Then back to the cleaning Project in the Office Room, that's close to being work
And I forgot how to spell that word, haven't done much of that since 1987
Vacuumed first, then got out the Shampooer I hadn't used for many years
I had to read up on how to use it but it was pretty simple and I shampooed away
Then a little more vacuuming and waiting for it to dry to put the Chair Mats back down
I rearranged the Mat placing some, them used the Duct Tape to keep them from shifting
I do a lot of rolling around from the Computer to my Desk, and I like the Mats to stay put
So then I was thinking that the Carpet didn't look all that much better after the Shampoo
Maybe needed to get an Area Rug for the path from the Door to the Chair Mats? Yeah
So I headed off to Kmart.. and then the temp was up to 45... How about that!
Looked around in Kmart, found a nice Area Rug that would match the colors of the room
Headed back then to mix a Manhattan and watch some TV until the Carpet dried
And then put the big desk Chair Mat back down, duct taped the Mats together
And then layed the new carpet down to finish the Project, looks pretty good to me
And that was pretty much that busy day on Thursday, now that weekend looming again
Hey, we are halfway through February already!, come on... gimmee some March weather
Well we get some this week for a few days, hope those teens fade away for a year now
So, I began again on that Project Wednesday Morning, tryng to vaccuum up some first
That room gets a lot of traffic and most right from the door to the Chair Mats... and so
I needed to Shampoo the Carpet, should I try it, or ask Boss Bob when the Carpet man would show up next
Well for me to do it I would need some Carpet Cleaning Solution and had to get some first
And by Noon it was about 28 degrees so I went out to try the Blazer again
I flipped on the Ignition... No dash lights, not good, tried the Starter, just that click click click...
So I was stuck for the Day again, Oh Woe!, I hate to be without wheels... marooned again
Anyway, I had thoughts of Pie again, where is that Pumpkin I had in the Freezer?
I found one Container of raw Pumpkin and one of Pumpkin Pie Custard already mixed
So I started out pre-baking a frozen Pie Crust I had in the Freezer and thawing that Pumpkin Mix
Then into the Crust with the Custard, and into the Oven with the Pie, filled the place with Pie Aroma again
On into a kind of boring afternoon then with a Manhattan and another Netflix Movie
I got a call at 4:30 from Bob, my Mechanic friend, said he was on the way to Riverside to pick up a Battery
So then I had left the Hood Popped open, I looked out at 5 p.m. to see him hook up a Jump Starter
Then he came in for the Key, stuck it in the Ignition, I saw the Headlights come on and it Started!
So it was just the Battery after all and he started installing the new one, took almost ten minutes!
He came in, I put on my Jacket, I said follow me up to the ATM, pay you for the Battery and work
I was planning on Paying him the Battery cost of $101.00 plus 50 Bucks for his trouble
He said no, he had to get Home, I could come over some time to get his email going on his Laptop
And he left... And I was so happy and grateful that I actually started to cry... WHAT? Big Boys don't cry!
Well, I don't ask people for much help and don't get much, so when I do it sort of does me in
Anyway then off to the Price Chopper for a few things I needed and I'll get the rest today at P&G Hardware
And then, warmed up a Turkey Dinner and lived happily ever after!
So it says 14 Degrees at 6 a.m. and scheduled to hit above freezing at 33 today
Then a week of temps in the 40's, even may hit 50 Wowwee! I like that
Now won't be so long til I can get back digging in the dirt up the hill in back
So, it hadn't warmed much Tuesday when I decided to head out, but the Blazer wasn't ready
Wouldn't even turn over once, just a thunk and then a click, click, click
So I was thinking corroded Battery cables again and after it warmed up a tad I went to clean them
Then I was ready to head out, tried to start it up and no go just like before.. Now What?
And I was completely out of wine and low on Bourbon, a crisis looming
But I had enough for a couple Manhattans so I found something to putter with that afternoon
And then about 5 p.m. I called a Mechanic friend, asked if he could take me to Gomer's on his way home
So that was agreeable and he stopped by, looked my Blazer over first, said he would get me a Battery
Then on to Gomer's for a Gallon of Vino Tinto and a 1.75 liter of Old Crow, back home to finish out the day
So today, 14 Degrees to start, saying about 30 by Noon, maybe the Blazer will start
I do need a couple things at the Price Chopper and got no Scratchers on Tuesday... Oh Woe
And if it won't start, well then maybe Bob and the Battery wil show up this evening?
I had sort of been expecting that, it has been balking at starting the last few days
I don't think it is the Battery, I replaced that not too long ago, but it has done this twice before
The Battery Terminal had become corroded those times and cleaning it fixed that
But in this Cold I have been putting that off, thought I would maybe later in the day
But I went out later, it did start up and I made my Scratcher Hunting trip out and back
Thinking I'll tackle that Terminal cleaning Project later... Maybe it will warm up some day...
