~ Sunday ~ February 05, 2012 ~ ~ A Few Small Scratcher Winners ~ ~ A Pineapple on Sale and Ensalada de Fruta ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
A nice start on Saturday morning, but a damp chilly day ahead
I wanted some Bananas for breakfast so I headed up to the Price Chopper
Got my Bananas but next to those were Pineapples $2.00 off, have to have one of those
And I bought $10 worth of Scratcher tickets, won $8, loss of $2

I peeled and sliced up that Pineapple then made a huge Fruit Salad, more than I could eat

~ Fruit Salad on the Hoof ~ Fruit Salad in the Bowl ~ I put away as much of that as I could then stored the rest in the fridge along with the Pineapple
And then headed back to the Circle K to trade my winners for three more cards

Back home to scratch off two $6 winners, so lose $2... win $3... and then up $1 for the day
So then back to the Price Chopper for another Bingo and Crossword
Traded my two $6 winners for two more and lost both.. What now? I lost count... I think down $6

Anyway... on into that dreary afternoon, damp and dreary chilly weather
Scrounging around in the freezer and fridge for 'What's for dinner'... Hmmm, Mashed Taters and Buttered Corn?
Hey, some Chopper Deli Fried Chicken would go good with that.. Back to the Chopper

Had to get a couple Twenties out of the Chopper ATM... Then on to the Deli Counter...
Hey, their 8 piece Deep Fried Chicken on sale for $6.99.. got to have that!

~ Price Chopper Deli Fried Chicken ~ And of course on the way out a couple more Scratchers for another $8...
A $3 Crossword and a $5 Crossword... Back to win a $10 on each one... $12 profit!
So that puts me ahead on Scratcher winners for the day and pays for the Chicken too!

Well at that point I had more money than I started with that day including all I had spent on goodies
But then I noticed I was low on Vino Tinto with that big chicken dinner ahead
So I headed back up to Gomer's Liquors for a Gallon of wine and a spare 1.75 Liter of Old Crow Bourbon
And then back to wind up the afternoon with Chicken, Mashed Taters and Gravy and Buttered Corn
And winding up a fine day (except the weather) with $200 more in the bank than the same time last month

~ Saturday ~ February 04, 2012 ~ ~ Income Tax Refund in the Bank ~ ~ No Special Cooking ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Lessee now, anything going on here Friday? Well that first good news, my new Drug Plan costs about 1/3 of the old one
And fast, ordered refills Friday Morning and before noon got an email saying it had been mailed
And then an email from Jim Reed, back as Director of the Nature Sanctuary, with Schedules for 2012
So, first project of the day, updated several pages on the Sanctuary Web site with the the new dates

Then on to the Price Chopper for Apple Cranberry juice and more loser scratchers, no go this month yet
T-storm and rain this morning, damp and chilly day, took a look out my window, did I get lucky?
Nice to be able to swing my car door wide without caution, hope this is a new turn of events

~ Such a Pleasant Sight to See ~ Well, I bought all kinds of snack goodies Thursday and had several kinds of candy here too
But I ran out of Peanuts, so as an excuse to go back to the Chopper, I went to get some
And of course then down the hill to the Fast Stop for a couple more DUD scratchers, where is my luck this month?

On into an uneventful afternoon then, same old routine... Just a Sausage on a bun with Chili and Cheese for dinner
On to today... First thing I see my Income Tax Refund is in the bank... Nice to be flush again
And looks real good for March, and April should be better... Now off to another day

~ Friday ~ February 03, 2012 ~ ~ Another Loser Trip to the Casino Again! ~ ~ More Chicken Cacciatore ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Well Thursday, what then? I need to write this stuff down as I go,. I forget the routine stuff
But really, that's about all that happens here... Routine Stuff
Anyway, I decided to venture another trip to the Casino, headed to Circle K first for that tank of gas
Back home to scratch off a couple losers, then stop by the office to tell Boss Bob I bent his towel rack
Woke up in the middle of the night, slipped or something, grabbed the towel rack and pulled it right out of the mounts
It bent in the middle, but the mounts were still firmly fastened....Anyway I stepped on it and fixed it
Bob offered to install a new one but this one just has a wrinkle in the middle and is covered by the towel anyway

So then on to the Casino to try again... Played down to almost my last credit right away, then hit a fair one and climbed back
Then up and down but never getting much past half my stash... 80 credits... Finally ran out, headed home
Then to the Price Chopper for TV nibbles, Carrots, Celery, Salami, Black and Green Olives and Cheese
Prepared a plate of those and settled in for some afternoon TV, later some more of that good Chicken Cacciatore

So what today? No more Casino unless I win a good scratcher... All the losses I want this month
Social Security deposit hit the Bank today but the Income Tax Refund hasn't hit yet
Anyway, I am better off with cash after Bills than I was last month... try to keep it that way
And I ordered my Prescript refills online this morning, IBM changed plans and the cost is way less with the new one
Looks like everything is coming up Roses!

