~ Marigolds Planted Monday ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

The usual runaround Tuesday Morning, won some, lost some, don't know if I was ahead or not
Doesn't make a lot of difference, the thrill is in the chase for that Big One I can never catch

Back home I trotted up the Hill in back to get a Photo of my Spinach which is emerging
Got a Photo, edited it then lost it, don't know where it went, oh well, get another one
Then I rearranged the Flower Plants out front, that will continue as I add more

~ Latest Flowers out in Front Tuesday ~

Later I thought I would start replacing some dead plants at the next Building, the Surge I planted there died
Wasn't having much luck planting there, more plants died than lived, four Roses there doing so-so now
Anyway, I thought I would try again, pulled out the dead Spurge Plants, raked back the Mulch
Then started digging two holes, deeper than the first tries, I wanted to try Boxwood over there
I worked about an hour or more on that, then went to the Office to talk to Boss Bob<

~ Excavating Done ~ Let's Go Get some Bushes ~

Told him I was ready to plant replacement Bushes and he called the 'Grass Pad' to tell them I was coming
I headed up there, a really nice drive in the beautiful North back Country, found some nice Boxwoods
The man took them to my Blazer, I headed to the Checkout to pay for them, got the Apartment discount
Then back to give the Receipt to Boss Bob, he gave me a check and a cash Bonus for planting them... Nice!
And then back down the Hill, worked to get the holes somewhat larger then in with the new Bushes

~ New Boxwood Bushes Planted on Tuesday ~

Looking good for now, have to keep them watered and hope these last longer than the last tries
And that project about wore me out for the Day, went back to watch TV, then had to lie down a bit
After a nap I got up to find some Dinner, a little more TV and off to Bed

And so Wednesday Morning... What to do today... Oh, back up the Hill to get a Spinach Photo
Then some Lottos, maybe a couple Winners? And then what? Well I'll find something to do

~ Another Video Trip to Kansas City ~
~ Finished the Short leaf Band Video ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ Mike and Tenley at the Dubliner Bar ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

And off to another Monday, first to the Price Chopper, bought $15 worth of Lottos, won only $5
Went back to trade, lost that $5 also, zilch for the Treasure Hunt on Monday

And so then, I worked on finishing up that latest Shortleaf Band Video
Then I burned a Blu-ray DVD of it and watched it on my TV and was not pleased
That should teach me not to try a Concert Video without my trusty heavy duty Tripod
I did use my Monopod some, but that is sure not a replacement for a nice steady Tripod for long shots
I didn't like the jiggly opening Street Scenes I recorded and then some shaky spots during the Performance

So, nothing I could do about the Video of the Performance but I could redo the opening and closing Shots
Then... I packed up my Camera and Tripod and headed back to Kansas City and the KCPL District
There I redid the opening Scene of the Sprint Center, then the exterior of the Power and Light District
Then some interior shots, the Berliner Bar and then the exit scenes on the way out

And then back the Ranch for the final edit of the Video with my new Scenes
I wanted an opening shot of the Drive entering Kansas City and used one from a previous KC Trip Video
Next I deleted my shaky opening scenes and replaced them with the new steady ones
Finally added a few shots leaving the Entertainment Area and set the Video to render

~ Kansas City Power and Light Entertainment District ~

~ Performance was in the Dubliner Bar ~

After the Video rendered and saved to my Hard Drive I set it to upload to Vimeo, left that uploading at Bedtime
Now this Morning (Tuesday) it is all uploaded to Vimeo and ready to bore the Onlookers
So next I'll burn a couple new Blu-rays of the final edit for Mike and Tenley and maybe Lewis if he wants one
And here is the final edit of the Video with the added Kansas City footage, it is over a half hour long
So if you are not a fan of this type of music you will be bored, but I wanted to do this for Mike and Tenley

On the way back from Kansas City I stopped in at Riverside at Larry's Nursery to buy some Marigolds
Then back home, went to work on that Video, after that was edited and rendering I went out front to plant them
Beginning to look good out front, adding a few plants at a time, waiting for that warmer Weather for some
Spring has sprung and Summer is on the way... Best times of the year... (well, Fall is nice too)

Now Off to the New Day with Gusto! Mucho gusto Senor!

~ The Rains Came and Departed ~

~ Rainy Sunday Morning ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Well where was I Sunday Morning? Oh yeah, thinking of the Video and hoping the Rain would end
And what to do on a wet day before time to head over to downtown Kansas City
Well first, to head to the Price Chopper again to search for the Pot of Gold
And bought $20 worth of Losers again... Woe is me! And LOOK! They had a Big Peanut out in front

~ Large Peanut in front of the Price Chopper ~

Oh Oh... Should have checked to see if they were giving out free samples
Anyway, on to the Day, the Rain stopped about 10 a.m. Hope it warms up a bit for the Video
And... I ran out of space in my SD Video Card last time, was thinking of getting a larger Card
I checked the ones I had on hand, I forgot the 32 GB Micro SD I had from that Tablet I gave away
I had been using a 16 GB, never needed more before, but now I had that 32 GB in my Camera for Sunday

And on into a long slow Afternoon and the Sun came out and it warmed up some
I watched TV as the minutes crept by, finally sneaking up on 3 p.m. and Pat came by at 5 minutes to
She came in, I showed her a couple things about my Camera she would use and then we loaded up
She drove as I wanted to get some Video approaching the Kansas City skyline
And she made me put on the Seat Belt which I haven't done in thirty years or more
I believe I am too lucky to get smashed up on a car crash and besides a seat belt is against my religion

And on to Downtown Kansas City, found a place to park right next door, well it was a Sunday
And then I got some exterior shots of the Buildings and then on into the Stage Area
It was five minutes until Show Time but the stage was empty, where were they anyway?
So we looked around, a lot of places there opened into the vast open Stage Area
Pat said they might be performing in the Dubliner Bar at one end of the Area, we went in to check
Asked the Lady at the entrance, she didn't know... But we looked up on their Stage and there they were
They were still setting up, testing out the Sound System, and the Sound Man was having problems
He must have worked on it for a half hour before they were ready to go... then away they went

And then I got some Video of their songs, more than I need to finish out what I already have
But the Lighting was too dark for a good Video but I'll try with what I ended up with
So, Pat and I finished up somewhere after 5 p.m. and headed back, unloaded, she left, good trip over all

Then I mixed a late Manhattan, loaded my Video into the Computer and started the edit
So far not happy with the quality of the Video but I'll work on it today (Monday)
The Idea is there but the Video and Sound are just not what I had hoped for
Oh Well... I'll try and see what results.. may have to try another Performance somewhere else again

Now... Off again to the Video Editor....

Well I get mixed up, writing about Saturday on Sunday Morning, all wet out there now
The Weather Guy said we would get some rain on Sunday Morning and here it is, hope it stops soon
Planning to head over to the KC Power and Light District Sunday afternoon
I want to get a couple more songs to finish out the Short Leaf Band Concert Video
I got a Message on Yahoo from Pat Harris, offering to assist on the Video and to drive
That would be good to have a Ssecond Camera, also to be able to Video Kansas City on the way
And so, I hope the rain will stop by 3 p.m. this afternoon

And for Saturday, nothing special, the usual runing around for Lottos, a small loss for the Day
I put the Plants back out front, looks like warm enough nights the rest of the week anyway
And the only other Gardening was to drag the Hose up the Hill to water everything
And as usual after I do that, we get some Rain, but that won't hurt anything and helps some

So for this Morning, just the usual runaround and then find something to do until Pat comes by at 3 p.m.

Off we go... into the Wild Blue Somewhere!

