up the Hill again about Noon
I had some Soil dug and all piled up and ready to move, shoveled a good load into the Aerocart
Down the Hill for the easy part, dumped the load in the moved Garden Bed, that made three Loads so far
Back up the Hill again for three more Loads, plenty of that for me for the Day, got lots of time

Then I had noticed several small Tomatoes in the Tomato Bed getting some Color, I picked those
It looks like Lewis Jonas has won the Tomato Wars this time, he likes 'Big Boys' Tomatoes and I like the 'Better Boys' Hybrid
Well it wasn't that the 'Big Boys' are a better Hybrid, it was this season's Weather and Location
The 'Big Boys' were in a large Pot of Potting Soil in front, getting more Sun and less Rain in that Pot
Up the Hill we had way to much Spring Rain and too much Shade from the ever Growing Trees back there

So hopefully next Year, moving the Beds down the Hill for more all day Sun will give me a good Crop again

~ Almost the Last of the 'Better Boys' Tomatoes for this Year ~

So what to do with those small still unripe Tomatoes? Some Fried Green Tomatoes maybe?
I just might try that, not all that crazy about them but they can be tasty at that

Well, that was the end of my 'Work Day' time to do the usual unwinding, on into the late afternoon
Easing on into my Evening TV Time with a Margarita I get a knock on my Door... Who be that?
Ahhh, my out of work friend Kelly again, now what's he want, always something it seems
Well for the first part just to talk and watch my TV Stuff, Videos and my Computer hooked up to the TV
I mixed him a Manhattan and we had a lot of chit and chat and our usual disagreements on most everything
He jhinks he 'knows it all'... but as all of my Friends know... it is -I- that 'knows it all'

Anyway, I have the Money and the Tech Toys and need no one to help me... He asked for money help
And I told him no way this Month, My AT&T Bill went way out of sight with that new Phone
I thought at the time the deal sounds way too good and it happened that was right
I had to pay for canceling the ol Phone, Oh well, I like it and I'll catch up next month

So he left in a kind of 'huff' after our last argument, OK by me, then I went on way late to fix Dinner
I don't mind helping out a friend now and then but he pushed it a bit too far and too fast... Bye Bye

Now what's today? AHA... Saturday, maybe get a couple more loads of Soil hauled down the Mountain

~ More Rhubarb for the Latest Pie on Wednesday ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Well lessee now, did I finish up with Wednesday? Yeah, made that pie, found some Dinner and off to Dreamland
Was a pretty busy day after all after having no plans in the Morning, now what for today?
Well it is Pay Day, all my fixed rate Utility Bills to be paid by Commerce Bank are scheduled already
Now I have to see if my Social Security Check shows up in my new Discover Bank Account online
I'll schedule my variable rate Charge Account to that one, will take a little adjusting to get them all set

First thing today after getting some more loser Lottos will be to get another Buzz Cut, it's getting a bit shaggy now
And then what? Maybe a little more digging back up on the Hill? Was a fairly easy Dig on Wednesday

~ Best Rhubarb Pie I can Remember ~

So off to the Price Chopper early and got my four Tickets, and lost on four Ticketsd
Not a great start for this month, but thirty days left to try for that elusive Big One
So back to sample that latest Rhubarb Pie and it was the best I can remember... (why?)
Maybe because I added a lttle Nutmeg, I saw that in one recipe I looked up... And I like it

So then getting close to the 9 a.m. opening time at the Shear Place, so off for my Buzz Cut
That didn't take long, seems faster than my older less shorter cut
She just zips that thing around my Head all over and then... Thank ya Ma'am

Kind of another Boring day after my Shearing, lined out my Charge Accounts for Payment
Waiting to see if and when my Social Security Check shows up in my new Bank
That should be Saturday if it works out right... So... I'm ready when they are

And then, a nice day again, still at 59 Degrees and Sunny, so back up the Hill once more
I dug up the rest of that Garden Bed this time and it's ready to load up and haul the Soil down
I had one Volunteer on Facebook that offered help but he said he lost his Shovel on the way over... Oh well
I only have about six Months to complete this Project, maybe I can make it

~ Looks like a Bigger Job on Thursday ~ From the End ~ And from the Back ~

And that was about it for Thursday, into the usual Afternon and Evening, just easing out of the Day
Finished the last episode of Breaking Bad all over again, watched five Seasons of that disaster of a Program twice
I'll have to find some other series on Netflix to get bored with... And now Friday, what for today?
Well, I see my new VCR TO DVD Adapter will be here Saturday, I can get busy with that then
As for today.. A quick run to Platte City again and then wharever happens after that?

Wednesday Morning, cool... In the 50s... Fall has Fell... and out to seek my Fortune again
Headed to the Price Chopper again, no wims at all on Tuesday and again... Only a $5 Win on Wednesday
A long day ahead and Pay Day tomorrow and I really need this one, what happened to my Money in September?

Well, what to do today? What about that Rhubarb, not much left of the Growing Season
So out and arounf d to the Side Beds to pull all the biggest Stalks, leave the rest to feed the Corm<
Back around to the front Walk to cut off the Leaves, back inside to Rinse and cut and store
I now have enough Rhubarb in the Freezer for three or four Pies whenever the urge hits to Bake again

~ Last Rhubarb to be Harvested ~ Rhubard Harvested Wednesday ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Ok, on to the Day, and getting in that urge to Bake now, been thinking of that Rhubarb
But, also too nice a Day to waste just yet, out and up the Hill in back again to dig some more
And a perfect Day for digging, Sunny but Cool at 65 Dgrees, got my Spading Fork and up into that Bed
I just had a start before, two small loads I think, that first attempt, the Bed is 4 X 8 Feet and 6 to 8 inches Deep
So away I went, the going a bit easier this time, making good progress before I started getting a bit drippy
I have about 80% of that Bed loosened up now, just one small back corner to go, then some Raking and loading
And hauling and dumping the Soil in the Bed down the Hill, but I have all Winter long to do that

~ Almost have this Garden Bed Dug up for Now ~

And then back to the Price Chopper, needed Sugar, Whipped Topping, Pie Crusts, Milk, Apple Juice and Candy
Was that all? Well enough to get started on my Pie, just Sugar, Corn Starch, Nutmeg and Rhubarb in the Pot
When that simmered down a little, into the Crust, on with the top and into the Oven, an hour later... Pie

And that was for the day, except for more TV and feed the Cat and hit the Sack... Now on to Thursday and Pay Day!
