So I could head out for Lottos if I wanted to... but didn't feel like it was worth the effort just to lose another $20
I took off to the Price Chopper to get some loser lottos, and that's just what they were
Now what to do the rest of this now brighter looking Day?
And as usual it turned out to not be much of anything to do, just cook some dinner and have some Wine
I kept an eye out the Window watching for that Ice they promised, and now was falling by Bedtime
But they were warning it would show up later and we would wake up to Snow... again... we shall see
And the big News for the Weekend seems to be the Weather, they are predicting ICE! Like we need that
They are saying the Freezing Rain starts on Friday Evening and then continues all weekend, but with a Warmup on Monday
So it looks like I need to get my running around done early so I can hibernate the rest of the weekend
The worse threat is if we get any Power Outage, that would just bore me to Death in this Cellar I live in
And, the Lettuce was about done in Garden 7, decided to snip all the rest and give the Tomatoes more room
Then next will be what Lettuce is left in Garden 6, one more Harvest due from there
And did a little puttering around with this and that and did a little cooking, just nothing much
Finished out the Day as usual, checking out the window watching for the Ice to start and hadn't by bedtime
On to the Weekend then, see what trouble we are in on Saturday Morning with the Weather
I got my Blog finished and posted on Thursday morning and then went online checking out the Windows 10 Insider Forum
And looks like several others had my problem with the last Update, and they found a solution
Seems that if you have a second Monitor plugged in, that causes the problem, and I had a TV plugged into Dell Two
And I had the HP connected to my Living Room TV also... They say unplug, reboot and that fixes it
So I went in to check the HP, fired it up, it was already fixed! That TV being off all Night
And when I rebooted with the TV off this Morning, that solved the problem there
Back in to unplug the TV from Dell Two, rebooted and again... problem solved, we're back in business!
OK, back to the real World, Christmas gone, New Years finished, Birthday over... No Holidays until when?
And no Appointments until February, free for another Month to do nothing, so what's for Thursday?
So nothing to do but chase Lottos and Cook and watch TV... Oh... and do the Laundry, such an exciting existence
Then off in the Chilly Day to the Price Chopper, Minit Mart and the Fast Stop trading small Lotto winners
Ended up with $25 of winnings but still a loss for the Day, back to the boredom
Did get a Photo of the Cannas in the Kitchen, just sitting on the Shelf growing quietly Day by Day
So one more Winter 'not much going on' Day, about two more Months of them looming, but we shall overcome
Starting off the Day, cloudy but warm, sort of, but they say maybe 60 this afternoon
And checking my Email... an Ad by the Price Chopper, Sliced Pork Shoulder $1.49 a Pound... BBQ Today?
Then checking the Front AeroGardens, that Lettuce needed Clipping, and I clipped a Bowlful
And what to do with that, some more 'Wilted Lettuce' for Dinner? Needed green Onions for that
And then back to the Meat Counter, picked out a nice pack of that 'On Sale' Pork Shoulder
Unpacked my Goodies, then dusted the Pork slices with some Dry BBQ Rub to season them up for Smoking later
OK, the Pig into the Smoker at Noon, how long, maybe a couple Hours? I checked it at 2 p.m. looked OK
So I brought it in, let it cool, packaged most of it and into the Freezer, saved out some for Dinner and later
Not a good idea, when it was ready on my Dell Two I tried it out.. Oh Oh, where are the Icons on the Task Bar?
So I could not do anything that I do on that Task Bar and that is a lot of things, like the Edge Browser
That pretty well shut me down for doing most of everything on the Internet... well then let's try Dell One
And I lucked out on that one, everything worked as before.. So then I checked the HP in the Living Room
Oh Oh, same-o on that one, no Icons on the Task Bar, just a little spinning circle like on Dell Two
Well for now I will do my Internet stuff on Dell One, like this Blog, until they send another Update
I have been getting those updates for over a Year now and really have had only a few real bumps that bothered much
I do like being in on the latest but I could shut off the Insider Program... well we shall see
So then, just finished out my Birthday Celebration with a big Salad and a Bun full of Smoked BBQ Pork
Yeah, Happy Birthday to Me and Hasta la Vista....
And I left about 8:15 a.m. so as not to be late.... HAH! I always get wherever too early, it's only a five Minute drive
There were two people waiting, one Lady that didn't have an appointment but they serviced her Car anyway
And another old Guy, even older than me, and they were having a hard time finding anythng wrong with his Car
But we were having a good talk about old times and then he set off in his Car about an hour later
And then finally the Lady left and I was next, but still I had to wait and wait as they needed a certain Oil they were out of
The Mechanic finished all but that and finally the Man showed up with the Differential Oil and I was done...
How long was that? Darn near three Hours, such quick Service, but the Man there said they were behind to start with
Then a quick trip down to the Fast Stop for Lottos, none won, and another stop at the Price Chopper
Got my Tequila and some Veggies and headed back for breakfast at 11 a.m. Yeah...
