~ Pay Day Tomorrow! ~
~ More Forestry On Sunday ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Monday again... I love Mondays, it used to be Fridays but that was way back when I had to go to Work
For 27 Years now I have had those 5 Work Days to do as I please... well almost (as I please)

And so Sunday morning, up way too early, to make Sunday a long, long day but in nice Weather the Man says
I was eager to get back out in that primitive Jungle back there and do some more cleanup
But first to the Price Chopper to waste some more money on Lottos, but quitting 'Show Me Cash'
I just never win much of anything on those Draw Tickets, the Scratchers pay off nicely now and then
But in this Month of March the highest paying ones were a couple $50 wins.. BAH HUMBUG!

OK, I headed out back at 9 a.m. ...Sunny and Nice at 47 Degrees, with a light Jacket
Got the Chain Saw Cuttings from Saturday dragged to the Ditch and clipped some more Vines And Bushes
Wanted to clear a path in back of that Copse to get to the few remaining large(?) trunks
Some more limb dragging to the Ditch and then back in at 9:30 to rest up again

Then back out next at 10 a.m. to wire up some loose Netting on the big 'Drag Basket'
And then a lot more Clipping before I could fill the 'Basket' or do more Sawing
And I was all tired out again in a half Hour.. Oh my pore Back! And headed back in at 10:30

Back out at Noon and 65 Degrees to Rake some stuff into the big 'Basket' and Clip some more to stuff in
Then time to sit a bit, that pore Back... And I sat on a board in the Cucumber Bin
And was thinking, 'Nice warm day, going to be nice all week, let's plant something'
So back inside to get my Radish Seed Tapes to plant, but only 8 feet of Tape, needed 12 feet
I had planned to plant those in my 8 foot Tomato Bed... Not the 6 foot Cucumber bed, so what then?
So I went back in to get some more Radish Seed, see if the loose Seed does any better than the Seed Tapes I made

I finished out that second row of Radish seeds with loose Seeds, then watered them in good
Now to see when they begin to peek up, if and when that is... Back inside at 1:30 p.m. to start my TV session

~ The last Trees left in that Thicket to Cut ~

So, I made another big Plate of Antipasto to munch with my TV... Salami, Cheese, Olives, Carrots, yeah
And Town House Crackers for the Cheese and Salami, after all that I didn't have room for Dinner

So what for today? Oh WOW!, starting out this mornig at 60 Degrees! and going to 75! Spring is Here!
I have that big 'Basket' plumb full of Clippings to drag to the Ditch, maybe cut a few more Trees
Keeping that Area back there clear is going to be a never ending Job but I sure have a good start on it now
Also need to trim up the Spurge plants I planted last year, all brown and sure don't look like they will recover
And as the Weather warms up, more planting and more things to do Outside, just the way I like it!

Saturday at 10 a.m. Sunny but still chilly at 35 Degrees, saying going to 60 and I hope so
Headed to Kicks 66 first for my Lottos and a Can of Oil for my Chain Saw
Traded in the $15 winner of Friday for $14 more, won back $13, not too bad for the day's loss
Then I stopped back by P&G Hardware, needed a Funnel to pour the Oil into the Chain Saw Reservoir
Back home, put some Oil into the Chain Saw and then... Another 'Brunch'

About 11 a.m. warming up a little, headed out back to do a little raking and planning
Raked out another pile of Clippings to haul over to the Ditch, clearing out the area to cut
Then back in to rest up a little before trying out the new Chain Saw

~ Another Load of Clippings for the Ditch ~

And I headed back again a little after Noon, Sunny but under 50 Degrees, not bad with a long sleeve Shirt
This time with my Saw and Electric Cord and then... Clip, Clip, Rake, Rake and then Saw, Saw and Clip some more
Made a good start on that Copse I wanted to clear out but still more to do, tuckered out a little after 1 p.m.
Time to head back in... to cool off, actually worked up a sweat at 47 Degrees out there

~ First Area to Cut wih the Chainsaw ~ And the First Results ~

Then mixed my Manhattan, Edited my Photos, caught up this BLOG a little
Put out some Smoked Ribs and Home Made Bread for Dinner for whenever, on to catch up the TV

And then two more Episodes of Columbo... Some Ribs and a Glass of Vino Tinto and that was it... for Saturday