~ Another New Zealand Impatiens Planted ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

So, I thought I had won a $25 Lotto on Thursday, but when I traded it in, it was a $50 one!
So that made my Winnings for the Day at a $62.00 Profit, not too shabby
Then Friday Morning I bought $15 more and scratched off a $10 Win but I would like a bit more than that

So the Temp didn't get down as low Thursday Night as the Guy said, now Sunny and Temp rising fast
But they say maybe in the 30s again tonight, might have to bring the Plants inside again

I headed downtown to the Coffee House again Friday Morning but Lewis was not there
He said he had to go into Treatment every Day for a month, maybe that's where he was
So after that I just headed to the Price Chopper for a few Items and my Lottos
Back home to scratch off that $10 WIn and then back to Kicks 66 to try again
And again I kept winning enough to go back for more, not sure what the total was but I think I was ahead

So, looking back to Wednesday when I tried to Install Windows 10 on my HP Hard Drive
Well, it sure didn't work again, and messed up Windows 7 on the SSD somewhat also
When I tried to go back and Boot from the SSD it wanted to go into some Disk Checking Routine
So it was messing up on both the HD and SSD.. What to do? Well, a 'clean' Reinstall of Windows 7 on the HD
And that took most of the afternoon, then had to start putting all the Programs and Data back
Finally finished that Saturday Morning, still not all my Programs back on the HD
But... Still had all that Data and Programs on the SSD if it would still Boot from that
So I shut down, plugged the SSD back in and Booted up from that... And a successful Boot!
So I am back at least with Windows 7 on the SSD and the HD like it was before I started playing
I was just having no luck installing Windows 8.1 or Windows 10 on the HP

Maybe I just better quit fooling around and wait to see it the Final Releas of Windows 10 will install
But do I ever leave 'Well Enough' alone? HAH! Now on to a nice Weather Day on Saturday

Looked a bit gloomy early Thursday Morning but the Sun came out and it warmed up and brightened up
And I headed to Walmart to return a purchase of the wrong Batteries and pick up an order of the right ones
Stopped in at the Price CHopper on the way and got my Lottos, not bad, won my $20 back
Then I went to Kicks 66 to trade and lost $10 of my Winnings, that was it for the Day
Then up the Hill in back to check my back Garden Beds and got a Photo of the Radishes doing well

~ Pat's White Radishes Looking Good ~

And that was NOT all the Lottos for the Day, I took my small Winnings back and won more
And I kept going back as long as I kept winning some and then winnng more
I hit everyone of the usual places that I buy my Tickets plus one more place
And then, thought I would go get another Impatiens for out front, headed for Larry's Nursery

It sure is tempting to buy a lot more Plants, he has a Wonderland of them in there

But I just bought one, a nice bright red New Zealand Inpatiens, he has a lot of Colors

~ The New Lineup of the Flowers out Front ~

Then I went next door to the Riverside RED X to trade in my latest winners
I traded in $15 of Winners for $15 more Tickets and then won $30 back
Then I planted that latest Impatiens and on into the Afternoon, mixed my Manhattan
Then thought about sitting out front again, but it was getting colder and Cloudy
Started out Sunny and nice, got to about 80 then started dropping after Noon
On to the TV, later the Weatherman said it would get down to the 30s so I brought my Flowers in

~ Then Brought the Flowers Inside ~

Finished out the Day with some fresh made Potato Salad and a Burger from my Lottos Prize Meat pack
Now, Friday Morning, see it didn't get as Cold as forecast, and they say wil warm up fast
So, I'll go trade in half of my Lotto Win for more and then take all that stuff back outside

Wednesday Morning, kind of gloomy looking, saying we might get some rain
Good, the plants out in back need a little Water, was thinking of dragging the Hose up there
No plans for the Day, other than getting my Lottos and then waiting for that Doctor Appointment at 1 p.m.
So I got my Morning Runaround out of the way then decided to play with my Computer
I had tried to install Windows 10 Trial Release on the SSD in the HP Desktop but it wouldn't install
What if I tried to install it on the original Hard Drive in that Computer?

So I unplugged the SSD in the Computer so that it would Boot from the Hard Drive
OK that done, I got online to start the Download and Install of the Windows 10 Trial
And it started the process which takes awhile but it seemed to be working
After quite a long time it finally got to the stage where it asked for legal permission to Install
I said OK and away it went... and it was still installing when I had to leave for the Doctor at 1 p.m.

Got to the Doctor 15 minutes early and had a seat, and was called in one minute before my Appointment time
I think that's the first time that ever happened, it must have been a slack Day
The Nurse Assistant escorted me to the same room where I got the two Biopsys last time
A few questions and BP check and got me situated in the big treatment Chair, leaned me back
And then in came the Doctor and they started in the tedious process of removing the Carcinoma

First the Doctor marked the area outline with a pen and left, then the Nurse took over
She started with the numbing Injections, hardly felt much of anything after the first poke
But she used several syringes to numb the area, three or four times to get another one
Then she left to call in the Doctor, Mary came back in and they started in

And it took quite awhile, I was only feeling the slight pressure as she worked away
Must have been a good sized area but finally she began the stitches and at last all done
Then the Bandaging, they wrapped my Arm up in a bright Red and Pink wrap and off I went

~ Am I in Fashion or What? ~

So, when I got back the Windows 10 Install was still running and ran all afternoon
And I just puttered around with this and that, moved the rest of the Plants outside
Then moved my 'Garden Shelf' into my Bedroom, can stack stuff on it there

~ Put the Pineapples Out Front ~

The Weather had brightened and warmed up nicely, I mixed my Manhattan and sat ouside
Enjoying the nice Weather, the Pear Tree Blossoms and the Birds flitting around

Enough of that and then back in for the TV Session, and then the Rains came
A nice steady rain for awhile, good, we needed that... Then it stopped, cleared up some again
Then on to Dinner and a late Movie and a couple Tylenols and off to Bed

Now what's on the Agenda for Thursday? Beats me...

~ Ever Onward and Upward ~

And so, Monday afternoon I decided to try to rescue some Video from my attempt at Bentley Studios
I did have one complete Song on the Video I got with my Canon DSLR and some good Audience shots
So I put that all together with a couple Clips of the Band's appearance at the Parkville Nature Center
And a couple more from their appearance on the River at Platte Landing Park
That was a start on a nice Video of the Band's performances, just need a couple more Songs
So I called Mike Fraser and asked when they were going to play again and he said this Sunday
And that would be at the KC Power and Light District in downtown Kansas City
Then if got some good Video there it would finish out a pretty nice little Video

I made a Web Page and embedded the Video there after uploading it to my Vimeo Site
So far it is not quite ten Minutes long, anyone might want to take a Peek, here it is

And so, Tuesday Morning, nice and warm and going to get to 85... How nice, the Flowers will like that
I put some stuff out a little early, with some good luck maybe they will make it

And then, I thought I would run down to the Coffee Shop and show Lewis my Video
Another Couple of Nature Sanctuary people were there, they got their Coffee, chatted awhile and left
Then alone with Lewis, we got in some real good Chat and I showed him my Video on my Laptop
Then about 9:45 or so, time to head out to trade in the $21 of Lottos I had just won for $13 more Wins

And I had a nice little winning streak, not winning a lot but getting enough to run back and trade for more
I don't expect to make any real money with this but it's fun and my goal is someday that BIG ONE!

Anyway my money finally ran down and that was it for the Day, and... I have been keeping track of Winners
I have three Favorite Cards each day, but I noticed that I win more on the $5 Card consistantly
The other two $3 Cards are fun to work but don't pay off much even though the winning odds are the same
So I decided now to just buy three $5 Cards instead of the two $5 and two $3 Cards each day

Other than that about to only thing going was to water the Plants out front
And then mix my Manhattan and sip it out front, enjoying that fine Weather and watching the Birds

And today, I was planning to water the stuff out back, but they say we might get rain
So I'll wait to see, and then at 1 p.m. have to hear to KC Skin and Cancer Center
Mary wants to cut a hunk out of my Arm to remove a Squamous Cell Carcinoma.. always fun time

Then when they get around to it, another Basal Cell Carcinoma on my Head... Again!<
That will be another Mohs Surgery by Doctor Mark Cohen... Off we go!

