~ Goodbye to July ~
~ Hello to Tomatoes and Cukes ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ More Cucumbers and Tomatoes ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Well it has been a long hot Month and not as many Lotto Winners as in June, that was a lucky Month
And one more hot Month and then maybe we'll see some more temperate Days in September, Fall is on the way!
Well it did feel like Fall walking out the Door into that cool Morning... Very nice
And a quick trot up to the Dumpster with a couple bags of trash and then around back to see what there was to see
And lookee there, a couple little Cukes hiding in the Leaves, and three Tomatoes waiting to be Harvested, and that I did
Then a quick trip down the Hill to the Fast Stop to get some Lottos and back to scratch off $15, Loss of $10

The Cat was waiting for me out front and I didn't have any Gizzards left, so I headed back to the Price Chopper
Picked up some Chicken Gizzards and a few really nice looking Ears of Corn on the Cob... for Dinner later
Then back to feed the Cat and then see what I could get busy with to break into the new Day

Well now, I had those Photos of Pat's Kitchen Project, I had the idea of making a Video for her
But, I accidently had my Phone's Camera Aspect Ratio set to 4 X 3.... HD Video is 16 X 9...
So I thought I would run up there and just do some Video instead of the Still Photos I had
That I did, she and her Contractor were working away on the Project, I got some Video then
And when I left, she gave me the Photos of 'Before' and 'Start' that she had taken and I headed back

So then I had the ammo to start on the Video, first her Photos were also 4 x 9 but I changed the Width to 1920p
And then cropped the height to 1280p, that fits the Video Aspect Ratio to fill the Screen
You do lose some of the original Photo top and bottom but not noticibly so

So then I started on the Video Editing... With some Clips of some Party Videos I had made earlier
Since her Kitchen had been the Center of several Nature Sanctuary Parties and Meetings I added those Clips
Then I used Pat's Photos as the start of the Reconstruction and then I added my new Video, looking good so far
Now after they Finish I can get Video of that, add it and she will have a fun Video of her Project to show

And I worked on that Project until I used up all I had to start with then on to the rest of the Day
About all left to do was prepare Dinner and catch up on the News and then the Entertainment later
I made a nice fresh Salad, nuked up an ear of Corn, had that with sme BBQ and Cornbread and that was all she wrote

And that Finished up the last Day in July and now the this last Blog Page of the Month.... On to August!

~ A Visit from Pat ~
~ Made some Dill Pickles ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

A nothing much Morning but a pleasant afternoon chatting and watching TV
I got my Morning stuff done on Sunday Morning, nice Weather Day ahead but nothing needing attention
Checked out back, no Harvesting, a couple Tomatoes ripening, Pumpkin Vines blooming
But no Gardening to be done either front or back so off for my Lottos, got to the Fast Stop and got a Call
Was my friend and neighbor Pat asking me to stop by to see her Kitchen rehab, a complete redo
So I stopped by got a few Photos, she said she would be down to visit later and then back home

~ Pat's Kitchen Rebuild, a new Sliding Door~

Nothing going on until later and I had a few Cucumbers so I decided to make Dill Pickles
I still have Bread and Butter and Dill Pickles I made last Season and didn't need any more for Me
But Pat likes my Dills best so I thought I would make them for her, set about that minor chore

Easy enough to do, just make the Brine, slice the Cucumbers, heat the Brine, then cool the Brine
Put the Cucumbers in the Jars, pour in the Brine, Seal and into the Fridge, all done before Noon

~ First Pickles of the new Season ~

Then I was editing the Photos I got in Pat's Kitchen when I heard the knock on the Door at 1 p.m.
She came in, I showed her the Photos then we retired to 'El Pato Teatro Imperial' for the Videos
A catch up on my latest Video stuff, then then into an old Movie she wanted to see, 'Son of Frankenstein'
Halfway through the Movie, I popped some Popcorn, finished the Movie and then it was 'see ya' time

Pat headed up the Hill wth a Jar of my Pickles and I headed to the Kitchen to see 'What's for Dinner'
And that was just about all of Sunday... HAH! Tomorrow is Monday and Pay Day is Tuesday... Cheers!

~ Swiss Chard Harvest Day ~

~ Another Gorgeous Pumpkin Bloom ~ But Male Again ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Saturday Morning, got my usual early Morning stuff done, then set out for my Fortune at the Price Chopper
Bought $25 worth of Tickets, back honme to scratch off $30 in winners, will have to go back and try again
But before that, trekked out back to check things again, found another little Plump Cucumber, picked that<>
~ One More Cucumber ~ Pickle Time Coming? ~

And spotted another fully opened gorgeous Male Pumpkin Bloom but again no Females, we gonna get any this Year?
Next over to the Tomato Bed, the Swiss Chard in there looked ready to harvest, let's do that
Back in for my Shears and a bag to hold the leaves and back out again, didn't take long to get a full bag

Noticed again on the way back in, the Mowing Crew did a poor job of trimming the front edge of the Lawn between the Buildings
And it was still cool at 76 Degrees so I decided to fix that eyesore, hooked up the Electric Cord and back out to get my Lawnmower
Started mowing from the back, close to my Garden Beds along the side and then along that ugly overgrown front edge
Then another couple of passes to the back and I had it mostly all neatened up, looks a lot better

And then back in, dripping wet again but going to get wetter in the Shower, still hadn't had breakfast
But I did have my Apple Juice and Coffee earlier and a bottle of 'Glucerna' when I scratched my Lottos
Ansd then started the process to Rinse, Drain and Snip and then put the Leaves and Stems into a Container to store
I still have Beet Greens from earlier so these go in the Freezer until I get in a Greens cooking mood again