~ Dentist Vist First Thing Friday ~
~ New Chain Saw Delivered (But not Used) ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Off to see the Dentist at 8:30 a.m. Way too early again, appointment wasn't til 9
And it is only about 5 minutes down the road, oh well, better early than never
And then back to the torture chamber for whatever... This to be an easy trip though
I got a different Technician to do the cleaning this time and she was most thorough
She worked on me for at least a half hour, ...well last time they didn't spend much time at it

And then the Dentist came in to replace a filling that had come out... Easy enough
This was on a Tooth that had a Root Canal and never got a Crown and then cracked to the base
So this is still up in the air, (no hurry for me) ...what to do, may have to pull it and replace with a bridge

And so back by Kicks 66 to get my Lottos from J.P and on home to work a $15 winner... $1 profit for the day
Then Brunch... I don't eat before going to the Dentist, made a nice Reuben Samdwich on Home made Rye Bread
And warming up a little to 44 Degrees, but not quite enough by 1 p.m for comfort outside
Then waiting for the Fed X man to deliver my Chain Saw, might be too late to do much outside then

* And then, scanning the City of Parkville Newsletter it sends out from time to time a nice surprize! *

~ AND THE WINNER IS! ~

And Oh Lord it's so hard to be humble! Oh no, I don't even try to be humble, we all know better than that
Well sometime back they started this Photo Contest on the Facebook 'City of Parkville' Page
And of course I sent in a few of my Photos of Downtown Parkville and the River Park
The Photo here has been posted on the City of Parkville Web Page along with several others over time
In fact there is a winter Photo of mine of the Missouri Riverfront on the City Home Page now

It is the third Photo in the changing Banner Photo at the top of the page at ~ http://parkvillemo.gov ~

Well that's enough beating my own drum for one day, but I live for those Accolades!
On to the afternoon Routine waiting for my new Chain Saw, a Manhattan and TV

And that Chain Saw showed up about 4:30 p.m. This Gadget all Assembled for a change
Now all I have to do it run up to Kicks 66 for a can of Oil and then head out back to attack that Forest
When it warms up a little, that is... Now 31 at 5:30 a.m. but might hit 60 today... Ole!

~ Getting Everything put Back ~
~ A Short Check of the Back Garden ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Warmer on Thursday, but dark and drippy, was supposed to go to 65... nice!
So I headed out to Kicks for my Lottos and this time won my Money back, even up but no gain
And then back to try to find something to while away the wet and inside type day

I have been putting all the stuff back in the Bedroom without making a big hurry out of it
Soon had all put back except the Red Area Rug and Carpet Runner for the traffic areas
And since I had the Bedrooon stuff out of my Office Room then, I got the Shark Rocket in there
I had vacuumed it earlier with my Tank Type but it doesn't quite do the job, looks better now

~ Almost Finished except for putting the Red Area Rug Back ~

So, about 2 p.m. had warmed up to 62 Degrees, thought I would go check out back
Was still cloudy but the had rain stopped earlier, but started sprinkling when I went out
I stopped by the Rhubarb to get a catch up Photo and it is looking good, hoping for a couple Pies anyway

~ Rhubarb Looking Fresh and Green on Thursday~

And then up that Hill to take a look, scouting out what to cut down when I get my new Chain Saw
If the Fed X Man gets here early enough maybe I can try it out back there today

~ Target for my New Chain Saw Today (or Tomorrow)~

Earlier Thursday morning they forecast a Thunder Storm for about 2 p.m. and I heard a Rumble while back there
Then another Rumble and the sprinkling increased so I headed back inside... And then the Sun came out!

On into the afternoon, had a yen for some Potato Soup, that goes good now and then
Started in on that, finished up, then mixed my Manhattan and back to the TV

And again that about wound up the Day on Thursday, not a lot accomplished but some
The Bedroom is just about the same as it was before except that the ceiling and walls look a lot better
The Red Area Rug isn't back yet but it looks pretty good without it after the Shark cleaned the Carpet

And what for Friday? Dentist appointment for 9 a.m. to start the day
And Amazon says my new Chain Saw is out for delivery, but the Fed X man has been late lately
So it may be Saturday before I can get out back and try it out... But I'm ready now!

Sunny but COLD again... Off to get my Loser Lottos, no wins at all Wednesday
Then back home and Tom showed up a little before 9 a.m. to sand down his Drywall seams
He went out for something, then popped back to ask 'Got your Camera?' Why shore
And then I went out to Photo this Turkey flock in the Gully

~ Flock of Wild Turkeys in the Gully Wednesday Morning ~

He was done and vacuumed up just before the Painter arrived at 10 a.m.