First thing on a cool cloudy Monday Morning, off to the Price Chopper for Lottos
Back home to have a second Cup of Coffee and work off NO Winners!
And then, headed down to the Coffee Shop for a little Chat with Lewis before heading to Larry's
Dean Jernigan came in about 9 a.m. and I left then for Riverside and Larry's Nursery

Walked in and Larry came over for a Welcome and a Handshake and then I went shopping
Picked up two New Zealand Impatiens and then two Four Packs of Orange Profusion Zinnias
Then a Four Pack of Slim Fingers Eggplant and a Big Boy Tomato Plant
I wanted a good sized Better Boy Tomato Plant but could only find small ones in Four Packs
Then I had all this to plant in Pots and Planters out in front on Monday

~ Eggplants and a Tomato for the Pots ~

And then out and around to the Side Rhubarb Bed to remove the Bloom from one Plant
If you let the Plant Bloom then it will use all it's energy to make Blooms and Seeds
And then the Stalks will not continue to develop, I lost one Plant by not removing it's Bloom
So that done, I planted the Impatiens and Zinnias in the Pots and Planters

~ Orange Profusion Zinnia ~ New Zealand Impatiens ~ Orange Profusion Zinnia

First the Flowers in the Pots and Planters, then the Vegetables in the Big Pots

~ Big Boy Tomato ~ Slim Fingers Eggplant ~

I still had three Eggplants left, I had only planned to plant two, one in the Pot and one in Back Bed
I decided to plant the extra three in back and only plant one Pepper Plant in that Bed
Well, one Jalapeno Pepper and one Green Pepper, then those three Eggplants, five Plants instead of the four

So back up the Hill to plant those and then get another Photo of the Radishes popping up

And I planted those, got my Radiah Photo and headed back down the Hill in a light Mist
Time to kick back with my afternoon Manhattan and catch up on the TV News
And then... What's for Dinner?

I Arrived at Bentley Guitar Studios about 6:20 p.m. or so, took my Gear in to set up
Foud an excellent spot to place my Panasonic AVCCAM, primed and ready to go
Then I wandered around and got some Video of the Audience arriving and chatting with Mike and Tenley
Didn't look like many were showing up until a little after 7 p.m. but more were coming in

A pretty fair Crowd was there by the time the Show was to start, not much Fanfare, they just started in
I set the Video Camera to Record and just let it run, then moved around getting various Audience shots
I would return to the Panasonic to zoom in and out and get various Scenes, was looking great
Looks like I need a bigger Card for my Camera though, I ran out of Storage just before the last Song
But I got the Canon DSLR going to get that one recorded, then got some final Crowd shots and that was it

~ Bently Guitar Studios ~ Concert Night ~

So then was heading home time, a Cocktail, some very late Supper then a Glass of Wine with the TV
And finally turned in way after my usual Beddy Bye time

So on to Sunday Morning, starting early... Set my Video to upload to my Computer and then off to make Coffee
Back then to upload my Video from the Canon DSLR, then get started on the Video Edit
I had the Title Pages all ready so I added my DSLR Video before the Music started, looked good
I got that trimmed down to a good sequence and then was ready for the Main part of the Show

And there was a lot of Video for that, over an Hour and a half to edit
So it loaded into the Editor and WHAT IS THIS? It didn't show any AUDIO! DISASTER!
Oh Woe! I was DEVASTATED! Looked like it was a Great Video and there was NO MUSIC!

So, I checked the Camera Microphone, On No! The Battery was DEAD! And I had just put a new one in it
And then... my Masterpiece of a music Video seemed to be doomed, but I did have some nice scenes
Also at least one complete Song, the Finale, so maybe I can rescue part of it
But it will not be the entire Concert like I do have on Video but soundless
There is one hope, there was another guy there with a nice Camera and he might have some good Songs
I'll call Mike for his Number and maybe I can get some of his Video to add

And then I gave up on the Video for now and headed to Walmart for a few things I needed
And I picked up a couple of what I thought were the same Camera Batterues I needed
But again.. Oh Woe is me, wrong size, they are a bit fatter than the CR2 I need

OK, got online to Walmart, they had it, free ship to store so that's on the way, I'll return the others
And then, another Gorgeous Day! Out front to plant Cucumber Seeds in a Trellised Pot
Then up the Hill to check the Radishes, more popping up today, be more tomorrow
Then next door to trim the Bushes a little, they aren't doing as good over there as at my place

And then, hadn't got around to slicing up all that Ham yet, busy with that Soup yesterday
So I got out my Slicer and sliced away, into the Baggies and into the Fridge and Freezer again

That was about it for for Sunday, A Cheezy Chili Burrito to chomp and on the the TV
Now for Monday? What? Thought I might head over to Larry's Nursery and find something to plant
Still maybe a bit early but the Weather looks pretty good for the next week and some

And a bit more chilly on Saturday Morning but the Sun was out and it warmed up fast
I headed to Kicks 66 for my Lottos and then to the Price Chopper for six Cans of Great Northern Beans
And some Carrots and a couple other Items, more storage Boxes for my Bean Soup to be
Then back to work off a $15 Scratcher Win, Lost $2 and then started on my Soup
I aready Crock Potted the Ham Bone overnight and so the Broth was ready for the Beans and stuff
I took out the Bone and other stuff that fell off the Bone, then dumped in six Cans of Beans
Then chopped up some Carrots and lots of Onions and some Celery and finally all the Diced Ham
And then set the Crock Pot on High for Six Hours and went on about the Day

Then I remembered that I had forgotten to get my Wine and headed back to the Price Chopper for that
So I cashed in the $15 Win for another try at the Pot of Gold and won only $3 this time, down then $14

I had posted a Photo of my Rhubarb on Facebook, said I was looking for a Pie
Diane McQueen in California commented that she could pass on that one...
I answered I kinda like the Tartness, like with Gooseberry Pie, she could pass on that one also
Then I said... I think I'll go get a Gooseberry Bush to plant and took off for the 'Grass Pad'

I asked if they had any and the Guy said they were sold out, but they had other kinds
I checked them out, thought I would try a Blueberry Bush, though I am not wild about Blueberries
But I bought one and headed back, first got a Photo, then planted it, now waiting for a Blueberry Pie

~ New Blueberry Bush to Plant ~ And Planted ~

After that I trotted up the Hill to check the Radishes and found one that had popped up, Photo up in the corner here
There should be more, maybe Sunday and the days after, nice Weather ahead except for some cold Saturday night

On into that gorgeous afternoon, not much to do except wait to go to Bentleys' at 6 p.m. for the Shortleaf Video
And then at 5 p.m. the green 'Cook' light on the Crock Pot turned to yellow and 'Warm'
So I turned it back on to 'Low' and 'Four Hours' so it would finish when I was out to do the Video

~ Another Gallon or So of Ham and Bean Soup ~

And the time drifted on toward 6 p.m. I loaded up my Tripod and Cameras
And then, off to Downtown to Bentley's Guitar Studio at 6:15 p.m. ...Early, but I wanted to get set up

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

A little Damp out there to start Friday and a Windows Installation failure first thing
I had tried to Install the Windows 10 Trial Release on my HP Desktop and it wouldn't install
I had thought if I upgraded it to Windows 8.1 then I could Install Windows 10 when it released
So I ordered a Copy of Windows 8.1 and tried to install it, said it could not update 'System Reserve Partition'
Then 'Could not Install Windows 8 on this Computer'... So I'll wait and try the Windows 10 Release
And if that doesn't work, just stick with Windows 7, it's working fine for my needs anyway

So after my Morning Runaround routine I headed for Walmart to see if I could return the Windows 8.1
So I trotted up there about 10 a.m. Headed for the Return Counter... Gave it to the nice Lady
She took a look at the Return Label then the Package. a small Envelope.. Whats this?
That dinky Envelope sure didn't look like a $100 item but the Receipt said it was
But she keyed in the Data, my Money back in my Account and away I went

Stopped in at the Fast Stop on the way back for Lottos, but to no avail
Back home to scratch off NOTHING at all... Drat!...

Since I hung the fallen Birdhouse back up in the tree I hadn't seen any Birds on it
But then Friday I saw one sitting out front that looked like one that was there before
Maybe it is the same Momma Bird back to claim her Home after the disaster is over

So then back to Kicks 66 for a Tank of Gas and a Propane refill for my empty Tank
One Tank ran dry Thursday when I had my Ham in the Smoker less than an Hour, hooked up my spare Tank
When I got back I trotted up the Hill in back to check my Radish planting, didn't see much
Then I got a Photo of my Rhubarb on the way back in, looking good, when do we get a Pie?