And that was about all the action for the Day all over again, I did harvest the first Lettuce from Gardens 6 and 7
Had more than enough for a nice Sandwich and I need to pick some more, beginning to shade the Peppers and Tomatoes
I hade a big Salad for later but I used some lettuce I already had in the Fridge, now I'll use the Garden Lettuce
So, almost halfway through January already and the rest of the month is clear of Appointments
Other than playing with Lottos, not much else to do the rest of winter
Well I need to get an Oil Change for the old Mercedes sometime, now off to my Birthday Celebration
Then to the Kitchen to check on the Plants there, a new Crop of Peppers had popped up
I planted Swiss Chard in that Garden some time ago and only One Plant popped up and going nowhere fast
So I decided to try a couple of Pepper Plants in the two back Pod spaces, see of they would work
I planted several Seeds in each Pod, the last of the Pickling Pepper Seeds, a few Days ago
A first peek at the Lettuce Crop on Sunday Morning, doing fine, about ready to start Snipping
Have to watch that the Lettuce Leaves do not shade the Pepper and Tomato plants in the back Pods
The Lettuce is growing much faster than those rear Plants
Later I was thinking of some Spaghetti and one of those Prize Italian Sausages for Dinner
But I didn't have any Spaghetti so decided to run up to the Price Chopper for that
But first I thought Pat would like some of my Cake so I cut off a big hunk, wrapped it in Foil
Then I called to see if she was Home, she was so I dropped that off on the way to the Store
And on to the Price Chopper, got my Pasta and headed back to make my Spaghetti Sauce from scratch
I had several containers of my Home Grown Tomatoes in the Freezer, ground up into Puree
Out with one of those and into the Pot, let that simmer to thicken some and then in with Onions and Peppers
I have several containers of various ground Peppers I grew also in the Freezer, I use them for this and that
Next I added some Olive Oil, Basil, Cumin, Oregano and Garlic Salt, last I dropped in an Italian Sauage
Into the rest of the Afternoon with my Cocktail and TV, at Dinner Time I simmered up some Spaghetti
Dumped the Spaghetti on a Plate, then the Sausage, topped it all with my own special Sauce and some Cheese
And I must say that Sauce was so much better than that stuff in the Jar at the Store... Oh yeah!
First, out to the Kitchen to make my Coffee, the Cannas there are doing OK, growing a little every Day
The one here had One Stem to start but now there are Five that have popped up
And then on to 1 p.m. when I saw Pat walking down the hill, started the afternoon Visit with my Computer on the TV
Catching up with my Blog and showing how my Computers are connected on my Network and Home Group
I can switch my HP Desktop now on an End Table to my TV, then click to the 'Home Group'
Then select one of the Computers in my Computer Room amd play back anything on either of them
Goes from the source Computer to the HP and then on to the TV to watch, sure can come in handy
And so, more Chat, Pat worked an online Crossword, then an afternoon Libation, back to the TV and Chat
And then that uphill climbing Time came back and she headed Home to tend to her Menagerie
And my Friend Rion had said he had more Loser Lottos for me so I grabbed my Jacket and headed out
Hiway 45 is the same as far as the last Intersection before hitting I-435 and is closed from there
So I took a left a short distance to the first Road West, took that and straight to where I wanted to go
Hardly any farther than the Hiway 45 Route which they are now widening for the last Mile or so
Into the Station, I had $30 worth of Lottos to trade in, did that and asked for Rion, he came out from somewhere
Gave me a big bag of Loser Tickets, some chit chat and I headed on back for the rest of the Day
And the rest of the Day was about the same as the usual Evening close-out, Dinner and and a Glass of Wine
Pretty nice Day after all considering the Weather, but... WARM on Tuesday maybe... then my Birthday
So what there to do inside? Not much besides beng bored and looking at my Plants, maybe nibble and sip at something
Well first thing, I flipped on the lights for the Living Room Plants, that rescued Canna is looking great!
And Three more in the Kitchen coming along nicely too, here is the front one now after Four Weeks
And thinking ahead again, I need to bake my Birthday Cake and I needed Buns for my new Burgers and Sausages
So I headed right back to the Price Chopper for that stuff... Brat and Burger Buns, and Cake Makings
I got all that stuff and then back to unload and get on to the rest of another nothing Day
Into the Afternoon with another Margarita, put out a Burger to thaw and then slowly used up the Day
Got a call from my 'up the hill and around the corner' neighbor Pat, time for another chat visit
So I wound up the rest of the long Evening with my Burger and looking forward to a visit Saturday afternoon
When I took the Photos above about 6:30 my Walk hadn't been cleared, I shoveled it after the last Snow
But looked out later.. the Walk was cleared and also the Windshield on my Blazer... Super!
On through a slow Afternoon, finally about 3:30 p.m. the Big Brown Truck slides down the Hill
Gets turned around and then a girl jumps out with my Big Box and lugs it to my Door
I says set it right down there and thank you... and away she goes, lugged that big Cooler Inside then
And then I opened it, took out the Dry Ice and tossed it, then began unboxing the Goodies
Then I emptied some of the really old stuff from the Freezer to make room for the new Stuff
Stacked all the goodies in the Freezer and saved out one big Bratwurst for an Evening Dinner treat...
