~ Another Rhubarb Harvest and One more Pie ~

~ My Tomato, My 'Nubbin' Cuke, Pat's Jalapenos ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Wednesday Morning, cool... In the 50s... Fall has Fell... and out to seek my Fortune again
Headed to the Price Chopper again, no wims at all on Tuesday and again... Only a $5 Win on Wednesday
A long day ahead and Pay Day tomorrow and I really need this one, what happened to my Money in September?

Well, what to do today? What about that Rhubarb, not much left of the Growing Season
So out and arounf d to the Side Beds to pull all the biggest Stalks, leave the rest to feed the Corm<
Back around to the front Walk to cut off the Leaves, back inside to Rinse and cut and store
I now have enough Rhubarb in the Freezer for three or four Pies whenever the urge hits to Bake again

~ Last Rhubarb to be Harvested ~ Rhubard Harvested Wednesday ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ Ready to be Cut ~ Ready for the Freezer Bag ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Ok, on to the Day, and getting in that urge to Bake now, been thinking of that Rhubarb
But, also too nice a Day to waste just yet, out and up the Hill in back again to dig some more
And a perfect Day for digging, Sunny but Cool at 65 Dgrees, got my Spading Fork and up into that Bed
I just had a start before, two small loads I think, that first attempt, the Bed is 4 X 8 Feet and 6 to 8 inches Deep
So away I went, the going a bit easier this time, making good progress before I started getting a bit drippy
I have about 80% of that Bed loosened up now, just one small back corner to go, then some Raking and loading
And hauling and dumping the Soil in the Bed down the Hill, but I have all Winter long to do that

~ Almost have this Garden Bed Dug up for Now ~

And then back to the Price Chopper, needed Sugar, Whipped Topping, Pie Crusts, Milk, Apple Juice and Candy
Was that all? Well enough to get started on my Pie, just Sugar, Corn Starch, Nutmeg and Rhubarb in the Pot
When that simmered down a little, into the Crust, on with the top and into the Oven, an hour later... Pie

And that was for the day, except for more TV and feed the Cat and hit the Sack... Now on to Thursday and Pay Day!

~ I think it's Tuesday ~
~ So What's Happening? ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ One More Meager Harvest for Sunday ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

In that Photo up in the Corner, I saw another Tomato in the Pot getting some Color, picked that
Then the Jalapenos are the ones that Pat gave me on the last Visit, and then that last dinky 'Nubbin' Cucumber
I added that to my Salad at Dinner. Still quite a few nice Tomatoes on the Plant out front, a few more up on the Hill
May get a few more 'Little Fingers' Eggplants but the Cucumbers are all done for this Season

A slow Tuesday Morning, nice and Cool and kinda Cloudy, and what's to do Today?
Just nothing on the Agenda and running low on Lotto Money, Payday not til Thursday Morning
Well, it will be in the Bank Wednesday Night ready to spend on Thursday anyway

So, looking out front, looked like the Cucumber Plant in the Pot was all finished for the Year
And that Pot is about finished too, crumbling around the top Edge, so how about a new one?
Headed then to Lowes to see what I could see, stopped in at Walmart next door first
Bought a nice new Billfold there, haven't had a new one in about 20 Years, about time

Found a nice one and at a nice Price, headed next to Lowes, looking at the Pots, lots of nice ones
I picked up two big Dark Red ones, and large enough to handle something big, big Pots seem to do better
Then headed back to Parkville, stopped at the Price Chopper for Lottos, and won NONE!

~ Two Nice Big Pots for next Spring ~

So then, back out front to pull down the Cucumber Vines, one tiny Cuke left on there
I brought that tiny morsel in, will make one bite, then to empty the Pot of Soil
Put that in the new Pots, not enough to fill them though... Pulled down the Cucumber Vine
That thing was LONG! It grew 12 feet taller from the Trellis up into the Tree, check out the Photo
I think I will grow a Cucumbers next year in a Pot next to the Deck Post, let it climb up to the Deck

~ Cucumber Vine 5 Feet up from the Pot ~ 12 Feet up into the Tree ~

Then I took the Trellis out of the Pot, then got my Porch Chair, a Bucket and my Trowel
Then had a seat and started scooping out the Soil for the new Pots, I do things the easy way
Then drilled Drainage holes in the Bottom of the new Pots, dunped all the Soil from the old Pot into the new
I had moved a pot and underneath were all these Snails, but noticed they started to move
I placed them on a Paper Towel for the Photo, then later they were all gone, trying to find sone Soil?

~ Snails under the Planter ~ Yeah, They're Alive ~

Then on to the Afternoon Routine, always the same, Cocktail, TV, find some Dinner
Tuesday was more Deli Fried Chicken, Fries, a fresh home grown Tomato and that little Cuke

Overall, another nice and fairly busy day, and here now another Wednesday to conquer...

