Well that was early Sunday Morning, Rain quit early, Sky brightened up and the Sun came out about 10 a.m.
So that changed plans some, then what to do? Well I worked my Lottos, entered the Losers for Points
Lookee there... 8,900 Points, lots of stuff available for that many points, but what do I want?
Well I saw nothing I needed and not much I wanted, how about some more Omaha Steaks?, about out of that
Well they had a nice Backyard Bonanza of 8 Steak Burgers, 8 Chicken Breasts and 8 Pork Chops for 8,900 Points
So I got online and ordered that, that will be here in about a Week or less
And the day slipping along fast... 1 p.m. 85 degrees but felt like 95, all that humidity after the Rain
I wanted to check the upper Gardens and headed up the Hill and everything was looking great
I see five Eggplants in there growing every day, a lot more 'Better Boys' Tomatoes on the Vines
And looks like the new Cucumbers doubled in size overnight and after the Rain
So it turned out to be another Gorgeous Day and I decided to head to English Landing Park
The Trail there is always next to or in sight of the Missouri River and usually more people using it
I unloaded the Bike at the Entrance Parking lot and set off down the River Trail
Lots of people at the two largest Picnic Shelters having fun and festivities
Quite a few walking and Biking the Trail on a fine Sunday afternoon
I didn't get far and needed a rest, stopped at a Bench on the River, two People and two Dogs at the next one
So we had a little Bench to Bench chat, I told them about the new Dog Park next Park over
They hadn't heard of it and said they would llke to go try it out sometime
And I set off down the Trail again, it was close to 90 then and I am still not ready for a long ride
I made it about a Mile down River, had another rest and headed back, the total trail is three Miles
Got within sight of the Entrance to the Park, got off and walked the rest of the way
That narrow Seat on the Bike doesn't fit me for a long ride, I had a bigger softer one on my old Bike
I'll have to see about getting one of those for the new one if I keep at this awhile
And back home to finish out the Day, had a Negra Modelo Cervesa while writing on this BLOG
Then some TV, some Dinner to wind things up and off to bed a little earlier than usual lately
Now Monday Morning... Hurray! I like Mondays to get the week started again
What to do? Not a clue.. But I'll find something to, don't I always?
So I'll have to keep an eye on them when they Bloom, and Pollinate them in case the Bees are too busy
Then I watered the whole Pumpkin Patch and back down the Hill with the Hose
And then... I was thinking a trip to the Price Chopper for a Steak to grill that afternoon
But it was after 10 a.m. already... I got a call from Odelon, a friend that does occasional work for the Complex
As he says he will be out later, can I come Visit and heat up my Tamales, why sure, come ahead
He said he would be here around Noon, wasn't here at 11:45 and I was ready to head out
And he showed up just as I headed out the Door, "Hola, cómo estás... Ven y visita"
And he came in, had a Cooler full of Cucumbers for me, hey! Nice ones, Ensalada on the way!
And so, he loaded his Tamales on a Plate, gave me several for later, we put his in the Microwave
Then I opened a couple Bottles of Negra Modelo Cervesa and we had a nice long Chat while he had his Lunch
When the Chat ran down, he headed outside, got his Clipboard and started on his estimate for Concrete Work
And one Project is apparently part of the Walk just up the Stairs at my place
So, if he gets the Bid from Boss Bob we will probably have his Tamale Lunch here again>
Then I headed out to the Price Chopper and found a couple small Top Sirloin Steaks on sale
And then made a Cucumber, Radish and Onion Salad and made Olive Oil and Malt Vinegar Dressing for that
I laced one Steak with Garlic Salt and Black Pepper, set it in the Fridge to season
Later fired up the Grill and let it sizzle awhile, real tasty way to end a pretty good day
Now to find something to do on another good day
It fits fine in there but it is a bit heavier than my stolen Trek, it was a lot lighter
So I'll just leave in there between Bike rides, no need to unload it here
It was late morning when I headed downtown and to Platte Landing Park on the Missouri River
As I said it was hazy Sunny and only 83 or so but felt a lot warmer than that... and Humid
Well the new Bike Trail connects to the English Landing Bike Trail at the Entrance to the new Park
But I drove to the Boat Ramp Parking Lot, the far end of the Trail, the Trail runs around the edge of the New Park
Then back to the Entrance and then back down the River to the Boat Ramp
I started at the X on the Map and followed the dotted line around the edge and then back to the Parking Lot
And I was all pooped out and ready to fall over when I got back from that Trek...