~ Swiss Chard to Harvest ~ Swiss Chard Rinsed ~ Swiss Chard to Snip and Bag ~

~ Swiss Chard ready for the Freezer ~

And that was all of my 'work' Day for Saturday, then on to a TV News catch up, (the Nut Review)
Then a Margarita with a Music Concert with my own Music from my Computer Files played on the TV with my Sound System
Next a hotted up Dinner of this and that and then back to the TV for a Movie to finish a busy Saturday after all

~ More eggplants ~ More Jalapeņos ~
~ A Home Grown Dinner for Friday ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ Two more little Eggplants ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Friday Mornng, Weather forecast looking good, Highs in the 80s for the next Eight Days!
But I can't believe the Weather can stay that way that long this time of Year, Hot Hot Hot!
Anyway, enjoy it while we have it and hope for the Better... Off we Go!

And now Four more Days until Pay Day, been a hard month for Cash, need a big Winner to get by til Pay Day
A couple extra Bills this Month and Rion missing his Payment didn't help, could use that $50 for more Lotto losers
Now I see my Gas Payment went up, using more Gas in Summer? Nah just a Greedy Gas Company

So what for Friday? No Idea, took the Trash to the Dumpster, headed around back, everything looking good
The Pumpkin Vines looking better than ever, and spreading into the new Cage Extension, still only Male Blooms
And then on the way back picked the Two little Eggplants, a bit small but ready and will make One serving for me

~ Pumpkin Vines like their new Play Pen ~

Then off on a hazy Morning to the Price Chopper, got my Four Lottos and lost all for the Second Day
So what for the rest of the Day... Ho Hum no ideas so far... I'll find something maybe

Well I had those Eggplants to prep and Oven Fry for later, sometime in the Afternoon
And a Pepper, Cucumber and Tomato to make a Salad for Dinner to go with the Eggplant
Noticed some good sized Jalapeņos on one of the Potted Plants out front, went out to pick them
That was a 15 minute project later, pickled them to join the others, I have enough already for a Year now

~ And more Jalapeņos to Pickle ~ And Pickled ~

And anticipating that Eggplant for later... a Salad would go good with that and I had the stuff
Peeled and sliced a Cucumber, then a Green Pepper and then a Tomato, added sliced Onion
That into the Fridge to cool until the Eggplant was roasted and ready, then add the Italian Dressing

~ Cucumber Pepper Onion Tomato Salad ~

And the Eggplant... Peeled, Sliced, dipped in Flour, Egg Wash, and then Panko Crumbs
On a Plate and also in the Fridge to set up before Oven Frying for Dinner
Back to the TV with my Margarita, a long Day of TV but the news was a bit interesting for a change
After enough of that, Some Peanut Oil in the Dish, into the Oven to heat up some
Then the Eggplant slices into the Dish and into the Oven for a half Hour or so, then Beep Beep Beep
Time to flip the Slices to brown the other Sides, and added some Picante Sauce to top each slice

~ Eggplant ready to Oven Fry ~ Ready to Serve ~

And Beep Beep Beep again, ready for Dinner, Dressing on the Salad, a Glass of Wine, the Eggplant plated
Then back to the TV for an old Movie to finish up a nice busy Day all over again... How Sweet it sometimes can Be!

~ Storms all Night Wednesday ~
~ Planted Beets ~ Harvested a Cucumber and Pepper ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ Harvest for Thursday Morning ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Well they said we would have Storms during the Night and we surely did, loud and long
And tons of Rain from what it sounded like, sure will not have to water again for a bit
So nothing much to be done in the Gardens for a day or so at least, I do want to plant some more though

And woke up just at 6 a.m. for a change, usually it's about 5, and saw the Power was out some time
So up and around, made my Bed, got my Apple Juice and into the 'Office' to do my Morning Computer runaround
Woke up my Dell Two, then over to Dell One, the Power light was on but nothing was on the Monitor
I shut it off, rebooted and NOTHING! Now what's wrong? I tried to get into the BIOS with no luck
So for the present I gave up, not in the mood to fight Computer troubles all over again at the moment

Well now, 8:45 a.m. 74 Degrees topping at 84... where did the Hots go? And instead of 90s all week.. 80s!
So time slipping away and I was just sitting there BORED, Ok I'll fix the Dell... Ya spose?
The Problem last time was similar, Computer would not Boot, I replaced the CMOS Battery, reset the Boot order and fixed it
So this time I removed the CMOS Battery, let the BIOS reset, replaced the Battery and fired up
This time I could hit the F2 Key to get to the BIOS, reset the first Boot device to the Samsung SSD
Hit 'Save and Exit' I did that and the Computer fired up to Windows... HAH! Won again

~ Where to go in the Bios to set Boot Order ~

And creeping on toward 10 a.m. and nothing much done yet, let's go plant Beet Seeds again
My earlier Beet Seed Tape didn't work at all, well maybe just the Seeds will do it on this try?
My AeroCart with the Potting Soil was parked around back, I wheeled it over next to the Pepper Bed
Then I spread out a layer of Potting Soil, lined up the Seeds, poked then under and covered with Soil
All finished, what's next, well I spotted a fat Cucumber in the back of the Cucumber Bed, overdue for Harvest
And then a nice Maxibell Pepper in the Pepper Bed looked ready and snipped that off too
Then back inside to clean up and start on the rest of the Day

That done and what's on the Kitchen Agenda for Thursday? Well I have been in a Mexican mood lately
Had Chili Stuffed Peppers, then Chili topped Enchiladas, how about some more Chili for something else?
I saw that the Price Chopper had sliced Pork Shoulder on sale, that makes superb Chili, let's get some
I headed out about Noon for some Pork and some Paper Towels and what else, besides my Lottos?
Well when I got to the Price chpper I saw that 'Glucerna' was on sale, picked up a six Pack
Tastes good and supposed to be good for you too... Then got my Towels and Pork and headed back