~ Off to the Skin Doctor Again ~
~ After the Doc... Another Nice but Nothing Day ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ One More Meager Harvest for Sunday ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Off to KC Skin and Cancer Center again to see Mary... Just a check up she says, every six Months or so
It seems they always find some bump or something to Biopsy or freeze, I didn't think much this time
But I would know about 10 a.m. I was supposed to be there at 9 a.m. Monday Morning

Started out at 8:30 a.m. got there at 8:50, signed in and waited 20 Minutes...
Into the little Room, the usual routine and then waited another 15 Minutes for the Doc (NP)

Finally the Nurse Practioner came in, how are you?... Cold I said, T-shirt was off for her inspection
She flipped on a little Heater in the Corner, then started checking me out, I was hoping all clear
But no, let's freeze this... and this... about five spots... and we better Biopsy this, that was painless at least

Finally finished, she said do this and do that with the 'Efudex' and we'll see you in 16 Weeks
HAH! When has a Biopsy from there ever come out negative? Once I think, all the rest meant a come back
But at least no cutting off anything this time but that little Skin sample for the Lab, now see if I luck out

Headed back about 9:45, stopped in at the Price Chopper for $20 worth of Lottos, won back $20
Even up, was that good for the Day? Not quite, Payday in a couple Days anyway, back to trade for nothing

And then, I was thinking about the DVD Copying that my friend Pat wants when my Converter arrives
I have seven old VCR Tapes tht I wanted to check out, so I trotted up the Hill to borrow her Player
I have an old Combo DVD and VCR Player but it won't play VHS Tapes now, it plays DVDs but I have two others
So I brought her Player back and checked out my Tapes, yeah I'll convert a few of them also

Again that was it for the action of the Day, decided to make me a huge Chicken Salad Sandwich... Deelish!
Later I 'Mirrored' my Phone and played Music from You Tube on the TV and Sound Bar, that thing can crank!
Then another Glass if Vino Tinto and old TV Shows again... Ho Hummmm

So... Is it Tuesday yet? Let's get started here....

~ Anything Happening on Sunday? ~
~ Well Now... Lemmee Think ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ One More Nice Loaf of Home Baked Bread ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

And another nice Day dawned on Sunday Morning, sunny and still cool, DNP! (like they say)
So I cought up with my early Morning computer stuff as usual, wrote my BLOG for Saturday
I added my Bread Photo but I wanted a Photo to add of the Frame Shop so I headed out for that
I stopped by Kicks 66 for my Lottos first and dropped by the front of the Frame Shop on the way back
I stopped across the Street from the Shop took the Photo from my Window and then on home
I edited the Photo and added to my BLOG, uploaded the Link to Facebook then on to Breakfast

Had a nice Hot Breakfast of a Biscuit and Sausage Gravy, catching up with the TV News
Then scratched my Lottos for a Win of $25, god start... Then I noticed I was all out of Butter
Back to the Price Chopper to trade in my Lottos and get my Butter and head back all over again
This time another nice $25 Win and time to find something else to do

Out front when I came back I saw a red ripe Tomato on the 'Big Boys' Plant, picked that one
And a fair sized 'Little Fingers' Eggplant in the Pot, Picked that one too
Then up the Hill in back to check the 'Better Boys' Tomatoes, three not quite ripe ones
Looks like my Harvest is tapering off on the least productive season I have had, except for Rhubarb
Ther are a few more Tomatoes up the Hill coming along and quite a few more on the Plant out front
Looks like that might be all, Cucumbers are all done, still a nice Rhubarb harvest to be done soon

Then I set the Dishwasher going, got out my Slicer to slice, then store the Bread, put out a Steak to thaw
And put a Potato in the Oven to bake for later to go with the Steak and a Salad with a fresh picked Tomato

~ Lots of Fresh Bread for the Freezer ~

So then the afternoon TV Catchup, then out side to water all the Plants out front
That won't be cotinuing for much longer, maybe until the end of October and then into the bleak Winter all over again
Back in to finish off the day with that Steak Dinner and another Movie, How Sweet it is!

~ It was a Slow and Uneventful Saturday ~
~ Just a Not Do Much Kick-back Day ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ Time Capsule Marker Installed ~ Finito! ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

And so, after a couple really busy days a kind of get lost day, nothing much going on
I kept thinking I had some project of other to work on but there was nada!