But I set up my Camera in the back of the Blazer to get a Photo of me on the Bike
And then something was wrong and I got no Video, but I really was there... On the Bike...yeah
Well I was sore three days from walking the Mile back from Chuck's Garage last Monday
And wondering how I will feel in the Morning
Ok, that was Friday and now Saturday Morning, and I was wondering how I would feel after that Trek
Well my legs feel GREAT! None of that cramping pain I was feeling the three days after my short Mile walk
Well, biking is a diferent type of exercise than walking, actually easier I think... Anyway...
I do have to get going on more walking and riding again... Yeah... Who's getting Old? Bet me Baby!
Then I fine tuned the final Assembly of the new Bike, by then almost Noon
I had thought I might run down to the new Park and try it out but was still a little creaky
That walk back from the Garage seemed easy when I did it but showed me I needed more of that
I used to walk the Mile downtown and back every day but that was in my youth in my 60s
Then I used to Bike down to the River Park now and then but kind of gave that up about two years ago
I guess I should do what Sigi says, get more exercise, but it's always too hot or too cold
So then on into the Afternoon, Boss Bob came by, I went out front to show him my Bike and New Grill
I did a little Clean-up on the grill then back inside to start on my Fried Green Tomatoes
I had three good sized Tomatoes but they were odd shaped like 'Beefsteak' Tomatoes tend to be
But I got five nice big slices out of the three, dipped in Flour, Egg and Buttermilk and Panko Crumbs
Then into the Fridge to 'set up' until time to deep fry them in my 'Fry Daddy'
Then TV and Manhattan time, later filled my Fry Daddy with fresh Peanut Oil and fired it up
Had my Oven on to keep a Plate warm to serve the Tomatoes, fired up the Fry Daddy and fried up the Tomatoes
They were large slices so I did one at a time for the first three and two for the Finale
Then I started on the Tomato Feast, tried a little of the El Pato Jalapeno Salsa that Pat Harris gave me
And that was tasty!... Different Taste for me, hadn't done that for years, kind of like my Oven Fried Eggplant slices
And also kind of like my Deep Fried Fish without the Fish Taste, overall, pretty good stuff, Maynard!
Anyway that was the Grand Finale for Thursday and I am now ready for Friday... Ole!
Maybe try that new Bike, maybe it will fit in the back of the Blazer, well shall we see?
First though, up the Hill to check the Garden after the last big Rain
And then away to the Price Chopper to trade in a $16 Winner for more losers, oh well
Then to find all the Goodies I needed from the Price Chopper for the Wednesday and Today
Back to the Meat Counter to find me a nice fat Frying Chicken to split and Grill
And some Buttermilk and Panko Crumbs to bread the Green Tomatoes to deep fry, maybe today
And a few other things I was low on... but DARN! Forgot the Sweet Vermouth, had to go back
So then about Noon or so I started on the Chicken, rinsed it good, then the Giblets out and in a Pot
Then I split it down the middle and removed the Back Bone, put that in with the Giblets
Some water in the Pot and on the Stove to make Chicken Stock, then seasoned the Chicken
Then Waxed Paper on a Cookie Sheet, then the Chicken and sprinkled it with Garlic Salt and Black Pepper
Covered with another piece of Waxed Paper and into the Fridge until Grilling time
And then the Fedex Man showed up with my Bike, started on the assembly
Somewhat disappointed with the Bike, heavy and cheap looking, not like my Trek that was stolen
But then it cost five times what this one did... And it won't get much use anyway
So I got most of it assembled, need to buy some metric wrenches to finish and fine tune it
Might run up to P&G hardware for that today, just a few Allen Wrenches, not expensive
So a pretty good day overall, all missions accomplished, no plans today except work on that Bike a little
Went out first thing Tuesday Morning to start on assembling the Grill again, my Tomato Plant was in the Yard
We had a Noisy Thunderstorm about 10 p.m. Monday night, must have had a pretty strong wind
I tried to set it back up, too heavy, so I went ahead with the Grill until time to go
Then about 8:30 a.m. I headed for the North Kansas City Hospital complex
Got there at 8:50, checked in and sat down to fire up my Laptop, usually a long wait
Didn't even get connected to their Network when the Technician called me in
She Did her usual Routine and then said the Nurse would be right in and she actually was
Then the Nurse asked her questions and made her notes and said the Doctor will be right in
But he took a little more time, I got connected and was working a Crossword when he came in
He asked where I was on the Net, I said working a Crossword and talking to Sigi in Germany
Then we got down to business, my PSA was at Zero again, he asked if I wanted the Lupron Shot
I said not really and he said we could try again in another six months, so... GOOD!