And then Matt, the Painter came in and started his job, one coat on the walls, two on the ceiling
And then he was all done and headed out about 1 p.m, time to vacuum the whole Room
Gave that Shark Rocket a good workout, had to empty the fuzz out 4 times, that Tank type wasn't doing the job

~ Matt Painting my Bedroom Wednesday~

Then Tom came a knockin' again and put the Blades back on the Ceiling Fan and Covers on the Elec Outlets
Next Furniture moving back in time, only thing I couldn't handle was the Dresser, Tom dragged that in
Then Boss Bob came in and helped Tom Place the Dresser and Chest where I wanted them
Then they left, Mission Accomplished and then me just putting the Chest and Dresser Drawers and other Doo-Dads back
Now things are back and much better looking than when they started way back when they saw it was a bigger job than expected

And on to the rest of the day, I brought in the Pot with a Trellis and tranplanted the Sweet Potato
It was beginning to fall over, now it has support to climb to the top and more

Then on to the TV and Dinner to wind up another productive day...
I see my Chain Saw is due on Friday but now this morning it's all wet out there

~ Last Day of Bedroom Painting ~ I Hope ~
~ More Garden Tools ~ Ordered a Chain Saw ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

And cold again on Tuesday but warmer for today, they are saying and I am hoping
I want to get back out to the Forestry doings, was talking to Boss Bob back there a few days back
He said he had been trying to keep that area back there clear of brush but had just given up
Well now, that was the 'Go Ahead' for me, I already had a start on that with my Garden Beds
I had cleared the area directly behind them but since have been expanding my clearing area

I started with my Loppers and Hand Saw, later bought an Electic Weed Eater, that helped
Then I got a little Electric Lawn Mower to trim a bit closer, that worked pretty good
And so I got into that small Tree cutting the past week or so, a little too much work with a Hand Saw
Then I was thinking about the little Electric Chain Saw I had back at my old Place, that was handy
And I remember it didn't coat much, I was thinking less than $40, how about getting one?
So I found one at Amazon for just $49.99, no sales tax and free shipping... I ordered one Tuesday
I was thinking of doing a lot more clearing back there and that would be just the Tool for the job... Oh yeah!

~ Back Beds march 15, 2013 ~ February 22, 2014 ~

So, Tom showed up again to do a little more 'Mudding' and installed new trim on the Bedroom door
He is supposed to finish this Morning with a little Sanding and then the Painter starts
Sure will be great to have that Room painted and get all the stuff back where it belongs
So, first thing this morning I moved myMattress and Box SPring to the Kitchen
Took all the Drawers out of my Dresser yesterday so it will me easy to move, all ready for the Painter now

So to wind up the Day on Tuesday I set out a Fish Filet to thaw, Got the Fry Daddy ready
Cut a nice big white Potato up into Fries for Dinner, then of to the TV to catch 'Bates Motel'
And as it was the last time, that Program is getting more weird every episode!

And so, the Nature Sanctuary meeting was scheduled for 7 p.m. Tuesday
At 6 p.m. I was just getting ready to fry up that Fish and Chips and not wanting to go
So I cooked my Fish and Taters, plated it up and put on another Episode of Columbo
And as Eleanor Roosevelt used to say... that was 'My Day'...

And another look at that Sweet Potato plant this morning, grew 5 inches overnight
I am going to have to get that thing planted in the Pot with a Trellis, beginning to fall over

~ Sweet Potato Monday 18 Inches ~ Tuesday 23 Inches ~

Might just try to do that later today... Charge!

~ Ceiling will be Finished Wednesday ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Cold again Monday Morning and Cloudy when I headed to Kicks 66 for my Lottos
Saw Boss Bob on the way, stopped to tell me my Ceiling would be the first project of the Day
Didn't get to talk to J.P. at Kicks, headed on back to scratch off all Losers... Drat!

And then Tom showed up about 10:30 or so, started on the Ceiling again
He puttered around for maybe an Hour or so, more 'Mud' on the Drywall Ceiling
He packed up to leave, said two more trips and he was all done, then time for the Painter

~ New Ceiling ~ A Coat of Paint and Finished!~

He needs to touch up the Taping today, then come back in the Morning to smooth things out
And he better finish fast then, the Painter is due Wednesday Morning, Boss Bob says

And then, my Sweet Potato in the Pot, growing fast like a Weed now, it needs to go outside
I want to put in in a Pot with a Trellis and let it climb, not quite warm enough yet
I had one inside once and it climbed a String clear up to the Ceiling and started back down

OK, so what then, that was just about the day, More TV, a Manhattan AND... a Margarita... Whee!
And what for Dinner? I can't remember... Oh yeah, more Beef and Noodles, that was good stuff!

