Well... in most bars they use Blended Whiskey to make a Manhattan and only 1 and 1/2 ounces of that.. and usually serve it Straight Up.. But I like mine On the Rocks... And I usually use a less expensive Sour Mash Bourbon so that results in a FOUR STAR Manhattan
But this one is made with some of the High Dollar Bourbon that Can the Man brought me when he passed through Parkville...
So... TWO Ounces of Wild Turkey 'Rare Breed' Sour Mash Bourbon (108 proof!)... ONE Ounce of Sweet Vermouth... FOUR drops of Angostura Bitters... and ONE Marischino Cherry... Once Ounce of Missouri River Water and SIX ice cubes to keep it cold while I sip sip sip....
The last of this series, I got the video of the Riverfest and then wandered off to the Carnival, got some more video there and then headed on back to the ranch for a manhattan and rest my tootsies... and edit a little video...
I was thinking maybe go back to get some night video when all the rides were lit up but just too tired after all that walking earlier... So, I have some video from last year at night and I added that to the new stuff... But it's not in HD and with my old camera, evem though the new video was not uploaded in HD, you can see the differnce in quality with the HD camera...Oh well, maybe next year
But I made Blu-ray DVDs of all the new video and it does look GREAT on my TV... And not.. On to New Projects...
~ And the Riverfest Packed up and Left Sunday Night ~
So... I got video of the Parade Suturday morning, then wandered over to the Riverfest to see what was what... About the same as last year but a couple added attractions... like the Camel rides and the Ninga Kids demo... Dennis, the man that gave the Hawiian Ice to Mike Thompson, Fox News, on Friday, wanted to make me a free one when I told him I put his stand on the internet... But I told him I needed two hands to work the cam and thanks anyway...
So I got some new video of the Fest, then went back to get video of the Carnival... I'll work on that today and maybe put it on MY PAGE tomorrow... I already added the new video to my web page es about the Riverfest and Parade... I'll add the carnival later
~ So the Riverfest Video Today and the Carnival Tomorrow ~
OK, I headed downtown to catch the Parade on Saturday... And way too early as it never gets to Downtown on time... It forms way up at Parkville Commons shopping center
about 2 miles from downtown and wends it's way down Hiway 9, and Main Street... to Downtown... So I found a ledge in front of a shop where I propped up and waited out
the hour before the Parade ever got there... I arrived downtown about 9:30 a.m. and the Parade didn't get there until 10:30 a.m.
So... then I got some pretty fair video of the parade and wandered over to the Riverfest for some more video and then back through the Carnival...
~ So the Parade Video Today and maybe the Riverfest Video Tomorrow ~
Just happend to catch the Friday 5 p.m. Channel 4 local news on FOX 4 NEWS... And there was Mike Thompson, their Chief Meteorologist, here in English Landing Park, Parkville, talking up the Parkville Days Riverfest which was just starting Friday afternoon...
So I caught several of his clips on my DVR, then headed down to the park to see if I could catch him on the air... But he was finished by then, but I caught a glimpse of Mike.. and Tom Hutsler, Co-Chairman of the Festival Committee cruising in a golf cart. They stopped long enough for me to get a video clip and say Hi... Mike is the Prime Goodwill Ambassador for Channel 4 News and one Great Guy!
~ And a Parade Today, Saturday, and I just might get some Video of That ~

Just another boring day so when BJ came over to use the computer I headed up to the Price Chopper for a spice cake mix and a package of mixed dried fruit and a half gallon of chocolate chip ice cream for pater... So then I heated up the oven, chopped up a cup of the dried fruit and got put my stand mixrr amd whipped up that easy cake mix.. and they are GOOD as well as easy...
Into the oven at 350 for about 45 minutes and VOILA.. there she be! See... I cut you a piece.. I haven't tried it yet but it always seems to come out fine... Nope, no icing , I think it tasts great just like that...

So... I took a look around the side of the building and saw the plants were getting a little straggly.. so I pulled the fence off and did sone tying up..,
Now they are neater and reaching for the sky again.. Plenty of green ones in there and we should be getting a good harvest real soon.. And BJ (neighbor) has been checking on them in anticipation of receiving some.. I usually get some spares...

~ Pastrami ~
~ The Video is Ready ~ See Below ~
~ Four Pounds of Boyle's Famous Corned Beef ~ Made in Kansas City ~
Well, I saw on the net that Pastrami is Smoked Corned Beef... Hey I can do that... Looked up the recipe, found one I could agree with... Headed up to the Price Chopper for a couple spices I didn't have and a nice hunk of 'Boyle's Famous'... corned beef...
So.. back at the Ranch, decided to do my Pastrami and do a video along the way... You can buy a raw beef brisket and brine it.. or just buy a pre-brined (corned) beef and start from there and save a couple weeks... Start by rinsing off well, the salty brining solution... Then dry and dust heavily with a dry rub... Similar to my BBQ rub but some different too, ground coriander and smoked paprika added to course ground black pepper, red pepper flakes and garlic powder...
Then into the smoker with a hunk of hickory wood for about 4 hours... looking good... Then wrapped and into the oven at 250 for another hour or so... Out of the oven to cool overnight in the fridge...
Next day, Friday, sliced up the Pastrami, packed into plastic bags and in the freezer with some, some into the fridge to try for dinner later... And then... loaded a couple large slices of Pumpernickel with Pastrami, mustard and some horseradish, then sample for the camera like Paula Deen does and I had to be honest that I was not overly impressed, though it is good... But I don't recall ever tasting any Pastrami from the deli or the store... So it may be GREAT!