I decided to Oven Roast the Pork so I cut it up and into the Oven in a Pyrex Dish to cook down
Put a load of Dishes in the Dishwasher and then it was just piddle time until the Meat was ready

So, Chili time, chopped up the roasted Pork in my Food Processor, then into the Pot to add the other stuff
Well a Lady on Facebook asked for the Recipe for my Chili, there just isn't one, just what sounds good at the Moment
It turns out a little different most every Time but always tastes good... to Me anyway, that's what counts most
And one time I gave some to my Friend Lewis along with some Tamales, he gave some to his Wife and she raved about how good it was

So, I started in, write this down... My Chili has some Meat, some Onions, some Tomatoes, usually some Jalapeno, and Garlic Salt
Some Chili Powder, some Cumin, some Oregano, some Basil, some Tomato Sauce, sometimes a little Ketchup or my own Salsa Picante
So I started in on my non-recipe Chili, the Pork was in the Pot, I chopped up a sweet Onion, into a second Pot
I had a little Pork Fat stll in the Dish I roasted it in, put that in the Pot then added the onion to simmer
Then the softened Onion into the Pork, stirred that, then stirred in some diced Tomato and Tomato Sauce
Finally the Herbs and Spices, what do we have? Had no Oregano this time, but Basil, Cumin, Cilantro and Chili Powder

And that was about it, let it simmer on low for a while, then set it aside for later, didn't plan to use it that Day
Even later when it had cooled, into the Fridge to add to whatever Dish I come up with that can use some Chili

~ No-Recipe Pork Chili for whenever I need it ~

And on to the Afternoon and Evening, what's for Dinner, I had one of those Chili Stuffed Peppers left
And some Mashed Potatoes all ready to go, Hotted that up and it was even better that it was the first time
Some things just seem to taste better the next Day, flavors meld or something... anyway that was all of Thursday

~ Ever Onward and Upward! ~

~ A Little more work on the Pumpkin Cage ~
~ Mexican Cooking Day ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Wednesday Morning, 80 Degrees at 7 a.m. and out into the warm Morning, cloudy, no Hot Sun
Good for what I had planned for the first thing of the Day outside, and so, took out the Trash
Set it in the AeroCart parked just outside the Door with Soil and stuff to take out back
Several things I had planned to do out there and while it is cool enough to try them

So I tooled the Trash up to the Dumpster, dumped it in and headed out back
First thing, hooked up the Lawn Mower, wanted to cut the grass real short under the Cage Extension
So I did that, then around all the Beds, end to end, so the Mowing Crew would not get close to the Beds
I also dug up the little Orange Tree behind the Pumpkin Cage to transplant somewhere else
And by then I was dripping and Hot so I headed back in at 8 a.m. to cool off some

8:15 a.m. Cooled off a little and headed back out, then layed down some underlayment to kill the Weeds
Showed a couple Vines where to go then flipped the Cages back over and all done for the moment

~ Pumpkin Patch Cage ready for Pumpkin Vines ~

Then back in at 8:45 a.m. and dripping again, saw online it was 72% Humidity out there, no wonder
I wanted to do some new planting back there too but that humidity was just too much for me then
Time for a Shower and hunt up some Breakfast and then see if I had enough cash to buy some Lottos

On the way back in the second time I saw that I could plant the little Orange Tree at the back corner of the Building
Nothing else going on at that Corner except the little Rose Bush I rescued... so let's do it

Cooled off a little and then back out for the Orange Tree transfer about 9 a.m. Humidity didn't feel so bad then
But I got my Spade and Shovel and dug a little Hole for the Tree and the humidity was there again
I kept going and got the Tree planted again in short order, and back in again and this time get in the Shower!

~ Orange Tree in it's new Home ~

And I finally did get all wet and clean and into clean clothes for the Day, the right way to start the Day
Still hadn't had any Breakfast but just don't have much appetite lately... A glass of Apple Juice and out the Door
So off to the Fast Stop for Lottos and Chat in a very light Rain that started after I came back in last time
At the Fast Stop I traded in my last $10 Win and added a $10 Bill to buy Four more Lottos
And back Home, won on all Four this time, a $5, $10, $15 and $15... Hah! a $25 Profit for the Day

Not much going on after that, venttured outside a few times but didn't stay long, that Humidity was just too much
So just poking around inside until I decided to cook something, got the Idea for Enchiladas
I had some Corn Tortillas and Cheese but needed Sauce and a couple other things, so back to the Price Chopper

Picked up my Stuff and headed back to start in, needed to make some Chili first, had a couple Frozen Burgers
Thawed and chopped up the Burgers, into the Pot to brown, then some Onions and Jalapenos and Salsa I had made
Added some finely diced Tomatoes then the Herbs and Spices, Chili Powder, Cumin, Cilantro, Basil... what else?

While the Chili was simmering I Chopped the Onions, Grated the Cheese, some Sauce in a Bowl, getting set to assemble
I had decided to make 'Stacked' Enchiladas, layered lke Lasagna instead of rolled up, easier and tastes the same
Has a Casserole just the size of the Tortillas, softened a Tortilla in Oil in the Skillet, dipped in Enchilada Sauce
Then into the Casserole, some Cheese and Onion on top, then another layer of a Tortilla with Cheese and Onion
Then the next Tortilla, dipped and this time Chili on top, two more layers of Tortilla, Cheese and Onion
Finally one more Tortilla on top and covered with Chili... then into the Oven

~ 'Stacked' Enchiladas ~ And Ready to Try ~

All set for Dinner and TV later then, so Margarita and News catchup time, such biased Media gets me so tired
Anyway time passed and then time to try my Enchiladas for Dinner at Movie time, dished out a slice from top to bottom
And so tasty and spicy, only used two of my tiny Home Grown Jalapenos but they were enough to spice things up
The rest, my typical Cheese, Onion and Chili topped Enchiladas... Si Si, muy delicioso, como siempre!