So then headed back with a stop at the Riverside RED-X for my Lottos
When I got back home I noticed my Tomato Plant was back on the Porch
So then back to the Grill assembly and I worked most all morning on it, slowly
Traded in $21 of winners, back home to scratch off a $20 win... Almost broke even
The Maintence Man, Tom, had put it back for me, I get a lot of good service here
After the mile walk back from the Garage yesterday I wasn't feeling too good
Not used to walking that much and my legs were sore and wasn't feeling good overall anyway
And I finally got it all together, tried out the Ignition and heard the click, click, click
When I got back home I noticed my Tomato Plant was back on the Porch
So then back to the Grill assembly and I worked most all morning on it, slowly
And then ready for Cook Test, I had one last Filet Mignon from my Omaha Steaks prize
I had it all seasoned up and waiting in the Fridge, I was going to fry it Monday evening
But I didn't feel like a Steak dinner then so I saved it, but just right for the First Test
So I oiled up the Grill like they said, fired it up, let it 'season' for awhile
Then time to try the Steak, plopped it on the Grill, flipped when it looked right
And plated it when I thought it was done, came out a perfect 'Medium Well' done
And it was just totally delicious! The seasoning or the Grill?, I'll say the Grill
Just can't been Grilling a Steak with cooking it in a pan
Now today? HAH! Gonna buy a whole Chicken, split it in half and Grill it!
Oh yeah! How Sweet that Will Be!
He dropped me off at the Price Chopper so I could get some Cash and trade some Lottos
Then I walked over to Chuck's, picked up the Blazer and headed home, a relief it's finally fixed
All quiet then until 4:30 p.m. Here comes the Big Brown Truck, guy lugged out a Big Box
Said it was 97 pounds and it sure felt like it, 93 Degrees then so I said just leave it out there
But later I did go out and start unpacking it, that thing was in 5,000 parts, looked like
I got some of it out of the box and kind of sorted but too hot out there to stay long
But then I was in and out and starting on the Assembly, and I got it looking like a Grill
Finally gave up and went to bed, started on it again this morning but today is Urologist Day
Got to head over there about 8:30, not wanting another Shot in the Bum but do what the Doctor days
Then back to finish up that Grill Asembly... Can't take over a week to do that... HUH?
So the Hoildays are over, the Decorations came down on Sunday afternoon
I headed out to get my Loser Lottos at Kicks 66 at 9 a.m. All losers again... DARN!
And then out front to measure my Beefy Boy Tomato Plant, still climbing the Pole
Now just at Six Feet tall... and with five Tomatoes so far, one BIG one
And another pretty much nothing day all day, took a walk up the Hill out back to check
Nothing much new back there, one Eggplant getting a little bigger each day
Some little Jalapenos on the Plants, a couple more Better Boys Tomatoes
The Pumpkin Vines still spreading and the new Cucumbers looking great
Almost to where the Bugs or whatever got the first ones, have to keep an eye on them
And then some watering with my Sprinkler Can out front and that was it for outside on Sunday
OK. now for Monday at 7:45 a.m. Headed out first to the Price Chopper for my Lottos
Then across the street to drop my Blazer off at Chuck's Garage, said they would call me
And then I walked the Mile back home, was back home at 8:15 a.m.
Had a second cup of Coffee, worked my Lottos for $20 worth of Wins for a change
Then got a Phone Call at 8:30, Christie at Chuck's Garage about my repairs
Said they checked and it was a Water Pump leak, not a Manifold Gasket... Whooopie!
That's about $200 less out of my Pocket this month than they had estimated. I can live with that
So, now today, have to find something to do until they call me to come and get it
May take a look out back to see what's what... Off we go!
And ran into Nature Sanctuary Director Bob Fluchel, Hey Bob, I have something for you
And he followed me out to my Blazer and I handed him the new Park DVD I made for him
He was heading out to pick up some Bicycles for a trail ride, reminded me of the new Trail
I got the Idea of cleaning up my Bike and trying out that new Trail myself
So I headed Home to work my Lottos and wanted to check my Bike on the way in
But coming down the Hill, took a look out front and WHERE WAS THE BIKE?
It has been sitting out front for a year or so, not locked up to anything
But now it was gone! I hadn't noticed, so when did it go away?
Well I have Photos of the Sweet Potato Plant out there, it was sitting behind it, so I checked my Photos
I have one taken on May 2nd and it is there, I have another on May 14 and you can't see it there
But the Photo was cropped and I don't think included the Bike, anyway sometime after May 2nd
So where did it go? Stolen I suppose, well was a good Bike but had some wear and rust
And I hadn't ridden it for two Years and was thinking of giving it away, so no big loss I guess
But after talking to Bob I had planned to clean it up for a test ride on that new Trail anyway
I suppose I could make a Police Report and then make an Insurance Claim, probably couldn't find the serial number
So give it up for a slight loss and then what? Well buy a new one of course, no fool like and old fool!