Well, there was one thing, I met a Gentleman down on the River just before I started my Video
His son has a Picture Frame Shop at Parkville Commons, where the Price Chopper and other stores are located
We were talking about my Web Pages of Parkville Photos, he said I should stop in and talk to Jason, his Son
I told him I was planning a Video of the Canoe on the Bank of the River and would make him a DVD
And so first thing on my Lotto Trek Saturday morning I burned him a Copy and set off for the Frame Shop

~ Parkville Frame Gallery Visited ~

Jason walked in from the Back work area as I came in, I introduced myself, he said he was looking for me
He said his Dad had asked if I had showed up yet, I handed him the Canoe Video DVD for his Father
He said they would watch it together, then we talked Web Pages and Photos, a nice Chat

And then I headed around the 'Round-About' in the Commons and stopped in at the Price Chopper
Got my Lottos, not bad, One $5, and a $25 Win, then back home for a late breakfast and slow Day
Then later, I needed some stuff from the Store so back to the Price Chopper for that
And on the way back I saw that my Nature Sanctuary Friend Pat had the double Garage Doors open
That usually means she is working back there so I stopped for a chat, and it was quite a long one

We talked about the Canoe Video and the Sanctuary and TVs and DVDs and what else?
She said she had a lot of VHS Tapes she would like to convert to DVDs, this morning I ordered a Converter
I did have one but I gave it away as I wasn't using it, would be handy now and then to have another
So that might be here by next weekend and then another long project for me converting all her Tapes

Then back to El Ranchito for the long afternoon and evening, baking Bread and planning Dinner
Was quite awhile since I baked the last Loaf, I like to have some of that in the Freezer for whenever
So I mixed that up and started the Bread Maker and then some Price Chopper Deli Fried Chicken in the Oven
I made some French Fries in my 'Fry Daddy' and got some of my Bread and Butter Pickles out to go with that
Then back to watch some of my newer Videos on Vimeo on my TV and then back to Netflix to finish the Day

And so, I did find something pleasant to do on my 'No Project' Day after all

~ One More Video Shoot Friday Morning ~
~ Finally Completed the Time Capsule Video ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ A Farewell to the Camera Man at the Canoe Departure ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

On a busy Friday Morning, I spent the first part of the Day correcting a mistake on the original Canoe Video edit
I had some Music at the End synched to the Subtitles and it wasn't quite right, retimed it and rendered it
After that I burned a couple new Copies, one for me and one for Lewis Jonas
And then I took his Copy down to the Coffee House and gave it to him, then headed for City Hall

I had received an Email from the Director of Public Works saying the Capsule Marker was installed
I wanted scenes of that to finish the entire Time Cpsule, Filling, Burial and then the Marker Installed
I got my Video, was just finishing up when a Street Crew Truck arrived with one worker
He hauled out some Grass Sod and began installing that, I watched and waited, then he watered it
And I waited to get a Photo of the Sod installed around the Marker, a Policeman came out to watch
And the Streets Supervisor was there too and we had a chat while waiting and watching, it took lot of time
I was joking and said I would do that sitting down and the Policeman went into the Garage there and brought out a Chair

~ Parkville Street Department Worker hard at Work ~

So, the watering continued for a very long time, he finally stopped and I got that final Photo of the Marker
Next I stopped in at Kicks 66 for my Lottos and won a $5 and a $20... Nice start
Then I took those back to the Price Chopper to win another $5, $5, and a $10, that was all of that for the Day

Then I started on the finish of that long long Time Capsule Video, combining five separate Video shoots
Finally got that all edited and rendered and I uploaded it to replace the original Video on Vimeo

Before I set it to upload I had burned another Video of the Canoe Visit with corrections and entire Time Capsule Video
So I made Case Labels for the DVDs and took the two latest copies to the City Hall for Mayor Nan Johnston
She seemed very pleased that I took the effort to do those Videos, the Canoe one was for her personally

Then on to the rest of an otherwise uneventful Day, now when and where is the next Project... if any?
I don't plan on another Ghost Story Night Video and there will not be the Santa Trek with Jim Reed this year
They don't know if they can find another Santa or maybe sub with a Hay Ride type of thing
So I'll just go with the flow and see what comes up, seems there is always something

Now what is on the Agenda for another Saturday? Like I said.. just go with the flow...

~ A Busy Morning with Video again ~
~ A Long Afternoon Visit with a Friend to watch Them ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ Churchill Clark with a Lewis and Clark Map ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

I burned several Videos to Blu-ray Disk on Thursday Morning, then delivered them
Then delivered one to the Mayor and then one down to the Park Crew Office on the River
One of the workers, Terry Anderson, saw me at the Event, He said he would like to have a Video to share
So I took a Video down to the Parks Office but they said he was out of town but they all wanted to watch it