And then off to Bed, and more of those endless action Dreams, where do they come from?

~ Ever Onward and Upward! ~

~ Tuesday July 25, 2017 ~
~ Finished the Pumpkin Cage Extension ~
~ And a Small Harvest ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ Harvest for Tuesday Morning ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

And Tuesday Morning, got my Coffee and Computering done, headed out front at 7:30 a.m.
The Sun not peeking over the Forest in the Gully yet and nice and Cool to work
Dragged the Cage out on the front Walk and started in, bending and clipping the Wires on the Cage
Getting all the parts fastened tight, cut off the extra Foot on each end.... (my mistake)
And finished about 8:30 a.m. and dragged out back, placed next to the First Cage

~ Pumpkin Patch Cage Doubled in Size ~

Now I need to get back there again and dig some of the Weeds out of the Bed
And show the Vines where to go after they sneak under the Edge, already one going under
Then I picked a couple Cucumbers, couple of Peppers and one little Tomato

Into the Shower and then off to the Price Chopper for my Lottos, not a complete loss, won $15 back
And then what to do on a returning Hot Day, that slight cool spell didn't last long
89 Degrees and bright Sun, glad I got my Cage work done early, but then what to do?

Well there wasn't much to do the rest of the whole Day, just too hot and humid outside
Not even for a few minutes in the Shade to sip my Margarita and watch the Birdies
So it was just trying to find something to do on the Computer, then TV and then cooking

I had some of that 'Special' Chili I whipped up for a Tortilla Chip Dip and those two little Peppers
Thought I just might try stuffing the Peppers with the Chili and making some smashed Taters to go with
So I proceeded with that, easy enough, had just exactly enough Chili to fill both Peppers
Then into the Oven while I made some Mashed Taters, then back to the TV until Dinner Time

~ My Two little Peppers stuffed with Special Chili ~

At Dinner Time, the two little Peppers on my Plate and a nice pile of Smashed Taters
Back to the TV with my loot and a glass of Vino Tinto to finish the Day with an old Movie
And that finished up my hot Day Tuesday, not for a hotter Day on Wednesday

~ Ever Onward and Upward! ~

~ Monday July 24, 2017 ~
~ Almost finished the new Project ~
~ Busy off and on all Day ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Monday Morning, the usual early start to the Day, finished that and headed out to Lowes
I needed some stuff from here and there and here and there are pretty far apart at Lowes
So I entered the Center Door, walked to the far right end and out to the Garden Area for some Potting Soil
Then back in a little bit for some Wild Bird Food and a new Humingbird Feeder
Then about half way back to the Center to find some Staples and a Drill Set Key, got that, a cart full
Then I checked out with that, loaded it in the Blazer then drove to the far East End
Parked just outside the Door, then walked all the way to the back of the Lumber Department for my 1 X 2s
The long walk back with my Slats, checked out and then out to load them and head back Home

Brought the Slats up on the Porch, went around back to get the AeroCart to haul the Soil out back
Unloaded the Soil and Bird Food, then started on the Cage... Sawed one 8 foot Slat in half
Then stapled a 2 x 4 foot length of Fencing to each of the 4 foot Slats
The final stapling was Two 2 x 4 Lengths of Fencing to the 8 foot Slat, done with that

Next was wiring the End pieces to the long side section... Like making a three sided Box
Last was wiring the 4 x 8 foot top piece to the ends and side... Then time for the Top
But 'Top time' was 'Put it off until later' time, at 1:45 p.m. it was just too hot out there

~ Pumpkin Cage at a Hiatus ~

Well I did go back out once more to do a little more, set the Top netting on the End and Side pieces
And I saw I made a mistake when I made the End pieces, the Fencing was only Three feet wide
Not the Four feet wide I made the End pieces, but I can fix that, just cut a foot off each End
So for Tuesday, Cut off the Ends and fasten on the Top and then drag the whole thing up the Hill

Back in once again to cool off, sip a Margarita, wstch TV and dig up some Dinner
Back at 'em in the Morning then...

~ Ever Onward and Upward! ~

~ No Watering Needed ~
~ Won a Nice Lotto ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ Nice $40 Win to Start the Day ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Sunday Morning and nice and cooler out there at 71 Degrees at 7 a.m. but won't stay that way long
Another Hot Day on the way but not as hot as then last three or four Days anyway
All my Computer stuff done by 7 a.m. Next on the Agenda, trot out back to check and then water the front Plants

And out the Door to see that we had a nice Rain during the Night, no need to water after all
On back to check the Gardens, yeah everything nicely watered, looking good
Checking the Pumpkin Patch, the Vines looking healthy but only one big Male Bloom
And I saw one Vine wanted to stray outside the limits of the Cage, so that gives me a Project
Make an extension for the Cage to let the Vines wander more widely and make me some Pumpkins

And I didn't mention in my non-doings on Saturday that I cleaned up my Fountain and hung it back on the Wall
Nice and clean for the moment and working again and no new leaks from the fall

~ Fountain Clean and back on the Wall ~

And then off to seek my Fortune and I found a little, hit the ATM at the Price Chopper
Then the Lotto Machine next to it, plopped in my $20, got Four Tickets, one was a nice $40 Win
So that made that trip worthwhile, and off to the rest of the Day