So today? Well, my Lottos, I won $1 on the Show Me Cash last night... WOW! So $4 to trade today
Then Tom comes back to do more on the Ceiling, and then a Nature Sanctuary Meeting tonight
And the usual question, do I really want to go? (to be Announced later)

~ Off to the New Day! ~ Ever Onward and Upward! ~

~ Another Vine Time in the Back Garden ~
~ More Clipping and Raking ~ Then Cooking ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Sunday all over again and cooler all over again, Sunny but barely in the 40's
So, I needed Wine and Scratchers and Onions and Chicken Stock and Gravy and Noodles
Had a hunk of Roast Beef left so was thinking of Beef and Noodles, sounded good to me
First to Gomer's and my Wine was $2.00 off a Gallon so I got two Gallons, that will buy another Scratcher
Then to Kicks 66 for my Lottos and the Clerk charged me $5 less that he should have
Should I run back and tell him? Well it wasn't J.P. or I would, see if they are short that $5 tomorrow

Then next door to the Price Chopper for my Noodle Goodies and back to scratch off only a $3 win<
Maybe that's my punishment for that extra $5 I got back, ya suppose

Well then, still pretty chilly out there but I headed out back to check the Vines
I pulled down and cut off one about an inch thick Saturday, but there is this huge one that won't budge
It is hung up way up in the Tree behind, I'll figure how to get it down from there
I already cut it free from it's base so it won't grow anymore anyway

~ This Big One is Hung up in the Tree ~

Back inside, too chilly to be clipping anymore just yet, wait for a warmer day to do more
And then on to cooking up my Noodles, I don't just stop with the Beef and Noodles and Gravy
I like some Onions in there too, and I have some Celery that will help some, maybe some green Pepper
Saute the Onions, Celery and Green Pepper in a little Olive Oil, simmer the Noodles in some Chicken Stock
Then Chip up the Beef and add everything together with some nice Beef Gravy... Yeah, El Pato Style Noodles

Once again, TV Time with Columbo, not tired of him yet, 43 Episodes it says, and now doing it the second time
Well the third Episode of the new Season of Bates Motel is due today or tomorrow for a change of pace
So then my daily Manhattan and then later a Glass of Vino Tinto with a dish of Beef and Noodles
Turned out pretty tasty for Dinner and then some Choco Chip Ice Cream to wind up the Day

Now today, Tom should show up sometime this Morning to finish up the Ceiling Dry Wall
Then the Painter some time after that and I'll have a brand new Bedroom!

But the Weather Man says colder again and maybe wet too, no good prospect for Garden Work.. Oh Well

~ On to the Day Again! ~ Ever Onward and Upward! ~

~ Back to the Garden Again ~
~ More Clipping and Raking ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Saturday Morning and Colder, have to warm up some for me to get out back today
Anyway, headed to Kicks 66, my Lottos and won NUTHIN! How can anyone live like that?
Stopped back by the Price Chopper for CHeese and a Bulb for my Porch Light
I have been buying a nice clear Globe for that but they don't seem to last very long
So this time I got one of those new Fluorescents, not so pretty but may last some time longer

Noticed my Potted Sweet Potato when I came in, started growing Leaves the last couple days
Remember Rudolph the Red Nosed Sweet Potato when I planted him in February
When it gets a little warmer I'll put him outside in big Pot with a Trellis to let him climb

~ Rudolph, February 4 ~ Planted February 4 ~ Now on March 22 ~

OK then, about 1 p.m. and Sunny and a bit Warmer but still need a light Jacket
Out back again to see what I could play with, checked the Rhubarb on the way, looking good!
Then I decided to rake up some of the stuff I clipped down the last time, but where to put it
In the Ditch of course but it's way down there, need a great big Basket<
OK, how about that old Pumpkin Patch Cage Cover, just sitting there useless

~ Big Pile of Vines and Leaves ~ Raked into the Cage ~

~ Cage Flipped to Hold the Stuff ~ Ready to be Dunped into the Ditch ~

And then back inside about 2 p.m. Cocktail Time and then 'What's for Dinner'?
Well I had made a Stuffed Green Pepper and didn't use it for Dinner before so let's try that
Maybe a Boiled 'Jacket' Potato with lot's of Butter, Salt and Pepper, a piece of my Rye Bread
That just might do but first, let's catch-up on the afternoon TV and sip my Manhattan

So after another Episode of Columbo was finished I attacked that Stuffed Pepper and Tater
Best thingthat happened all afternoon, now what awaits for Sunday?