~ Rhubarb on the way to Pie Country ~

And on to the Kitchen to slice up that big Smoked Easter Ham....Yowsuh!
Carved off some big Hunks then got out my Electric Slicer and sliced them up
Then cut all the Meat off the Bone and cut up the smaller chunks to add to Ham and Beans later
By that time I was tired of 'Hamming' and headed to the TV with my glass of Wine
I had put the Rest of the Ham back in the Fridge to slice today, left out enough Ham for a Sammich

Later put the Ham Bone in my Crock Pot, set it to 'Crocking' had that Sandwich and off to Bed<
Now off to Saturday... and Sayureday Night.. maybe that Short Leaf Band Concert Video?

Thursday Morning, started off warm and Sunny, then Clouded up but the Sun was out again at 11 a.m.
I saw when I left that my Bird House got blown out of the Tree overnignt, another project for the Day
I set my Ham out of the Fridge to warm up, to get ready for the Smoker and then headed out
I needed Apple Juice and Lottos from the Price Chopper, back to scratch off only a $11 Win
And... on the way back in I noticed the Room smelled kind of nice, like those new Scented Candles

I had a second cup of coffee then started on rehanging the Bird House... Saw the wire I used was too small
So I used an old Metal Clothes Hanger for the Stronger Wire and then hung it back in the Tree

~ Tiny Wire Broke ~ A Nest inside the Bird House ~ This One should Hold Up ~

So I clipped off the small Wire, formed a new one from the Hanger and hooked it on
While it was Down I checked inside, Mama Bird had been busy in there but I didn't see any Eggs
I checked the bottom Room, saw only a few strands of Straw in that one<

~ Back up in the Tree with the Pear Blossoms ~

And then hung the House back up the the Tree above the pretty Pear Blooms

So on to the next Project... What's that?... Oh... get that Ham into the Smoker
And out to the Kitchen to trim up the Ham, then out to fire up the Smoker
No BBQ Dry Rub this time, just gonna Hickory Smoke that Ham up real nice, Sauce or whatever after
So, the Ham into the Smoker at 12:30 p.m. I figured to start timing about 1 p.m.
Maybe give it like four Hours or so should be about right... now what's Next?

What was next was the Big Brown Truck showed up a with a big Cooler full of Goodies from Omaha Steaks Company
And what a friendly Guy this latest one is, he remembers my other Orders, hides my Packages for me
Anyway I opened up that Big White Box, look at all the Goodies in there!

~ Latest Lotto Loser Ticket Prize ~

Eight Pork Chops ~ Eight Boneless Chicken Breasts ~ Eight Big Beefburgers
And the great part is that I found enough room in the Freezer for all that Stuff
But can I get that ten Pounds of Ham I am Smoking in there too?

On to the rest of the Day, mixed my Manhattan and went out to sip it on the Veranda
Beautiful Weather under the Pear Blossoms and I watched the Birdies fly in an out to the Feeder
Gave that up and headed back inside for the TV Catchup and get some Dinner prepped
Then at 6 p.m. os so I took the Ham out of the Smoker looking really good
Wrapped that up in Foil to cool down and later into the Fridge to be carved up today (Friday)

~ One More Ten Pound Ham Smoked for the Easter Weekend ~

That was the next to last Event of the Day, the Mailman showed up (after 6 p.m.) to deliver my new Windows 8.1
I see that is the OEM Version, have to see if I can figure how to install that on my HP Desktop
Then after Dinner and that really Busy, Busy Day... off to Dreamland to rest up for another Busy Day!

And... I headed down to the Coffee Shop again to see what the latest Gossip was
Lewis was there, we had a few words and then Director Bob Fluchel popped in for his Coffee
He got his Cup, said he had to meet some People at the Nature Sanctuary in ten minutes
They were going to discuss plans to connect an Electrical Service to the Work Shed
So then Lewis and I said we would join him there and we all headed for the Sanctuary

There we met up with Parkville Parks Director, Alysen Abel and Street Department Director of Operations, Alan Schank
And a Representative from Kansas City Power and Light Company to discuss the Specifications
They discussed the possibilities and Costs and then we all departed for the Unknown

~ Planning an Electrical Hookup for the Work Shed ~

And then I headed to the Price Chopper for my Lottos and a few Grocery Items
By the time I got there I remembered Easter was imminent and Ham would be on Sale
After last years oversupply of Ham I thought I would not do that again this year... but you know me
This year I found a nice ten Pound Shank Half Ham on sale for $5 off and settled for that

~ All this Loot from the Price Chopper for $30 ~

And then what? I got a call from Bruce, the Laptop guy, still having troubles
He was heading for the Library so I said I would go take a look at it again
I met him there, checked it out, went through the Wi-Fi Connection process, it said Connected
But it would not access the Internet and why? No Idea, Connects auto to my own Wi-Fi and the Coffee House
So I told him it must be something about the Library System, see if he could find some help there and left

So then on into a beautiful afternoon, the UPS man showed up with my latest Lottos loser ticket Prize
So I unpacked it, found I needed 9 little Batteries, headed back to the Price Chopper for those
Plugged them in, turned them on, set them on my Book Shelf for atmosphere, kinda useless but pretty
They feel like they are made with and filled with Wax, are Scented and can flicker when you turn them on wth a remote

~ 18 Feet of Beet Seed Tape Planted ~

And then to wind up that gorgeous day, I headed back up the Hill to plant 16 feet of Beet Seed Tape
I had planted that 12 feet of Radish Seed Tape on Monday in one Bed, planted two 8 foot rows of Spinach in a second
Now my first plantings of Seeds are all in the Ground, next when the ground warms more, then the Cucumbers
I plsn to plant a 6 foot Row in the Bed wth the Trellis, and an 8 foot row to climb the back Gate in the Pepper Bed
Next the Tomatoes and Peppers toward the end of April and all those Flowers and Plants in the Front Yard
The Garden Season full sway then...

Now, Thursday, some Rain overnight, partly cloudy and may get to 71 today, nice enough I suppose
Let's see what we can find to do Today....

~ Dentist Postponed ~
~ New Video Planned ~ Sorry to Disturb You ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Dentist scheduled for Tuesday Morning But I woke up early not feeling well and went back to Bed
Got up two or three more times but again back to the Sack, finally called the Dentist at 8 a.m. and cancelled
Tried again at 9 a.m. still not feeling good, back to bed until 10 a.m. to try again
Poured my Apple Juice and started on this Diatribe... see what happens

At 10 a.m bright and Sunny outside and 58 Degrees, another good day ahead weatherwise
Going to hit near 80 this afternnon they say, nice Gardening weather again if I get to feeling better

I think what may have happened was that I had my Manhattan and was sipping Wine until Dinner
Watching the latest Episode of 'Bates Motel' and Bruce called about his Laptop, said he would be over to pick it up
But he said at 8:30 p.m. which was a bit late for me, but I put off my Dinner and kept on with the Wine
He showed up around 8 p.m. started playing with his Computer and of course it worked here
Finally he left around 9 p.m. and I plated my Dinner, way late... Then before I started on it... he came back

He had gone to the Library and again could not connect, wanted me to check the Laptop again
I told him that it connected automatically to my Home Wi-Fi, it also did at the Coffee House
So there was nothing wrong with his Computer, it was the Library System or his way of connecting there
So he was a little upset but I told him that, sometime... I would go there with him and check it out
I sure could not fix something on his box at my place when there was nothing obviously wrong with it

Some people are just not ready for a Computer and it looks like he may qualify
By then I had stayed up way too late and had too much Wine during that episode
And ate too late and I think is what caused my unwellness... so there!