~ Terry Anderson, Parkville Parks Department hard at Work? ~

Then I got my Lottos and won a $15 and a $10, a little better luck but not great
And back home to do some more Video Editing, I posted one on the 'Knotty Canoe' Facebook Page
And then got a 'Thnank You' back from Churchill the next Day, he had been to a Movie Shoot
Also I saw a mention on his page that he was at the 2004 Lewis and Clark reenactment here
And I had an old VHS Video of that, thought he might like that one too
So I converted the old VOB Format from the DVD I had to .MP4 and did sme reediting
I redid the start and ending, adjusted the Sound Track a little and then uploaded it to Vimeo
And it does look a little better but still that old fuzzy VHS we used to have to put up with
Back ten we thught it was a pretty nice format for Home Videos but no wat close to the HD we have now
I'll put a copy on here in case someone in Parkville might want to remember the occasion

And then into the Afternoon, a call from my friend Kelly, on the way over to catch up with things
When he arrived I mixed him a Manhattan, a Margarita for me and we watch my latest Video creations
And he actually enjoyed some of that... HAH! He left in the early Evening and I scrounged up a late Dinner
So another busy and interesting Day, on to Friday, a couple things on the Agenda for today
First to take a Blu-ray DVD down to Lewis, the Video was from his suggetion of a Photo
And then, I got an Email from Alysen Abel, Public Works Director, says the Time Capsule Marker was installed
So I'll try to stop by City Hall and get the Final Shot for the Video, then a final Edit of that one

So again, a good day for the Race... HUH? The 'Human Race' I mean... Charge!

~ An Unexpected Busy Busy Day ~
~ And One More Video ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ All the Soil I wanted to move Down the Hill on Tuesday ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

And so, Wednesday Morning, what's on the Agenda? Well, I had those three nice Tomatoes
And I hadn't been to the Coffee House for three weeks, thought I would take Lewis a couple of them
He was there with Ann and Marc Seibert and Bob Fluchel... Lewis said I had to get down to the River
Ann showed me a Photo of a dugout Canoe, Lewis said it was carved my Churchill Clark
The great great great great Grandson of William Clark of the Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery Expedition
I gave Lewis his Tomatoes, got great thanks and headed for the Price Chopper for my Lottos
Back home to scratch of a $15 Win, pack up my Canon DSLR and head down to the Park and the River
And there was the Canoe and a Pile of Camping stuff Churchill Clark had brought with him

~ The Churchill Clark Dugout Canoe on the River ~

I had thought that I would just get a few Photos to Post but I talked to some City Park Employees working there
They said that Churchill was in Town having Breakfast with a City Alderman and would be back soon
So as my Canon DSLR will also take HD Video I decided to try for that when he got back and took some Stills first

Well, it was not 'soon'... It was then about 10 a.m. and I waited, and waited, and found a Bench and waited some more
Finally around 11 a.m. I saw a Car and Truck heading in the Park, hoped that was Churchill
They stopped at the top of the Boat Ramp, Mayor Nan Johnston was driving, Churchill was her Passenger
Neil Davidson with the Parkville Parks Department was driving the Pickup truck
Mayor Johnston said Hi, they got out, walked down the Boat Ramp and then gave me a little Intro for my Video
Then Churchill started packing up with Neil Davidson giving a helping hand on that, I got Video while they loaded the Canoe
A Sand Barge going up the River and then back down delayed things a bit, the Wake a bit much for the Canoe
They were finally loaded up around Noon, Churchill got in his Canoe and headed down River
He was on the way he said to a 'Movie' shoot, so he is a Movie Star as well as a Video Star!
Really talkative and friendly guy, gave me a great Handshake while I was Videoing his departure

And then I headed wearily back to el Ranchito, really tuckered out, long walk from the parking area for me
But I then mixed a Manhattan and began loading and editing my Stills and Video, rendered and uploaded it

On to a nice end to my busy Day, whupped up a tasty baked Hamburger Steak, boiled Potato, Beef Gravy over all
And a nice healthy Helping of Broccoli and Cheese Sauce, yeah... I can cook nicely now and then

Finished the Day with a glass of Wine and watched my newly upoaded Video, then some more Netflix
Now a busy start for Thursday with more of my Video, burning a Blu-ray DVD for her Honor, the Mayor

~ Out Early to Move some Topsoil ~
~ Picked a Couple More Tomatoes ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Out and up the Hill about 8:20 a.m. Cloudy and Cool with a nice Breeze, just right for some peon labor
A lot of work to move all that Soil down the Hill but that stuff cost a couple Hundred Bucks
Of course that was spread over several years as I added a few Sacks of Soil now and then
Anyway, I trundled my 'AeroCart' around back and up the Hill to the old Pepper Bed Site
I began using my Spading Fork to start then shoveling the Soil into the Cart, soon had the first Load
And down the Hill to dump the first Load, back up the Hill for two more Loads... Enough for the Day for me