So I went shopping online at Walmart, HAH!, Mountain Bike for Cheap! And apply for a Credit Card and get $25 off
And a 2% Rebate from Ebates too, what a deal! Applied for the Walmart Card, approved, Bike on order
All just after a short Talk with Bob Fluchel for a rare ride on the new Trail, that a good deal?
Who cares, I don't ask questions, I just have fun, and I don't have a lot of time left to do that
So... go after it while I can still pedal a little and enjoy the ride...
Hey Hey... all the Way! See ya on the new Bike Trail in Platte Landing Park!
Back inside at 10:45, Shower time and time for a Treasure Hunt, where is that BIG ONE?
Well I was thinking Pasta Salad to go with my Ribs, no Pasta here so I headed to the Price Chopper
Picked up a large Green Pepper, some Celery and Vidalia Onions, then my Elbow Pasta
Got my Lottos from the Machine on the way out, bought $14 worth, WOW... won back $15!
Back home started on my Pasta Salad, quite a bit like my Potato and Egg Salads
But I throw in whatever I happen to have or come up with, I was thinking Green Pepper and Celery
Of course Eggs, Onions and Sweet Pickles, Mustard and Spin Blend... And maybe some Radishes?
And after the Pasta Salad was done and in the Fridge, the Ribs out of the Smoker at 2 p.m.
Slathered with KC Masterpiece BBQ Sauce, covered in foil and into the Oven to finish
Then the Ribs and Salad served at the 'Fiesta of the Fourth' to finiah out the Day
Yes Sir... I did have a 'Fine Fourth' and most all at Home except the trips to Kicks and Price Chopper
I will leave my Flag Decorations up until Sunday evening and finish up the Independence Day weekend
And that is about all of the Festive Days until 'Parkville Days' in August
But then I actually have a 'Holiday' every Day! How Sweet it Is!
Then I finished editing the cut from my Platte Landing Park Video and set it to upload
My first Edit starts and ends in front of my place, the trip downtown, through the Park and back
I cut that out of the Version that I will embed on the Park Web Page, more to the point of the Visit
Then I checked my Garden plants out front, the 'Beefy Boy' Tomato was wilting again
That thing is taking in a lot of water lately, looks like it is going to be every day now
I gave it a full Two Gallon Sprinkler Can full and it pepped right up again
Then I took a look out back on the Hill... Most looking OK, another new 'Better Boys' Tomato
My new Cucumbers looking great, have to keep an eye on them this time, the Swiss Chard not doing so good
And those Pumpkin Vines are heading for the City Limits! To the Right... Left and Up the Hill
And when the Video Upload to Vimeo finally finished I fired up the TV, tuned in Vimeo, watched the Edit
Ooops, as usual a couple mistakes in the Subtitles, and a spot that needed some sound
So I edited it all over again... Corrected the positon of the Subtitles, added a little Music
And uploaded it all again to Vimeo, this time I am pretty much satisified with it
OK... The Ribs out of the Fridge to warm to Room Temp before placing in the Smoker for a few hours
Let's go Celebrate the 2014 Version of the Fourth of July!