Anyway finally Tuesday afternoon, I was back lying dowm, thinking of the Email I got From Bob Fluchel that Morning
He enclosed a Flyer of the Shortleaf Band in Concert in Parkville this coming Saturday night
They have played for us at out Parkville Nature Sanctuary 'Ghost Story Night' Event
So I thought it would be a good idea to try to get a Video of that performance for them
So I rolled out of Bed, feeling quite better, called Mike Fraser, band Leader to ask what he thought of the Idea
He was all for it so I headed downtown to Bentley Guitar Studios with my Canon DSLR

Walked in, asked the Clerk if the Head Man was there, he said busy teaching a Guitar Student
He asked if he could help and I told him about my olanned Video project, he said it would be OK
Then he showed me the Stage and seating area wher ie wold be performed, I checked out the Layout and thanked him
Then I went outside and got a few Photos to use in my opening Scenes of the Concert
So back home to start on the Video opening and finished that for now, looking good so far

~ Shortleaf Concert Video Title Scene for Saturday ~

So now this Morning, feeling some better, thought I would stop by the Coffee Shop and talk about it
And then Sunday, if everything works out I can edit my new Video Masterpiece to bore everyone with
And unless you like their type of Music this will be a very long and boring Video, but some might like it

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Another Gorgeous Day starting on Monday Morning, going to 70 plus they said, and warmer Tuesday and Wednesday
Headed out to the Price Chopper for Lottos, no winners at all again! Oh Woe!
So what to do on a beautiful warm Day? Well first feed the Birdies, then a Photo of my Tree
Then installed the new Valve on my Gas Grill, hooked up the Hose to the Tank
All ready for Grilling that new Shipment of Chops and Burgers from Omaha Steaks
And then... Put the inside Plant's Pots outside for the Day... and...

And then, that beautiful Weather Day! Let's plant! Grabbed my Radish Seed Tapes and headed up the Hill
Couldn't be easier, layed out the Tapes, scooped a little Furrow and placed the Tapes in and covered them up
And what about the Spinach? Went over to the next Bed, broadcast the Seeds around
And then carefuly raked on some Soil to cover them up... Now hope for the Best

~ Planted my Radish Seed Tapes ~

And then I hooked up my Hose in back, wanted to fill my Sprinkler Can without carrying a full one up the Stairs
Didn't want to use the Hose yet, too much pressure to disturb the Seeds until they pop up
So then I turned on the Water and headed back up the Hill, filled up my Watering Can
And then Boss Bob, Complex Owner and Manager came around the corner of the next Building
So as I watered my Radishes and Spinach, we talked about Tom, our Maintenance Man, maybe spraying the Brush out back
He already pretty much had the Brush under control earlier, told Bob I might plant some stuff on the Hill
Bob complimented my efforts, then left, I finished watering the new Seeds and headed back inside

And then? Well... Put a couple smoked Chicken Legs out to thaw, made some fresh Cole Slaw
Put some BBQ Beans on the back Burner to warm up for Dinner later and then... mixed my Manhattan
And... Mixed some Flour Paste, measured out some TP, opened a pack of Beet Seeds
And then made 16 Feet of Beet Seed Tape... Ready to plant in the Pepper Bed on Tuesday

That was the extent of the Gardening, on to a Glass of Vino Tinto and TV and Dinner and later off to Beddy Bye
And what a nice Productive and nice Weather Day we did have on Monday... Oh Oh... Dentist Tuesday morning
Well I just hope it just sprinkles a little Rain at the Dentist and then off we go!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Some better weather promised for the next few Days, was supposed to get to 61 on Sunday
Was up to 54 by Noon... Headed off to Kicks 66 first for my Lottos, lost on all
But then I had to go back to Walgreens so I stopped by the Price Chopper, bought more, lost all
Got my stuff at Walgreens then headed to KMart for a couple Items, they didn't have what I was looking for
But I did pick up a couple packets of Seeds there to start my Garden, thinking April 15th
Then I will plant my Radish Seed Tapes and the Spinach, maybe the Swiss Chard in the Pepper Bed
About May First or so, I'll plant the Cucumbers and Tomatoes, Peppers and Eggplants

And back from my running around I took a walk out back and up the Hill
The Weather was just GREAT! and those Beds are just waiting to be planted, they are READY (as I am)
The Rhubarb in the Side Bed is looking good too, really getting with it, Pie Day coming right along

~ Rhubarb Looking Good! ~ How long before a Pie? ~

And so, back out front to clean up my Bird Fountain a little, some fungus looking stuff on it
I sprayed it with All Purpose Cleaner, then a Brush and then some Steel Wool
And it looks some better, need to spray it with some Bleach and then rinse it good

Then my Gas Grill amd Smoker Burner out front, the Gas Valve for the Smoker Burner went bad
So I looked up online for a replacement Valve, found one that was around $23 plus Shipping
That seemed kind of high so I checked for a Gas Grill, found one like the one I already have at Walmart
And the entire price was less than $27 so I ordered it, I get the new Valve and also a complete Grill
So I will now have the new Valve for my Smoker and also a replacement Burner for my Grill or Smoker if I would need that
The Burner would work in my little Grill or my Smoker so that is a far better deal than the Valve alone
So they had in Store Pickup, so no shipping charge and I headed over there to pick it up Sunday afternoon

~ All I needed was the Valve ~ Got that and all these Spare Parts ~

So I headed over the about 2:30 p.m. Picked up my Package and headed back, home at 3:30 or so
Then on to the Afternoon, mixed my Manhattan, finished this BLOG... Now find something for Dinner
And it was... another really nice productive Day on Sunday... Oh yeah! See ya Tomorrow

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Out on a partly cloudy 40 Degree Saturday Morning to Kicks 66 for Lottos
Traded in a $15 Win and $1 Cash for $15 worth of new Lottos
Back home to scratch off two $5 Wins, down $6 for a so-so start... off again
This time Back to the Price Chopper to trade in that $10 of Wins for $16 more losers
And this time back to find a lonely $5 Win... That ain't gonna pay the rent
But I entered the loser tickets at the Missouri Lottery 'Points for Prizes' and had over 10,700 Points
So then, time to order some more 'Omaha Steaks' goodies with 10,400 of those Poimts
I again ordered the Burgers, Pork Cops and Chicken Breasts assortment, lots of Grilling there

Not much else going on Saturday, checked to see if I could Install Windows 10 Trial on the HP
It tried but stopped and said it could not install it, some file missing or whatever
So I decided to Install Windows 8.1 and then later upgrade to Windows 10 when released
So I got online and ordered a copy of Windows 8.1 to make sure I could install Windows 10 later

On into the afternoon, decided to bake another loaf of Bread, been awhile since the last one
But I had to run back to the Price Chopper for Yeast and Bread Flour
Then all into the Bread machine and three hours later, a new loaf of home baked Bread

~ Latest Loaf of Home Baked Bread ~

After that, I sliced the Bread for storage, I freeze it so it won't get moldy
And for dinner I made a nice juicy Hamburger and used the 'Bread Heels' for the Bun
That pretty well wrapped up a 'not much going on' Saturday

So, Thursday Morning I headed down to the Coffee House again, this time to check Bruce's Laptop
I connected to my Home Wi-Fi just fine, I wanted to see if I could connect to the Coffee House Wi-Fi
But Lewis Car was not out front, so I tried to connect from my Blazer, I got a weak signal but did not connect
So I thought I might run down again Friday Morning and try again

Anyway, on to the Treasure Hunt for Thursday, running all around all over again but this time only Six Wins
I got a $20 and $10 Win to start, real nice, then a $3, a $6, a $5, a $10 and finally a nice $50 one!
Won a total of $104 I think but that was only about a $20 Profit, but far better than a loss
Profit the last two Days was over $50 and that's enough to buy my Lottos for three Days

Just writing my Daily Drivel on this HP Desktop Friday Morning and enjoying the zip of the Solid State Drive in it
Working with Bruce's Laptop was so tediously SLOW... I am used to the SSDs in my three Computers now
And I love the way they zip from Program to Program and now to the Internet so fast
Such a drag when working with a slower Computer with less RAM, slower Processor and Hard Drive

So then, headed on downtown for the Coffee House to see if Bruce's Laptop would connect
I walked in to see Don Kixmiller and Lewis at their regular Table, I sat down
Then remembered I had a Blu-ray DVD of the Prairie Burn for Don and went back out to get it
Back then I sat down and got caught up on the Conversation, finally fired up Bruce's Laptop
Apparently I had made connection outside the previous Day as it connected automatically to the Internet
So Bruce, it doesn't look like anything is wrong with it, I'll ask him how he tried to connect when he comes back

And then... in walked Jim and Diane Reed and Pat Harris, more Sanctuary People
Everyone got their Coffee, sat down and joined in the Chit and chat about this and that
Then later Dianne Kixmiller joined us to round out the Party, the more the merrier
Finally we all ran down and adjourned the Meeting about 10:30 a.m.