~ On to the Day Again! ~ Ever Onward and Upward! ~

~ Tom Finishing up my Ceiling ~
~ Tried Baking another Loaf of Bread ~ Oh Oh! ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

So Noon time on Friday and catching up the BLOG a little, not a lot going on yet
First to Kicks 66 for my Scratchers, only a $6 Win, then back to the Price Chopper
I had forgoten my Apple Juice and Plastic Wrap, then back to wait for the Ceiling Crew again
And then found I was all out of Milk, and was thinking of baking more Rye Bread
I looked up another Recipe online, found one that looked interesting but called for Gluten
And back again to the Price Chopper for Milk and Gluten and some metal measuring Spoons

Back at the Ranchito to start on my Bread, the Ceiling guys not there yet
Started the Bread, a little more complex Recipe this time but I took my time and hope I got it right
This time the Cocoa Powder, Molasses and Gluten were the extras from the Recipe
Got it all into the Machine, plugged it in and it started Chugging merrily away

Well that was Written on Friday, Now Saturday Morning and continuing my take of woe
About 1 p.m. Tom, the Maintenance Man showed up and started on finishing up the Drywall
While he was busy at that I headed back out side and up the Hill again
I did some maintenance to my Tomato Cage, reinforcing the Fencing inside that the Tomato Vines climb
Then I dragged that Tree I cut down the previous day and tossed it over into the Gully back there
Next some more clipping and raking and then on back inside where Tom was finishing up for the day
He has one more trip for one more coat of 'Mud' and then it will be ready for the Painter

Oh, one Photo of the Hole that I saw in my Tomato Bed, a Mole has been tunnelling all over back there
And looks like he has made it into two of my Garden Beds there, hope he's gone by Planting time
I thought I would be a little cute and added the Mole popping up in that hole to the Photo

So then, Tom left, and the Bread was about done by that time, then the Alert went off
And I popped the new Loaf out of the Bread Pan... OH WOE! What happened?
I went by all the Instructions and Ingredients but the Loaf was Misshapened and hard Crusty all over
After it cooled I tried slicing it and did save a few slices that might be edible, tastes good anyway

Well, I won't be using that Recipe any more, the Recipe in the Bread Machine book worked OK
Except it didn't taste much like Rye and was a lighter Color, I think I can fix that in the next try

And that was it for Friday, one of my Freezer Pizzas for the Columbo Episode and off to Bed
and Oh Oh, cold again this Morning and not even into the 50's today... Oh Woe again

~ Anyhow.... ~ On to the Day ~ Ever Onward and Upward! ~

~ Friday ~ March 21, 2014 ~
~ The Crew Working on My Ceiling ~
~ And Me doing Heavy Duty Foresting in The Back Preserve ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Again, off to Kicks 66 to trade in some Winners for Losers, $16 paid. $3 Won, not so good
And then waiting for the Guys to work on my Bedroom Thursday, supposed to arrive about 10 a.m.
And had noticed my Battery Backup for my U-Verse Online Phone was Blinking Red
Said to replace the Battery so I got Online to shop, found one for $14 plus Shipping, not bad
Direct from Belkin would cost $40, Total with Shipping was $21.68, and now on the way

So then Tom showed up and took down the Ceiling Fan, started hunting for the Ceiling Rafters
Then Matt, the Painter and Boss Bob showed up to help Tom with the Drywall and away they went

~ Ready for the Drywall ~ Tom at the Ceiling ~ Boss Bob, Tom and Matt ~

So they went to work in the back Bedroom and I went out back and up the Hill to Clip and Saw
There were two Trees back there I wanted to cut down, I cut down the smaller one
But the other was a bit too big for my little Hand Saw, maybe attack it later
But getting that one out of the way will eliminate a lot of the Vine Troubles back there

~ Trees I want to Cut ~ One Down, One to Go ~

And then, pretty well tired out, back in for my Manhattan and then the Crew wound up their Project for the Day
They will come back for the Taping and Finishing and then later the Painter can finish

That pretty well finished up the Day, I made a cocktail from 1/2 tsp of Soda Bicarb and two Aspirin
Then my Back and Stomach felt pretty good after about a half hour and on to the TV
Another Episode of Columbo for the second time, they are still interesting, I miss things the first time
Then some more of that Cheezy Broccoli and Home Made Bread and then off to dream of new paint on the walls

Now om will be back today to 'Mud' and Tape the Drywall seams and then Matt will be back to paint
And then they will live happily ever after!