And then out to start on my new found Project, had just enough Wire Fencing left from the First one
to make my Extension Unrolled and snipped off a 4 X 8 Foot piece for the Top, then Two pieces 2 X 4 Feet for the Side
Would wire them together to make a 2 X 8 Foot length of Fencing, that just left the Ends
The Ends need to be Two pieces of 2 X 4 Foot Fencing, only needed one Side as it would be an open extension

And back inside to cool off some, getting hot out there, back out again to cut Two last pieces of Fencing
Measured and cut those, now just need to assemble, but I need a coupleof 1X2 Inch Slats
And I didn't feel like traipsing way over to Lowes so that's a Project to finish Tomorrow

~ Pumpkin Cage Extension ready to Assemble ~

Back in then to jump in the Shower then head to the Price Chopper for Cat Food
And of course I had to trade in some of my Winnings for more trys, this time I won $30
And on the way back I saw my Gas was almost on the Fill me up line, so what next?
Back then to the Minit Mart for a fill up and of course another Lotto try

It was 86 Degrees at Noon-Thirty but felt hotter than the 100 on Saturday and hadn't hit their 91 guess yet
And on into another hot Afternoon, and I did get out front for several sessions of watering
To hot for me to stay out there very long at a time, finally got it all done in late Afternoon

Then it was back in to stay and cool off and finish out the Day as usual and I think that finishes the Weekend

~ Ever Onward and Upward! ~

~ Saturday July 22, 2017 ~
~ HOT ~ HOT ~ HOT ~ And Humid ~
~ And not much going on ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

~ Coleus doing fine in the new Planter ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

84 Degrees at 9 a.m. and shooting for another 100 for Saturday, no plans except to water some
But first, out to take the Trash to the Dumpster then around back for a check, no Pumpkin Blooms
Saw a nice little Cucumber, might be ready in a couple Days, the Tomatoes have sort of backed off
I think I just might have pruned them just a bit too much, they looked great to start though

And then off to the Price Chopper, all out of Tequila and low on Triple Sec so I got that
A couple of Words en espanol to mi Amigo Mexicano Luis on the Way through Produce, then around the corner for my Tequila
Then picked up a couple Lottos and then headed back home and scratched off a $15 Win

And that was it until I got in the Mood to go out and water, already getting too warm for comfort
Then as the Day progressed I didn't get in the mood for anything going on outside
The only thing on the Agenda would be a trip over to I-435 for my Computer Payment

So I buzzed Rion on Facebook Messenger, I messaged 'Is this the Day'
I got an answer back in a bit, he started off with 'I wrecked my Car'... Oh hell
And then he proceeded to tell me the whole sad story, Car in the repair Shop, has to go to Court
Car paymnent is due, Insurance payment is due, has to hire a Lawyer, no money available
So nothing left for me... Well I was supposed to get a $50 Payment since he got my Laptop
But the real loss for me is the $30 a Month he has been paying, the Laptop isn't costing me anything
So I am out that much for the forseeable future, until he gets caught up... if ever

I did have $10 of Winners to cash in so I headed over there anyway to trade them in and talk to him a bit
Traded in my Winners, bought my losers had a little chat and headed back, and no go, only won $5 back

Nothing left of the Day then except a late afternoon Margarita and some Dinner and off to dreams
And then Sunday on the way again, more hot Weather and maybe I'll get back out and water

Friday Morning, another weekend looming and what's going on?
Well Juice finished, Blog Posted, Checked the Bank and Facebook and Email, what next?
Well, next was pour a Cup of Coffee and start on Friday's Blog and then what to do all over again
And looked like it would be too hot to do anything outside again, though nothing needs really to be done
Watered everything good on Thursday, maybe I can get by on Friday without more of that?
And yeah, my Fountain needs to have a new Hanger to get it back on the Wall but no hurry for that

79 Degrees at 6:30 a.m. Then says a High for Friday and Saturday of 100 and then the Heat tapers off a little
Next on the Morning's agenda, work my online Crossword and then decide where to go for Lottos again
And that decision was the Fast Stop again, headed down the Hill to chat with Roos Beck for quite a time
Traded in my $10 Lotto for $20 more, then won my $20 back, then to the Price Chopper and lost the $20

So, moving on in another Hot Day, sneaked out back for a look around, nothing to report on back there
And then picked my little Purple Beauty from the Eggplant Plant in the Pot
Then it did look like we would have some crispy Oven Fried Eggplant slices for Dinner

Into the Afternoon and Eggplant Prep Time, get it ready for the Oven when I decide 'When's Dinner?'
Got the Prep ready, Flour, Eggwash, and Panko Crumbs, peeled and sliced the Eggplant
Dip slices in Flour, then Eggwash and then Panko Crunbs and on a Plate to set up in the Fridge, easy enough

~ Eggplant Prepped ~ Ready to Serve ~

Ready for some 'Oven Fried Eggplant Slices'... Some Olive Oil in the Pyrex Dish, Into the Oven to Heat
Heating the Oil keeps the Slices from getting soggy from too much Oil, Eggplant then out of the Fridge to warm some
Meanwhile heat up some BBQ Chicken to go with the Eggplant... That sounds good
And then the Slices into the Oiled Dish and into the Oven... 45 Minutes later.. Dinner is served

Results? Very Tasty, found some Picante Sauce I made earlier just spicy enough to really pep up the Dish
And that little Eggplant was just big enough for one nice Serving, now I have to wait for another One... or Two