~ The Soil goes from Here ~ To down Here ~

And so, dripping wet again even though it was still nice and cool, back in at 9:10 or so
Where is that Mexican friend Odelon when I need some help, Oh well, Boss Bob pays him to do his stuff

And then out to try to find the Pot of Gold, it has been eluding me the past few days
So I tried at the Price Chopper and Kicks 66 and only came up with $15 in wins, still in that slump

On the way back in last trip I saw a couple more Tomatoes geting some Color, picked those
Added those to the one I picked a few days ago, that one fully ripe now, seems they ripen faster if you pick them

~ Three More Nice 'Big Boys' Tomatoes ~

I was still pretty well worn out from my Morning's digging, getting OLD darn it
So then I mixed a Margarita and whiled away a very slow Afternoon watching the hullaboo about the Pope
I can't see why so many people get so worked up about someone like the 'Royals' in England visiting
And now the Pope getting all the attention... The China head Man is here too, who's next?

Now 'Hump Day' again... Like they used to say 'Halfway thru the Working Week'... Well I gave that up 28 Years ago
I'll just be happy doing one of my 'Non Working Week Days' again, now lessee what's happening today

~ A Slow Monday Morning ~
~ Some more Digging in the Afternoon ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

And, that Animation of in the Corner, was when I built the first Bed out back
It was too close to the Trees and when the Plants started growing there was too much shade
So I decided to move it way up the Hill there was more Sun back there then
So I moved the Frame up there and then the Soil and then the Plants that I had started
And the Crops went fairly well for that first Year, later as the big Trees grew more the Shade increased
So now back down the Hill into the sunniest spot in the back Yard

And so... Sure nothing going on for Monday Morning, a slow start and slow until Noon-thirty
Just computer catch up stuff to start, the usual routine, then some work with my new Bank Account
I decided to take Discover Bank's Offer and open a Checking Account there
And I changed the deposit of my Social Security check to that one to pay some of my Bills
They offered me $50 to open the Account and then I get rewards for using the Debit Card and Checks
Everything is free there including Checks so how could I lose on that deal... and so
I thought I would pay my variable Charge Accounts with that one and my fixed ones with my regular Account
And I got online to add that new Account to all my Charges I pay online and changed my Phone Number while at it

Then off for my Lottos, still not winning... Only $10 for Monday, need to get out of this slump
After working my Lottos and having Breakfast I wandered out front to Water everything
Cool and cloudy to start, the plants not needing as much water as on those really Hot Days in August
Then about 1 p.m. out in back again, leveling the Soil in tha Pepper Bed, that's heavy duty for me
Got my Spading Fork and dug down in the Sod in the back of the Bed, had to do about half, front to rear
Then I raked the Sod and Soil from Back to front, got it fairly level, now just need to load the good Soil on top
And as I said, no hurry for that, just something to do when I get in the Mood, that's a lot of Soil up there

~ Dug down in Back ~ Raked Soil to Front ~

Now just wait for the Tomatoes in that third Bed to ripen and Harvest, that stops about the first Freeze, late October maybe?
And after that Bed is moved down and the Soil moved, all done until Spring Planting back there

Then into the usual Afternoon and Evening, getting into another rut there, but that' easing off time
Now Tuesday Morning, what now? Well, maybe up the Hill again to start moving that Topsoil down Hill?

Off we go... into the Wild Blue Somewhere!

~ Finished Assembly of the Pepper Bed ~
~ And Nothing much else of Interest ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Headed up the Hill early Sunday Morning, nice and cool and the Sun not up yet
I brought doen the Ends and Gates for the Pepper Bed, started reassembly, oops, Drill Battery Low
So I came back, put it on the Charger and headed to the Price Chopper for my Lottos
And back fr a secod Cup of Coffee and worked off exactly NOTHING! Again

So I had some Breakfast and TV News catchup and then back out to try again
And this time things went smoothly and I got the Bed all put back together, next the Soil

~ The Pepper Bed Reassembled ~ Now Where's the Soil? ~

No real hurry for that, no planting in there until next spring in, now just wait to harvest the last Tomatoes
Then I can disassemble the last Garden Bed up there and bring it down to the full Sunshine
And hope for a lot of better Weather next Spring and summer, maybe some better Crops

After a little cool off and rest I took some old boards back to the Bed and placed them in the Base
That to cover a gap in each side front to hold in the Soil, then I raked some Soil down
I was all dripping wet by then and got a Phone Call on the way back in, my Friend Kelly
Talked to him all the way back in and then for an hour, he never seems to run down
And talking about things I really have no interest in, guess he gets lonely?

So finally in to the Shower and on about my Day, back to the Price Chopper to get more Lottos
And again back to win nothing, a three or four Day unlucky streak now?