~ On to the Day ~ Ever Onward and Upward! ~

~ Thursday ~ March 20, 2014 ~
~ Another Full Pack of Lottos ~ No Big One! ~
~ More Back Bed Clipping ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Yeah, the more I clip back there the more I see I want to clip, some very large Vines
It looks like there are some things that look like trees that grow into Vines... weird...
A couple more good size ones that I want to get closer to and Saw down before they climb the Trees

And again Wednesday morning, a little Cooler again, said was going to 60 and didn't get out of the upper 40's
Looks a little better today, starting at 36, says high 60's next two days
Headed to the Price Chopper for my Lottos Wednesday, and just won a couple $6 ones
Later got bored and headed to the Bank for some Bucks and then to Kicks for a Full Pack
They didn't have one so I headed back to the Price Chopper and got a Pack of the New Scratcher
60 of those went pretty fast and as usual no Big One in that pack, tops was a $50 Win
Won $170, lost $130, well I can use those winners to try to win more, biggest I ever got in a pack was a $50 Win>

And so by 1 p.m. it had warmed up to about 45 so I headed out back again, a little chillier than Tuesday
First drilled a couple holes, then put two Screws in the ends of the Trellis Top to hold it in place
Also gives a bit more bracing to the Cucumber Bed Cage I moved up there on the Hill

Then I grabbed my Loppers and started clipping more Vine Roots in my new Pumpkin Patch location
These weird 'Tree-Vines' send out underground 'runners' that then root and grow into new Tree Vines
So I have been trying to clip out all the runners that I can find, I pull them up when I rake back there

Then on into a typical afternoon Routine and no special Cooking episodes, Ho Hum...
Now Thursday, the main Event is starting on the new Bedroom Ceiling, they are supposed to be here at 10 a.m.
So that will be a mess for a couple days but then a nice newly painted Room for me

~ On to the Day ~ Ever Onward and Upward! ~

~ Back to the Garden Beds ~
~ Back to more Spring Weather ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

And I set off to Lowes Home Improvement Center about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday Morning.. and 45 Degrees
I parked near the the Loading Dock Entrance and headed inside... But the Garden Stuff was way at the far end
That is about a good City Block from the Loading Dock but the Garden Center was not open for the Season yet
When it's open you can just wheel the stuff out to the Parking lot... Anyway I got a little Cart and loaded it up
I bought six Bags of Miracle-Gro Garden Soil, the high Priced kind with Plant Food in it, oh well it's a Hobby
Then wheeled it all the way back to the Loading Area, checked out there and a big strong Guy loaded it for me

And then back by Kicks 66 and the Price Chopper and the Fast Stop for my Lottos, no go on any of them
Next, called Boss Bob to ask for his Wheelbarrow, said he was on the way down to the Work Shop
So I walked across the Street and he wheeled the Barrow out for me, and I started Hauling
Well the bags weren't all that heavy but that Hill is steep so I took them one at a time

~ Took Six Trips to get it All Up There

That done I had to do a little Reinforcement of one Bed with Screw Eyes and Wire, and finished that first
Then dumped and raked all the new Garden Soil out nice and smooth and ready for Planting

~ Garden Beds Ready for Seed and Transplants ~

Not much more needs to be done back there until it is warm enough to plant, 3 or 4 more weeks
Looks like the next Action will be on Thursday, Boss Bob dropped by and said they will start on my Bedroom
Quite a job, they are going to put new Drywall on the Ceiling, then paint the whole Room
So I'll be moving my Mattress in and out of there for the next three days or camp out on the Couch

And now finshed with Outside for the time being, time to sip that Manhattan and catch up on the TV
And see 'Whatever is for Dinner?'