Thursday Morning, another Hot Day ahead, sure seems like July is lasting a long time
Well Time doesn't fly when you're not having fun, well I am having a little
But that's going to be hard to do the next few Days, saying 99 Thursday, 100 Friday and 102 Saturday

And off to the Fast Stop to buy my Tickets and chat with Roos Beck and we had a long chat
That is, between the customers interrupting us every other Minute, finally I ran down and headed home
Well not a total loss I did manage to win one $10 Ticket, ammo for Friday anyway

And then a quick trot out back to check things, and things looked a little Thirsty
I picked one small ripening Tomato and headed back in for Breakfast before heading out to water again
And 87 Degrees when I hooked up the Hose and headed out again... into that HEAT! Felt more like 115!
But I managed to stay back there for about Twenty Minutes and got everything watered good
At the last Bed I watered I saw a little fat Cucumber hiding, past prime so I picked it
And then dragged the hose back out front, came back in to cool off and rest up for round Two

~ Can't call this one a 'Straight Eight' ~ Looks more like a 'Fat Five' ~

Backout front around Noon at 91 Degrees to water a few more minutes, Dang! That is HOT Out there
Another close inspection of the Eggplant in the Pot, thinking maybe it will be big enough to snip on Friday
Watered just about of half the Plants before I gave up and came back in to cool off again... Phew...

~ Eggplant on Friday's Menu... Maybe? ~

And so I was cooling off inside and cruising around the Net and catching up with my BLOG and all was so quiet
And then BLAM! Sounded like something blew up out on my Porch... Nope, had to be that Fountain
Took a hike out to look, yeah, Fountain was on the Ground after knocking over my Spare Propane Tank
Well that wasn't the First time, it has fallen off the wall several times before and needed repairs afterward
I had just filled it up brimming full just a half hour before, my home rigged support couldn't hold it
So I unplugged it and propped it against the Wall, will see what it takes to fix it when I get in the Mood

~ My Fountain Fall Down ~ Go BOOM! ~

Once more back out into the Heat to finish up the watering, and Baby... it was Hot Outside!
Finished that and then saw I was about out of Vino Tinto, can't let that happen, back in the Blazer
When I fired up the Blazer the Temp inside said 108! Yeah that's HOT... Headed to the Price Chopper
The A/C cooled everything down inside and the temp read just 100 degrees at the Price Chopper
I got my stuff and headed Home, back inside about 3 p.m. and that's all she wrote for outside for the Day

Set out ny Dinner for later, mixed my Margarita and then on to TV and the rest of the Afternoon

And again... Meeting is adjourned...

~ Some Beets for Pickled Beets ~ The Leaves for Greens ~

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

Wednesday Morning... and a dismal outlook for the next Ten Days or more... Hot Hot Hot!
Says Sunny and 90s from now until August, no rain in sight, so can we last out this blast?
A Day at a time, trying to hide from the Heat and find something to do... Ho Hum and then some

Well, Wednesday Morning was partly Cloudy, no bright Sun and still comfy at 9 a.m. at least
So off to the Price Chopper to seek my daily loss ...errrr, I mean my Fortune
I traded in the dinky $5 I had plus $15 for more Lottos and all I won back was another dinky $5 Win

So enough of that for the Moment, off to the rest of the Day, took a bag of trash up to the Dumpster
And then headed out back to check the Crops, looking good, another little Tomato ripening
Checked the Pumpkin Patch, Two more large Male Flowers but lots more of potentials under the Leaves
I am looking for a few of them to be Females so we can have a Pumpkin for Pie in Ocrober

And, a few Green Peppers getting some Size and some Beets big enough for Pickles... decided to Harvest
So then I pulled every Beet Plant in the Bed, some with tiny Beets some with bigger ones
So I would snip off the larger ones to Pickle and then clip the tiny ones from the Leaves for the Greens
And that I did, into the Big Bowl with the Leaves, to wash them well for sauteeing into Greens later

~ Beet Leaves Washed and Ready to Saute ~

Then into the Pot with the Beets to simmer for about a half hour or so
Time slipping away, took the Beets out of the Pot at 10:30 a.m. Let then cool a bit, then slipped off the Skins
Easiest thing to peel is a simmered Beet, Skins just wash off, then into the Pot with pickling Brine
Let then simmer just a bit and then into the Jar and filled with Brine and just made exactly One Half Pint

~ Fresh Pickled Beets ~

Meanwhile I had the Beet Leaves sauteeing in a big Skillet with some Bacon, Bacon Fat and Onions
I added Salt, Pepper, some Cider Vinegar and that big Bowl of Leaves sauteed down quite readily
And then VOILA! Everything done right at 11 a.m. And looked like Beet Greens for Dinner later

~ Beet Greens Sauteeing ~ Beet Greens ready for Dinner ~

Sometimes I like it when they miss the Forecast, they said Sunny and Hot, it was still 76 degrees and cloudy at Noon
Even a few Rain sprinkles but then it looked like it would brighten up and then a little after Noon, Bright Sun again

Then on through a long Afternoon, for Dinner I put a frozen Chicken Thigh in the Oven with KC Masterpiece BBQ Sauce
That would take a couple Hours to get really savory at a temp of 200 Degrees, works good with frozen BBQ Ribs too
And after that long Afternoon of TV and sip sip sip wound down it was time to assemble Dinner

A big tasty Chicken Thigh, a slice of Buttered Cornbread, a pile of Beet Greens, a glass of Wine, that should do
And it did it well, and then it was time to shut down the place for another trip to Dreamland

And... what's for tomorrow? A try for the Weatherman to hit 100 Degrees he says

Well now, a very rare happening on Monday, I didn't realize until I posted my Blog that I didn't take a single Photo
Seems there is always something I want to take a Photo of every Day, not Monday though
I have over 18,000 Photos in my Files now and I could just a use a lot of them for the new events
So many I take are just repeats of the same things from Year to Year, like the Veggies and Plants<
But that is faking my new events and I just do not do that... I have to 'Out with the Truth!'