And then what? Well a gorgeous Day and no plans, thought about a catch-up Video at the new Park
So I set up my Tripod and Video Camera in my Blazer looking out the Windshield
Set the Camera to Record and headed Downtown, catch the trip down there and back on Video
I wanted the Video from my place to Downtown and also the trip back for my own DVD
For the Platte Park Web Page I Edited out the trip down and back, just left Video entering and leaving the Park
So I got Video all the way down, into the Park and to the Parking Lot there
Then got out to get Video of the 'Off Leash' Dog Park, then the Boat Ramp and Fishing Acess
A lot of area down there, lots of possibilities for expansion, so far the Boat Ramp is ready
And also the Dog Park and Hiking and Biking Trails, other Projects are planned
Then I set up the Camera in the Blazer again for the trip back
And then I had something to do for the rest of the afternoon, editing the Video
And burning a Blu-ray DVD for me, and two more for Bob Fluchel and Lewis Jonas
Now today I will edit the Video down to just entering, exploring and leaving the Park
Then render it to MP4, upload to Vimeo then embed it on the Platte Landing Park Web Page
Then I'll add it to My Page tomorrow to bore you to death
I got my scratchers at the Price Chopper as I had a couple Items to buy, this morning it was Kicks
Back then to wonder 'What's to Do Today?' No special Garden plans anyway, no watering
I had the Itch to go get some more Scratchers so I headed back to the Price Chopper
That time a little Better, won a Total of $26, had some to trade in this Morning
Not much else going for the day except just gorgeous weather, cooled down to the 70s earlier
Off this Morning to Kicks for my Lottos, I had the Quarterly Trip to Platte City scheduled again
I traded in $29 worth of Lotto Winners for $18 more, pocketed the $11 Profit
First stop was Chuck's Garage next to the Price Chopper. their Bid was $485, best yet
Next was Northland Auto Repair, next to Kicks 66, they wanted $550, no thanks
Then I stopped in for a full house of Lotto Duds from Kicks 66
Back home I remembered I have an semi-annual appointment with the Urologist next week
And I have to get a PSA Test the week before, so I headed to North Kansas City Hospital grounds
There is a Quest Labs there where I get my PSA tests, went in, signed in and waited 10 minutes
Then the nice Gal stuck me with a Needle and sent me on the Way, hope the PSA Number is as good as last time
I stopped in on the way back to buy a few Lottos from the Riverside RED-X
Then on back home to scratch off a $5 winner, and then what? Well, what to smoke July 4th?
So, I headed back to the Price CHopper. looking for a whole untrimmed Beef Brisket on sale
And then had Brisket but none on sale, and I didn't feel like spending $50 on one
But they did have baby Back Ribs on a fair sale and I picked up a slab for the Fourth
Back at el Ranchito again, checked the BBQ Dry Rub, just about out of that
So for something different I looked up some Dry Rub Recipes online, so what's the good one?
Most had some of the same ingredients so I decide to mix my own with what Spices I had
Brown Sugar, Garlic Salt, Celery Salt, Cumin, Black Pepper, Onion Powder, Garlic Powder, Paprika
And whatever else I threw in, well, see what this stuff does, can't be all bad
And then, I noticed my Beefy Boy Tomato Plant was wilty again, had to water that
I filled up my Sprinkler Can, Sunny and 93 Degrees out back, didn't want to drag the Hose around front
So I made several trips (many Trips) in and out with my Sprinkler Can to Water everything
And then again, we had a nice Rain Shower that Evening, still might need to water some this Morning
I checked the Bank onine, my IBM check is there right on time as always
And I had the Bills all scheduled to be paid online already so nothing more to do about that
So, Tuesday Morning 7 a.m. The Mowing Crew is due on Tuesdays, so out and up the Hill
I needed to get the Hose in and out of the way so they didn't chop it all up
Checked to see if the Beds needed Water, nope, the Rain took care of that
And the new Cucumbers look great (for how long this time), and still no Female Pumpkin Blossoms
So I got a Photo of an emerging Eggplant and dragged the Hose on down the Hill
Then I put out my Flag and Flags Fans for the Fourth, bring it on!
Then Shower Time and then off to search for that Pot of Gold, where is that Rainbow anyway?
Make pretty good progress but the line kept breaking inside the Spool, has a habit of doing that
Tried to find a Blade Conversion Kit like I once had but can't find one online
Anyway I would cut some then the Line would break and whirr and I would head for the Bench
Sat down, popped off the Spool cover to rethread the Line then back to cut some more
Finally I was dripping wet and ready to quit for that Session, got most all done that I wanted
Then back inside about 10 a.m. to shower and get ready for the rest of Sunday... Charge!
Not too bad at Lottos to start, got $16 of Winners at Kicks 66 but they gave me one wrong Card
I went back to trade in the $16 Winners and got my Favorite Card and then got a $10 winner on that
Then stopped by the Price Chopper for two more cards I had won on and got a $12 Winner
And so, By the by... I got a Snail Mail Saturday from MO Lotto about my Prize Gas Grill
Saying will be shipped in One to Two weeks, The Award Email had said Two to Four weeks so they are getting closer
So I moved my Smoker over to make room for it out front on the Veranda
At TV and Snack time I was thinking about those Pickled Eggs, another experiment?, make Deviled Eggs
Sounded like a feasable Idea, took a couple Eggs out of te Jar, did the usual Deviling
And they turned out pretty good, the White Part as Tasty as the Deviled Yolk, maybe too much spicy taste
Then tried some of that latest Ham and Bean Soup for Dinner, yeah that's good stuff
Now what? Last Day of June, Pay Day and New Month tomorrow, then the 4th of July on the way
Thinking of putting out my Flag Fans and Flag tomorrow, get started on the Holiday Early