And whatever it was for Dinner was another Corned Beef Reuben Sandwich, getting some milage out of that
Some more of Columbo, haven't tired of that series for the second time yet, still more to go
And then I dragged my weary bones to bed, that busy day wore me pretty much all out

Now for today... No plans, except I ned to pir a couple screws in the Cucumber Trellis back there
But then I'll find something to complain about inside or out, you bet

~ A Warmer Monday ~ And Again Today ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Well that was quite enough of that Non-Holiday, at least we got the Mail delivered Monday
And it did warm up some too, started at 20 Degrees for a very slow warm up to the 40's later
And now this Morning starting off at 44 and going to 66 later, about Springtime again
And what to do today? I was thinking of getting some Garden Soil Sunday but it was cool in the Morning
And I don't like to shop much for things like that on Weekends, maybe today?

No Cooking projects, got the Fridge and Freezer stuffed again, need to play catch-up again
I like to cook and just cook way more than I can eat at the time so have a lot of 'Warm Uppers'
More Ammo in there for a few more Corned Beef Dinners and Sandwiches, that Homemade Bread sure goes good with that

And so, nothing much going on yesterday to wind up the Weekend and start the Week
Now thinking that I'll run over to Lowes this Morning, buy maybe 6 bags of Garden Soil
Then see if I can haul it up the Hill to those back Garden Beds... Tally Ho!

~ Saint Patrick's Day! ~
~ Back to the Cold on Sunday ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Sunday Morning, Dark, Cold, Wet, Dreary and a light covering of Snow on my Blazer again
And off on a still Dark and Dreary and Wet and Cold 32 Degrees to Kicks 66
And no Customers so J.P. and I had a nice Chat, except he says he is leaving Kicks 66 in a couple weeks
So how come all the Best ones leave and they hire more Duds? Oh well, they only pay minimum Wage

Then next Door to the Price Chopper for a couple Lottos that Kicks didn't have
And back home in the still Dark, Cold, Wet and Dreary Morning to scratch off a $12 win, lost a little
So then what to do on a Dark, Cold, Wet and Dreary Day for the rest of the Day?

Well, not much, was thinking a Reuben Sandwich might be nice for Pre-St Pat's Day
So I had everything I needed here except some Sauerkraut so back to the Price Chopper
And I picked up a Can of Baravian style Kraut and a package of Caraway Seeds for my next Rye Bread
Most every recipe calls for them but I didn't have any when I baked my last Loaf

The only thing to cook was to pep up the Saurkraut a little so I started on that
I diced up a slice of Bacon and sliced some Onions into a Pot to saute with a tad of Olive Oil
When that was well softened I dumped in the Kraut and stirred it in to heat, then set aside to cool
And then on to another couple editions of Columbo, second time around more interesting than the first

Finally between Episode 5 and 6 it was time to construct my Sandwich
Two slices of my Home Baked Rye Bread (sans Caraway Seeds) spread with Three Cheese Ranch Dressing
Then a Thick layer of Corned Beef, some Mustard, then a couple slices of Swiss Cheese, yeah!
And then topped with a layer of Bavarian Style Sauerkraut... (Hey, that has Caraway Seeds in it... HAH!)
Then to toast it all in the Skillet with Butter to meld everything together

~ Nice Big Fat Cheesy Reuben Sandwich on Sunday ~

And Hey!... that was a really good way to finish out the Next Episode of Columbo and then toddle off to Bed

So... What Dandy Dish to celebrate the Official Saint Patrick's Day with today?
Well I'll think of something and so the Top O the Marnin' to Ye now

~ Started on St. Pat's Day Celebrating ~
~ Corned Beef and Cabbage on Saturday! ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

And it started off nice again Saturday Morning and on through the day
Off to Kicks 66 and the Price Chopper for scratchers, have $20 worth to trade in today
And then what? Well, I sliced up my Corned Beef for whenever, some for the Freezer
I used my Meat Slicer to slice up my Rye Bread on Friday but used a Knife for the Corned Beef

And then I headed up the Hill in back again, about 60 some degrees and only a T-Shirt again
I didn't do any more Clipping, just pulled some vines down from high in the trees
They had climbed down the Branches and were shading the back part of the Beds there
A couple Tree branches back there too I would like to cut off, shading some also

And then after that I pruned the Rose Bushes out front, they were getting a bit straggly
And I had shoved my largest Planter to the far end of the Porch too
Planning a Tomato Plant in that one this Year and there is more Sun way over there

And then into the Afternoon... I am watching the Columbo episodes all over again
They are still interesting, even the same stuff, I do miss parts the first time seems like

And then Dinner, I had sliced up the Corned Beef, needed some Cabbage, Potatoes and Carrots
So then I simmered the Veggies in some Broth from cooking the Corned Beef
Served that up with a Toasted and Buttered slice of my Home Baked Rye Bread

~ Pre St. Pat's Day Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner ~

And as good a way as any to wind up another pretty nice warm day
Now this Morning, Sunday, they are saying colder and Light Snow... Old Man Winter... Just give up and go away!