Then I started on an all day Lotto runaround again with some luck, not as much as Wednesday and Thursday
I won a $15, $15, $3, $20, and finished with a $15 Win, I think I spent $85 and only won $68 back
But that isn't a lot to lose for an all day fun trip, maybe try again on Saturday

Then finished out a typical Afternoon and pleasant Evening, now on to the Weekend

~ Windows 10 ~ Latest Update Installed ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Sitting here at the HP Desktop Wednesday Morning when the Dell popped up with a Message
"Ready to Install Windows 19 Technical Preview" ... And away it went and for quite a time
Finally installed and working and so far haven't noticed much difference but haven't investigated
I've been using Windows 10 to do a lot on that Computer and so far no Glitches and some neat stuff

And then what? A little on the Cool side but no Rain when I headed to the Price Chopper
Hit the ATM for a few Bucks and then picked up my items and then some Lottos
Back home to unload and then work off $13 in Wins, lost $3... Oh well
So back to Kicks 66 to trade and then back home to scratch off only a $10 Win... Oh well
So give up then... HAH! Back to the Fast Stop to trade again and Hope Hope Hope
And this time I got a bit luckier and won $30... Now ahead for the Day... But stop then?
Back to the Price Chopper to trade for more and won $36... And that made a $25 Profit for the Day!

Decided that earned an earlier Cocktail so I mixed one at 1 p.m. and what's for Dinner?
And Lookeee there.. the Sun came out to brighten up the afternoon!
But, before I got into my afternoon TV I had a look at a Laptop a friend brought ever
I cleaned it out before and added some Programs for him. now he says it won't connect to Wi-Fi
And so... I had it working on my Wi-Fi when he left here and I had set it to auto-commect here
I fired it up and Wah Lah!.. I was on the Internet with my Wi-Fi, it connected automatically
The other of his complaints was that his AVG Anti-Virus Trial had expired
Well I accidently downloaded the Trial Version of the Plus which has a Charge
So I just went to uninstall the Paid Version to Install the Free Version
And it said... WHOA! We can give you the Free one, so I clicked on that and away it went
So there Bruce, no problems, just try to connect to the Library Wi-Fi the right way next time

And then what? Oh well, that $36 worth of Winners sitting idly there, let's try again
So back to Kicks 66, bought $16 more, put that $20 Bill in my Pocket
And then back home... Scratched off another $25 in Wins! That made $34 Profit for the Day
Not a lot of money but a lot of anticipatory Fun trying for more and that's what it's all about

On to the TV... My Manhattan Cocktail and News Catch-up... I watch a lot of 'News'
Then I started thinking of Cooking... I still had a HUGE Turkey Breast from Thanksgiving in the Freezer
What to do with that? I used the last one to make a kind of Turkey and Stuffing concoction that was good
And I still have some of that... Maybe try to make Chili out of this one? Maybe that would work
So, on to the Kitchen, thawed out that Breast, then Chopped Onions, Jalapenos and Green Peppers
Into the Pot with some Oilve oil to saute some...Then in with the Turkey Meat
Then some Tomato Ketchup, Beef Broth and all the Spices, Chili Powder, Basil, Oregano, Cumin
Let that simmer slowly for a long time, gave it s good Stir and a Taste Test
Hey Hey! That's some pretty good stuff, I think will make great filling for Burritos... Yeah!

And then back to the TV and then some Nuked up Dinner later, How Sweet it Is!

All wet and cold and dark out there Tuesday Morning, not real cold but cold enough
And off to the Price Chopper for my Lottos. had a $3 win to trade in
So Ryan sold me some Lottos and back home to scratch off only a $10 Win, but nicer than nothing
So I headed back to trade for more and this time he gave me a nicer $20 Win
And as usual, I took that one back to trade, this time back home to scratch another $10 Win
Still not making any profit though, but fun trying for that eternally elusive Big One
This time I took that Win back to the Fast Stop to trade and won one more $10
And a slight loss for the Day even after winning that $50... Oh well

On to the afternoon, still wet and dreary outside, a nice Day for TV inside
And the latest episodes of 'Better Call Saul' and 'Bates Motel' waiting on my DVR to watch
So I put a couple of Smoked Chicken Legs out to thaw, made some fresh Cole Slaw
Then I mixed a Manhattan and retrieved 'Better Call Saul' from my DVR

So I watched 'Saul' and then the latest Episode of 'Bates Motel' and it was time for Dinner
A couple Chicken Legs and Cole Slaw and more Movies until Bedtime...
Ho-hum... a long and not very productive Day, well it can't be fun all the time.. or can it?

The Monthly Nature Sanctuary Meeting was on Tuesday night at City Hall
But I just wasn't feeling like leaving my TV and Movies
I get a lot of the Sanctuary Happenings and Info at the Coffee House Meetings

And another busy Day on Monday, first back to the Coffee House to catch up on Chat
No one was there when I arrived, that's rare for Lewis not to be there before 8 a.m.
So I gave him a call to see if he was coming, he said he was on the way
So then I got a Mug of Coffee and had a Seat to wait... But not long
He came in before I got the Sugar stirred into my Coffee

We had a little Chit and Chat and then Dean Jernigan came in
He got his Coffee and Roll and sat down to join the Party
A bit more and then Bob Fluchel popped in for a minute, said he had a Doctor Appointment and left
So then we kept on until about 9 a.m. and I headed out for my Lottos

I hadn't been to Kicks 66 for a couple Days so I headed there, traded in a $5 Win for $16 more
Back home to scratch off $18 in Wins... Hooray look at all that Profit!

And... I noticed a couple Birds had been at the big white Bird House next door
I gave a jump start for the Mexican guy's Truck at the next Building last year
And he made me a Gift of the big Bird House that he had made, I hung it in the Tree next door to me
And the birds didn't pay much attention to it until this year when I saw a couple there
They were sitting on the Perches and then darting inside, I decided to catch some Video

So I set up my Video Camera in my Doorway and let it run, got some footage
Looks like a Chickadee in the top Room and a Sparrow in the lower one

And so then I let the Camera run awhile then loaded the result in to my Video Editor
And a lot more inaction than something going on but I did get some Video of the new Bird Neighbors
And then I uploaded the Edit, posted it on Facebook for Diane (in California) to see
And she made a nice Comment, now waiting to hear how much it bored 'mein guter freund' Sigi

And so that was about it for Monday, finished out the usual Afternoon and Evening
Now I see we got some Rain as the Man said we would... all wet out there this Morning
So, no plans for today but a Nature Sanctuary Meeting I may make this Evening

Off to a new Day!

~ Monday ~ March 23, 2015 ~
~ An Even Nicer Day on Sunday ~
~ More Mulchinh and Pot Filling ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ Pots Ready for Cucumbers, Tomatoes and Eggplant ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

And the Weatherman lived up to his word... Sunny and Warmer starting out Sunday Morning
And I headed to the Fast Stop to cash in my last $20 Win from Sunday
Bought $16 worth, pocketed my $4 Profit and back home to scratch off NOTHING
And that was no way to start the Day so I headed back to buy $16 more
But this time I got a nice $20 win so that eased the Pain a little

A a good Day for working outside so I headed to Lowes for another Bag of Mulch and two Bags of Soil
Last time I hefted a Bag of that Mulch in my Blazer I about killed my Back
But this time I had a friendly Employee volunteer to help me load and that I was willing to accept
So he popped them in the back and then back home I just rolled them into into my AeroCart
That thing was a little high priced but sure has come in handy several times already

And back at the Ranchito, unloaded a couple Bags of soil on the Veranda
Then I wheeled the Mulch up the Drive next door and over to my Side Beds
Next dumped the Mulch in the Rose Beds there and spread it around, looks better now

~ More Mulch in the Side Beds ~

Then back to the Veranda in the Shade and rising Temperature to fill more Pots
And then I finished filling the two Planters from Upstairs and three Pots from there
Now I have 27 Pots and Planters all prepped and ready to plant in a couple Weeks

~ Pots and Planters from Upstairs ~

So, the Weatherman says a Freeze possible Thursday and Friday nights and then warmer again
The latest Freeze is usually April 30 but I usually plant before then
I'll watch the Night Temps close and maybe plant the Radishes and Spinach early in April,
Then in May, if I can wait that long, The Tomatoes, Cucumbers, Peppers and Eggplant
Some plants want the nights Temps into the 50s before they can get going good

Anyway, the Garden is on the way... Off we go!