And the rest of the Day was pure routine again, an okay time but nothing to write home about
So what planned for today? Maybe do a bit more digging to level out the hump in the back of that Bed
It is on a slope and I like to have the bottom sort of level before putting the Good Garden Soil back

And of course I'll try some Lottos again but have to be careful, running a bit low on spendables this Month

Monday Again! Off to the new Day and New Week!

~ Another Windows 10 Insider Build ~
~ And still more Digging on the Hill ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ One more 'Big Boys' Tomato getting Ripe ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Didn't mention on the last BLOG that I noticed that nice Tomato beginning to change Color a couple daya ago
And since it will only take a few days to ripen now I decided to pick it so the Squirrels couldn't get it
There more nice ones on that Plant and I'll watch them close, don't want to lose any more of them

So, Saturday Morning, put the Coffee on then started up my Dell Desktop Number Two and a Notification popped up
Said 'Announcing Windows 10 Insider Build number 10547', then a list of the latest changes
So I fired up the other two Desktops and my Laptop and got the Update downloading on all
Finished up my Friday BLOG on this Dell Desktop One as it was downloading, snd finished that juat as I finished my BLOG

~ Windows 10 Insider Build 10547 ~

And then a little after 9 a.m. Some Anti-Bug Spray, and back up the Hill to dig some more
The Temp was in the middle 50s... Nice and cool to start, Sunny and Bright though, dug in my Project
I had the trench about half as deep as it needed to be, all heavy wet turf and I worked along slowly
And it looked deep enough so I flipped the Base back up in position, just right on one end, not enough on the other
So I worked a little on the shallow end, was getting drippy and thirsty so I came back in at 9:30 for a Drink and Break

Back out about 10 a.m. to tackle it again, I needed my Mexican Friend Odelon for this job
I did some more digging, tried again, still not deep enough in back, back in about 10:15
Watched some TV and drank some Water while I was cooling off, I was dripping again, not hot but tedious
Back out once more at 10:30, more digging and raking, and did better this time out, nice and level

~ The Pepper Bed all Leveled Out ~

So, back in at 11 a.m. Time to get on with the Play Day, into the Shower first, then Breakfast at Noon
And then off to the Price CHopper, needed a couple Items and of course my Play Tckets
Still in my losing streak, won nothing again, and only... what... Yeah, $10 on Friday
So on to the rest of the Day and sure not much going on, I did run by City Hall to check the Marker
They said they would let me know but it's been over a week, still it isn't there

So then, I fed the Cat, I fed the Hummingbirds, two Feeders to fill with Sugar Syrup...
And to finish off the Day.... I fed me... Now, back up te Hill on Sunday

~ Rainy Morning on Friday ~
~ A Little more Digging on the Hill ~

~ Found a Cantaloupe ~ Not a very Promisimg Looking One ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Up and at 'em at 6 a.m. on Friday, started my Computer piddling around as usual
A couple of Photos to edit and add to my Daily Drivel, check the Bank, read the Email, Facebook comments
Around 7 a.m. or so, some T-Rumbles off in the distance and light Rain out front
Then louder Rumbles and more Rain, no digging up on the Hill that morning looked like
So, into and out of the Shower and off to the Price Chopper in the very light Drizzle
A few Items I forgot on Thursday, a Jug of Vino Tinto y un Botella de Lunazul Tequila, running low on both
Some necessary Paper Producta and Lookee there!, nice looking Apple Fritters on sale for Breakfast

And of course my Daily Lottos and back to scratch off a single $5 Winner, two loser Days im a row
How can anyone live like that?, well off to a boring day to find out

And it was a slow, boring and rainy Morning but the Rain began to let up sometime after Noon
Still nice and Cool and the Sun peeked out, how about some digging in that wet Grass out back?
So I headed up the Hill to get my Rake and Spading Fork from the old Garden Bed site
Back down to the new Site, flipped the Bed Base over and out of the way and started in
The grass was wet and the ground was a bit Muddy but I made some good progress, got the outline dug
Then the Sun was getting a bit warm and I was dripping in that heat and humidity, that was enough for a start
I'm thinking I was about halfway getting that back trench deep enough to level the Bed, maybe more Saturday?

~ Some More Leveling ~ Need a Little Deeper in Back ~

And back in about 2 p.m. to cool off and find something to finish out the afternoon, 'What's for Dinner?'
I had a big bunch of Broccoli I bought on Thursday, decided to fix that up with some Cheese Sauce
Finished out the Dinner with some more of that Smoked Chicken and more Eggplants Nuggets at TV time later

Later, out to feed the stray Cat, now getting less 'stray' every Day, he is getting friendlier
When I would go out he would be waiting any time of Day, and would wander around rubbing against the Bench and Plant Pots
And getting closer to me, yesterday he made several passes just brushing my Pants Leg
Then for the first time actually pushed closer to my Leg, somehow Cats seem to like me and this one also

The rest of the late afternoon and evening was the usual, Margarita, then Dinner and TV
I finished that Evening doing a 'Screen Mirror' from my Phone to my TV and playing Music
From You Tube, to my Phone then to the TV and Sound output from my Sound Bar, sounds GREAT!