~ St Patrick's Day Monday ~ Corned Beef on the Way! ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Well I was wondering, when is St Pat's Day anyway, Aha, my Calendar says next Monday
So that means that Corned Beef is on Sale at the Price Chopper, I didn't notice Thursday
And then out for my Morning Trek, first to Kicks 66 for my Scratchers, next to the Price Chopper
And... I wanted Rye Bread for my Corned Beef so why not Bake some in my Machine
But I needed Rye Flour for that and the Book says use Dry Milk, I don't have that
So I picked up a five pound Sack of Rye Flour, that stuff ain't cheap! And a pack of Dry Milk too

And then on back to the Meat Counter for the Corned Beef, picked out a nice 3 pound Flat Cut
The only time of the Year that Boyle's is on sale, highest price but well worth it, I got $1.63 off this one

~ Kansas City's 'Famous' Boyle's Corned Beef ~

And at 11:00 a.m. the Bread ingredients had been measured and mixed and into the Bread Pan
And the Bread Pan installed in the Bread Machine and the Machine was chugging away

And then the Corned Beef and package Liquids and Spices were placed in the Crock Pot to simmer all afternoon
Now what? see what's happening out back and up the Hill?

Out back into the Sunshine and up the Hill in Shirt Sleeve Weather again... so nice now
Remembering that foot of Snow out front... When, a week or so ago? And those Temps in the Teens!
Anyway some more Vine clipping, Pulled a big long one down out of the Tree, Should have got a Photo
Then some more Raking down to the Ditch, getting a truck load stashed in there
And I noticed some Rhubarb popping up in the Side Bed, back in to get the Sprinkler Can
And my Camera to get a shot of that early sign of a Rhubarb Crop, looking good

Back out in 60 Degree Weather then to water the emerging Rhubarb and get a couple Photos

~ Three Rhubarb Plants Peeking Out ~ All Survived the Transplant ~

And then back inside, time to take the Bread out of the Machine and mix a Manhattan and turn on the TV
And then... What's for Dinner? Well a Pork Chop, Some Cheezy Broccoli and a piece of that Rye Bread
Well the Bread was that chewy Home Baked Bread texture that I like but didn't taste much like Rye
But then, that Bread Machine bread I baked first tasted better after a day or so, maybe this will too

And then, I finally took the Corned Beef out of the Crock Pot, so tender it was falling apart
I wrapped that up for overnight in the Fridge, make it easier to slice sometime today
And then some of that Corned Beef... and Cabbage... before St Pat's Day even gets here?

~ Spring Weather Back Again ~
~ Back to the Garden ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

A late start on Thursday, slept in until 7 a.m. About unheard of at my place
And then Chat with Sigi and later with Shallu, a guy from India from the old Kitchen Chat Room
And then we were on Video Chat for over an hour or so before I left to do my Morning Routine
So a late start to head out to Kicks 66 in 53 degree Weather, looking good
So I got my Scratchers from J.P. and headed next door to the Price Chopper
I got that 50 Cent Cabbage and 99 Cent Broccoli Bunch there on Wednesday, and I wanted that 99 Cent Cauliflower
And then I noticed that a lot of things were only 99 Cents in the Produce Dept, all over! Some Sale!
Large Cantaloupes for 99 Cents too so I picked up one of those and a big Cauliflower

~ Everything on Sale in Produce at 99 Cents Each! ~

Then back home to scratch off a nice $22 Win, got a little profit on that bunch of Tickets
And then I headed out back and up the Hill at 1 p.m. Sunny and 56 degrees... T-Shirt Weather again?
Well it said 56 Degrees and I had on a long sleeve Shirt but again, it came off pretty fast
And it was 65 Degrees when I came back in about 3 p.m. Again a really nice day and so quiet back there

~ This from an Hour's Work Back there Today? ~ And Does the new Pumpkin Patch Go here? ~

Then is was about time to start on Dinner... Cheese up that big Head of Cauliflower
And I did it just like the Broccoli... Boil and Blanch and then make the Cheese Sauce
Into the Oven until I was ready for Dinner, and it turned out almost as good as the Broccoli
It was about as good as I have done but as Sigi says... I like the Broccoli just a tad better

~ Some Real Good Cheesy Cauiiflower ~