~ And a Nicer Day on Saturday ~
~ Back to the Pot Filling ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ Mulched the Rhubarb Bed ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

And one more nice Day Saturday, and promising an even better Day for Sunday
Headed off to Kicks 66 for my Lottos, only scratched off a $3 Win... Phoooey!
So then what to do on a warmer Sunny Day? Some Gardening of course

First I put all the Soil the Neighbor gave me into the Two Planters he donated
But it wasn't enough to fill them, have to run back to Lowes for more
Next I moved three of my biggest Pots out to the front of the yard to catch some Sun later
Planning to plant Eggplant, a Tomato Plant and Cucumbers in those
And then I moved the Sweet Basil, the Orange Trees and that little Elm Tree Plant out front
Let them get some Sun out there, I did lose one tiny Basil Plant after leaving it out one night
I planted a few more Seeds in that Pot, maybe get a couple more Plants started

~ More Pots to Fill ~ Do I really Need more Pots? ~

That was about it for Gardening on Saturday, things out front looking pretty good
Now just need some consistent warm weather and some Plants to Pot

Then to waste another hour or more I decided to make a cover for my small Gas Grill
I had made a cover out of part of a large one that came from my large Smoker
But that one didn't quite fill my expectations so I tried another one
I had a large Foam Cooler from a shipment of Omaha Steaks sitting idle
Looked like it would fit over the Grill, so I cut out the ends so it woud fit over the handles
Then I fit the material from the old Grill over the Foam and stapled it all over
And now it fits better and looks better, now what else needs doing?

Well, just mix a Manhattan and catch up with the TV and wait for Sunday... Away we go

~ And a Real Nice Day on Friday ~
~ Back to the Gardening ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

And then Friday turned out to be a really nice Day, warm Weather back again
And I took a walk around the Side of the Building and saw the Rhubarb and Rose Beds looked kind of shabby
Boss Bob had black Mulch spread all over the Complex Plant Beds, I thought that would look good here
So I took off for Lowes to get a nice big Bag of Black Mulch, almost more than I could lift into the Blazer
Back at el Ranchito I backed up next Door to unload it into my Aerocart
Then spread it in the Rhubarb and Rose Beds, looks a lot better now

~ Popcorn Roses Greening up a Little ~

Boss Bob stopped by earlier, talked to the guy upstairs, he had some dead Plants on his Deck
Looked kind of trashy, Bob asked him to dump them, said he could give the Pots to me
The guy was all for that, someone gave him the Plants anyway and he let them die out
So after I mulched my Beds, I went up and emptied those pots, tossed the dead stuff in the Dumpster

Then the other Guy that lives upstairs asked me if I wanted the Pots he had and wasn't using
I said OK and then he brought them down and also gave me some leftover Potting Soil
And now I have more Pots than ever, and a chore today to fill some of them

Another nice Day ahead for Saturday... back to the Potting again

~ And Just another Rainy Day ~
~ Friday ~ March 20, 2015 ~
~ And the Sun Returns ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Out into that Dark, Cold, Rainy Morning Thursday to head to the Price Chopper
Needed Laundry Soap and a .750 Liter of Sweet Vermouth for my Manhattans
Chatted with two of my Mexican Amigos in the Produce Department and then got my Vermouth
Then picked up a huge Bottle of Laundry Detergent and then $16 worth of Lottos
Back home to scratch off a nice $5 and $10 Win but still lost a Dollar on that deal

And that was about the extent of the action on Thursday, gloomy and rainy outside all day
Just sort of idling away the Day with this, that and what other?
Some warmed up Enchladas for Dinner and then another Session on Netflix to close the Day

And so Friday Morning, warmer, Dry and Sunny and Bright, thought I would drop by the Coffee House
And Lewis was not there! But a 'Directors' Meeting in Progress when I walked in
Nature Sanctuary, Bob Fluchel, Parkville Public Works Director, Alysen Abel and City Alderman Jim Werner
Then Jim Werner left and former Sanctuary Director, Jim Reed came in to join us

~ Bob Fuchel ~ Alysen Abel ~ Jim Reed ~

Bob Fluchel was discussing the History of the Nature Sanctuary with Alysen
And future plans for improving the Parkville and Sullivan Nature Sanctuaries
I just added a comment now and then about the Videos where I had recorded some Sanctuary History

Their Meeting went on until 10 a.m. then they left for a walk in the Nature Sanctuary
I was invited to go along but that was a bit more effort than I wanted to attempt
Their Meeting was then moved to the Sanctuary and I headed out for my Lottos..

And that's enough recap for Friday Morning.. I'll catch up more on Saturday

~ Another Pot of Chili on a Rainy Day ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Off to KC Skin and Cancer Center at 8:25 Wednesday Morning, here we go again
Been freezing off those 'Sun Bumps' now for how long? More than 20 years for sure
I just had to go next door to the IBM Office when I was working in Saint Joseph
Now it is about six Miles up the road from Parkville to the Office

So I arrived there at 9 a.m. and waited 45 minutes to be called in
Then the Question and Answer session and the short wait for the Doctor and Nurse
They came in and the poking around began, looking here and there for 'Sun Bumps
Then the Doctor decided to shoot my Face 10 times or so with her Liquid Nitrogen Gun
Then a Biopsy on my Forehead and my Arm, a couple Bandages and off to the races

They said they would call me with the results and schedule Surgery then if Positive
And it usually is, I can only remember one time when the Biopsy was negative
And then back by the Price Chopper at 10:45 for Coffee Filters, Some Apple Juice and my Lottos
Back home to scratch off NO WINNERS! And then have a couple Oatmeal Cookies for a late Breakfast
Then on to try to use up a dreary looking rainy Day

And it turned out that the only big event of the Day wes making more Chili
My Freezer is stuffed as usual, I cook and store way more than I eat
I was checking through the stacks of stuff and found some Smoked Beef Brisket
And some Beef Rump Roast I had done in the Crock Pot just after I bought the new one
That stuff was going nowhere fast so let's just make some Beef Chili to use it up

So this was a real non-scripted Recipe, try to use up some leftovers and I did that
I found some frozen chopped Green Peppers, some frozen Tomato Puree from last season's Tomatoes
And some pickled Jalapeno Peppers from last years ample Crop

So, into the Pot wuth the frozen Tomato Puree, then ground up the Beef in my Food Processor
Next some Chopped Onions and Garlic, Green Peppers, Jalapenos into the Food Processor
Stirred all of that into the Pot, then a little Beef Stock and Tomato Ketchup
Finally the Spices, Chili Powder, Basil, Cumin, Oregano... did I forget anything?

That in the pot to simmer a couple hours, a taste test... Excelent! and then what?
Back into a couple of plastic Boxes and back in the Freezer again for the next Rainy Day!

~ Saint Patrick's Day ~
~ Corned Beef and Cabbage Monday and Tuesday ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ The Orange Trees back Inside to get Warm ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

And colder on Tuesday and I don't like it, looked like one of my Sweet Basil plants didn't either
I decided to bring in all the Plants I took outside, they said it would be in the 30s Tuesday Nnight
And now with all that Seed Tape waiting I am ready for some more warm weather
But it will take a couple more weeks to safely plant anything outsided, maybe Radishes first

And I thought I would run down and check in with the Sanctuary Crew again
Lewis and Dean and Mark were there, I sat down and waited for my turn to speak
And with Dean and Mark yapping away that took awhile, they aren't too interestd in what I have to say
And then after 9 a.m. we were joined by Director Bob Fluchel and he took over the Podium
And we did have a lengthy talk fest, finally finishing around 11 a.m.