Anyway, then scratched off only a solitary $3 Win... Bah Humbug! On with the Day
And about 11 a.m. I got a call, Odilon, mi Amigo, he was back sweeping and shoveling the new Snow
He wanted me to nuke his Tamales for his lunch again... I said 'Bienvenido a mi casa' and he came by at Noon
So I nuked up his Tamales, gave him some of my Homemade Salsa and he ate while we had a chat in Spanglish
Then he left and on into a boring afternoon, what then another Colombo Video? Maybe not
I was checking at Netflix online and found several others I wanted to watch and added them to my list
And then on into that usual uneventful Afternoon of TV and Snacking, in a rut or what?
So that was about it again for Monday, Baked a Tater and Nuked up a Stuffed Green Pepper... Adequate
Off to bed to dream and hope for a warm day some day
And then off to Breakfast or was it Brunch? Anyway 9:30 a.m. to make up that Ham And Egg on Toast
This time I had a fresh loaf of Bread I stashed in on Saturday, replaced that throw-away half Loaf
Then on into another lackluster day, February living up to the name I give it
I did find a Series on Netflix that I find entertaining all over again... Colombo
Predictable, sometimes funny but most always entertaining, watched three Episodes so far, many waiting
And so much better quality on the HD TV, no commercials and beautiful Photography on the big screen
So that finished up Sunday, gnawed on a roasted Turkey leg while watching TV, just 'grazing' all afternoon
And then late afternoon I got a call from Tom the Maintenance man, wanted to know the Street condition
It had started snowing in the afternoon, wanted to know if we needed the Plow or Salt truck yet
But only maybe a half inch on my Blazer and the Street looked good, still does this Morning
But 6 degrees out there this Monday Morning, here we go again... Where is the Heat Button?
And so, Saturday was pretty much like Friday, just not much going on, those winter Doldrums ya know
But I did start Saturday early with a Tech Task, hooking my up Bose 'Solo' Speaker system again
I didn't have the old TV hooked up right to my Surround System and used the Bose Solo with that
I used the Surround for the DVD Player but the Bose Solo for the TV hooked to my U-Verse Receiver
That worked OK but then I got the new TV and hooked it up the way the Book says
All inputs go into the Surround System Amp, then out to the TV input by the HDMI output Cable
But then I noticed that when I played Netflx Movies or my Vimeo Videos from the Samsung TV 'Smart-Hub'
The sound would have to come from the TV Speakers, not the Surround Speakers
Well, that was almost OK, but not the full Bass Sound that they should have
So I hooked up the Bose Solo Speakers again, and again that works great with Movies
And then that was how I spent Saturday afternoon, watching a great movie with great sound
And during that, I set out the last of that Breaded Shrimp to thaw for snacking
Then fired up the Fry Daddy. took out time to fry up those last 13 Shrimp
Then finished them up watching the last of the Movie
And then that was the finale for the evening and off to dreamland
And so, a little start heading out on my Lotto chase but I got it some and won $23, not much profit
Then a late breakfast, thinking Ham and Egg on Toast, yeah, good stuff...
But when I got there, the cupboard was bare, well not bare, the half loaf of Bread was Moldy!
So I tossed it and had a nice slice of that Spice Fruitcake instead
And then on into the day, not much else going... I was waiting for something to happen to write about
And nothing did and I forgot to post this Saturday BLOG about Friday and Saturday Morning
Oh well, you didn't miss much, as if you ever do... Now it's Sunday...
Did anything happen on Saturday after my Scratcher outing? HAH!
Not much going on Thursday other than Tom, the Maintenance Man, clearing the Parking Areas
Been putting a lot of miles on that little Tractor this winter and a LOT of snow to clear this time
But then, it will all be gone by July, hopefully
Out in the Cold for a couple trips to buy and trade Lottos, just a couple small wins
Into the Afternoon, no Cooking Projects, certainly no outside Projects, winter Doldrums again
Nuked up some Refritos and Jalapeno Bean dip to go with my 'On the Border' Tortilla Chips and glass of Vino Tinto
Was thinking of a nice Chili Burrito for later but no need after all those Chips and Dip
Ho Hum, just a long cold but not so bad but boring day
Ya can't win 'em, all... or can ya?
So, I didn't need anything except my Lottos so I decided to wait, see if they would clear the Sidewalk
At least as far as the Parking area, then I could dig out my Blazer and head out
But still all quiet out there at 10.a.m. Not even anyone attempting that hill
One Car made it up earlier backing up the hill in spurts, go ten feet, stop and try again
I tried a hunk of that Banana Pudding Pie, falls to pieces when you left it out
But that mixes up the Crust with the Bananas and Pudding and this one is SOOOOO... GOOOD!