So what for Tuesday, looked like Monday weather again, starting at 74, going to 95
Needed to get out there early and finish watering out back, the Sun was so hot Monday I thought I would melt
And so, 7:30 a.m. Hooked up the Hose, out and up the Stairs and around back watering the Rhubarb on the way
Then watered the Cucumber Patch, looking good, lots of Blooms and Vines climbing
Next the Peppers, Beets and the Cucumber Vines in the Pepper bed, will pull those little Beets soon
And the 'Beet Seed Tape' I planted in that Bed has done absolutely NOTHING

Moved over to the Tomato Bed, Tomatoe Vines climbing tall but not many Tomatoes setting on
Maybe I pruned the Vines a bit too much earlier, Oh well, Seven nice ones so far
And the Swiss Chard in that Bed is going to be ready to clip, maybe next Week or so?

Finally the Pumpkin Patch, only one big Male Bloom but a lot more coming on, maybe even a Female?
The Pumpkin Vines are looking really healthy now, bigger and more productive with new Blooms

On the way in a Photo of my Eggplant Pot, three nice ones and growing every Day
Like the Monkey said when he backed into the Lawn Mower... "It won't be long now"

~ Waiting, Watching and Wishing ~ An Eggplant Soon ~

And then Morning Routine most all finished I headed to the Fast Stop to trade Lottos
Some chat With Roos and his English Wife, got my Lottos, he gave me a Russian 'Pirozhki'
Of course you know what that is... (I had to look it up)... Stuffed Pastry with Meat and Veggies

So back at the Ranchito to scratch off another dinky $5 Win just when I need a BIG one
And on then to WHAT? the rest of that Hot Hot Day? Not much except to putter around inside
And dragging on into the Afternoon and Cocktail Time, mixed my usual and went back outside
It had clouded up some but still very warm but I managed to stay out there for about half of my Drink
Then back in the Cool for some TV, the rest of the Day as usual, just winding down to Dinner Tine
And again off to bed way too early, makes the night way too long and I usually get up way too early

But I managed to survive for one more HOT Day and now looks like another one all Day on Wednesday

Monday again, and Weather like Sunday again, starting at a nice 73 at 6:30 a.m. but going to 96!
Anything much over 85 is just too hot for me, but I did survive the Heat on Sunday but barely
The only thing on the list to do on Monday was another try to take a Tomato to Lewis
I called him Friday when he wasn't at the Coffee House, he said he probably would be there Monday
So that would be the first stop before I headed to the Minit Mart to trade my $25 worth of Winner Lottos

Off to the Coffee Shop at 8 a.m. The Table was just about full except for one Seat (for me?)
So, some How Do's and all and I gave Lewis his Tomatoes, then the subject went quickly to my new Facebook Page
Some knew all about it already and we talked about that some, and this and that and some of the other
After some time then the Party ran down and they began to leave, and finally we were all gone

Next I trundled on back up the Hill to the Minit Mart and traded in my $25 of Winners
And then I only won $10 back, so that was all the Gambling for the moment

WHEW! HOT out there... 11:45 and my Gardening done for the Day... (maybe water late in the afternoon)
Went out about 10 a.m. to water the Planter to the Sky and then around back... Watered the Planter first
But after dragging the Electrical Cord back there and pulling a couple of Weeds in the Pepper Bed
And showing a few Cucumber Vines where to climb the Netting, I gave up on the watering Idea
Just too Sunny and Hot back there at 85 Degrees so far and climbing into the 90s

So I pretty much shut down for the Day, just too hot outside and nothing much to do inside
In the Afternoon I had some Tortilla Chips and Cheese with my Margarita and TV
And I set my Dinner out for later, got so sleepy after that I took a rare afternoon Nap
Woke up then feeling a bit better and went on to finish out the Day with Dinner and a glass of Wine
And Good Night Irene... Good Night...

Sunday Morning all over again, didn't this happen last week about this time? Time do fly!
A peek at the Weather, 71 at 6:30 a.m. and going to 94, better get the outside stuff done early
Wanted to saw off the rest of that ugly Bush and water everything front and back again

And so, a little after 7 a.m. I added some Oil to my Chain Saw, plugged in the Extension Cord outside
Trotted around back to bring the Cord back around Front, plugged in the Saw and went at it
And then, about Five Minutes later... all done, raked the mulch over the stumps and then on to other things

~ Bush to be Sawed ~ And Bush Gone ~

When I went back for the Cord I saw a nice Pepper, just about right to go with my Cucumber and Tomato
So I picked that, stuck in it my pocket to bring in for a Photo and later a nice fresh Salad

Back out again to take out the Trash and the Bush Trimmings and dump them in the Dumpster
Then some trimming on my Golden Barberry Bushes and the Weeds and Trees starting beneath them
And a Photo (above) of the Rose Bush I removed, some Roots stayed alive and it is growing again

10 a.m. Sunny and heating up fast, 83 degrees and still climbing and I needed to go out and water
At least most of the Stuff out front can be watered from the shady spots
But, all out of Coffee, needed to head to the Price Chopper, hit the ATM and Lotto Machine too
Cashed in some dinky Wins, got my Cash, got my Lottos, got my Coffee and headed back
And continuing my lack of luck for July only got a $5 Win again this try... boo hoo hoo