~ Thursday ~ February 02, 2012 ~ ~ Back to the Casino Again! ~ ~ And a Slab of Smoked BBQ Ribs ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
So, I decided to go to te Price Chopper instead of the Gas Station, needed some light bulbs
The bulbs were just at $10 So I gave the gal a Twenty and stuck the other Ten in the Scratch Machine
So back home to start the Month right, Scratched off $31 worth of winners... Nice! $21 profit
And then Off to the Casino.. Stuck in my two Twenties, played an hour up and down and finally out
Won lots of 1 and 2 credit spins, a few 10s, a 20 and a 25, and maybe 3 50s, but no BIG winner spins
But it was fun for an hour or more and maybe worth the $19 loss it cost me

So back at the Ranchito, Now what? They are saying 60 plus tomorrow, BBQ weather!
But it was 60 here by noon so I headed to the Price Chopper to see what's on sale to BBQ
I was hoping Beef Brisket was on sale, but no luck and kinda pricey at that
But they had St. Louis cut Pork Spareribs on sale for $2.99 and I found a package with a $2 on instant coupon
Hey than one a nice little slab for about $5.00, just can't beat that!

So back home, rinsed and trimmed and then Sauced with Wooster Sauce, dusted with Dry Rub
Out to light the fire and lay on the apple wood then in with the ribs at 1:00 p.m.
Let them smoke til about 5 p.m. Then sauce with KC Masterpiece and into the oven to finish

Back out front in the gorgeous weather to sip my Manhattan and soak up the sunshine and Apple Wood smoke
This was a smaller slab of ribs that the usual two full slabs I buy so I thought 4 hours of smoke would do it
So I took them out about 4 p.m. Slathered them with KC BBQ Sauce and covered into the oven to finish another hour
Seems another hour of smoke or in the oven would have been better, ribs were done and tasty, but a little chewey

But overall a good way to wind up a rather pleasant sunny and warm Pay Day
What today? Get that tank of gas and then what other adventure awaits the day?

~ Wednesday ~ February 01, 2012 ~ ~ Finally a New Month and Pay Day ~ ~ All Bills Paid by 6 a.m. ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Welcome to February, what I call the NUTHN month, usually nothing happening much
At least it's the short one, but maybe not so much of NUTHIN this time
But did you notice, one more day this year in February... Leap Year HUH?
And just made the last BIG payment on my Blazer... only $95 next month to pay it off
So that means next month I will have $205 more to play with, maybe a couple more trips to the Casino?

Yeah, Happy Days are Here Again... Pay Day, all bills paid this morning and $15 more showed up in my IBM Check!
Where did that came from?... Well not all good news, Boss Bob stopped by to tell me he increased my rent by $10
Well, no increase for two years now and his water bill went way up so I guess I can live with that

With funds running short in January I didn't do much running around yesterday, one trip to the Chopper
And no need to cook, a buncha stuff in the fridge for re-runs, don't need to buy anything
And really nice weather, I sat out again yesterday sipping my wine in the sun, no jacket needed
And below the view from my chair, that tinkertoy even closer than yesterday

~ What Can I say? ~
So what for today? Really nothing on the Agenda, I'll run up for my Scratchers
Can't think of anything I need at the store, but I am gonna need some gas soon
Maybe a stop at the Circle K for a fill-up... And then what?

~ Tuesday ~ January 31, 2012 ~ ~ Pay Day Tomorrow! ~ ~ Chicken Cacciatore on Monday ~
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
Very quiet chat time Monday morning, a bit of IM with Sigi, Swamp Dog was in Kichen Chat a short time
Finished my BLOG such as it was, morning routine and then off to Gomer's for a Jug of Vino Tinto
And then what? I got the idea for summa Chickena Cacciatori again, haven't done that for a long time
Usually my Chicken and Sauce dish has been Arroz con Pollo lately, and been some time since that
So I put out a nice big Roasted Chicken Breast to thaw out whle I made the sauce

Maybe play a little of that Funiculi Funicula to get me in the mood for Italiana food
Then chop up an Onion, some Garlic, some Celery, maybe a small Jalapeno Pepper for some zing?
Saute up the Veggies some in Olive Oil first and then add in the Tomato Sauce
Not quite the exact Italian recipe for Cacciatore but I take liberties with recipes

~ Chicken Cacciatore El Pato Style ~
So I let that Sauce and Chicken simmer quite awhile, later put on some Spaghetti to boil
And then for dinner dumped the Spaghetti in the Sauce, then heaped on a plate and the Chicken on top
Sprinkled that liberally with Shredded Parmesan Cheese and had at it... Hah...Some pretty good Sketti!
You can't see in this photo but there is a big hunk of Chicken under that Cheese and Sauce on that plate

And what else? Well, I did make another Slide Show, an easy one, the Farmer's Market here a few years ago
I got some nice pics back then but I want to do it again with my new Canon DSLR 7D...
And make another Video with my new Panasonic AVCCAM Video Camera

And I took a walk up the hill in the afternoon to get the mail, no mail, hadn't been there yet
On the way back saw this in the Parking area, not CONVENIENT for me to have to watch opening the door
Even parking to the right side of my parking spot, I still have to watch when I open my door

~ This Parking Situation Make Sense to Anybody? ~ Why? There is a little defect in the pavement making a dent and he likes to park in that cavity
Personally I would park in the very center of my spot, I had no problem parking any of my 11 Cycles... anywhere

And Oh... bye the bye, you can see in that photo how water is diverted by that defect right under my car door
And sometimes it freezes there and the only slick spot is right under my left door
And some time ago I told Boss Bob about it, he says he'll try to fix it when the weather warms up...
So there too!

And on into the day and night, nothing planned today but they say my Income Tax refund will be deposited tomorrow
And of course that Nice IBM check will hit the bank by morning also....