And I still have more than half of that Spice Fruitcake left... Tons of goodies!
And so then... about 11:30 or so the Mexican crew showed up, my Amigo Odilon parked across the street
So, I heard them out front shoveling away, took a look when it got quiet and this is what I saw
I think you can see from this who rates around this place
So then I got my Coat and Cap and Gloves and Broom to push some of that 10 inches of snow off my Windshield
Then started up the Blazer, was Ice under that Snow... Back inside to warm up a little
And then I got Phone Call... was from Odilon... wanted to know if I could heat up some Tamales for him
But of course... So a few minutes later he was the door, his Tamales were in the M/W
And then we had some chat in Spanglish while he had his lunch, then back out to shovel some more
He gave me a couple large home made Tamales his wife had made, later had them for Dinner
Then, my Blazer warmed up and Windshield clear I headed for the Price Chopper
Got my Juice and Scratchers and then into another routine afternoon, a -nice- cold day inside after all
So, Thursday Morning starting all over again... Said 2 Below Zero about 6 a.m. then dropped to that -5 Degrees
And seemed to get stuck on that, still saying -5 at 9 a.m. but the AT&T Home Page said it was up to Zero then
Anyway, doing the Morning Routine and then heading out, still need something at the Price CHopper
And of course those Lotto tickets... Off we go.. Out into the Wild Cold Somewhere!
And then what? On into a Snowy, Cold, TV and Cocktail Afternoon, what else is new?
Snow was just starting when I headed out to Kicks 66, real fine tiny flakes
Picked up quite a bit on the way back and we had a good covering by Noon
Then maybe 5 Inches or more by Tuesday Evening and a lot more this Morning... How much?
And it was 7 degrees when I first turned on the Computer today, dropped to 5 degrees at 5:30 a.m.
They are saying a high of 9 Degrees today and a minus -8 tonight.. Brrrr... turn up the heat
But then on into the usual afternoon, had some of that Pasta with Carne Asado left over
So I nuked up a plate of that with some Garlic Toast on the side, was quite adequate
That pretty well wound up the cold, blowy, snowy Day, kept a little busy anyway
Now this morning I don't have any urge to get out there to attack all that snow all over again
The Snow Plow came by about 6 a.m. so I could probably get up that Hill OK
But I don't need anything at the Price CHopper and the Scratchers can wait a little while
So, I'll just pour another Cup of Coffee, then attack a piece of that Banana Pudding Pie... Yeah!
So, another Cuppa Coffee, set a Pie Crust out to thaw, turned on the Oven
Then worked my Scratchers for an $6 and a $5 Winner, then started on my Pie
Into the Oven to pre-bake the Crust, the Pie needs no Baking, just a trip to the Fridge
And then, mixed up the Vanilla Instant Pudding, peeled and sliced the Bananas
Dumped them into the Pudding, stirred in well, then poured the Pudding into the Baked Crust
And then into the Fridge to Chill and ready to taste test any time the urge comes on!
And so, that done, I found a new potential Winter Gardening project waiting on the Kitchen Table
So I'll post this, and then get at that one, something else to do today!
On to Sunday, not clue what to do... Oh well, it was still early in the Day
So I did find a couple little things to so, dust here and there, carry out the Trash, such fun
There are more of those things to do but I like a bit more fun than housekeeping
So, started thinking of what's for dinner that would be special, that Pork was sure good
Then thought that Turkey Legs would be a good thing to nibble on, headed to the Price Chopper
Had to hunt around in the Meat Department a little but did find two packs
Too cold to try to Smoke them on Sunday, temp was only up to 18 degrees at Noon
But I could do them in the Oven, don't have to be a BBQ item every time
So I rinsed and dried them, brushed with melted Butter, dusted with Garlic Salt and Black Pepper
Then into the Oven to scent the place with roasting Turkey again and off to TV time
Let them roast about 45 minutes, then flipped them over to brown evenly
Another half hour checked again, a little more Butter, flipped again and back in the Oven
And then maybe 45 minutes more and Wah Lah! Turkey legs ready to gnaw on
Meantime I had made some Potato Salad, a Turkey Leg with Tater Salad and a Hunk of Italian Bread... Yeah!
Every bit as good or better than the last Turkey Legs I smoked outside and so easy too!
So that was the Weekend, now starting a new week all over again today... Let's get at it!