I just love today's Tech! Yeah!... Now on to another good Day?

~ Back up the Hill again Thursday ~
~ More Lotto Steaks and Burgers Arrive ~

Up the Hill again on Thursday Morning just before the Sun peeked over the Building
I had moved the Ends of the Cucumber Bed down to the new position Wednesday, fastened them on the Base
And then the top Supports front and back, then back up the Hill and brought down the Trellis
Fastened that on then brought down the front and back Gates, set them in position, set the latches and Wah Lah!
Looks good, now just needs filling with the Soil from up top, that can wait for now
Next thing is to level the back of that big Pepper Bed and that will take some digging, maybe on Friday?

~ Cucumber Bed Reassembled ~ Pepper Bed waiting for Leveling ~

I saw a new Cantaloupe a day or so ago in the Tomato Bed, looks kinda flat on one side, don't think it will be usable
And there were a couple 'Little Fingers' Eggplants in the old Pepper Bed location, need to pick those
A few more getting some size in the Pot out front, maybe I'll do some more 'Eggplant Nuggets'<
And another look from my Garden Bench up on the hill Wednesday Afternoon and then on to the rest of the Day

~ View of the new Bed Position from my Bench ~

Then a trot up the Hills in my Blazer to the Price Chopper for Lottos, got four of my Favorites
Back home to scratch off four losers, and back to my losing streak... Oh, Woe is me
Now, that wait for the Man in the Big Brown Truck, bringing another Cooler full of Steaks and Burgers
That has to be five or six Coolers of those things I have received from the loser Lotto Tickets, so losing isn't all bad

Still waiting for the UPS Man at 2 p.m. And I wanted to go to the Price Chopper, needed a couple things
I took the Trash out to the Bin, trotted up the Hill to pick those Egglants, two had bug bites, one was OK
Then back in front to get another seven from the Plant in the Pot, will make one serving

~ More 'Little Fingers' for Deep Fried 'Nuggets' ~

And finally around 4 p.m. the UPS Man showed up with my Steaka and Burgers, not such a big box this time
I like the Steaks and Burgers best so I just selected the lesser Prize this time, but a nice load at that

~ Latest Lotto Prize Delivered ~

And I was waiting to head to the Price Chopper, I needed a couple things there for Dinner and whatever
So I put my Package in the Kitchen, headed out for the things I needed, got them and headed back for Dinner
I had already cut the Eggplants into 'nuggets', no need to peel them, battered, 'Pankoed' and into the fridge to set up<
I had a hunk of smoked Chicken in the Oven, heating up, filled my Fry Daddy with Peanut Oil
At Dinner time, I plugged in my 'Fry Daddy', when Hot, in with the battered Nuggets, then fried up to a Crisp
Finished up another long but pleasant Day with a nice Dinner and TV Show... Off to Frday now

~ Back up the Hill Early Wednesday ~
~ Moved the Pepper Bed Downhill ~

Back up the Hill Wednesday Morning about 6:45 a.m. Still dark and Cool, best time to work
I used my Spading Fork to pry around the edges of the Pepper Bed, lifting it from the Soil
Then I got under the back side and flipped it out on the slope, then dragged it down
And that thing is HEAVY! So it took me a step at a time walking backwards to get it all the way
Then I flipped it upright next to the Cucumber Bed and lined it up, in this Photo the Cucumber Bed is level
I'll have to prop up the right side of the Pepper Bed to level it, then the long process of filling with Soil

~ Pepper Bed Down the Hill to Join the Cucumber Bed ~

So then I did my Lottos running around, not a big Winner Day.. Oh well, so back home to head out back again
Sunny and Hot then but I did level up the Pepper Bed Horizontally, next, have do some digging to level it top side

~ Pepper Bed Level in Front ~ Needs to be leveled in back ~

On into the HOT afternoon, summer is back for a couple Days, I wanted to get back up on the Hill
But I waited until I had some shade back there and then went back up awhile, brought the Cucumber Cage ends down
Didn't have my Tools to fasten them on so I decided to wait for cooler weather, like Thursday Morning

Finished up another Nice Day the usual way, but did watch a lot of the Republican Debate. Ho hum
And I did decide on two of my favorites to run, one doesn't have much chance, the other maybe some
It would be fun to see Trump get the Nomination but might be a disaster if he did win the Election

Anyway, I grilled another (the last) of those Omaha Steak Sirloins and baked a Tater for Dinner
And this Morning, Thursday, I see another Shipment of Omaha Steaks and Burgers is due today
But first, back up the Hill to work on those Bed Movements some more.... CHARGE!