The first Sample of many more Days of consuming that huge Cooler Box full of Burgers and Sausages
~ And How Sweet it Is! ~
I did go out Three Times for Lottos and losing every one of them, oh well just NOT a lucky Day
The rest of the Day just lolling around waiting for Bed Time, managed to stay up a little later
So now, Thursday Morning, have an Email saying my latest Lotto Prize will be delivered
At least something a bit different for Dinner Thursday Night
And... another Email about the Page I made of my 1963 Visit to Los Angeles, kind of interesting
"Donald, I just saw your site about your trip to Los Angeles in 1963, specifically Dorandos Restaurant in Hollywood.
Joseph Dorando was my grandfather. I was just just a youngster, 8, when he was killed in the Restaurant.
After that the Restaurant closed as his wife at the time was unable to remain open. That occurred in Feb 1964.
You must have been there just prior to the incident.
I have fond memories of going there every Sunday night for dinner and walking to the Ranch Market across the street,
although those memories are a bit cloudy nowadays. Anyhow, just a note to say thanks.
I get goose bumps and tears just looking at the photo... Mike"
Anyway, on to another Colder Day, let's get rid of Winter as fast as we can
Out to turn the Kitchen Shelf Grow Lights on and make the Coffee, saw Three more Cannas Popping up
Maybe a little more Color in the Kitchen Gardens the rest of the Winter
Well it was a cold dark day and no plans for the rest of the Day, bored already so I went to buy Lottos
So I decided to try a full Pack again, you usually just win back a little more than half the Cost
But that Big One might be hiding in that Pack and I do like the anticipation of winning big sometime
Back to the Price Chopper, got a full Pack of 60 Tickets and headed back to scratch, scratch and scratch
When I was finished I had scratched off the biggest one, a $100 Win and a Total of $250, a loss of $50
That's the biggest win I have had in a full Pack, now I still have that $250 to try for more big ones
And so... I trotted out to the Kitchen for a Cup of Coffee, took a look at the Living Room Plants
The Cucamelons were looking ragged and going nowhere but making more Vines, enough of that for now
So I decided to cut them all down and throw them out, a fun experiment while it lasted
Didn't look lt was going to produce any 'Melons'... Maybe I can try some Seeds outside later
Then off to Glen's Auto Lube for my long delayed Oil Change and what's this? Locked up and says Closed!
So? I thought the Holidays were over... it IS the Second of January ain't it?
OK then, on to the Price Chopper for a ton of Goodies I needed and a few I didn't and of course my Lottos
Back to unload and then scratch off exactly NADA! DOGGONE, bad way to start the Month
Well then 11 a.m. and No breakfast yet, time for some Biscuits and Sausage Gravy to face the rest of the Day
And did that and what else? I checked the Missouri Lotto Site to check on my latest Loser Ticket Point Prize
And they say it is Processing, another Cooler of Kansas City Steaks various Meats, got Nine of them so far
Some of them I ordered Two or Three times, the ones I liked best, I thought that would make an interesting (to me) Animation
So I got on their Site, looked up all my past Prizes and took Screen Shots of then, then made the Animation
And that was another quiet Second Day of the New Year, well quiet is good sometimes...
And then before I headed off to seek my fortune I took another peek at my Pickling Peppers
Also known at the 'Christmas Tree' Pepper and later we might get to see why that is... if we get Peppers
Anyway we now have a lot of Blooms in there and that could mean a lot of little Peppers on the way
Said 40 Degrees and partly Sunny but looked more hazy Cloudy to me, so let's take out the Trash at least
Took out the Trash, weather a bit warmer, the Holidays mostly all gone, let's take down the Christmas stuff
Took the Solar Lights off the Dwarf Spruce Trees, brought them in and put them on the Shelf and they turned on
Looks like they still think the Holidays are working... Then I brought in my Wreath and Bells and Lights
Now I'll will have to find a place to put them until Next Year's Holidays
And again the rest of the Day was OK but nothing to write home about... So now it's Monday
Got to go get the Blazer all lubed up and then find something to do for another boring Day
And... all my Morning Computer catchup and that Video and my online Crossword completed by 7 a.m.
Looked like this would be another very long Day, must find something to do... but what?
And it was a quiet News Years Eve Day and a quiet night too, didn't wake to hear any Fireworks if there were any
Just a tiny bit of Gardening, added Nutrient to Gardens 5, 6 and 7... Watered the Dwarf Spruce Trees out front
Then in the Kitchen in Garden 4, only one Swiss Chard Plant in six Pods so far, so I pulled out two Pods
Added Pickling Pepper Seeds to those and set them back in, try for something that will grow maybe
Then a trip to the Minit Mart for Lottos, No Go, so back to the Price Chopper for a couple things
And a $15 Win this time, not ending the year with much of a Win
Later... Dinner and watched some of my Videos to end out the Old Year, then off to Bed to rest up for the the New