Back home, no luck to start the Month on my Scratchers, but a Drawing coming up soon, maybe luck out
So, I started on the Project of the Day... My Pay Day Cake, same recipe as my Birthday Cake
But this one I baked in a flat Pyrex Dish, a little easier to cut and lift out the Pieces
So that didn't take very long, an easy pour and mix Recipe, into the oven for maybe 50 minutes
And that sure smelled good while Baking... Then out to cool, ready to sample any time then
On into a dreary and cold afternoon but cozy inside with the Computers and TV and my Manhattan
Then off to the Kitchen to figure out something for Dinner, maybe with that Pork Dish I made Friday
So I was thinking maybe some Pasta with that Pork and Sauce, the Sauce full of Tomatoes and Onions
And I found I had some Elbo-Roni so I simmered up some in Chicken Stock
Then added some chunks of Pork and some Sauce, plated that, nuked it and it was quite Tasty
Maybe even better than the day before, some things meld the flavors after a bit of time
And then to finish the Day a nice hunk of that freshly baked Spice Cake
And... in my not so humble opinion... it was better than the one I baked for my Birthday!
And off to Beddy bye with dreans of the Lotto Drawing on Tuesday next, I have 304 Entries
Got an Instant $2 win on an 'EZ Match Show Me Cash', then scratched off a measly $5 win
Then I totaled up my Lotto Wins and Losses for the Month, down a bit more than expected
But not enough to be concerned about, actually pretty cheap Entertainment considering
Then in anticipation of today's Pay Day I scheduled all my Bills online, done for another month
We had a nice white covering over most everything about Noon, and more on the way they say
But the Street still looked good... And then what? On to what looked like another BORING day... Ho Hummm...
And then... still bored I headed back to the Price Chopper just to shop around
I wanted something special but no Idea what so I just wandered around looking
First in Produce, talking to Antonio, one of the Mexicans stacking Bananas, and I got some
Then heading toward the back, passed the Valentine Candy dsplay, picked up some Snickers Bars
Next to the Meat Counter, sliced Pork Shoulder for $1.48 a pound, can't pass that up
Needed some Jalapenos, got a Jar, saw KC Masterpiece BBQ Sauce for 99 cents... Yeah!
And, out of Pie, finished the last of that last one, how about another Cake like my Birthday
So, some Spice Cake Mix, and Lemon Pudding for that, still have dried Fruits at home
Then finished up with some Party Peanuts and Ice Cream Bars... Checked out for $18.29 including Tax!
And so, back in the Snow and Cold to unload and work a few more Scratchers, won a $6 Crossword
Then what to do with that Pork Shoulder? Well, haven't done my special Pork Recipe lately
I invented that many years back and called it Tejada de Cerdo con Salsa Picante, won Honorable Mention in a Contest
I used Pork Steak in the first one, this is the same but with sliced Pork Shoulder, just thicker slices
So I started on that, Garlic Salt and Ground Black Pepper on the Meat and into the oven to Roast
Then mixed up the Salsa, Chopped Onion, Garlic, Jalapeno Peppers, and some left over Celery
Then a Can of Tomato Sauce, Can of Diced Tomatoes, some Sweet Basil and Oregano (that I grew)
After about an Hour, flipped over the meat, back in the Oven for another half hour
Then out again, and poured that Sauce on top and back into the oven for about another Hour and then... Wah Lah!
And that pretty well wound up my Pre-Pay Day Celebration, some of that Pork with Jalapeno Cornbread. OLE!
So what for today?, starting off COLD again and with a couple inches of gritty Snow
Don't really want to go anywhere, maybe get my usual Lottos then stay inside
And the Cooking Project for today, got the Spice Fruit Cake to Mix and Bake...
Just checked, thought I might need Walnuts... Nope, have Craisins, Dates, Pineapple, Walnuts, everything I need
Apricot Nectar, Lemon Pudding, Eggs, and a little Bourbon... HAH! Spice Fruit Cake on the way!
And then a Cup of Coffee, worked my Scratchers for a $16 win, but that's still a loss
Next I unpacked my New Keyboard and Mouse, just like the two I have and like very much
I saw it is on sale at Amazon for $39.99, about what I paid for the other two
That's a pretty nice Lotto prize for turning in loser Lottos, get some of my money back anyway
And my 1099R was in the Mail, let's do income Tax, right on time, IRS starts working returns today
I did the Turbo-Tax free edition online as usual, easy and fast, will get the refund quick
I don't pay much Income Tax on my Pension but still nice to get almost half of it back
And so, into the afternoon again but not quite as routine, first set out some Shrimp to thaw
Then mixed my Manhattan and got caught up with the news, later Sigi came on Messenger
That monitor on the shelf online comes in handy now, we had a little Chat and then off he went
Then Swamp Dog got on and we did a Video Chat for quite awhile, then that wore down
Then I headed for the Kitchen to hot up my Fry Daddy, then deep fry a 'passel' of shrimp
Real tasty with that Spicy Cocktail Sauce, devoured every last tasty one...
That wrapped up another quite pleasant day, getting lots of those lately
And TWO Pay Days tomorrow... Hoo Ray! and still more in the Bank than last month!