So then I headed to the Price Chopper for a couple items and then forgot to get one of them
I got my daily supply of Lottos and won NOTHING again, I don't like that at all

On the way back in my place I saw that my Sweet Basil didn't seem to like the colder night
And hearing that the next few nights would be colder I brought in the Basil, Orange Trese and Pineapple
I'll still have to wait a couple weeks to get to some serious Gardening

Not much more going on the Rest of Tuesday, same ols Afternoon and evening
I did watch the latest installments of 'Better Call Saul' and the new 'Bates Motel' Season
And then finished the day wioth another sampling of Corned Beef and Cabbage to close out Saint Patrick's Day

And so what for Wednesday? Oh well, another Appointment at KC Skin and Cancer
Not a lot to complain abou tthis time, should the there too long I hope...
On to the New Day!

~ Corned Beef and Cabbage on the Way ~

~ The Latest try at Corned Beef and Cabbage ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Well now, I forgot all about Saint Patrick's Day until I glanced at my Calendar
Should I or should I not, my Freezer is stuffed already... but... Off to the Price Chopper
And I got a nice big head of Cabbage and then on back to the Meat Counter
Kansas City's 'Boyle's Famous Corned Beef' was on sale but mot by much, but it's the best around here
So I selected a nice 'Flat' and then back home to plop it into the Crock Pot
And I happened to check online about the Boyle's Company and found they started out in 1932
So they have been making Corned Beef for the same 83 Years that I have been here to enjoy it

And then to stretch out another loverly Day, decided to make some 'Seed Tapes'
Got out a Roll of Toilet Paper, Seeds, Flour Paste, Cotton Swab and Tweezers
A row of Flour Paste dots with the Swab then drop a Seed with the Tweezers on each drop then fold
And I ended up with 12 Feet of Radish Seed Tape with Pat's gift Seeds
Then 14 Feet of Cucumber Seed Tape with seeds I had on hand... All done for now

~ My Seed Tape Laboratory ~

Now to resist the temptation of planting those Seed Tapes too early as I usually do
I need to wait and watch for the Nights to stay around 50 Degrees and then Plant away

~ Radish and Cucumber Seed Tapes ready for the Garden ~

And then on to the rest of the afternoon and a Cocktail and TV, waiting for the Corned Beef
About three hurs into the Pot Crocking I added Carrots, Cabbage and Potatoes
I should have waited a bit longer as the Potatoes were a little mushy and the Cabbage overcooked
But most all the Crock Pot recipeies I chescked said to add all of the at the start
And then Cook all together for about 8 Hours... Oh no...

~ Corned Beef and Cabbage ~ ala El Pato Donaldo ~

Anyway I dished up a plateful around 6 p.m. with a slice of Rye Bread
And what a tasty treat that was... The best tasting Corned Beef the last few tries, just right

I had that Saint Patick's Eve Dinner, maybe now a re-run on Saint Patrick's Day Evening?

Hey Hey... It's Tuesday ~ Ever Onward and Upward ~

~ Repotted the Sweet Basil ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

A little chilly early Saturday Morning but it started warming up fast
I decided to do some repotting and topping some more Pots with new Soil
But I needed another Bag of Soil and three new Pots for my Orange Trees, so off to Lowes
And then back home to do some more Garden Preparation, this good weather sure makes my Green Thumb itch!

I got a Photo of my Rhubarb popping up on Friday but I didn't post it, looking good so far
Maybe these plants are telling me to go ahead and plant something now
I hope they are not just fooled by this unseasonally fine Weather the last few Days

~ Rhubarb Popping up on Wednesday ~

I bought three new Pots to repot my Orange Trees, and then put them out to get some Sun
Planting those Orange Seeds was just a Winter experiment, now I just want to see where they go from here

~ Orange Trees Repotted ~

Then I repotted my Sweet Basil plant to a larger Pot, may get some more Cuttings from that later
You can usually keep snipping Leaves off all Summer, these already had a start so worth trying to save

~ More Pots Prepped ~ How Many do we Need Anyway? ~

And then I started turning up the Soil in the rest of the Pots and adding more where needed
It looks like now I have more Pots than ever and now it's 'What to Plant in Them?'

I repotted one of my 'Pinapple Tops' too, it didn't have many roots on it though
And when I emptied the Pot it was growing in I found three large healthy looking Earthworms
So I dumped them into the large Pot where I am going to plant some Cucumbers this Year
And they burrowed right in to the new moist Soil, that should give the Cucumbers a boost

So I wrapped up that project about 1 p.m. Mixed a Margarita and off to the rest of the Afternoon
I found some Dinner in the Freezer, smoked Pork Shoulder, Cornbread and Sauteed Kale with Bacon and Onions
A glass of Vino Tinto, a TV Movie and that was the end of my GLORIOUS Weekend!

Hey Hey... Monday again... Let's GO!

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Well it sure has been a busy week, time to rest a bit this Weekend?
Two new Vidoe Projects, three Coffee House Visits, some HTML Tutoring...
Well you can't just sit around idle just because you retired can you?

And so, Friday a Visit first with the Sanctuary Gang at the Coffee House
Then a side trip next door to English Landing Park where the Park Department has an Office
I saw two of the guys that were at the Burn at Platte Landing Park on Thursday
I told them then that I should burn a Blu-ray DVD of my Video for them
I gave the DVD to Terry, one of the guys setting fire to the Weeds and Grass Thursday
And they were very happy to receive it and surprised I had it ready so soon

~ A Blu-Ray DVD for the Guys at Parkville Street Department ~

On home then to wait for Director Bob to arrive for the Web Page Session

When he left I backed up in the Parking lot next door to unload three bags of Soil still in my Blazer
Then I headed out for my Lottos for the Day, drove home to see the Bags of Soil were GONE!
But... then I saw them up on the Hill in back in front of my Garden Beds
See what kind of service I get at Windscape Apartments! But then... I ~AM~ Special!

Then Friday afternoon I went up the Hill to spread the Soil in the last Bed
Now all ready to plant when I think it is safe enough to start the Garden Season

And then Saturday Morming, after catching up my BLOG... Off to the Price Chopper
Was thinking of all this nice BBQ Weather going to waste, let's see what's on sale
Picked up some Apples... on sale, Sweet Onions, Toothpaste, Milk, Ice Cream, Candy...
Then back to the Meat Counter, nice Chicken Legs, Family Pack... On Sale... Got a Pack of Ten Legs

Then down the Hill to the Fast Stop to get my Lottos, none to trade in
Back home to scratch off only a dinky $5... On to the BBQ Prep then
Opened up the Chicken Pack, rinsed and dried the Chicken Legs, then on with the BBQ Dry Rub
I left that to marinate some at Room Temp and then Outside to unload the rest of my Garden Stuff

Then started on adding new Soil to all the Pots out front, then about 2:30 in the Smoker with the Chicken Legs
That perfumed the air with Hickory Smoke while I kept on filling the Pots

~ All my Pots and Planters with New Soil ~

And I finally got all the Pots filled by the time the Chicken was ready to come out of the Smoker
Then some KC Masterpiece BBQ Sauce painted on the Chicken Legs and into the Oven to hold warm til Dinner<

~ Chicken Legs with BBQ Dry Rub ~ After Smoking ~

I had been sipping a Margarita out on the Veranda while I was filling pots
But then decided to mix my usual Mahattan while I caught up with the afternoon TV News
And the afternoon dwindled away and then it was time for Dinner and a Movie
A couple BBQ Chicken Legs, some Pasta Salad and a hunk of buttered Cornbread with my usual glass of Wine
And that happened to turn out as the best Smoked Chicken I have done in awhile<

Finished off my late Movie with a dish of Cherry Nut Ice Cream and off to bed
And wasn't that a nice long, busy and thoroughly enjoyable day to finish off a really nice Week

~ Ever Onward and Upward ~