And then BORED! Nothing I wanted to do that is fun, not ready to water yet... Ho Hum... BORED!
So I killed some time inside with this and that and some of the other and the Time advanced slowly

Then out into that Sun and Heat at Noon-Thirty and it was HOT! Weather said 88 Degrees but it felt like 105!
And I got about half the Plants watered before I headed back in to cool off for a bit
While I was out there I got a Photo of my tiny Purple Peppers and picked them all to Pickle later

~ Picked a Petite Pack of Purple Prince Peppers to Pickle ~

OK, what's next, time passing on, what's for Dinner? BBQ Ribs again, what about a Salad too?
Had a Fresh Tomato, Green Pepper, Cucumber... that's a start... Peeled and sliced the Cuke, into a Bowl
Then the Green Pepper sliced, then some Sweet Onion, a Fresh Tomato, some Chives, Basil
Mixed some Dressing I saw in a recipe online, sounded good, Olive Oil, Vinegar, Mayonnaise, Salt, Pepper
Then mix the Veggies and Dressing, stir to combine, into the Fridge to chill until Dinner time

~ Gorgeous Fresh Picked Garden Salad ~

2:30 p.m. and 91 Degrees, Margarita time, mixed my usual and then back out front to sip and consider finishing the watering
A few minutes out front and I was ready to water again, and that I did, from end to end and up the Stairs
And then back in to try my Salad with some 'Snacker Crackers' and it did pass muster...
But I made such a big Bowl od it I could only eat about half of it...
And then it was Dinner time to finish off another fairly busy and really pleasant Day

Halfway through July and starting a new Page, ho hum, what to do on Saturday now?
Well a nice note to start the Day, got a Facebook Post that said I got 50 'Likes' on my new Facebook Page already
And a Post on the 'Parkville Missouri History' Page with a Link to my new Page, that was nice of them
So we shall see how it does the next few Days and Weeks...

~ Lots of 'Likes' ~

Not bad for the first Day the Page was Posted on Facebook

~ Link to my Facebook Page ~

I posted my Blog on Facebook with a Photo of my Computer with the new Power Supply installed
And commenting it was still a no go... Then I got a comment from Jock Whyte in England
John Thomas Whyte asked: "Are you getting power to the motherboard Don? Clear the CMOS"
Well yes, I had Power but did not clear the CMOS, read Online how to do it
Advice said to use the 'Clear CMOS Jumper' near the CMOS Battery, my Computer did not have that
But another suggestion was 'Remove the CMOS Battery', that would clear it, did that
Put the Battery back but still had a problem, So I thought I would replace the Battery with a new one

So Off to the Price Chopper for a few things including a new CMOS Battery, then down to the Fast Stop for Lottos
Back to work my Lottos for a $10 Win and then back to my Computer repair, installed the Battery and fired it up
Still not fixed but at least it got me to the BIOS Set Up and Boot Order, saw the Boot was not set to the SSD
So I set the Boot to the SSD, and fired it up again and it WORKED! Took me right to my Desktop...
Don't know what exactly happened and when, but at least I got it working with some outside advice

Back to el Ranchito, headed out back about 1 p.m. to check things, picked another nice Cucumber
Just the right size, maximumm for the 'Straight 8' type you want is 8 Inches but less than that is better, less seeds
And a couple more Maxibell Peppers are about ready back there, more Salads are on the way

~ One more nice Cuke, just the right Size ~

And a tentative Project at the top of the Stairs, the Maintenance Man started on this ugly Bush
I did more Clipping but it needs some 'sawing', maybe Sunday Morning while it is still cool?

~ Bush to be Sawed ~

And on to TV time, time to try my new Chili Dip with some Tortilla Chips, had some Wine to sip alongside
Well I never tasted Chili quite like that, tasted good but sure different, and spicy with a little Jalapeno I added
I had some BBQ Ribs planned for Dinner but the Chili filled me up so I subbed Ice Cream instead

Anyway a successful and lucky Day, I was at a loss how to get my Dell One Desktop going again
Anyway now back in business with Four working Desktops, but I really only need three... Really? NEED Three?

Well I USE Three, the oldest HP for Netflix and Vimeo and You Tube hooked to my big TV
My Dell Desktop One for Bank stuff and paying Bills, buying online stuff and cruising the Web...
And my Dell Two for writing my Blog, Editing my Photos and Videos, handy to have them all available
Dell Three Laptop is gone now and Rion is happy with it and Dell Four Desktop just sits there waiting

Anyway, is it Sunday yet? Got things to to do... Charge!!!

Friday Morning, glum looking morning, cloudy but warm, supposed to be a little cooler, top of 84
Doesn't say anything about Rain but it looks like it could any minute...
And so, I finished my Morning Computering and then installed the new Power Supply
Powered it up, and the same results, Fans start, Mother Board light on, but no go to boot
So back where I started, at a loss for the moment, maybe call Dell Support again

~ Power Supply Installed ~ Still No Go ~

And off to the Coffee House at 8 a.m. I had some fresh picked Tomatoes for my Friend Lewis
But no one from the usual Gang was there, so off to the Minit Mart for Lottos
Traded in a $5 Winner for another try, dug out a $20 Bill for Four more and lost the whole thing... Boo Hoo

So back home and up the Hill, on back to check things, looks like we got a real good Rain overnight
And the Gardens looked great, another Cucumber almost ready and I picked Three more ripe Tomatoes
That was about it for a just 'kickin back' Friday, not much more to do all that long Day
But I did make some more scratch Chili from a frozen Burger and other stuff, wanted a Chili Dip for my Tortilla Chips
Then some Dinner and some wine and more TV and that was all she wrote...
So let's try this long Weekend and see what we can come up with... Tally Ho!