~ That Nice Lotto Win for Monday ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Up the Hill at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, nice and cool, moved the Cucumber Bed Base down the Hill, placed and leveled it
That old Lumber is damp and heavy, but I got it down the Hill, dug a couple leveling grooves and set the Sub Base
Then I set the Base on top, it leveled up really easy, then in with some rocks and logs to fill the front of the base some
And then, out with the AeroCart to haul some Soil down the hill, not so easy, I got one load and that was for that Morning

~ First Load of Soil after the Move ~ One Bed in Place, Two to Go ~

And then off to see the Wizard, to the Price Chopper three times amd then won a $5, $5, $5, $5, $5, $10, $10 and a $20
Then I tried the Fast Stop, down the Hill one more time and only won another $10, $75 of Winners for the day but NO Profit
But the name of the Game is the thrill of the Chase and hoping for that elusive BIG ONE.... Some Day!

And then, about 1 p.m. or so, got the idea to head back up the Hill for some more Bed Moving
This time taking the Ends off the Pepper Bed, get it ready to move down to the new spot
Took a little longer and more effort that I thought, took the front and Backgate off first, that's easy
But I had stapled some Netting over the top to keep the Deer off my Cucumbers, that took quite some snipping
That done, then I had some wires in the Center of the Bed to strengthen it, took those off
Then the Cage ends, quite a few Screws and Brackets holding those on, finally got them all off
Then I moved the removed Parts between the Beds, now that Bed is ready to pry up and haul down the Hill

~ The Pepper Bed Stripped and ready to Bring down ~

About the hardest thing working up on that Hill is just walking around and trying to stay upright
The ground is steep, uneven and some places very soft from all the Moles digging around up there
So moving the Beds downhill would help on that a lot... And that little amount of work wore me out pretty good
Back inside then to cool off and rest some, mix a Margarita and get something going for Dinner
That was pretty well all for the Day for Tuesday, now what for Wednesday?, thinking moving the Pepper Bed Base down
No hurry to bring all the Soil down and reassemble the Beds, no planting til next Spring
And there are still Tomatoes in the Tomato Bed so that one will have to wait until later

Now... look out Wednesday... here I come.... !

~ Started Moving the Garden Beds ~
~ Picked Cucumbers and made more Pickles ~

~ That Nice Lotto Win for Sunday ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Out on my Treasure Hunt again, to Kicks 66 to win a $50 and $10 Ticket, then the Price Chopper for a $5 Win
Once more to the Fast Stop and won a $5 and a $10, how much is that? $80? I think there was some Profit there
So my 'Wild Goose Chase' was getting tamer... I still had the Itch to try, when did I ever not?
And then back once more to the Price Chopper and then won a $5, $10 and a $20... $115 for the day and some profit
So, once more, down the Hill to the Fast Stop... I wanted a Winner I have to go to Independence to Cash
And this time a complete No-Go... But as they say... It was Fun waren't it?

So I had a couple things to say to the Complex Manager and I stopped in the Office
And we had our chit and chat and me bragging about my last three days Winnings and then...
I told him I was about to give up on my Garden back up on the Hill, big Trees growing fast and too much shade
He said maybe he could have some Tree trimming done, I said a waste of money, for what little I grew
And then he suggested moving the Beds down some, I said it had to be a lot, maybe the edge of the drainage Ditch
And that I didn't think he would approve that, he said it's out back, no problem, go ahead! Just what I wanted

~ Big Project Ahead for Me ~

~ Step One, Pry up the Base ~ Step Two, Sub Base Goes Here ~

~ One Almost Down ~ Two to Go ~

So, up the Hill to get started, took off the Front and back Gates of the Cucumber Bed, pried up the Base, separated it from the Sub Base
Took the Sub Base down the Hill to check the new position of the Bed, back up to take off the Trellis and side Frames
Enough for the Day, back in to cool off... Next... Level the Sub Base, attach the Base, then move all that Soil down the Hill
That will be something to start on Tomorrow (Tuesday)... if the Weather and my mood are satisfactory

While I was up on the Hill I saw a few more 'nubbins' and one good sized Cucumber, found a couple more out frnt
So, I had some Pickling Brine left from a week or so ago in the Fridge, I put that in a Pot to Boil
Then I sliced up all the Nubbins and Cuke and plopped them in the Pot, let those simmer a bit and into a Jar

~ More Cucumbers Monday ~ Then More Pickles ~

That was about it for Projects for Monday, on into the usual Afternoon and Evening, another nice Day

And now starting on Tuesday, what? Up that Hill to work on the Garden Bed moving again? Let's go!
